  • CrossPage PostBack in series of web pages

    - by Vishnu Reddy
    I had a requirement to pass data between pages in my application. I have a Page A where user will input some data and on submit User will be redirected to Page B where again user will enter some more data and on submitting user will be show a confirmation in Page C after doing some calculations and data saving. Following is the idea I was trying to use: PageA.aspx: <form id="frmPageA" runat="server"> <p>Name: <asp:TextBox ID="txtName" runat="server"></asp:TextBox></p> <p>Age: <asp:TextBox ID="txtAge" runat="server"></asp:TextBox></p> <p><asp:Button ID="btnPostToPageB" runat="server" Text="Post To PageB" PostBackUrl="~/PageB.aspx" /></p> </form> In Page A Codebehind file I am creating following public properties of the inputs to access in Page B: public string Name { get { return txtName.Text.ToString(); } } public int Age { get { return Convert.ToInt32(txtAge.Text); } } In PageB.aspx: using previouspage directive to access page A public properties <%@ PreviousPageType VirtualPath="~/PageA.aspx" % <form id="frmPageB" runat="server"> <asp:HiddenField ID="hfName" runat="server" /> <asp:HiddenField ID="hfAge" runat="server" /> <p><asp:RadioButtonList ID="rblGender" runat="server" TextAlign="Right" RepeatDirection="Horizontal"> <asp:ListItem Value="Female">Female</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="Male">Male</asp:ListItem> </asp:RadioButtonList></p> <p><asp:Button ID="btnPostToPageC" runat="server" Text="Post To PageC" PostBackUrl="~/PageC.aspx" /></p> </form> In Page B Codebehind file I am creating following public properties for the inputs to access in Page C: public RadioButtonList Gender { get { return rblGender; } } public string Name { get { return _name; } } public int Age { get { return _age; } } //checking if data is posted from Page A otherwise redirecting User to Page A protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (PreviousPage != null && PreviousPage.IsCrossPagePostBack && PreviousPage.IsValid) { hfName.Value = PreviousPage.Name; hfAge.Value = PreviousPage.Age.ToString(); } else Response.Redirect("PageA.aspx"); }` in PageC.aspx: using previouspage directive to access page A public properties <%@ PreviousPageType VirtualPath="~/PageB.aspx" % <form id="frmPageC" runat="server"> <p>Name: <asp:Label ID="lblName" runat="server"></asp:Label></p> <p>Age: <asp:Label ID="lblAge" runat="server"></asp:Label></p> <p>Gender: <asp:Label ID="lblGender" runat="server"></asp:Label></p> <p><asp:Button ID="btnBack" runat="server" Text="Back" PostBackUrl="~/PageA.aspx" /></p> </form> Page C code behind file: if (PreviousPage != null && PreviousPage.IsCrossPagePostBack && PreviousPage.IsValid) { lblName.Text = PreviousPage.Name.ToString(); lblAge.Text = PreviousPage.Age.ToString(); lblGender.Text = PreviousPage.Gender.SelectedValue.ToString(); } else Response.Redirect("PageA.aspx");

  • Drupal Override Custom Menu Template

    - by JaZz
    Hi Guys, I created a custom menu called "sub-top-nav" and now I'd like to override the html output. In particular I would like to add an unique class to each item like. This is how it looks atm: <div class="clear-block block block-menu" id="block-menu-menu-sub-top-nav"> <div class="content"> <ul class="menu"> <li class="leaf first"><a title="Test 1" href="/test1">Test 1</a></li> <li class="leaf"><a title="Test 2" href="/test2">Test 2</a></li> <li class="leaf active-trail"><a class="active" title="Test 3" href="/test3">Test 3</a></li> <li class="leaf last"><a title="Test 4" href="/test4">Test 4</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> And I'd like to change it into: <div class="clear-block block block-menu" id="block-menu-menu-sub-top-nav"> <div class="content"> <ul class="menu"> <li class="leaf test1 first"><a title="Test 1" href="/test1">Test 1</a></li> <li class="leaf test2"><a title="Test 2" href="/test2">Test 2</a></li> <li class="leaf test3 active-trail"><a class="active" title="Test 3" href="/test3">Test 3</a></li> <li class="leaf test4 last"><a title="Test 4" href="/test4">Test 4</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> This would give me more styling power. Any idea how that works? Thanks in advance!

  • MySQL table organization and optimization (Rails)

    - by aguynamedloren
    I've been learning Ruby on Rails over the past few months with no prior programming experience. Lately, I've been thinking about database optimization and table organization. I know there are great books on the subject, but I typically learn by example / as I go. Here's a hypothetical situation: Let's say I am building a social network for a niche community with 250,000 members (users). The users have the ability to attend events. Let's say there are 50,000 past/present/future events. Much like Facebook events, a user can attend any number of events and an event can have any number of attendees. In the database, there would be a table for users and a table for events. Somehow I would have to create an association between the users and events. I could create an "events" column in the users table such that each user row would contain a hash of event IDs, or I could create an "attendees" column in the events table such that each event row would contain a hash of user IDs. Neither of these solutions seem ideal, however. On a users profile page, I want to display the list of events they are associated with, which would require scanning the 50,000 event rows for the user ID of said user if I include an "attendees" column in the events table. Likewise, on an event page, I want to display a list of attendees for the event, which would require scanning the 250,000 user rows for the event ID of said event if I include an "events" column in the users table. Option 3 would be to create a third table that contains the attendee information for each and every event - but I don't see how this would solve any problems. Are these non-issues? Rails makes accessing all of this information easy, but I guess I'm worried about scale. It is entirely possible that I am under-estimating the speed and processing power of modern databases / servers / etc. How long would it take to scan 250,000 user rows for specific event IDs - 10ms? 100ms? 1,000ms? I guess that's not that bad. Am I just over-thinking this?

