• IE advanced settings

  Working on a Domain network, I am having admin access over the machine , but recently found out(was in bad need for debugging), that I am not able to change the Advanced settings for the IE. Basically I need to enable the JS debugging so as to catch the grumpy JS issues. Looked out in the Group Policies but couldnt find anything substantial.

  When I go to certain websites that have google analytics, they never load up. One example is www.jquery.com. I tried in firefox, chrome, safari and explorer. Chrome & safari, flash the home page then it disappears and the screen goes white. Firefox never loads anything and the spinner just keeps spinning. Loads fine in explorer. Any ideas of what may be going on? If I use my laptop, on my same home internet connection, it works fine. This is not happening on all sites with analytics, just certain ones.

• Debug JS from browser without a server/localhost

  So something I do very frequently is writing random scripts in JS without really being part of an app. To run them I just paste them in the console of either Chrome of FF which works as a nice REPL, or if I really need more fancy debugging I just add it to my test app on localhost and browse it from the browser. Is there a way to get all the good debugging of a browser (breakpoints, locals, etc), without it being served from a server?, e.g by just copy-pasting my code into console or something?

• control + enter in browser takes only .com?

  I have this strange problem, how exactly does control + enter decides the domain of a website?? If i type stackoverflow,then hit control+enter, it works and takes to homepage, but i type ubuntuforums, then hit control + enter, it does not recognise its ubuntuforums.org, but goes to ubuntuforums.com?? How does this exactly work? If i need to change this behaviour, how should i do it?

  I'd like to use Markdown for documents to be exchanged with a colleague of mine. The ideal workflow would be IMHO editing the source in any plaintext editor while simultaneously viewing it in a browser. The client viewer should be able to redraw the text after each save automatically, and ideally even always switch to the most recent source file (so I don't need to navigate there manually). It'd be nice if I could (was allowed) modify the viewer a bit, things like using trailing spaces for line breaks are really terrible (I don't see them, my editor strips them, git complains about them, etc.). I'm interested in a software capable of this and easy to modify, and also in your opinions on the described workflow.

• How to take search query and append modifers to the end of it

  This is a greasemonkey question. What I'm trying to do is modify an old google discussions script. What were wanting to do is be able to take the google search query and add modifiers to the end of it. Like this: search query: "superuser" modifiers: inurl:greasemonkey+question end result: "superuser" inurl:greasemonkey+question The old script creates a new div within the "hdtb_more_mn" element which is where you get the new discussions tab. However, since the "tbm=dsc" option to do a discussion search has died, this script no longer works. Hence the need to add modifiers to your searches. I tried to edit the script, but it appends the modifiers to the end of the url which includes "&client=firefox-a&hs=8uS&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official". This means you're also searching for the above as well as your query, which doesn't work. I would like to be able to append the modifiers @ the end of the search querty, rather than the whole URL. I'm just not sure how to code it to where it adds the below "&tbm=" stuff within "discussionDiv.innerHTML" to the end of the query. The google search id seems to be, "gbqfq" for the search box, but I'm not sure how to add this id. • Malzilla Tutorial #4 - how to get it working

  I am trying to understand the basic work flow of using Malzilla , and therefore doing the tutorials. But already in the first one, where you actually get to do something I am lost as it doesn't work for me at all, even though I follow it step by step. In the first paragraph where you have to concatenate the string and then translate it using the MiscDecoders->DecodeUCS2, I am getting not printable chars as a solution, after concatenating and using the decoder. In the second paragraph where you are told to run the script after adding the function-call at the bottom of the script, the Decoder tells me that he cannot handle the arguments.callee.toString() method and therefor wont run the script. How outdated are those tutorials and how can I get them to work?

• Can I prevent Internet Explorer 8 from running scripts until the page is loaded?

  When trying to veiw a number of different websites in IE8, I get the following error message: HTML Parsing Error: Unable to modify the parent container element before the child element is closed (KB927917) On investigating the error message, it appears the script is trying to modify parts of the page before it is fully loaded. Is there a setting in IE8 I can change to prevent scripts from running until the page is fully loaded? EDIT: The sites in question used to work just fine, until I had to re-install IE8 for a seperate issue. Then they stopped working.

I have NoScript and AdblockPlus plugins installed, but neither of them explain how to filter out a particular script and keep it from running and leave the rest alone. • Cached css/javascript files on Sun Java System Web Server

  I'm doing front-end web development in a Solaris 10 / Sun Java System Web Server 7.0U2 environment. I have noticed that changes to static css or javascript files often do not take effect immediately, whereas changes to static html files always do. My best guess is that a default setting in the web server causes it to cache certain file types in order to provide reasonable performance out of the box. I don't have the admin server running--I'll need to edit the config files by hand. What change(s) can I make so that all of my css and javascript edits take effect immediately? Thanks!

• Why do Floatbox popups stop other animations when finished closing?

  I'm trying to essentially run a callback function when a Floatbox popup is closed via a hyperlink inside the popup. I want the page to scroll to the top and my login box to fade in. I'm using the following code: function showLogin() { jQuery('#header_no_theme_login_popup', parent.document.body).show(); window.parent.window.scrollTo(0,0); window.parent.fb.end(); } This works fine, but if I try to use jQuery fadeIn, the fade effect is truncated when the Floatbox popup finishes closing, leaving it with partial opacity. jQuery scrollTo doesn't seem to want to work at all.   I'm developing a javascript App that needs, as part of its functionality, for users to be able to update their Twitter status. The App is designed to work on mobiles, and as such I don't really want to be sending users all the way over to the Twitter site to sign in; they should just be able to pass their credentials to the app, and I'll handle all the signin. So I'm trying to use the Basic Auth with the restful API. • dhtmlxgrid: getting an xml string of grid data

  The dhtmlxgrid documentation is saying that I should be able to get a string with the grid data with the serialize feature. mygrid.setSerializationLevel(true,true); var myXmlStr = mygrid.serialize(); I'd like to use that feature to get the updated grid data. But I don't get the xml string. Is that feature not available in the open source version? If I could get a csv string, that would also be OK. • Internet Explorer loop bug when preloading images

  Hi Everyone I have created a JavaScript application that requires all images to be preloaded first. Everything works fine in Firefox but in Internet Explorer my loop skips the count at 19 and goes to 21. Has anyone come across this problem before and what causes it?
