• Should Javascript's "for in" construct iterate the length property?

  I'm making a bookmarklet, but I've encountered some wierd behaviour in IE8. The code causing the problem is this: var els = document.getElementById("my_id").getElementsByTagName("*"); for(var i in els) { alert(i+","+els[i]) } The first thing that is alerted is "length, n". This isn't the case in chrome: just in IE8. Interestingly, it seems to behave differently depending on whether the code goes in the console/address bar or the page itself. Is this standard behaviour?

• How should I interpret site analytics with 11 pageviews in an 3 second visit?

  I'm using google analytics and recently i've noticed some weird trends going on. I have a lot of visits that last mere seconds but mark several page views... more than a normal human can see in that range of time. A specific case is that the only visitor from Ireland i've had until now recorded 11 pageviews in a 3 second visit. Are these crawlers? Shouldn't google analytics filter those out?

I this case I can move them, but I want to be able to drag them like in MS Office (drag a toolbar from top and put it left, right or at bottom of the window and save it's position)....   I have multiple textboxes with set character limits that together make up a code. There is value in the boxes being separated for a variety of reasons. I want to be able to paste a complete code in the first textbox and have it automatically populate all the textboxes. Is there a way to do this in javascript or a jquery library for this case? Currently I'm using jQuery autotab on each textbox and I'd prefer to keep that functionality.

  Not sure whats going on here, or what could be the integer in this case.   Hi, I'm wondering what type of threshold would work well for distinguishing features that are very small (small in the xy sense) in comparison with the full spread, if that makes sense. The graythresh() function in Matlab that uses the Otsu method doesn't work too well for my data. Otsu is a clustering method where I think the # of pixels should be similar in each class, which is not the case for me so when I employ it I get a threshold that is way too small and falls well within a lot of the background noise that remains even after filtering.

  Let's say I have an array in Matlab: x = [1 1 1 2 2 2 3 3 3 3 2 2 3 3 3 1 1 1 1 1 2 2 2 2 3 3 3] I want the indices of the most recent set of consecutive '1's. In this case, I want the answer: answer = [16 17 18 19 20] % (which should correspond to the last sequence of 1's) I need an automated way to do this in Matlab, that will work with any size arrays, always giving me the indices for the last set of consecutive 1s. Any suggestions?

  I have a FOR loop like this: FOR k = 1,216 DO atom = G[,0::(215+k)] END What I would like to be able to do is to store in memory the array for each atom, say, atom_k and then call these different variables to perform further operations outside the FOR loop. Conceptually, I want to label the "atom" variable with the "k" counter somewhat like this: FOR k = 1,216 DO atom(k) = G[,0::(215+k)] END Of course, this doesn't work because "k" is no longer a label in this case. Does anyone know?

These calculations may be actually applied to integers too, but there are no C++-like templates in Java and I don't want to duplicate the implementation code, so I simply use "double" version for ints. Does JVM spec guarantees the correctness of integer operations such a <=,=, +, -, *, and / (in case of remainder==0) when the operations are emulated as corresponding floating point ops? (Any integer, of course, has reasonable size to be represented in double's mantissa)

  This is either trivial or runs counter to the philosophy of how make should be used, but I'd like to have a command line that reads as "make debug" rather than "make DEBUG=1". I tried creating a phony target called debug that did nothing except set the DEBUG variable, but then there was a difference between "make debug build" and "make build debug"--namely that in one case, the variable got set after the build happened. Is there a way to give certain targets precedence? Thanks for your help.

So I need to do two things. 1) How can I create a new log file each day? The log file will be have the name in a format like MMDDYYYY.txt 2) How can I create it just after midnight in case it is running into all hours of the night?