  • Dynamic model choice field in django formset using multiple select elements

    - by Aryeh Leib Taurog
    I posted this question on the django-users list, but haven't had a reply there yet. I have models that look something like this: class ProductGroup(models.Model): name = models.CharField(max_length=10, primary_key=True) def __unicode__(self): return self.name class ProductRun(models.Model): date = models.DateField(primary_key=True) def __unicode__(self): return self.date.isoformat() class CatalogItem(models.Model): cid = models.CharField(max_length=25, primary_key=True) group = models.ForeignKey(ProductGroup) run = models.ForeignKey(ProductRun) pnumber = models.IntegerField() def __unicode__(self): return self.cid class Meta: unique_together = ('group', 'run', 'pnumber') class Transaction(models.Model): timestamp = models.DateTimeField() user = models.ForeignKey(User) item = models.ForeignKey(CatalogItem) quantity = models.IntegerField() price = models.FloatField() Let's say there are about 10 ProductGroups and 10-20 relevant ProductRuns at any given time. Each group has 20-200 distinct product numbers (pnumber), so there are at least a few thousand CatalogItems. I am working on formsets for the Transaction model. Instead of a single select menu with the several thousand CatalogItems for the ForeignKey field, I want to substitute three drop-down menus, for group, run, and pnumber, which uniquely identify the CatalogItem. I'd also like to limit the choices in the second two drop-downs to those runs and pnumbers which are available for the currently selected product group (I can update them via AJAX if the user changes the product group, but it's important that the initial page load as described without relying on AJAX). What's the best way to do this? As a point of departure, here's what I've tried/considered so far: My first approach was to exclude the item foreign key field from the form, add the substitute dropdowns by overriding the add_fields method of the formset, and then extract the data and populate the fields manually on the model instances before saving them. It's straightforward and pretty simple, but it's not very reusable and I don't think it is the right way to do this. My second approach was to create a new field which inherits both MultiValueField and ModelChoiceField, and a corresponding MultiWidget subclass. This seems like the right approach. As Malcolm Tredinnick put it in a django-users discussion, "the 'smarts' of a field lie in the Field class." The problem I'm having is when/where to fetch the lists of choices from the db. The code I have now does it in the Field's __init__, but that means I have to know which ProductGroup I'm dealing with before I can even define the Form class, since I have to instantiate the Field when I define the form. So I have a factory function which I call at the last minute from my view--after I know what CatalogItems I have and which product group they're in--to create form/formset classes and instantiate them. It works, but I wonder if there's a better way. After all, the field should be able to determine the correct choices much later on, once it knows its current value. Another problem is that my implementation limits the entire formset to transactions relating to (CatalogItems from) a single ProductGroup. A third possibility I'm entertaining is to put it all in the Widget class. Once I have the related model instance, or the cid, or whatever the widget is given, I can get the ProductGroup and construct the drop-downs. This would solve the issues with my second approach, but doesn't seem like the right approach.

  • Compress file to bytes for uploading to SQL Server

    - by Chris
    I am trying to zip files to an SQL Server database table. I can't ensure that the user of the tool has write priveledges on the source file folder so I want to load the file into memory, compress it to an array of bytes and insert it into my database. This below does not work. class ZipFileToSql { public event MessageHandler Message; protected virtual void OnMessage(string msg) { if (Message != null) { MessageHandlerEventArgs args = new MessageHandlerEventArgs(); args.Message = msg; Message(this, args); } } private int sourceFileId; private SqlConnection Conn; private string PathToFile; private bool isExecuting; public bool IsExecuting { get { return isExecuting; } } public int SourceFileId { get { return sourceFileId; } } public ZipFileToSql(string pathToFile, SqlConnection conn) { isExecuting = false; PathToFile = pathToFile; Conn = conn; } public void Execute() { isExecuting = true; byte[] data; byte[] cmpData; //create temp zip file OnMessage("Reading file to memory"); FileStream fs = File.OpenRead(PathToFile); data = new byte[fs.Length]; ReadWholeArray(fs, data); OnMessage("Zipping file to memory"); MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(); GZipStream zip = new GZipStream(ms, CompressionMode.Compress, true); zip.Write(data, 0, data.Length); cmpData = new byte[ms.Length]; ReadWholeArray(ms, cmpData); OnMessage("Saving file to database"); using (SqlCommand cmd = Conn.CreateCommand()) { cmd.CommandText = @"MergeFileUploads"; cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; //cmd.Parameters.Add("@File", SqlDbType.VarBinary).Value = data; cmd.Parameters.Add("@File", SqlDbType.VarBinary).Value = cmpData; SqlParameter p = new SqlParameter(); p.ParameterName = "@SourceFileId"; p.Direction = ParameterDirection.Output; p.SqlDbType = SqlDbType.Int; cmd.Parameters.Add(p); cmd.ExecuteNonQuery(); sourceFileId = (int)p.Value; } OnMessage("File Saved"); isExecuting = false; } private void ReadWholeArray(Stream stream, byte[] data) { int offset = 0; int remaining = data.Length; float Step = data.Length / 100; float NextStep = data.Length - Step; while (remaining > 0) { int read = stream.Read(data, offset, remaining); if (read <= 0) throw new EndOfStreamException (String.Format("End of stream reached with {0} bytes left to read", remaining)); remaining -= read; offset += read; if (remaining < NextStep) { NextStep -= Step; } } } }

  • JPA IndirectSet changes not reflected in Spring frontend

    - by Jon
    I'm having an issue with Spring JPA and IndirectSets. I have two entities, Parent and Child, defined below. I have a Spring form in which I'm trying to create a new Child and link it to an existing Parent, then have everything reflected in the database and in the web interface. What's happening is that it gets put into the database, but the UI doesn't seem to agree. The two entities that are linked to each other in a OneToMany relationship like so: @Entity @Table(name = "parent", catalog = "myschema", uniqueConstraints = @UniqueConstraint(columnNames = "ChildLinkID")) public class Parent { private Integer id; private String childLinkID; private Set<Child> children = new HashSet<Child>(0); @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = IDENTITY) @Column(name = "id", unique = true, nullable = false) public Integer getId() { return this.id; } public void setId(Integer id) { this.id = id; } @Column(name = "ChildLinkID", unique = true, nullable = false, length = 6) public String getChildLinkID() { return this.childLinkID; } public void setChildLinkID(String childLinkID) { this.childLinkID = childLinkID; } @OneToMany(cascade = CascadeType.ALL, fetch = FetchType.LAZY, mappedBy = "parent") public Set<Child> getChildren() { return this.children; } public void setChildren(Set<Child> children) { this.children = children; } } @Entity @Table(name = "child", catalog = "myschema") public class Child extends private Integer id; private Parent parent; @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = IDENTITY) @Column(name = "id", unique = true, nullable = false) public Integer getId() { return this.id; } public void setId(Integer id) { this.id = id; } @ManyToOne(fetch = FetchType.LAZY) @JoinColumn(name = "ChildLinkID", referencedColumnName = "ChildLinkID", nullable = false) public Parent getParent() { return this.parent; } public void setParent(Parent parent) { this.parent = parent; } } And of course, assorted simple properties on each of them. Now, the problem is that when I edit those simple properties from my Spring interface, everything works beautifully. I can persist new entities of these types and they'll appear when using the JPATemplate to do a find on, say, all Parents (getJpaTemplate().find("select p from Parent p")) or on individual entities by ID or another property. The problem I'm running into is that now, I'm trying to create a new Child linked to an existing Parent through a link from the Parent's page. Here's the important bits of the Controller (note that I've placed the JPA foo in the controller here to make it clearer; the actual JpaDaoSupport is actually in another class, appropriately tiered): protected Object formBackingObject(HttpServletRequest request) throws Exception { String parentArg = request.getParameter("parent"); int parentId = Integer.parseInt(parentArg); Parent parent = getJpaTemplate().find(Parent.class, parentId); Child child = new Child(); child.setParent(parent); NewChildCommand command = new NewChildCommand(); command.setChild(child); return command; } protected ModelAndView onSubmit(Object cmd) throws Exception { NewChildCommand command = (NewChildCommand)cmd; Child child = command.getChild(); child.getParent().getChildren().add(child); getJpaTemplate().merge(child); return new ModelAndView(new RedirectView(getSuccessView())); } Like I said, I can run through the form and fill in the new values for the Child -- the Parent's details aren't even displayed. When it gets back to the controller, it goes through and saves it to the underlying database, but the interface never reflects it. Once I restart the app, it's all there and populated appropriately. What can I do to clear this up? I've tried to call extra merges, tried refreshes (which gave a transaction exception), everything short of just writing my own database access code. I've made sure that every class has an appropriate equals() and hashCode(), have full JPA debugging on to see that it's making appropriate SQL calls (it doesn't seem to make any new calls to the Child table) and stepped through in the debugger (it's all in IndirectSets, as expected, and between saving and displaying the Parent the object takes on a new memory address). What's my next step?

