• Double hop SQL delegation not working

  I've been trying to diagnose this for some time, and unfortunately Im still getting the dreaded anonymous logon issue when trying to connect to a sql db as a domain user. Steps taken: App Pool created with delegation service acct Site / Virtual dir running with Integrated Windows auth only Made sure site itself can use kerberos KB 215383 Service acct added to IIS_WPG group Service acct added to "act as part of operating system" under Local Security settings Service acct added to Log on as service under Local Security Settings HTTP SPN set for web address + service account (and FQDN) MSSQLSvc SPN set for sql box and domain acct sql is running as Trust for delegation turned on service acct, specified services, and sql service acct After all this, Im still getting the exact same error from when I started. Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'. This has advanced my balding by at least 5 years so far. I would greatly appreciate any additional tips on diagnosing or setting up.

• How can I reduce the time taken to login by postponing/delaying some startup applications?

  I have setup some applications to startup on each login (e.g., redshift-gtk, gtg) automatically but after adding these to startup applications (System -> Preferences -> Startup Applications) obviously the time taken to login has increased. Due to all this the time it takes for my panels, desktop etc to appear is too long - until which I am forced to wait. I don't need these apps to be available immediately, but it would be good if they startup eventually, meanwhile the ubuntu menu/panel is available for running other apps that I might need to. I tried using at command, with the intention of editing all startup applications to put the commands in the at queue, but this didn't work since the apps don't get the necessary environment variables (like DISPLAY). Is this what nice command is used for? Any other ideas how I can accomplish this? If possible, I would like to avoid editing the startup applications commands, since this would mean a lot of effort to replicate on other machines I use.

• Plan variable and call dependencies

  I'd like to write down the design of my program to understand the dependencies and calls better. I know there are class diagrams which show inheritance and attribute variables. However I'd also like to document the input parameters to method functions and in particular which calls the methods function executes inside (e.g. on the input parameters). Also sometimes it might be useful to show how actual objects are connected (if there is a standard structure). This way I can have a better understanding of the modules and design before starting to program. Can you suggest a method to do this software design? It should be one-to-one to programming code structure so that I really notice all quirks beforehand (instead of high-level design where thing are hard to implement without further work). Maybe some special diagram or tool or a combination? It is static dependency and call design rather than time dependent execution monitoring. (I use Python if you have any specialized recommendations).

  I'm a graphic design student hoping to pursue a career as a video game artist. However, I want to do some game development as a hobby. I'd like to develop games for the desktop or mobile phones. The only programming experience I have is that I took an intro to programming with java class in which I learned how to make web applets using java's swing library. It was awful. I think the only things I took from the class was what OOP is and how to work with variables and data types and some methods. I also learned some actionscript myself which was fun unfortunately my flash tutorial expired and it's too expensive to buy;( What I was looking to do is learn one programming language and build a game with it without having to go through so many hoops and with minimum cost. If it's possible. I would love to learn C++, but I read it's not best for a beginning programmer. What programming languages or maybe software kits/platforms would you recommend?

• Microsoft sublanguage string to locale identifier

  I can't seem to find a way to convert, or find, a local identifier from a sublanguage string. This site shows the mappings: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd318693(v=VS.85).aspx I want the user to enter a sublanguage string, such as "France (FR)" and to get the local identifier from this, which in this case would be 0x0484. Or the other way around, if a user enters 0x0480 then to return French (FR). Has anyone encountered this problem before and can point me in the right direction? Otherwise I'm going to be writing a few mapping statements to hard code it and maintain future releases if anything changes. BTW, I'm coding in C++ for Windows platform. Cheers

  I'm using a flash rotating banner in my website which takes images and descriptions from an XML file. I do changes to my XML very often... but in my local machine, the banner takes a day or two to get updated. Although I can clear my local machine's cache, the problem still remains for other users who visit my web page.. is there a programmatic way in flash or in html to overcome this problem ? Maybe a server configuration? Please help me with this.. • How to run an executable as a system service?

  I've got a file and data distribution application written in .NET 2.0 I've written similar to Steam. This application will need to run in Windows 7 and will need to be able to run and install applications that require administrator rights. However the users will not have admin rights. My thought was to run the application as a Local System Service. I figured by doing this the application could perform admin rights actions (registry edits, launching apps, etc) when the user isn't an admin. Are my assumptions correct? What steps do I need to take to have this app install as a Local System Service? An Administrator will be installing the application but it will be run by a user without Administrator rights. • PHP Serialization Will not work correctly.

