    I have a /root/.my.cnf file which stores the mysql root user's password: [client] password = "my password" When I log in as system root and enter mysql, I get a passwordless login: myuser@local:$ sudo su root@local:$ mysql mysql> But when I try to do the same just using sudo, I get access denied: myuser@local:$ sudo mysql ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO) How can I get sudo mysql to log me in as the mysql root user, without entering a password?

  • How to get Faster RDP

    We are using Win 2008 R2 and connecting to it from Win7 boxes. The RDP is faster then before but we want to know if their are any other solutions that will make it faster. Due to licensing issue we got a software that multiple people need to access (not all at the same time) and the only way i can find is to install on a server and give RDP access to users. Is their a faster remote desktop tool then RDP ? Thanks Jay

  • Will Python 3.0's backwards-incompatibility affect adoption?

    I visited Slashdot this morning to find out that Python 3.0 has been released. I know C# and Perl, but have wanted to learn Python for some time, especially after I saw its ease of use to create useful tools, not to mention its use in game scripting. My question is, how does the intentionally backwards-incompatible release of Python 3.0 affect adoption, and should I learn Python 2? Or should I take the dive and learn Python 3.0 first, and wait for the libraries to be ported?

This would mean that every data store provider would have to implement the JCR API for his own data store. The question is JCR implemented for MySQL? Can we use the JCR API over MySQL? I want to truly abstract out where i store my content, so that tomorrow if i don't want to use a relational DB i can swap it out with the file system with ease.

  • How can I create a short cut to a directory on a Windows Phone device?

    When I plug in my Windows mobile it appears in My Computer as a portable device but the data I need regular access to is many sub directories in. Is it possible to create a shortcut or access a path on a mobile device directly? When I open the properties of the folder I want it says the location starts with "Computer\Name of Phone\Phone\". The problem is using that as a path to navigate straight to the files doesn't work. Thanks for your help.

    How do you delete one or more fax jobs from the Job History on a Xerox Workcentre Pro 123? The Xerox Workcentre Pro 123 is a combination copier, printer, scanner and fax machine, and it keeps a history of the numbers dialed for sending faxes, including any long distance access codes that were dialed. In order to keep these access codes private, I'd like to remove these jobs from the job history, or alternatively clear the entire job history. Unfortunately the User Guide and the Quick Reference Guide don't explain how to do this.

  • Auto populate Outlook with other users' calendars

    In Outlook 2007, when in Calendar view, there's a category (group) of calendars on the left hand bar titled "People's Calendars". We're migrating from a system where all employees have access to read and write to all other employees' calendars (via a 3rd party Web Calendar). Is it possible, from an admin level, to auto-populate this People's Calendars category in everyone's Outlook with all the employees in the company, and grant everyone read / write access to everyone else's calendars?     Hi, I'm trying to set multiple web sites up in an IIS 6. I've got a working virtual site residing under the default web site, but if I create a new web site in the IIS and asign it a host header value, let it point to the very same file structure as in the prevoiusly mentioned site and finally asign windows integrated security only to the site - I still cannot log in to the new site using MSIE 6 or 8 but FF 3.5 works fine.     Which of IDE's I'm more likely to meet in an office? Borland or Visual Studio? I wouldn't ask this question here (I could use google and type which is better) only for a reason that in my previous cariere as an engineer I worked (and most of my friends) all the time on AutoCAD not on Microstation even though Microstation had always been better software (stability, conforming to standards, ease of use etc.).     On Windows I can access files directly from the browser ( or at least I have it configured currently, forget if it was native like this ) with the file:// protocol, so I can access files from say the C drive.     I have a situation here. I have an intrusion detection system and it constantly alerts me that a remote host is accessing our AD's registry remotely. Our remote hosts are mainly Windows XP and our ADs are W2K8. The remote hosts access them over SMB port 445 Is it normal for Windows hosts to access AD's remote registry? My colleagues confirmed with me that both host and AD is clean from virus with endpoint protection enabled. Thanks.

  • Snow Leopard not reading NTFS

    I just upgraded a brand new Macbook Pro that I bought with 10.5 installed to Snow Leopard. After doing the upgrade I am trying to access NTFS partitions on my external hard drive but they are just not showing up. I went ahead and installed Windows 7 using Parallels, and I can access the NTFS partitions from within Windows, but not from Mac OS X. I know that Snow Leopard should be able to at least read NTFS drives, so what is going on here?

    I'm setting up a development machine which runs Ubuntu 12.04 and KVM for virtualization. I have a guest running Ubuntu 12.04 which can be accessed from the host via its IP address which is assigned by libvirt. The guest can also access the internet, no problem there. However, now I want to setup PPTP so I can connect to the host (from my workstation running Windows 7) and directly access guests without relying on SSH port forwarding. I can connect from my W7-machine to the host (PPTP), but I cannot access any virtual machines (which are accessable from the host directly).