  • How to save data from multiple views of an iPhone app?

    - by DownUnder
    Hi Everyone. I'm making an app where I need to save the text in multiple views in the app when the app quits. I also need to be able to remove all of the data from just one of those views and when the app quits, it's possible not all of those views will have been created yet. After reading this post I thought perhaps it would be good to use a singleton that manages my app data which loads in the data when it is first requested and saved it when the app quits. Then in each view where I need to save data I can just set it on the singleton. I gave it a go but have run into some issues. At first I didn't synthesize the properties (as in the post I was using as a guide) but the compiler told me I needed to make getters and setters, so I did. Now when my applicationWIllTerminate: gets call the app crashes and the console says "Program received signal: “EXC_BAD_ACCESS”. kill quit". Is anyone able to tell me what I'm doing wrong, or suggest a better approach to saving the data? //SavedData.h #import <Foundation/Foundation.h> #define kFileName @"appData.plist" @interface SavedData : NSObject { NSString *information; NSString *name; NSString *email; NSString *phone; NSString *mobile; } @property(assign) NSString *information; @property(assign) NSString *name; @property(assign) NSString *email; @property(assign) NSString *phone; @property(assign) NSString *mobile; + (SavedData *)singleton; + (NSString *)dataFilePath; + (void)applicationWillTerminate:(NSNotification *)notification; @end //SavedData.m #import "SavedData.h" @implementation SavedData @synthesize information; @synthesize name; @synthesize email; @synthesize phone; @synthesize mobile; static SavedData * SavedData_Singleton = nil; + (SavedData *)singleton{ if (nil == SavedData_Singleton){ SavedData_Singleton = [[SavedData_Singleton alloc] init]; NSString *filePath = [self dataFilePath]; if([[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:filePath]){ NSMutableArray * array = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:filePath]; information = [array objectAtIndex:0]; name = [array objectAtIndex:1]; email = [array objectAtIndex:2]; phone = [array objectAtIndex:3]; mobile = [array objectAtIndex:4]; [array release]; } UIApplication *app = [UIApplication sharedApplication]; [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(applicationWillTerminate:) name:UIApplicationWillTerminateNotification object:app]; } return SavedData_Singleton; } + (NSString *)dataFilePath{ NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *DocumentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; return [DocumentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:kFileName]; } + (void)applicationWillTerminate:(NSNotification *)notification{ NSLog(@"Application will terminate received"); NSMutableArray *array = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; [array addObject:information]; [array addObject:name]; [array addObject:email]; [array addObject:phone]; [array addObject:mobile]; [array writeToFile:[self dataFilePath] atomically:YES]; [array release]; } @end Then when I want to use it I do myLabel.text = [SavedData singleton].information; And when I change the field [SavedData singleton].information = @"my string"; Any help will be very much appreciated!

  • Is this way the best solution to read and save images from Rss Feeds?

    - by Keyne
    Hi, I've build a "RSS Feed Reader" module to my application, and for every post with images in the content, I get the first that matches a specific size and then I save for future use as reference to the posts. When processing, everything works properly except when more then 10 images are saved at the same time (This value is variable). I got an 404 error after a while saving the images. Some images are saved, but not all of them. If I run the app in my local server, everything work as expected (using set_timeout(0) to avoid timeout errors). Currently my application is hosted at dreamhost and I'm using Zend Framework. I'm not sure if the problem is specif for Zend Framework applications, so I didn't put any tags about. I've had this problem another time with other projects hosted at dreamhost. They seems to limitate memory for operations like that. My question is: There is a better way to save images then this (maybe in background? a limited amount per operation?): require_once(APPLICATION_PATH . '/../library/simplehtmldom/simple_html_dom.php'); $TableFeeds = new Model_DbTable_Feeds(); $Feeds = $TableFeeds->fetchAll(); foreach($Feeds as $Feed) { $entries = Zend_Feed_Reader::import($Feed->link); $lastEntry = $this->getLastEntry($Feed->id); if($lastEntry) { $lastDate = new Zend_Date($lastEntry->created_at, Zend_Date::ISO_8601); } foreach ($entries as $entry) { if($lastDate) { if(strtotime($lastDate->get('y-M-d H:m:s')) >= strtotime($entry->getDateCreated()->get('y-M-d H:m:s'))) { break; } } $Category = new Model_DbTable_Categorias(); $availableCategories = $Category->getList('slug'); $categoria_id = false; foreach ($categories as $cat) { if(!empty($cat) && !$categoria_id) { $slug = Zf_Convert::slugfy($cat); if($availableCategories[$Feed->categoria_id] == $slug) { $categoria_id = $Feed->categoria_id; break; } if(in_array($slug,$availableCategories)) { $categoria_id = array_search($slug,$availableCategories); break; } } } if(!$categoria_id) { $categoria_id = $Feed->categoria_id; } // Cadastra a entrada $data = array( 'categoria_id' => $categoria_id, 'feed_id' => $Feed->id, 'titulo' => $entry->getTitle(), 'slug' => Zf_Convert::slugfy($entry->getTitle()), 'created_at' => $entry->getDateCreated()->get(Zend_Date::ISO_8601), 'link' => $entry->getLink(), 'html' => $entry->getContent(), 'tags' => $tags ); $entry_id = $this->insert($data); if($categoria_id == 2) { set_time_limit(0); $post_dom = str_get_dom($entry->getContent()); $img_tags = $post_dom->find('img'); $images = array(); foreach($img_tags as $image) { $images[] = $image->src; } if(count($images)) { $i = 0; $saved = false; while($images[$i] && !$saved) { $src = $images[$i]; $imagem = Zf_Image::create($src); $size = $imagem->getCurrentDimensions(); if($size['width'] >= 150 && $size['height'] >= 200) { $imagem->adaptiveResize(200,200); $imagem->save(PUBLIC_PATH .   • Android launches system settings instead of my app

