  Consider this table on SQL Server wordID aliasID value =========================== 0 0 'cat' 1 0 'dog' 2 0 'argh' 2 1 'ugh' WordID is a id of a word which possibly has aliases. AliasID determines a specific alias to a word. So above 'argh' and 'ugh' are aliases to each other. I'd like to be able to insert new words which do not have any aliases in the table without having to query the table for a free wordID value first. Inserting value 'hey' without specifying a wordID or an aliasID, a row looking like this would be created: wordID aliasID value =========================== 3 0 'hey' Is this possible and how?

• ASP.NET: aggregating validators in a user control

  I am developing a web application where I would like to perform a set of validations on a certain field (an account name in the specific case). I need to check that the value is not empty, matches a certain pattern and is not already used. I tried to create a UserControl that aggregates a RequiredFieldValidator, a RegexValidator and a CustomValidator, then I created a ControlToValidate property like this: public partial class AccountNameValidator : System.Web.UI.UserControl { public string ControlToValidate { get { return ViewState["ControlToValidate"] as string; } set { ViewState["ControlToValidate"] = value; AccountNameRequiredFieldValidator.ControlToValidate = value; AccountNameRegexValidator.ControlToValidate = value; AccountNameUniqueValidator.ControlToValidate = value; } } } However, if I insert the control on a page and set ControlToValidate to some control ID, when the page loads I get an error that says Unable to find control id 'AccountName' referenced by the 'ControlToValidate' property of 'AccountNameRequiredFieldValidator', which makes me think that the controls inside my UserControl cannot resolve correctly the controls in the parent page. So, I have two questions: 1) Is it possible to have validator controls inside a UserControl validate a control in the parent page? 2) Is it correct and good practice to "aggregate" multiple validator controls in a UserControl? If not, what is the standard way to proceed?

In other words, without adding x:Class to the top of Generic.xaml and thus creating a code-behind file for it, which I assume you wouldn't want to do, how do you handle events for elements in your xaml that don't have a Command property (which is just about everything other than a Button)? Should LooklessControl have it's own XAML file (much like what you get when you create a new UserControl) associated with it that Generic.xaml just pulls in as a MergedDictionar as its default template? Or is there some other acknowledged way to do what I'm trying to do?

  Hello I am getting a weird error when trying to use a Java map in Scala. This is the snippet of code val value:Double = map.get(name) if (value eq null) map.put(name, time) else map.put(name, value + time) the map is defined as val map=new ConcurrentHashMap[String,Double] and this is the error I am getting error: type mismatch; found : Double required: ?{val eq: ?} Note that implicit conversions are not applicable because they are ambiguous: both method double2Double in object Predef of type (Double)java.lang.Double and method doubleWrapper in object Predef of type (Double)scala.runtime.RichDouble are possible conversion functions from Double to ?{val eq: ?} if (value eq null) map.put(name, time) I am new to Scala so I am having a hard time parsing the stacktrace. • PHP & MySQL - Deleting table rows problem.

  Okay my script is supposed to delete a specific users case which is stored in 2 MySQL tables but for some reason when the user deletes the specific case it deletes all the users cases I only want it to delete the case the user selects. I was wondering how can I fix this problem? Thanks in advance for helping.   Hi, I've always used Spring's dependency injection to get datasource objects and use them in my DAOs, but now, I have to write an app without that.   Hello I have test's using unittest. I have a test suite and I am trying to pass variables through into each of the tests. The below code shows the test suite used. class suite(): def suite(self): #Function stores all the modules to be tested modules_to_test = ('testmodule1', 'testmodule2') alltests = unittest.TestSuite() for module in map(__import__, modules_to_test): alltests.addTest(unittest.findTestCases(module)) return alltests It calls tests, I would like to know how to pass variables into the tests from this class. An example test script is below: class TestThis(unittest.TestCase): def runTest(self): assertEqual('1', '1') class TestThisTestSuite(unittest.TestSuite): # Tests to be tested by test suite def makeTestThisTestSuite(): suite = unittest.TestSuite() suite.addTest("TestThis") return suite def suite(): return unittest.makeSuite(TestThis) if __name__ == '__main__': unittest.main() So from the class suite() I would like to enter in a value to change the value that is in assert value. Eg. assertEqual(self.value, '1'). I have tried sys.argv for unittest and it doesn't seem to work. Thanks for any help.

