  Alright guys, i really hurt my brain over this one and i'm curious if you guys can give me any pointers towards the right direction i should be taking. The situation is this: Lets say, i have a collection of strings (let it be clear that the pattern of this strings is unknown. For a fact, i can say that the string contain only signs from the ASCII table and therefore, i dont have to worry about weird Chinese signs). For this example, i take the following collection of strings (note that the strings dont have to make any human sence so dont try figguring them out :)): "[001].[FOO].[TEST] - 'foofoo.test'", "[002].[FOO].[TEST] - 'foofoo.test'", "[003].[FOO].[TEST] - 'foofoo.test'", "[001].[FOO].[TEST] - 'foofoo.test.sample'", "[002].[FOO].[TEST] - 'foofoo.test.sample'", "-001- BAR.[TEST] - 'bartest.xx1", "-002- BAR.[TEST] - 'bartest.xx1" Now, what i need to have is a way of finding logical groups (and subgroups) of these set of strings, so in the above example, just by rational thinking, you can combine the first 3, the 2 after that and the last 2. First of, i thought of creating a huge set of regexes which would parse most known patterns but the amount of different patterns is just to huge that this isn't realistic. Another think i thought of was parsing each indidual word within a string (so strip all non alphabetic or numeric characters and split by those), and if X% matches, i can assume the strings belong to the same group. (where X wil probably be around 80/90). However, i find the area of speculation kinda big. For example, when matching strings with each 20 words, the change of hitting above 80% is kinda big (that means that 4 words can differ), however when matching only 8 words, 2 words at most can differ. My question to you is, what would be a logical approach in the above situation? Thanks in advance!

• How to set up TightVNC Java viewer index.html on web server?

  I've got the Java TightVNC viewer applet set up with the provided index.html on my Mac OS X 10.6.3 with web sharing enabled. Using a remote computer I was able to get to the webpage but I only see a white box with an X (for error?) that represents where the viewer is supposed to be. Any ideas on how to get this to work? I've tried to set the port (in index.html) to 5900 and 5901, none worked. Are any of these the default VNC port for Mac OS X 10.6.3? Also, I've activated Screen Sharing and Remote Login in System Preferences, allowing VNC viewers to connect.   On android platforms (confirmed on ICS), if a content provider dies while a client is in the middle of a query (i.e. has a open cursor) the framework decides to kill the client processes holding a open cursor. Here is a logcat output when i tried this with a download manager query that sleeps after doing a query. The "sleep" was to reproduce the problem. you can imagine it happening in a regular use case when the provider dies at the right/wrong time. And then do a kill of com.android.media (which hosts the downloadProvider). "Killing com.example (pid 12234) because provider com.android.providers.downloads.DownloadProvider is in dying process android.process.media" I tracked the code for this in ActivityManagerService::removeDyingProviderLocked Is this a policy decision or is the cursor access unsafe after the provider has died? It looks like the client cursor is holding a fd for an ashmem location populated by the CP. Is this the reason the clients are killed instead of throwing an exception like Binders when the server (provider) dies ?

• WMI: Editing the Registry Remotely

  I'm trying to use the following code (poorly written, but it's just a proof of concept) to edit the registry of a computer on a domain. I have a domain account, and I've verified that the domain admin group is present in the local admin group on the machines I'm attempting to affect. I've connected to these other machines to perform other administrative type tasks, so I'm sure that I have administrative privileges on these hosts. All of StdRegProv's "get" methods work fine (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa393664%28VS.85%29.aspx) but the "set" or "create" methods as well as check access all return "5" which is "Error_Access_Denied" according to winerror.h. So there's the problem: why do I get access denied when attempting to modify the registry? If anyone can help me figure this out, you'd have my utmost appreciation! I almost forgot, when I fire up Visual Studio in admin mode on my local machine and run the code against the local machine, it works flawlessly.   I have a swf hosted at domain A, and I have a html at domain B My swf is able to be loaded from accessing the html at domain B. However, the swf gets a SecurityError: Error #2060: Security sandbox violation: ExternalInterface caller http://domainA.com/TrialApp.swf cannot access http://DomainB.com/. The as3 is just the below: ExternalInterface.call("javascript:_invite();"); I've also loaded the crossdomain policy file from Domain B during initialization. • Recording SELECT statements in PostgreSQL 8.4