    - by jsundin
    Hi, For some reason whenever I (try to) start my app the phone decides to launch system settings instead of my "main activity". And yes, I am referring to the "Android system settings", and not something from my app. This only happens on my phone, and I suppose it probably could be related to the fact that my app had just opened system settings when I decided to re-launch with a new version from Eclipse. It is possible to start the app from within Eclipse, but when I navigate back from the app it returns to the system settings rather than the home screen, as if the settings activity was started first and then my activity. If I then start the app from the phone all I get is system settings yet again. The app is listening to the VIEW-action for a specific URL substring, and when I start the app using a matching URL I get the same result as when I start it from Eclipse, app starts, but when I return I return to settings. I have tried googling for this problem, and all I could find was something about Android saving state when an app gets killed, but without any information on how to reset this state. I have tried uninstalling the app, killing system settings, rebooting the phone, reinstalling, clearing application data.. no luck.. For what it's worth, here's the definition of my main activity from the manifest, <activity android:name=".HomeActivity" android:label="@string/app_name" android:screenOrientation="portrait" android:clearTaskOnLaunch="true" android:launchMode="singleTop"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.VIEW"></action> <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT"></category> <category android:name="android.intent.category.BROWSABLE"></category> <data android:pathPrefix="/isak-web-mobile/smart/" android:scheme="http" android:host="*"></data> </intent-filter> </activity> And here is the logcat-line from when I try to start my app, nothing about any settings anywhere. I/ActivityManager( 1301): Starting activity: Intent { act=android.intent.action.MAIN cat=[android.intent.category.LAUNCHER] flg=0x10200000 cmp=se.opencare.isak/.HomeActivity } When I launch from Eclipse I also get this line (as one would expect), I/ActivityManager( 1301): Start proc se.opencare.isak for activity se.opencare.isak/.HomeActivity: pid=23068 uid=10163 gids={3003, 1007, 1015} If it matters the phone is a HTC Desire Z running 2.2.1. • Why does Keychain Services return the wrong keychain content?

    - by Graham Lee
    I've been trying to use persistent keychain references in an iPhone application. I found that if I created two different keychain items, I would get a different persistent reference each time (they look like 'genp.......1', 'genp.......2', …). However, attempts to look up the items by persistent reference always returned the content of the first item. Why should this be? I confirmed that my keychain-saving code was definitely creating new items in each case (rather than updating existing items), and was not getting any errors. And as I say, Keychain Services is giving a different persistent reference for each item. I've managed to solve my immediate problem by searching for keychain items by attribute rather than persistent references, but it would be easier to use persistent references so I'd appreciate solving this problem. Here's my code: - (NSString *)keychainItemWithName: (NSString *)name { NSString *path = [GLApplicationSupportFolder() stringByAppendingPathComponent: name]; NSData *persistentRef = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile: path]; if (!persistentRef) { NSLog(@"no persistent reference for name: %@", name); return nil; } NSArray *refs = [NSArray arrayWithObject: persistentRef]; //get the data CFMutableDictionaryRef params = CFDictionaryCreateMutable(NULL, 0, &kCFTypeDictionaryKeyCallBacks, &kCFTypeDictionaryValueCallBacks); CFDictionaryAddValue(params, kSecMatchItemList, refs); CFDictionaryAddValue(params, kSecClass, kSecClassGenericPassword); CFDictionaryAddValue(params, kSecReturnData, kCFBooleanTrue); CFDataRef item = NULL; OSStatus result = SecItemCopyMatching(params, (CFTypeRef *)&item); CFRelease(params); if (result != errSecSuccess) { NSLog(@"error %d retrieving keychain reference for name: %@", result, name); return nil; } NSString *token = [[NSString alloc] initWithData: (NSData *)item encoding: NSUTF8StringEncoding]; CFRelease(item); return [token autorelease]; } - (void)setKeychainItem: (NSString *)newToken forName: (NSString *)name { NSData *tokenData = [newToken dataUsingEncoding: NSUTF8StringEncoding]; //firstly, find out whether the item already exists NSDictionary *searchAttributes = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: name, kSecAttrAccount, kCFBooleanTrue, kSecReturnAttributes, nil]; NSDictionary *foundAttrs = nil; OSStatus searchResult = SecItemCopyMatching((CFDictionaryRef)searchAttributes, (CFTypeRef *)&foundAttrs); if (noErr == searchResult) { NSMutableDictionary *toStore = [foundAttrs mutableCopy]; [toStore setObject: tokenData forKey: (id)kSecValueData]; OSStatus result = SecItemUpdate((CFDictionaryRef)foundAttrs, (CFDictionaryRef)toStore); if (result != errSecSuccess) { NSLog(@"error %d updating keychain", result); } [toStore release]; return; } //need to create the item. • NSUserDefaults loses 3 rows each time it's called

