• Associate specific file extensions with my delphi app - any library for this?

  Hi, so far if I had to associate the file extension with my application I used to simply modify the registry. However I haven't been doing it for years, and I'm afraid the things might have changed a bit. I have no idea how to prevent registry access restrictions in Windows 7 / Vista (if there are any for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT). Thus I'm looking for some delphi library, unit, code snippet or whatever which works reliably under XP, Vista and 7. Is there any which handles "backup" as well? By backup I mean possibility to revert the changes to the previous association ... Thanks in advance, m.

  So, is there a VERY simple library that will render JSON objects as trees? I know that this can be done in many ways (such as YUI), but for debug purposes I'd like to simply be able to view a JSON objects I receive from a server as a tree, nothing fancy (but collapsable tree's would be a bonus). • Is there any real advantage to use zend ce server over just referencing (include) the zend framework library?

  Hi, I'm new to PHP frameworks, and currently I'm trying Zend Framework (ZF). I'm old fashioned when it comes to installing software, I like to install apache/mysql/php all separetely since I find easier and it gives me more control of it. It seems that the "encouraged" way to develop with Zend Framework is using the Zend (CE) Server. I personally don't like this idea of a app install everything else (PHP/Apache and so on). From what I've seen if I include Zend Framework Library in php.ini path I'm ready to go. So is there any real advantage to use the Full Zend (CE) Server??

• How to convert searchTwitter results (from library(twitteR)) into a data.frame?

  I am working on saving twitter search results into a database (SQL Server) and am getting an error when I pull the search results from twitteR. If I execute: library(twitteR) puppy <- as.data.frame(searchTwitter("puppy", session=getCurlHandle(),num=100)) I get an error of: Error in as.data.frame.default(x[[i]], optional = TRUE) : cannot coerce class structure("status", package = "twitteR") into a data.frame This is important because in order to use RODBC to add this to a table using sqlSave it needs to be a data.frame. At least that's the error message I got: Error in sqlSave(localSQLServer, puppy, tablename = "puppy_staging", : should be a data frame So does anyone have any suggestions on how to coerce the list to a data.frame or how I can load the list through RODBC?

However, when I'm writing my makefile, I have some difficulties on deciding if I should put something as a dependency of the file or just at the linking rule. • Position:absolute

  I have I have a div called logo. I want the logo to be on top of other areas and to overlap into the the preface top of a drupal site, the logo currently sits in the header area. I looked up position absolute and I think that what I need to use but when I use position absolute the logo disappears, I can see it if I use position fixed, relative etc. I thought the logo was being hidden because I was not using a z-index but even with that I cant see the logo. • Getting Perl DBD::mysql working on OS X 10.7?

  I can't seem to get Perl & MySQL to talk to each other on OS X 10.7 Lion. I did all the installs by the book, I used Oracle's PKG installer for the latest MySQL Community Server, and I installed DBI and DBD::mysql via CPAN. There were not problems at all during the install, but, when I try to USE DBD::mysql to connect to my local DB server I get the following error: install_driver(mysql) failed: Can't load '/Library/Perl/5.12/darwin-thread-multi-2level/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql.bundle' for module DBD::mysql: dlopen(/Library/Perl/5.12/darwin-thread-multi-2level/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql.bundle, 1): Library not loaded: /usr/local/mysql/lib/libmysqlclient.16.dylib Referenced from: /Library/Perl/5.12/darwin-thread-multi-2level/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql.bundle Reason: image not found at /System/Library/Perl/5.12/darwin-thread-multi-2level/DynaLoader.pm line 204. at (eval 3) line 3 Compilation failed in require at (eval 3) line 3. • Puppet classes out of order despite explicit arrow operator use

  Absolute puppet beginner here. I'm experiencing an interesting behavior with my puppet manifests and would love to know what I'm doing wrong. Let's for example say I'm configuring the instance with the following ordered classes: class { 'update_system': } -> class { 'facter': } -> class { 'user_sshkey': user => 'ubuntu', type => 'rsa', } -> class { 'tmux': user => 'ubuntu', } -> class { 'vim': user => 'ubuntu', } -> class { 'bashrc': user => 'ubuntu' } -> notify {"Configuring DB role":} -> class { 'postgresql': } when I run the manifest with the --debug switch, by looking at notify statements I can see the classes be executed in the following order: 1. update_system starts 2. a cron type inside of postgresql class (the very **last** class in that ordered list above) is executed 3. postgres::install starts 5. facter starts installing 6. postgres::configure and postgres::service start 7. the vim class is executed 8. "Configuring DB role" notification is made. All the way at the end here. etc Basically the thing is all over the place, the order doesn't seem to follow the arrow operators in any way. I'm guessing I'm missing something here that would force the classes to execute one at a time. Could it be that I'm missing some kind of anchor pattern here? Invalid containment?

• Ati X1600 driver problem on Mac

  Hi all, I currently own a 06' Macbook pro 1.1, and since some months I have recurrent problems of displays bug or artifacts. I searched quickly around to see that a lot of other users on Mac (iMac or Macbook pro) also have the same problem due to a problem for the X1600 video card. Apparently it's due to overheating problem, in my case even without warming a lot I have very bad display bugs such as colorful pixel lines, or glitches, and freeze and crash, all of this on Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard. I found this interesting article here talking about this problem and trying to gather people so that Apple take the serious GPU problem in consideration. In one of the comments, an user said he removed all bundle named with "radeon" and then he had no more problems under Leopard, and seems ot work fine well too on Snow Leopard. I did the same thing, I removed the bundles of the driver, restart, and no more problems, but not more 3D acceleration, which is not an acceptable solution. • Is there a reason to use library backups if I'm backup up full disks?