  Hi All I've got a table which contains sensitive data and according to data protection policy we have to keep a record of every read/write of the data including a row identifier and the user who accessed the table. The writing is no issue using triggers but obviously triggers aren't supported for SELECT statements. What's the best method of doing this? I've looked at rules but I can't get them to INSERT into a table, and I've tried logging every query but this doesn't seem to log SELECT statements. Ideally for security I'd like to keep the log within a table on the database but logging to a file is fine too. Thanks David

• Windows XP can use a wired network port, but MacBook (OS X) fails on the same port

  I wired the Cat5 in my house seven years ago. The wired ports have worked fine with both my Windows XP laptop and MacBook. My wireless network also works fine, but I like to use wired occasionally. One of the Cat5 runs wasn't terminated with a jack, so I recently terminated this wire with a port/jack on the wall end and a standard Cat5 plug on the end that plugs into my router. This is the same setup as my other runs. Unfortunately, the MacBook isn't working well with the new wired port. The OS X Network System Preferences show the IP, Subnet, Router, etc., and everything looks fine. A "netstat -ibd" shows no errors or dropped packets. However, when I open a page in Safari, the status says "Contacting 'www.google.com'" and appears to hang. If I wait for a couple minutes, part of the Google page starts to display, but it is still not the full page load. When I use a Windows XP laptop on the same wired port, everything works fine. An internet speed test shows good results and all web pages load fine. A "netstat -e" under Windows shows no errors. I've used a Cat5 tester, and the cable tests fine (wires 1-8 light up in sequence). I've replaced both the port/jack and the connector twice to make sure I wired things correctly. I'd really like this Cat5 to work with the MacBook (and I'm trying to avoid running a new length of cable). Any ideas what the problem could be?

Whenever I create a new site collection in WSS I want to ensure that I can filter the people picker to only show he relevant users for that group - can I automate this or would I have to manually do something like the above stsadm command? • Can't install any drivers at all on Windows 8. Error 0x000003F9

  I suddenly can't install any drivers at all on my Windows 8 Pro x64 install. It doesn't matter what kind of driver it is, nothing will install. Everything ends with error 0x000003F9: The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the registry, but the specified file is not in a registry file format. When Windows Update tries to install a driver, it just gives error code 800703F9 and says that "Windows Update ran into a problem." I've already done a scan of system files with sfc, tried another user account, done a chkdsk, and a few more things, but nothing works. The problem started when I tried to install drivers for my printer earlier today and suddenly started getting messages saying that "Windows Modules Installer has stopped working." I decided to restart and was being greeted with the recovery boot options. I shut the computer down, but when I booted it back up the same thing happened, so I did a repair your pc, and was able to boot into the OS properly. Then I rebooted into my external drive and did a chkdsk on the Windows 8 install that started acting funny. When I booted back into Windows 8, I wasn't able to install any drivers. They all keep coming up with the same error. And I can't seem to find anything at all on this issue. Any help would be much appreciated.   Respected sir/madam, I want to add multiple jpanels to jpanel.So i added a root panel to jscrollpane.and then added all individual jpanels to this root panel.I made jscrollpane's scrolling policy as needed.i.e HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED,VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED. But the problem is all individual panels are not shown inside root panel. • Windows 7 interfering with smart cards

  I have an application that uses the PC/SC API to communicate with smart cards. On Windows 7, I get strange results: the data returned from the cards is inconsistent and invalid with certain commands. If I disable the Smart Card Plug and Play service in group policy then everything works fine. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Is there any way to get the smart card plug and play service to play nice? It would be nice to not have to disable it...