    - by Jeff Decker
    Hello Everyone! Brand new programmer here, so off-topic help/constructive criticism welcome. I am saving a default state (such as "New York") in a UIPickerView which is in a FlipSideView. It certainly saves for the first and second time I check to make sure it's the same state (I am clicking "done" and then "info" repeatedly), but on the third check the picker has moved up three states (to "New Hampshire") and then every time I check the picker progresses three more states. Here's the .h and .m files of the FlipSideViewController: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> import "Calculator.h" @protocol FlipsideViewControllerDelegate; @interface FlipsideViewController : UIViewController { id delegate; UIPickerView *myPickerView; NSArray *pickerViewArray; } @property (nonatomic, assign) id delegate; @property (nonatomic, retain) UIPickerView *myPickerView; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSArray *pickerViewArray; (IBAction)done; @end @protocol FlipsideViewControllerDelegate - (void)flipsideViewControllerDidFinish:(FlipsideViewController *)controller; @end import "FlipsideViewController.h" @implementation FlipsideViewController @synthesize delegate; @synthesize myPickerView, pickerViewArray; -(CGRect)pickerFrameWithSize:(CGSize)size;{ CGRect screenRect = [[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]; CGRect pickerRect = CGRectMake( 0.0, screenRect.size.height - size.height, size.width, size.height); return pickerRect; } (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor viewFlipsideBackgroundColor]; [self createPicker]; } -(void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated;{ [super viewWillAppear:NO]; NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [myPickerView selectRow:[defaults integerForKey:@"pickerRow"] inComponent:0 animated:NO]; } -(void)createPicker;{ pickerViewArray = [[NSArray arrayWithObjects: @"Alabama",@"Alaska", @"Arizona",@"Arkansas",@"California",@"Colorado",@"Connecticut",@"Delaware", @"District of Columbia",@"Florida",@"Georgia",@"Hawaii",@"Idaho",@"Illinois",@"Indiana",@"Iowa", @"Kansas",@"Kentucky",@"Louisiana",@"Maine",@"Maryland",@"Massachusetts",@"Michigan", @"Minnesota",@"Mississippi",@"Missouri",@"Montana",@"Nebraska",@"Nevada",@"New Hampshire",@"New Jersey", @"New Mexico",@"New York",@"North Carolina",@"North Dakota",@"Ohio",@"Oklahoma", @"Oregon",@"Pennsylvania",@"Rhode Island",@"South Carolina",@"South Dakota",@"Tennessee", @"Texas",@"Utah",@"Vermont",@"Virginia",@"Washington",@"West Virginia",@"Wisconsin",@"Wyoming", nil] retain]; myPickerView = [[UIPickerView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero]; CGSize pickerSize = [myPickerView sizeThatFits:CGSizeZero]; myPickerView.frame = [self pickerFrameWithSize:pickerSize]; myPickerView.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth; myPickerView.showsSelectionIndicator = YES; myPickerView.delegate = self; myPickerView.dataSource = self; [self.view addSubview:myPickerView]; } (IBAction)done { [self.delegate flipsideViewControllerDidFinish:self]; } pragma mark - pragma mark UIPickerViewDataSource (NSString *)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView titleForRow:(NSInteger)row forComponent:(NSInteger)component { NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [defaults setInteger:row forKey:@"pickerRow"]; [defaults setObject:[pickerViewArray objectAtIndex:row] forKey:@"pickerString"]; return [pickerViewArray objectAtIndex:row]; } (void)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView didSelectRow:(NSInteger)row inComponent:(NSInteger)component { NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [defaults setInteger:row forKey:@"pickerRow"]; [defaults setObject:[pickerViewArray objectAtIndex:row] forKey:@"pickerString"]; } (CGFloat)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView widthForComponent:(NSInteger)component { return 240.0; } (CGFloat)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView rowHeightForComponent:(NSInteger)component { return 40.0; } (NSInteger)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView numberOfRowsInComponent:(NSInteger)component { return [pickerViewArray count]; } (NSInteger)numberOfComponentsInPickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView { return 1; } call me mystified!   • PHP: Writing non-english characters to XML - encoding problem

    - by Dean
    Hello, I wrote a small PHP script to edit the site news XML file. I used DOM to manipulate the XML (Loading, writing, editing). It works fine when writing English characters, but when non-English characters are written, PHP throws an error when trying to load the file. If I manually type non-English characters into the file - it's loaded perfectly fine, but if PHP writes the non-English characters the encoding goes wrong, although I specified the utf-8 encoding. Any help is appreciated. • How can I limit the cache used by copying so there is still memory available for other cache?

    - by Peter
    Basic situation: I am copying some NTFS disks in openSuSE. Each one is 2TB. When I do this, the system runs slow. My guesses: I believe it is likely due to caching. Linux decides to discard useful cache (eg. kde4 bloat, virtual machine disks, LibreOffice binaries, Thunderbird binaries, etc.) and instead fill all available memory (24 GB total) with stuff from the copying disks, which will be read only once, then written and never used again. So then any time I use these apps (or kde4), the disk needs to be read again, and reading the bloat off the disk again makes things freeze/hiccup. Due to the cache being gone and the fact that these bloated applications need lots of cache, this makes the system horribly slow. Since it is USB,the disk and disk controller are not the bottleneck, so using ionice does not make it faster. I believe it is the cache rather than just the motherboard going too slow, because if I stop everything copying, it still runs choppy for a while until it recaches everything. And if I restart the copying, it takes a minute before it is choppy again. But also, I can limit it to around 40 MB/s, and it runs faster again (not because it has the right things cached, but because the motherboard busses have lots of extra bandwidth for the system disks). I can fully accept a performance loss from my motherboard's IO capability being completely consumed (which is 100% used, meaning 0% wasted power which makes me happy), but I can't accept that this caching mechanism performs so terribly in this specific use case. # free total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 24731556 24531876 199680 0 8834056 12998916 -/+ buffers/cache: 2698904 22032652 Swap: 4194300 24764 4169536 I also tried the same thing on Ubuntu, which causes a total system hang instead. ;) And to clarify, I am not asking how to leave memory free for the "system", but for "cache". I know that cache memory is automatically given back to the system when needed, but my problem is that it is not reserved for caching of specific things. Question: Is there some way to tell these copy operations to limit memory usage so some important things remain cached, and therefore any slowdowns are a result of normal disk usage and not rereading the same commonly used files? For example, is there a setting of max memory per process/user/file system allowed to be used as cache/buffers?

  • Using label tags in a validation summary error list?

    - by patridge
    I was thinking about making use of <label> tags in my validation error summary on a failed form submit and I can't figure out if it is going to get me in trouble down the line. Can anyone think of a good reason to avoid this approach? Usability, functionality, design, or other issues are all helpful. I really like the idea of clicking a line item in the error list and being jumped to the offending input element, especially in a mobile HTML scenario where vertical orientation is more common and scrolling is a pain. So far the only problem I can find is that labels don't navigate for radio buttons or checkboxes without individual IDs (Clicking a label for a single ID-tagged radio/checkbox element alters its selection). It doesn't make it any worse than no label, though. Here is a stripped down HTML test sample of this idea (CSS omitted for simplicity). <div class="validation-errors"> <p>There was a problem saving your form.</p> <ul> <li><label for="select1">Select 1 is invalid.</label></li> <li><label for="text1">Text 1 is invalid.</label></li> <li><label for="textarea1">TextArea 1 is invalid.</label></li> <li><label for="radio1">Radio 1 is invalid.</label></li> <li><label for="checkbox1">Checkbox 1 is invalid.</label></li> </ul> </div> <form action="/somewhere"> <fieldset><legend>Some Form</legend> <ol> <li><label for="select1">select1</label> <select id="select1" name="select1"> <option value="value1">Value 1</option> <option value="value2">Value 2</option> <option selected="selected" value="value3">Value 3</option> </select></li> <li><label for="text1">text1</label> <input id="text1" name="text1" type="text" value="sometext" /></li> <li><label for="textarea1">textarea1</label> <textarea id="textarea1" name="textarea1" rows="5" cols="25">sometext</textarea></li> <li><ul> <li><label><input type="radio" name="radio1" value="value1" />Value 1</label></li> <li><label><input type="radio" name="radio1" value="value2" checked="checked" />Value 2</label></li> <li><label><input type="radio" name="radio1" value="value3" />Value 3</label></li> </ul></li> <li><ul> <li><label><input type="checkbox" name="checkbox1" value="value1" checked="checked" />Value 1</label></li> <li><label><input type="checkbox" name="checkbox1" value="value2" />Value 2</label></li> <li><label><input type="checkbox" name="checkbox1" value="value3" checked="checked" />Value 3</label></li> </ul></li> <li><input type="submit" value="Save &amp; Continue" /></li> </ol> </fieldset> </form> The only thing I have added to make the click-capable behavior more obvious is to add a CSS rule for the labels. .validation-errors label { text-decoration: underline; cursor: pointer; }