• Flash video player doesn't play after rewriting a url

  Hi! I recently started a new job working on a content management system. One of the jobs was to implement url rewriting, which i've done, but for some reason the URL rewriting has killed the ability to play flv files through FLVPlayer_Progressive. An example can be seen below: Working if you then follow the link on the menu and go to Campaigns It's a Living Thing you can see how it's not working when the url is being re-written. • ProgressBar not updating on change to Maximum through binding

The style came from http://mattserbinski.com/blog/look-and-feel-progressbar and the DebuggingConverter is a no-op converter that prints the value, type and parameter to the Console. I have verified that the converter for the Maximum is being called when my NumTubes property is changed. Basically, the ProgressBar won't redraw until the Value changes. So, if I have 2 tubes and 1 is failed, even if I add 20 more tubes, the bar is still half filled until the NumFailed changes, then the proportion is updated. I've tried adding spurious notifications of the NumFailed property, but that apparently doesn't work since the value didn't change. Ideas?

  Hi there, Can anyone help? I have some code that is shared between 2 projects. The code points to a model which basically is a collection of properties that comes from a db. Problem being is that some properties use nullable types in 1 model and the other it doesn't Really the dbs should use the same but they don't .. so for example there is a property called IsAvailble which uses "bool" in one model and the other it uses bool? (nullable type) so in my code i do the following objContract.IsAvailble.Value ? "Yes" : "No" //notice the property .VALUE as its a bool? (nullable type) but this line will fail on model that uses a standard "bool" (not nullable) as there is no property .VALUE on types that are NOT nullable Is there some kind of helper class that i check if the property is a nullable type and i can return .Value .. otherwise i just return the property. Anybody have a solution for this?

Could someone explain me why : If I have in an ObservableCollection, twice (or more time) an item with the same value, then the selections of those values in the ListBox won't work properly ? In fact, what the ListBox is doing when I click on an item(Even in single item selection) : It selects the first item from the ObservableCollection collection with a matching value. so in the case if multiple items with same value are in the collection, then only the first one will be selected !

  I'm pulling my hair on this because it should be simple, but can't get it to do the right thing. What's the best practice way of doing the following I've created a custom component that extends <s:Label> so now the Label has additional properties color2 color3 value which can be called like this and are used in the skin. <s:CustomLabel text="Some text" color2="0x939202" color3="0x999999" value="4.5" /> If I don't supply these parameters, I'd like some defaults to be set. So far I've had some success, but it doesn't work 100% of the time, which leads me to think that I'm not following best practices when setting those defaults. I do it now like this: [Bindable] private var myColor2:uint = 0x000000; [Bindable] private var myColor3:uint = 0x000000; [Bindable] private var myValue:Number = 10.0; then in the init function, I do a variation of this to set the default myValue = hostComponent.value; myValue = (hostComponent.value) ? hostComponent.value : 4.5; Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, depending on the type of variable I'm trying to set. I eventually decided to read them as Strings then convert them to the desired type, but it seems that this also works half the time.

• How can I prompt for input using Selenium/Webdriver and use the result?

  I would like to allow for user input and make some decisions based on it. If I do this: driver.execute_script("prompt('Enter smth','smth')") I get a nice prompt, but I cannot use it's value. Is there any way of showing an input box to the user, and use the value typed there? • Python TKinter connect variable to entry widget

  Hi everyone, I'm trying to associate a variable with a Tkinter entry widget, in a way that: Whenever I change the value (the "content") of the entry, mainly by typing something into it, the variable automatically gets assigned the value of what I've typed. Without me having to push a button "Update value " or something like that first. Whenever the variable gets changed (by some other part of the programm), I want the entry value displayed to be adjusted automatically. I believe that this could work via the textvariable. I read the example on http://effbot.org/tkinterbook/entry.htm, but it is not exactly helping me for what I have in mind. I have a feeling that there is a way of ensuring the first condition with using entry's "validate". Any ideas? Thank you for your input! Sano

