    I am trying to share a domain share so only a specific machine with a specific user can connect. I have tried all the normal ways of actually adding the computer to the domain and then using its unc to map a user but to no avail. Is this possible? How do you do this?

    Hi I have a strange question regarding NAT using iptables. When I do SNAT in a postrouting chain in NAT table at the end of the rule should I give -J ACCEPT? I see counters on the postrouting rule getting incremented but no packet leaving the machine. So does it mean the packet is DROPPED automatically?

    I have a Linux machine running as a bridge simulating various network conditions. I use tc for this. Introducing delays or packet loss is quite simple but I got into trouble trying to configure bandwidth limiting. Can you, please, show me how to limit all the traffic going through my bridge without any special rules and condition, simply limit it to 1Mb/s? Thanks.   • Switching to Linux and Keeping Windows With VirtualBox

    Hi guys, I'm currently running a Vista machine, but would like to switch over to Linux, Ubuntu in particular. My question is can I switch over to Ubuntu, keep my Windows partition and use VirtualBox to access the pre-existing Windows partition? Or does VirtualBox require me to create a new install for Guest operating systems? If not, are there any other free alternatives to accomplish this? Thanks

  • ZFS Recover from Faulted Pool State

    I have a six disk ZFS raidz1 pool and had a recent failure requiring a disk replacement. No problem normally, but this time my server hardware died before I could do the replacement (but after and unrelated to the drive failure as far as I can tell). I was able to get another machine from a friend to rebuild the system, but in the process of moving my drives over I had to swap their cables around a bunch until I got the right configuration where the remaining 5 good disks were seen as online. This process seems to have generated some checksum errors for the pool/raidz. I have the 5 remaining drives set up now and a good drive installed and ready to take the place of the drive that died. However, since my pool state is FAULTED I'm unable to do the replacement. root@zfs:~# zpool replace tank 1298243857915644462 /dev/sdb cannot open 'tank': pool is unavailable Is there any way to recover from this error? I would think that having 5 of the 6 drives online would be enough to rebuild the right data, but that doesn't seem to be enough now. First I tried: zpool import -f -R /tank -N -o readonly=on -F tank That produced this error immediately: cannot import 'tank': I/O error Destroy and re-create the pool from a backup source. I added the '-X' option to the above command to try to make it check the transaction log. I let that run for about 48 hours before giving up because it had completely locked up my machine (I was unable to log in locally or via the network). Now I'm trying a simple zpool import tank command and that seems to run for a while with no output. I'll leave it running overnight to see if it outputs anything.

  • Share PC over network

    I have a server installed on one local Win7 machine (say as 192.168.2.14:8080/myAPP) and I want to access that server from different computer (say ip as 192.168.2.16). Even they are connected to same network I can't access server from other computer. I guess the problem is in firewall. This is working when I disable firewall and not working when I allow certain ports in windows firewall but keeping firewall on (As a rule to allow incoming connections).

    I have a NFS Server: usanfsd01 And a remote machine: usafssd01 I tried mounting a directory from usafssd01 onto usanfsd01 by adding the following line to /etc/fstab as root usanfsdo1:/home/dblogs /home/data/dblogs nfs rw 0 0 And when I run the following command to see if NFS is exporting the share, it's not shown showmount -e usanfsdo1 Can someone please help?   • Why can't I share a folder on Vista?

    On Windows Vista, I right-click on a folder, Properties, Sharing tab, and either "Advanced Sharing" or "Share"-"Share" causes an error: Windows File Sharing This program will not run Access is denied. Close My user account is an "administrator" on this machine. I think this behavior changed since my computer was added to the new domain recently. I have other folders shared (from long ago), and they continue to be shared just fine.

    To restore an SQL Server 2008 database, I would lile to be able to just do something like this in powershell: ./restore.ps1 DatabaseName.bak Then the powershell script would by convention restore it to a database with name "DatabaseName". It would disconnect any user connected to this database so that it can restore the DB. It would store the mdf and ldf in the default location. This would mainly be while developing on my personal machine. Just a quick way to restore a DB. Anyone has such a script? Thanks

    I just bought a new solid state drive, and I'd like to copy all of the files and setup from my current Mac OS X hard drive onto it. What is the best way to do this? I have a 1TB external hard drive, my drive backed up on Time Machine, and Snow Leopard on a DMG, but no external mount for the SSD, and no install DVD (it's at my parents house, promise). I'm familiar with the command line and booting up Mac OS X from a hard drive.

    I hid one of the accounts on my computer from the welcome screen by adding it to the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList I was hoping I'd be able to log in to this account by hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del on the welcome screen, but Windows 7 completely ignores this. I want to enable UEFI-boot in the VM. I "Enable EFI" in the System / Motherboard settings for the VM. I make sure the Ubuntu Server 12.04 ISO is inserted when I boot. And yet I get stuck in the UEFI boot console when I start the VM. How do I install Ubuntu Server 12.04 in a UEFI boot-enabled Virtualbox machine?

I tried installing Google Chrome on it, and the error I get is: Google Update installation failed with error 0x80040890 It is genuine Windows with SP3. I also tried using VMware player, but it has the same problem. When the same Windows is installed on a real machine, there is no problem. Any ideas what might be the cause?

"A list of servers could not be collected from Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS). Ensure that your network is functioning correctly and that this computer can access AD DS." Our network is an Windows Server 2003 network with all of the services running fine. I can't run this from either a machine or a server. Any idea where we should start?