  • has_one and has_many associations: which side of the association is saved first

    - by SeeBees
    I have three simplified models: class Team < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :players has_one :coach end class Player < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :team validates_presence_of :team_id end class Coach < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :team validates_presence_of :team_id end I use the following code to test these models: t = Team.new team.coach = Coach.new team.save! team.save! returns true. But in another test: t = Team.new team.players << Player.new team.save! team.save! gives the following error: > ActiveRecord::RecordInvalid: > Validation failed: Players is invalid > from > /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.4/lib/active_record/validations.rb:1090:in > `save_without_dirty!' from > /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.4/lib/active_record/dirty.rb:87:in `save_without_transactions!' from > /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.4/lib/active_record/transactions.rb:200:in > `save!' from > /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.4/lib/active_record/connection_adapters/abstract/database_statements.rb:136:in > `transaction' from > /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.4/lib/active_record/transactions.rb:182:in > `transaction' from > /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.4/lib/active_record/transactions.rb:200:in > `save!' from > /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.4/lib/active_record/transactions.rb:208:in > `rollback_active_record_state!' from > /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/activerecord-2.3.4/lib/active_record/transactions.rb:200:in > `save!' from (irb):14 I figured out when team.save! is called, it first calls player.save!. player needs to validate the presence of the id of the associated team. But at the time player.save! is called, team hasn't been saved yet, and therefore, team_id doesn't yet exist for player. This fails the player's validation, so the error occurs. But on the other hand, team is saved before coach.save!, otherwise the first example will get the same error as the second. So I've concluded that when a has_many bs, a.save! will save bs prior to a. When a has_one b, a.save! will save a prior to b. If I am right, why is this the case? It doesn't seem logical to me. Why has_one and has_many association have different order in saving? Any ideas? Thanks.

  • Spring Security and the Synchronizer Token J2EE pattern, problem when authentication fails.

    - by dfuse
    Hey, we are using Spring Security 2.0.4. We have a TransactionTokenBean which generates a unique token each POST, the bean is session scoped. The token is used for the duplicate form submission problem (and security). The TransactionTokenBean is called from a Servlet filter. Our problem is the following, after a session timeout occured, when you do a POST in the application Spring Security redirects to the logon page, saving the original request. After logging on again the TransactionTokenBean is created again, since it is session scoped, but then Spring forwards to the originally accessed url, also sending the token that was generated at that time. Since the TransactionTokenBean is created again, the tokens do not match and our filter throws an Exception. I don't quite know how to handle this elegantly, (or for that matter, I can't even fix it with a hack), any ideas? This is the code of the TransactionTokenBean: public class TransactionTokenBean implements Serializable { public static final int TOKEN_LENGTH = 8; private RandomizerBean randomizer; private transient Logger logger; private String expectedToken; public String getUniqueToken() { return expectedToken; } public void init() { resetUniqueToken(); } public final void verifyAndResetUniqueToken(String actualToken) { verifyUniqueToken(actualToken); resetUniqueToken(); } public void resetUniqueToken() { expectedToken = randomizer.getRandomString(TOKEN_LENGTH, RandomizerBean.ALPHANUMERICS); getLogger().debug("reset token to: " + expectedToken); } public void verifyUniqueToken(String actualToken) { if (getLogger().isDebugEnabled()) { getLogger().debug("verifying token. expected=" + expectedToken + ", actual=" + actualToken); } if (expectedToken == null || actualToken == null || !isValidToken(actualToken)) { throw new IllegalArgumentException("missing or invalid transaction token"); } if (!expectedToken.equals(actualToken)) { throw new InvalidTokenException(); } } private boolean isValidToken(String actualToken) { return StringUtils.isAlphanumeric(actualToken); } public void setRandomizer(RandomizerBean randomizer) { this.randomizer = randomizer; } private Logger getLogger() { if (logger == null) { logger = Logger.getLogger(TransactionTokenBean.class); } return logger; } } and this is the Servlet filter (ignore the Ajax stuff): public class SecurityFilter implements Filter { static final String AJAX_TOKEN_PARAM = "ATXTOKEN"; static final String TOKEN_PARAM = "TXTOKEN"; private WebApplicationContext webApplicationContext; private Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(SecurityFilter.class); public void init(FilterConfig config) { setWebApplicationContext(WebApplicationContextUtils.getWebApplicationContext(config.getServletContext())); } public void destroy() { } public void doFilter(ServletRequest req, ServletResponse response, FilterChain chain) throws IOException, ServletException { HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) req; if (isPostRequest(request)) { if (isAjaxRequest(request)) { log("verifying token for AJAX request " + request.getRequestURI()); getTransactionTokenBean(true).verifyUniqueToken(request.getParameter(AJAX_TOKEN_PARAM)); } else { log("verifying and resetting token for non-AJAX request " + request.getRequestURI()); getTransactionTokenBean(false).verifyAndResetUniqueToken(request.getParameter(TOKEN_PARAM)); } } chain.doFilter(request, response); } private void log(String line) { if (logger.isDebugEnabled()) { logger.debug(line); } } private boolean isPostRequest(HttpServletRequest request) { return "POST".equals(request.getMethod().toUpperCase()); } private boolean isAjaxRequest(HttpServletRequest request) { return request.getParameter("AJAXREQUEST") != null; } private TransactionTokenBean getTransactionTokenBean(boolean ajax) { return (TransactionTokenBean) webApplicationContext.getBean(ajax ? • Why do some questions get closed for no reason? [closed]

    - by IVlad
    Recently there was a question asking about generating all subsets of a set using a stack and a queue, which was closed (and now deleted it seems) as not a real question for no good reason, since it didn't fit into any of these conditions: It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. No, it was clear what was being asked. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. Not ambiguous, not vague, not incomplete, definitely not rhetorical and could easily be answered if one knew the solution. Now, the exact same thing has happened with this question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2791982/a-shortest-path-problem-with-superheroes-and-intergalactic-journeys/2793746#2793746 I am interested in hearing a logical argument for why that question is either ambiguous, vague, incomplete, rhetorical or cannot reasonably be answered in its current form. It seems that (the same bunch of) people like to close questions that they think are homework questions, especially when they think people want to be served the solution on a platter, which is also not the case: Any suggestions or ideas of how this problem might be solved would be most welcomed. Most of the time the people asking these questions are very reasonable and appreciate even the most vague idea, yet their question is closed. Let's go further and assume that it IS a homework problem. So what? When I registered here I didn't see any rule that said not to post homework problems, nor do I see such a rule now. What is wrong with posting homework problems that makes people hunt them down with a passion to close them without even reading the entire question body? This site is full of questions asked by people who get paid to know the things they are asking, yet their questions are considered fine. How is solving someone's homework problem worse? In some places (like where I live), computer science is a mandatory high school subject, and not everyone is interested in it. How is helping at least those people worse than doing someone's JOB? Not answering homework questions is fine and it's everyone's choice, but I consider closing them to be an act of power abuse, selfishness, and an insult to the fellow community members who are also interested in a solution or want feedback on their proposed solution. So my questions are: - Why do questions like the above get closed for reasons that do not apply? Why do you close them? Why don't you? - Why doesn't a vote to reopen a question reopen it automatically? Needing 5 votes for a reopen takes too long, and it's not fair because one reopen vote basically cancels out a close vote, making it 4 close votes (or 5 to 1, which is the same as only 4 people wanting to close the question), which isn't enough to close the question. I think a question should only be closed when CloseVotes - ReopenVotes >= 5. I'm hoping this will stay up, but I realize it probably won't. In either case, I think this is worth saying and discussing, since it IS community-related.