  Hey there, this is part of a question i got in class, im at the final stretch but this has become a major problem. In it im given a certain value which is called the "gold value" and it is 40.5, this value changes in input. and i have these constants const int RUBIES_PER_DIAMOND = 5; // relative values. * const int EMERALDS_PER_RUBY = 2; const int GOLDS_PER_EMERALDS = 5; const int SILVERS_PER_GOLD = 4; const int COPPERS_PER_SILVER = 5; const int DIAMOND_VALUE = 50; // gold values. * const int RUBY_VALUE = 10; const int EMERALD_VALUE = 5; const float SILVER_VALUE = 0.25; const float COPPER_VALUE = 0.05; which means that basically for every diamond there are 5 rubies, and for every ruby there are 2 emeralds. So on and so forth. and the "gold value" for every diamond for example is 50 (diamond value = 50) this is how much one diamond is worth in golds. my problem is converting 40.5 into these diamonds and ruby values. I know the answer is 4rubies and 2silvers but how do i write the algorithm for this so that it gives the best estimate for every goldvalue that comes along??

• WPF - Only want one expander open at a time

  I have a UserControl with a templated grouped listbox with expanders and only want one expander open at any time. I have browsed through the site but haven't found anything except binding the IsExpanded to IsSelected which isn't quite what I want. I am trying to put some code in the Expanded event that would loop through Expanders and close all the ones that aren't the expander passed in the Expanded event. I can't seem to figure out how to get at them. I've tried ListBox.Items.Groups but didn't see how to get at them and tried ListBox.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromItem (or Index) but nothing came back. • xVal and Regular Expression Match

  I am using xVal to validate my forms in asp.net MVC 1.0 Not sure why my regular expression isn't validating correctly. It validates with the value of "12345" It validates with the value of "12345 " It validates with the value of "12345 -" It validates with the value of "12345 -1" It validates with the value of "12345 -12" ... etc For a zip code I expect one of the two patterns: 12345 or 12345 -1234 Here are the two regex I tried: (\d{5})((( -)(\d{4}))?) • I need an abstract field !

  I know abstract fields do not exist in java. I also read this question but the solutions proposed won't solve my problem. Maybe there is no solution, but it's worth asking :) Problem I have an abstract class that does an operation in the constructor depending on the value of one of its fields. The problem is that the value of this field will change depending on the subclass. How can I do so that the operation is done on the value of the field redefined by the subclass ? If I just "override" the field in the subclass the operation is done on the value of the field in the abstract class. I'm open to any solution that would ensure that the operation will be done during the instantiation of the subclass (ie putting the operation in a method called by each subclass in the constructor is not a valid solution, because someone might extend the abstract class and forget to call the method). Also, I don't want to give the value of the field as an argument of the constructor. Is there any solution to do that, or should I just change my design ?

• Codeigniter: Base_url doesn't seem to be working

  I have developed a simple site that fetches tweets from the Twitter public timeline, caches them for 60 seconds and so on. I have recently moved hosts from Hostgator to Mediatemple and my site was previously working fine on Hostgator. My application doesn't use a database connection, nor does it use any form of flat-file database either. Tweets are cached in an XML file stored in the root directory, not that most of that is important. The url helper is being included as can be seen below (this is my helpers line from autoload.php): $autoload['helper'] = array('url'); I have also removed my index.php file from the URL using .htaccess directives and once again this was previously working on Hostgator (see my .htaccess code below): RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^(application) - [F,L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule .* index.php/$0 [PT,L] In my home.php view file which is in the views folder inside of application, I am using the function base_url() which was previously working on Hostgator inside of my view files and appending it a base href value in my header: <base href="<?php echo base_url(); ?>" /> Here is what my base_url value looks like in the config.php file: $config['base_url'] = "http://threetune.com/"; Although what appears to be happening is that the base_url is not to be seen at all. It doesn't appear to be echoing out the value of base_url as it appears to be empty for some reason. What makes things weirder is that I have a link in another view file called 'fetch.php' and for some reason it appears to be stripping out the value (XSS filtering is off): <a href="threetune/show"><img src="assets/images/cookie.jpg" /></a> The threetune/show part is not to be seen and I only see an empty href value like this <a href=""><img src="assets/images/cookie.jpg" /></a> Can anyone possibly see anything wrong that I may have done, some kind of Mediatemple server limitation or PHP.ini flag that needs to be set?