  In Windows Backup I can backup libraries or whole drives (or specific folders). I want a complete backup of all relevant drives. After selecting the drives, there's still the option to backup libraries: Is the backup going to do anything different if I include libraries as well as drives? Should I just backup the whole drive instead? Space used by the backup shouldn't be an issue, since I know the incremental backup is pretty smart..

  I am trying to use sqlite from PHP. I have the following simple code: <?php $db = new SQLiteDatabase("test2.sdb"); unset($db); ?> As the result of this code (which I execute in the command line "php test2.php") I get: Fatal error: Class 'SQLiteDatabase' not found in /var/www/test2.php on line 3 Does anybody know how can I make PHP able to use sqlite? P.S. Here I found out that "SQLite support is enabled by default on a standard Linux PHP compilation starting with PHP 5.0." And I have "PHP Version = 5.2.6-2ubuntu4.6". So, sqlite should be enabled unless the "--disable-sqlite". In my case output of "phpinfo();" does not contain "sqlite" at all.

• Windows explorer doesn't open My Documents, Music or anything when clicking the library?

  I recently installed Windows 7, and for some reason my Libraries don't open to My Documents, Music and so on.. I can access my files by typing into the explorers address bar, but clicking anything doesn't do anything, it just stays on the same screen. What's wrong? Since this is occurring on a relatively new install, I currently have 259GB free out of 297GB on my HD. The My Documents folder only has about 500 mb of Data.

• Are there any Pandora/Slacker like applications to create stations/play lists from personal mp3 library?

  I'm interested in having playlists created automatically much in the same way that Pandora and Slacker Radio "create" radio channels. I understand that iTunes has the Genius feature, but this requires that the files have been encoded with iTunes, which is not the case with my music, among other reasons I'm not considering iTunes. I'm running an Windows environment, but would consider Linux options as it would give me a reason to learn more about Linux. In the end the music files and play lists will end up on my Android phone and tablets. Working with Amazon's Cloud Player would be nice, but not required.

  I got some problem installing rails on Ubuntu 12.04. I have rails working on my Ubuntu for a little time. But for some reason I uninstall rails. When I decided to install it again with sudo gem install rails . The command rails -v doesn't work. When I run the command sudo gem install rails there is no error occurring just a message that saying: Successfully installed rails-3.2.6 I look at the folder /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/rails-3.2.6 and it is completely empty? I wonder how I can fix this problem?

• How do I rate limit google's crawl of my class C IP block?

  I have several sites in a class C network that all get crawled by google on a pretty regular basis. Normally this is fine. However, when google starts crawling all the sites at the same time, the small set of servers that back this IP block can take a pretty big hit on load. With google webmaster tools, you can rate limit the googlebot on a given domain, but I haven't found a way to limit the bot across an IP network yet. Anyone have experience with this? How did you fix it?

  Every day, I run 5 backups using 6 tapes. Each day, when I run the inventory, I get a tape alert Error. This occurs every day, on the same job. The error is: Job 'Inventory Daily ********' has reported Multiple Tape Alerts on server '******' Please refer to job log *****.xml for more information. When i look at the Job log, the Utility Job Information says: The device has reported the following TapeAlert diagnostic information Information- The library has been manually turned offline and is unavailable for use. Robotic library for device: PV132T 500 Warning - Library security has been compromised. Robotic Library for device: PV132T 500. Critical - The library has detected a inconsistency in its inventory. 1.Redo the library inventory to correct the inconsistency. 2. Restart the operation. Check the applications users manual or hardware users manual for specific instructions on redoing the library inventory. Roboric Library for Device PV132T 500. When I run the same inventory for a second time, the job completes successfully. I am using Symantec Backup Exec 12 running on Windows Server 2008. I am using a Dell Powervault 132T 500 tape drive. If anyone can help me on how to resolve this problem, it would be very much appreciated.

• How to use a common library of environment variables among different languages?

  We have three main languages with which we perform system tasks: Bash, Ruby, and PHP, and Perl. Four, four main languages. We use managed environment variables to provide authorization info that automated scripts need. For example, a mysql user account and password. We'd like to use one single managed file to maintain these variables. In some instances, for example, in cron, these environment variables are not available. They are made available in CLI scripts because we source the env file in everyone's profile. But something like cron doesn't do that. On the CLI, when the env file is sourced, any given script can access those variables. Bash has them directly, PHP in $_ENV, ruby in ENV, etc. We can't source the file into non-Bash scripts, because most languages implement shell commands by running them in a subshell. We considered parsing the Bash, converting to the script's lang, and running the equivalent of "exec(parsed_output)" on the resulting strings. What is a good solution to providing managed environment vars to scripts running in cron, or similar?

• Why is my library/Documents shortcut showing all files from all subfolders in one flat list?

  I am using Windows Explorer on Windows 7. In My Documents there's a folder 02 KOOP. If I go there using the adress bar: D:\users\username\My Documents\02 KOOP I get a view of my subfolders and some files: However when I use the Documents shortcut under Libraries, and then go to the 02 KOOP folder, all files that are located in all subfolders are listed in one big list. When you view the file properties, the actual location is shown: This is the only subfolder of My Documents that has this behaviour. Did I accidentally change some setting, or is something wrong? Is this some setting I accidentally changed?