  • Hibernate many-to-many mapping not saved in pivot table

    - by vincent
    I having problems saving many to many relationships to a pivot table. The way the pojos are created is unfortunately a pretty long process which spans over a couple of different threads which work on the (to this point un-saved) object until it is finally persisted. I associate the related objects to one another right after they are created and when debugging I can see the List of related object populated with their respective objects. So basically all is fine to this point. When I persist the object everything get saved except the relations in the pivot table. mapping files: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE hibernate-mapping PUBLIC "-//Hibernate/Hibernate Mapping DTD 3.0//EN" "http://hibernate.sourceforge.net/hibernate-mapping-3.0.dtd"> <hibernate-mapping package="com.thebeansgroup.jwinston.plugin.orm.hibernate.object"> <class name="ShowObject" table="show_object"> <id name="id"> <generator class="native" /> </id> <property name="name" /> <set cascade="all" inverse="true" name="venues" table="venue_show"> <key column="show_id"/> <many-to-many class="VenueObject"/> </set> </class> </hibernate-mapping> and the other <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE hibernate-mapping PUBLIC "-//Hibernate/Hibernate Mapping DTD 3.0//EN" "http://hibernate.sourceforge.net/hibernate-mapping-3.0.dtd"> <hibernate-mapping package="com.thebeansgroup.jwinston.plugin.orm.hibernate.object"> <class name="VenueObject" table="venue_object"> <id name="id"> <generator class="native"/> </id> <property name="name"/> <property name="latitude" type="integer"/> <property name="longitude" type="integer"/> <set cascade="all" inverse="true" name="shows" table="venue_show"> <key column="venue_id"/> <many-to-many class="ShowObject"/> </set> </class> </hibernate-mapping> pojos: public class ShowObject extends OrmObject { private Long id; private String name; private Set venues; public ShowObject() { } public Long getId() { return id; } public void setId(Long id) { this.id = id; } public String getName() { return name; } public void setName(String name) { this.name = name; } public Set getVenues() { return venues; } public void setVenues(Set venues) { this.venues = venues; } } and the other: public class VenueObject extends OrmObject { private Long id; private String name; private int latitude; private int longitude; private Set shows = new HashSet(); public VenueObject() { } @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy = GenerationType.AUTO) public Long getId() { return id; } public void setId(Long id) { this.id = id; } public int getLatitude() { return latitude; } public void setLatitude(int latitude) { this.latitude = latitude; } public int getLongitude() { return longitude; } public void setLongitude(int longitude) { this.longitude = longitude; } public String getName() { return name; } public void setName(String name) { this.name = name; } public Set getShows() { return shows; } public void setShows(Set shows) { this.shows = shows; } } Might the problem be related to the lack of annotations?

  • Why do I get rows of zeros in my 2D fft?

    - by Nicholas Pringle
    I am trying to replicate the results from a paper. "Two-dimensional Fourier Transform (2D-FT) in space and time along sections of constant latitude (east-west) and longitude (north-south) were used to characterize the spectrum of the simulated flux variability south of 40degS." - Lenton et al(2006) The figures published show "the log of the variance of the 2D-FT". I have tried to create an array consisting of the seasonal cycle of similar data as well as the noise. I have defined the noise as the original array minus the signal array. Here is the code that I used to plot the 2D-FT of the signal array averaged in latitude: import numpy as np from numpy import ma from matplotlib import pyplot as plt from Scientific.IO.NetCDF import NetCDFFile ### input directory indir = '/home/nicholas/data/' ### get the flux data which is in ### [time(5day ave for 10 years),latitude,longitude] nc = NetCDFFile(indir + 'CFLX_2000_2009.nc','r') cflux_southern_ocean = nc.variables['Cflx'][:,10:50,:] cflux_southern_ocean = ma.masked_values(cflux_southern_ocean,1e+20) # mask land nc.close() cflux = cflux_southern_ocean*1e08 # change units of data from mmol/m^2/s ### create an array that consists of the seasonal signal fro each pixel year_stack = np.split(cflux, 10, axis=0) year_stack = np.array(year_stack) signal_array = np.tile(np.mean(year_stack, axis=0), (10, 1, 1)) signal_array = ma.masked_where(signal_array > 1e20, signal_array) # need to mask ### average the array over latitude(or longitude) signal_time_lon = ma.mean(signal_array, axis=1) ### do a 2D Fourier Transform of the time/space image ft = np.fft.fft2(signal_time_lon) mgft = np.abs(ft) ps = mgft**2 log_ps = np.log(mgft) log_mgft= np.log(mgft) Every second row of the ft consists completely of zeros. Why is this? Would it be acceptable to add a randomly small number to the signal to avoid this. signal_time_lon = signal_time_lon + np.random.randint(0,9,size=(730, 182))*1e-05 EDIT: Adding images and clarify meaning The output of rfft2 still appears to be a complex array. Using fftshift shifts the edges of the image to the centre; I still have a power spectrum regardless. I expect that the reason that I get rows of zeros is that I have re-created the timeseries for each pixel. The ft[0, 0] pixel contains the mean of the signal. So the ft[1, 0] corresponds to a sinusoid with one cycle over the entire signal in the rows of the starting image. Here are is the starting image using following code: plt.pcolormesh(signal_time_lon); plt.colorbar(); plt.axis('tight') Here is result using following code: ft = np.fft.rfft2(signal_time_lon) mgft = np.abs(ft) ps = mgft**2 log_ps = np.log1p(mgft) plt.pcolormesh(log_ps); plt.colorbar(); plt.axis('tight') It may not be clear in the image but it is only every second row that contains completely zeros. Every tenth pixel (log_ps[10, 0]) is a high value. The other pixels (log_ps[2, 0], log_ps[4, 0] etc) have very low values.