  Hi, I am developing and doing all the testing on a local machine using PHP Version 5.3.3-1ubuntu9.1 version. The host machine is PHP Version 5.2.15. All the seriliaze arguments are identical. The problems is when i try to login the user on my test local machine i do the following : $user->getByUserId($results['id'],$db); $_SESSION['user'] = serialize($user); which retrieved me and serialize the user. and i just load it back when ever i detect that a session exists $user->LoadFromObject(unserialize($_SESSION['user'])); This works perfectly on my test machine. Just transfered the files on the host to see if i can get a beta version out but i keep on getting Warning: unserialize() expects parameter 1 to be string, object given in /home/gamerent/public_html/beta/includes/header.php on line 19 i have noticed that if i echo the $_SESSION['user'] in both system the test will indeed display me the serializated one but the main one will just show me the object and will not serialize the $user

• Android MapView High Res tiles?

  I have created a simple map app that shows the local garage sales in my town. It was simple enough to create and I parse out the Google Maps (html) xml doc that the local paper uses on their google maps mashup on their website. I have noticed that the Map Tiles used in the MapView class are not as high-res as the tiles used in the real Android Google Maps app (I have a Droid). I have searched the docs and google, but I cannot find any info on this. Actually, I can't even find anyone mentioning this, which surprises me and makes me think I am missing something simple. Is this a case of Google making the APIs available, but at a lower quality, or am I missing some setting that enables higher quality map tiles?

  I am trying to create a table in my MS SQL database for Languages. I want to store an English name of Language and a local name of language in the database. i.e. Language, Language(local) English, English German, Deutsch Italian, Italiano Japanese, ??? ... ... I have 279 languages that I want to import, but when I import it shows '?????' for some like japanese, Russian and arabic etc The database Collation is Latin1_General_CI_AS. I would also like advise on multilingual websites; if i have a database of product descriptions and I want to have translation in multiple languages, should I go for separate databases or Can I have translation in one databse? (I prefer not to duplicate data!). Anything else to make sure users are able to write comments in different languages (char encoding on web?) and can be stored in database.

  Hi All: I have been looking for a SmartGWT example that would show me how to build a File Browser widget that takes the files from the local server's root directory. The user would be shown the files through the browser which they could then select to perform some processing operations. So far I have thought of using SmartGWT's Tree-Data Binding-Load from Local Data Widget and then grabbing a list of the directories using: new File("\").listFiles(); My Question is: Is there a better way to do this? Has someone already thought of this and has an example of their code that I can see? PS: I'm fairly new to GWT and Web Services but fairly competent with Java. When I attempted doing this method with my GLM(model loading library by nate robins) model, I get a segmentation fault in the debug, so I figured that it doesnt like the coordinate variables of the model. If i use blender to export my model as a collision file, what type of file should I use? I have heard of a .bullet exporter, but i dont know hot to integrate this python script into my Blender 2.5 program.

In my script I want to pass the results from bc into another variable say var3 so that I can work with var3 for other calculations.   As I had feared some of our old VB6 projects are not playing nice with Windows 7. Some of our customers have already upgraded and our one product is returning this error every time you run the executable: The procedure entry point_except_handler4_common could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll First thing I tried was creating a .local in the folder so it uses all the DLL and OCX files packaged with the product. That didn't do anything, though I'm not sure if this .local trick still works in Win7. Tried turning on compatibility for several previous versions of Windows, that had no effect either. Hopefully someone else has some more suggestions, as my Google-Fu has failed me on this one.

  Given the following method: def some_method :value end The following statements work as I would expect: some_method || :other # => :value x = some_method || :other # => :value But the behaviour of the following statement perplexes me: some_method = some_method || :other # => :other It creates a local variable called some_method as expected, and subsequent calls to some_method return the value of that local variable. But why does it assign :other rather than :value? I understand that it's probably not a smart thing to do, and can see how it might be ambiguous, but I thought the right-hand-side of the assignment should be evaluated prior to the assignment being considered... I've tested this in Ruby 1.8.7 and Ruby 1.9.2 with identical results. Cheers! Paul

  In Team Build 2008, the Drop Location for a build is no longer specified in the .proj file, and instead is stored in the database and maintained in the GUI tool. The GUI tool only accepts a network path as a drop location (i.e. \\server\share) and will not accept a local path. Our build server also hosts the dropped files, so it seems that forcing a file copy operation to go through the network share introduces a lot of lag time when copying a large number of files. I would like to override this feature so that I can specify a local directory for drop location, but I can't figure out how.

I want to take the path "C:\Users\Jim\AppData\Local\Temp\" and remove the "Temp\" part. Leaving just "C:\Users\Jim\AppData\Local\" I have solved my problem with the code below but this assumes that the "Temp" folder is actually called "Temp". Is there a better way? • Powershell and some simple string manipulation

  need some help with building a powershell script to help with some basic string manipulation. I know just enough powershell to get in trouble, but can't figure out the syntax or coding to make this work. I have a text file that looks like this - Here is your list of servers: server1 server2.domain.local server3 Total number of servers: 3 I need to take that text file and drop the first and last lines (Always first and last.) Then I need to take every other line and basically turn it into a CSV file. The final output should be a text file that looks like this - server1,server2.domain.local,server3 Any suggestions on where to start? Thanks!
