• Where should I put the code for a Django admin action for a third party app?

  Hi, I'm new to Django. • Can a Client Link to My JavaScript, Hosted on a Different Domain?

  Is it possible for me to supply a client with a snippet of HTML which contains a reference to a javascript file that I host? They want to paste this HTML into their CMS, so that when their page loads, it'll load our content. I was under the impression that there was cross domain security preventing this from being possible. What if, instead of linking to the JavaScript, I gave them the snippet of HTML with the JavaScript already included so instead of <div> <!-- link to js --> </div> I gave them <div> $.get(/*url to my content*/); </div> Would that work?

Is it possible to combine the three(one directory and two files) as a continuous file writing and decompose it at another side to save the cost? I am limited to c language and Unix/Linux.   I'm working on a Grails web app that would be similar in access patterns to StackOverflow or MyLifeIsAverage - users can vote on entries, and their votes are used to sort a list of entries based on the number of votes. Votes can be placed while the sorted select queries are being performed. Since the selects would lock a large portion of the table, it seems that normal transaction locking would cause updates to take forever (given enough traffic). Has anyone worked on an app with a data access pattern such as this, and if so, did you find a way to allow these updates and selects to happen more or less concurrently? Does anyone know how sites like SO approach this? My thought was to make the sorted selects dirty reads, since it is acceptable if they're not completely up to date all of the time. This is my only idea for possibly improving performance of these selects and updates, but I thought someone might know a better way.

  Hi, I'm currently integrating facebook into my current app and I've succeeded in retrieving the access_token using the following code: url="#{url}?#{client_id}&#{client_secret}&#{code}&#{redirect_uri}&type=client_cred" agent = Mechanize.new page = agent.get(url) The page object above has a body which contains text something along the lines of access_token=XXXXX I just want to pull out the access_token value. I can get the entire string simply by writing: page.body But I was wondering is there a way to get the access_token value without resorting to regular expressions etc? Thanks.

• Can I turn off inline syntax checking in the Office 2003 VBA editor?

  As anybody who uses VBA in Office 2003 will know, it has the extremely frustrating tendency to do a syntax check every time you click off a line. For example, if I start writing a line of code, I might go > For Each application In And then think "crap, what's the application collection called?" So I'll hit "page up" to find it, and get (in this case) a "Compile Error". Can I turn this off?

I've converted an input string into a list of tokens, such as: ['(', '2', '.', 'x', '.', '(', '3', '-', '1', ')', '+', '4', ')', '/', '3', '.', 'x', '^', '2'] I want to be able to split the list into multiple lists, like the str.split('+') function. But there doesn't seem to be a way to do my_list.split('+'). Any ideas? Thanks!

Would especially like something similar to Joel. Something that is a bit edgy but informative. Pragmatic programmer has some key concepts but is a bit dry.

  Hi, I am writing an Android app, part of which will be a survey involving multiple pages of checkbox question and answers. I have created an activity to display the question and options (from the DB) and what I want to do now is when i press the "Next" button it should just reload the current activity with the next question set from the database. (the activity starts with survey.getNextQuestion() - so its just a case of refreshing the activity so it updates) Im sure this is a simple thing to do -any ideas? Thanks

• Does isolation frameworks (Moq, RhinoMock, etc) lead to test overspecification?

  In Osherove's great book "The Art of Unit Testing" one of the test anti-patterns is over-specification which is basically the same as testing the internal state of the object instead of some expected output. To my experience, using Isolation frameworks can cause the same unwanted side effects as testing internal behavior because one tends to only implement the behavior necessary to make your stub interact with the object under test. Now if your implementation changes later on (but the contract remains the same), your test will suddenly break because you are expecting some data from the stub which was not implemented. So what do you think is the best approach to counter this? 1) Implement your stubs/mocks fully, this has the negative side-effect of potentially making your test less readable and also specifying more than necessary to make your test pass. 2) Favor manual, fully implemented fakes. 3) Implement your stubs/fakes so that they make your test just pass, and then deal with the brittleness that this might introduce.

  I am writing a new multi-tenant WCF RIA application. I plan to have a shared database with separate SQL Server schema for each tenant. I would like to use NHibernate for object-ralational mapping. Configuration of SQL Server schema in mapping classes doesn't help because it is static and would need one set of mapping classes for each tenant. Is it possible to dynamically configure ISession which SQL Server schema should be used for mapping objects to tables?

• Finding easily parseable chemical element data

  I am writing an application that needs simple data found (mostly) on the periodic table of elements, such as atomic mass, atomic number, state, etc. However, I would prefer not to manually enter this data. I managed to find the NIST website (http://www.nist.gov/pml/data/edi.cfm) with all of the data I need, but not in a downloadable format. Where can I find this data? Preferably, it would be in an XML/YAML/JSON/other documented format, however, any format would be helpful.