  • AJAX response not valid in C++ but Apache

    - by fehergeri
    I want to make a server written in C++ to power my game. I learned the basics of sockets and wrote a basic chat program that worked well. Now I want to create an HTTP server like Apache, but only for the AJAX request-response part. I think just for the beginning i copied one Apache response text, and i sent the exact response with the C++ server program. The problem that is that the browser (Firefox) connnects to the apache and everything works fine, except all of the requests get a correct response. But if i send this with the C++ client, then FireBug tells me that the response status is OK (200) but there is no actual response text. (How is this possible?) This response-text is exactly the same what apache sends. I made a bit-bit comparison and they were the same. The php file wich is the original response <?php echo "AS";echo rand(0,9); ?> And the origional source code: Socket.h http://pastebin.com/bW9qxtrR Socket.cpp http://pastebin.com/S3c8RFM7 main.cpp http://pastebin.com/ckExuXsR index.html http://pastebin.com/mcfEEqPP < this is the requester file. ajax.js http://pastebin.com/uXJe9hVC benchmark.js http://pastebin.com/djSYtKg9 jQuery is not needed. The main.cpp there is lot of trash code like main3 and main4 functions, these do not affect the result. I know that the response stuff in the C++ code is not really good because the connection closing is not the best; I will fix that later now I want to send a success response first. UPDATE: now i tested today a lot again and i find out there is no problem with the socket. I used the fiddler program to capture the the good answer and to capture the bad. They were the same. After this i turned off my socket application, and forced fiddler to auto respond, and the answer from the 'bad' answer still bat. So after that i replaced the bad with the good and nothing happedned. The bad answer with the good text still bad on the :8888 port but the other on the original :80 port was good, but they were absolutly the same and the same program sended it (fiddler) i think there is something missing if the response is not on the same server address (even not the same port). UPDATE: oh my god! i cant send ajax request to a remote server. now i know this.

  • Change form field options dynamically (and restore previously selected options) using jQuery

    - by Martin
    I'm fairly new to both jQuery and JavaScript so can anyone please point out what I'm missing here? I have a form with multiple pairs of select fields, where the content of the second field relies on the selection of the first one. Once a value is chosen from the first one then a piece of jQuery code empties the corresponding second select options, gets new values as JSON and inserts them as new select values. All of this works with the code I've written. However if a user has chosen a second value, I'd like to restore it if possible (meaning if the new values also include the one previously selected). I tried to do this by first saving the second value and then trying to set it once the new options have been inserted. This did not work. However when trying to debug I inserted an alert() just before restoring the second value and with that in there it does work... Am I missing something very basic here? Any help would be appreciated. HTML: <select name="party-0-first" id="id_party-0-first"> <option value="" selected="selected">---------</option> <option value="1">first_value1</option> <option value="2">first_value2</option> <option value="3">first_value3</option> <option value="4">first_value4</option> </select> <select name="party-0-second" id="id_party-0-second"> <option value="" selected="selected">---------</option> <option value="1">second_value1</option> <option value="2">second_value2</option> <option value="3">second_value3</option> <option value="4">second_value4</option> </select> <select name="party-1-first" id="id_party-1-first"> ... JavaScript: $.fn.setSecond = function() { var divName = $(this).attr("name"); divName = divName.replace('-first', ''); divName = divName.replace('party-', ''); // Save the currently selected value of the "second" select box // This seems to work properly setValue = $('#id_party-' + divName + '-second').val(); // Get the new values $.getJSON("/json_opsys/", { client: $(this).val() }, function(data){ $('#id_party-' + divName + '-second').empty(); $('#id_party-' + divName + '-second').append('<option value="" selected="selected">---------</option>'); $.each(data, function(i, item){ $('#id_party-' + divName + '-second').append('<option value="' + item.pk + '">' + item.fields.name + '</option>'); }); }); // Here I try to restore the selected value // This does not work normally, however if I place a javascript alert() before // this for some reason it does work $('#id_party-' + divName + '-second').val(setValue); $(document).ready(function(){ $('[id*=first]').change(function() { $(this).setSecond(); }); });

  • Form values appear blank when submitting to the database - Drupal FormAPI

    - by GaxZE
    Hello, I have been working on this drupal form API script for past week and half. to give an insight into my problem.. the form below merely lists a host of database records which contain 5 individual scoring ranks. (mind, action, relationship, language and IT). this code is apart of my own custom module where all values are listed from the database. the idea behind this module is to be able to edit these values on a large scale. I am having trouble getting the values entered in the form to be passed to the variables inside of the marli_admin_submit function. the second problem is the assigning those values to their specific ID. for this purpose id like to add im merely trying to get just one score updated rather than all of them. below is my code. any advice appreciated. function marli_scores(){ $result = pager_query(db_rewrite_sql('SELECT * FROM marli WHERE value != " "')); while ($node = db_fetch_object($result)) { $attribute = $node->attribute; $field = $node->field_name; $item = $node->value; $mind = $node->mind; $action = $node->action; $relationship = $node->relationship; $language = $node->language; $it = $node->it; $form['field'][$node->marli_id] = array('#type' => 'markup', '#value' => $field, '#prefix' => '<b>', '#suffix' => '</b>'); $form['title'][$node->marli_id] = array('#type' => 'markup', '#value' => $item, '#prefix' => '<b>', '#suffix' => '</b>'); $form['mind'][$node->marli_id] = array('#type' => 'textfield', '#maxlength' => '1', '#size' => '1', '#value' => $mind); $form['action'][$node->marli_id] = array('#type' => 'textfield', '#maxlength' => '1', '#size' => '1', '#value' => $action); $form['relationship'][$node->marli_id] = array('#type' => 'textfield', '#maxlength' => '1', '#size' => '1', '#value' => $relationship); $form['language'][$node->marli_id] = array('#type' => 'textfield', '#maxlength' => '1', '#size' => '1', '#value' => $language); $form['it'][$node->marli_id] = array('#type' => 'textfield', '#maxlength' => '1', '#size' => '1', '#value' => $it); } $form['pager'] = array('#value' => theme('pager', NULL, 50, 0)); $form['save'] = array('#type' => 'submit', '#value' => t('Save')); $form['#theme'] = 'marli_scores'; return $form; } function marli_admin_submit($form, &$form_state) { $marli_id = 4; $submit_mind = $form_state['values']['mind'][$marli_id]; $submit_action = $form_state['values']['action'][$marli_id]; $submit_relationship = $form_state['values']['relationship'][$marli_id]; $submit_language = $form_state['values']['language'][$marli_id]; $submit_it = $form_state['values']['it'][$marli_id]; $sql_query = "UPDATE {marli} SET mind = %d, action = %d, relationship = %d, language = %d, it = %d WHERE marli_id = %d"; if ($success = db_query($sql_query, $submit_mind, $submit_action, $submit_relationship, $submit_language, $submit_it)) { drupal_set_message(t(' Values have been saved.')); } else { drupal_set_message(t('There was an error saving your data. Please try again.')); } }
