So, every individual belongs to a group, and has answered some questions. These questions are always grouped in keys and subkeys. Is there any simple method to calculate averages, deviations and similar based on the groupings. Something like public float getAverage(int key, int individual); float avg = getAverage(5,7); I think what I'm asking is what would be the best way to structure the data in C# to make it as easy as possible to work with? I have started making classes for every entity, but I got confused somewhere and something stopped working. So before I continue along this path, I was wondering if there are any other, better, ways of doing this? (Every individual can also have describing variables, like agegroup and such, but that's not important for the base functionality.) Our current solution does all calculations inline in the queries when requesting the data from the database. This works, but it's slow and the number of queries equals questions * individuals + keys * individuals, which could be alot if individual queries. Any suggestions?

  • Microsoft Arc Mouse OS X

    I recently bought a new Mac Book Pro with Mountain Lion 10.8 on it. The only portable mouse I have is my Microsoft Arc Mouse. I wanted to use it with the laptop so I installed the IntelliPoint 8.2 for Mac from Microsofts website. According to their website, this driver is for OS X 10.4-10.7. Now I thought that wouldnt be too much of an issue but unfortunately for me, the driver installs fine and the mouse is detected but I get no movement and when I click the buttons nothing happens. I took the mouse with me on a business trip to EU and before I left I checked if the mouse worked with my desktop which is running Windows 7 and it worked without any hiccups. I'm not too sure where the OS differs from 10.7 to 10.8. I found an article online but it doesn't pertain to my mouse, although it could be of assistance.     Hi. Evaluating Tinymce. I've looked at the docs/source/api, and have a question that I thought I'd pose to the stackoverflow group. Has anyone implemented Tinymce, who can tell me it it's possible to setup Tinymce to restrict a user, allowing the user to only "view" a text file, and be able to add additional buttons to the save/cancel row of buttons.. I would like to write a simple batch file that returns all folders under C: and the size of each folder. The dir command doesn't appear to return folder size. Now I'm at the point where I do alot of text info such as help texts, eula, privacy policy etc. I realized that I'm not sure what would the best way to store these texts. 1. Directly in the aspx page 2. In text files and then load the text via ViewData[] to the aspx file 3. In my sql database If use option 3 how would I then design the database e.g. eula = table x, privacypolicy=table y? I guess I just need some directions of what't the pros and cons with the options above.

  • Unit Testing, IDataContext and Stored Procedures via Linq

    hey folks, I'm currently using Stephen Walther's approach to unit testing Linq to SQL and the datacontext (http://stephenwalther.com/blog/archive/2008/08/17/asp-net-mvc-tip-33-unit-test-linq-to-sql.aspx) which is working a treat for all things linq. My Dal layer takes in an IDataContext, I use DI (via Unity) to concrete that up as the correct DataContext object and all works well. But - we have a company policy here of writes going via Stored Procs. Has anyone come up with a solution for mocking/faking the data context and still allowing stored procs to effectively be unit tested? I've got no real experience of any of the mocking frameworks (Rhino etc.) so if these are the correct means of doing this, I'd love some pointers on guides for them. Many thanks, Terry

    I know this has been asked countless times on here, however I tried all the solutions and am still having the issue. Most people say to set the content-type (which I did) and to name the inputs that I wish to Post to node. I have done both of these things, yet still get "undefined" when trying to send data from an HTML form to node.   • Mac OS X - configuring ntpd server with on LAN with D-Link DIR-655

    Hey all, This question is pretty specific, but I hope someone will have seen this error elsewhere. I a configuring a machine running OS X 10.5.8 to be an NTP server for machines connected to a LAN that is not connected to the Internet. I am not too worried about knowing the "right" time on all the machines, but rather worried about making sure everyone has the same notion of time. I configured the NTP daemon on Mac by turning on the Set date and time automatically in System Preferences, using the server's clock, 127.127.1.0 as the reference clock. I figured I should see if the server can NTP query itself before proceeding to the clients. The weird part is when I run the ntpq -p command in a command-prompt when connected to my D-Link DIR-655 (firmware: 1.33), it hangs for about a minute or so each time before finally giving me some output. I thought the problem might have to do with Port Forwarding, so I configured the router to forward port 123 for the IP of the server, but that did not improve the situation. When I run the ntpq -p command on my school's network, on a Linksys WRT54G router, or with the wireless Airport card turned off - I have absolutely no problems - the command returns a response instantly. Is this normal? I can see why a query might take a minute or so, but I don't understand why one router does it faster than the other. I tried messing around with the ntp.conf file adding the burst, minpoll, and maxpoll options: server 127.127.1.0 burst minpoll 4 maxpoll 5 Figuring that perhaps I am polling too often and the configuration file is slowing me down, but even with this, the ntpq still hangs on the D-Link DIR-655, but does just fine on the other routers. Any thoughts on where the lag is coming from or if the lag is even a problem?

  • NSURLConnection on simulator and iphone performance issues

    I'm experiencing a weird problem and i wonder if anybody else has noticed this: I'm using NSURLConnection as it appears in apple's examples to get xml files from a certain server - pretty straight forward. And most of time it works, but sometimes it's just stuck after initialing and don't get into connection's delegate methods. I'm working with WiFi & 3G and the same server all the time. When it comes to didFailWithError i see that mostly it was a timeout error. When I enter same link in Safari it takes a second to bring data. And after another trial I can access the link. What might be the reason for such a weird behavior? How can I improve it? What is the role of cache policy with NSURLConnection? Thanks, Nava

  • OSX 10.6 goes unresponsive

    This behavior continues to perplex me. My MBP, running 10.6.7, stops responding to all Apple-based software. Whatever software I have open remains open (Terminal, iTunes, Safari), but if I try to use the F-shortcuts or launch any OSX-based software not already open (System Preferences for example) it just bounces in the dock then never launches. I also cannot reboot without hard rebooting.     I grabbed a small FreeBSD live CD and QEMU, and I'm trying to bridge my Mac OS X 10.8 wifi connection so that the guest OS is available on my LAN. However, the guest OS never gets a DHCP lease. This works perfectly with VirtualBox in their "bridged" network mode, so I know it can be done. I need to get it working with QEMU because VirtualBox doesn't support the architecture that I need for this project. But if I tcpdump -ni en0, I don't see any DHCP traffic from the QEMU guest OS. Any ideas? Update 1: I tried sudo defaults write "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot" "Kernel Flags" "net.inet.ip.scopedroute=0" and rebooting per this mailing list suggestion, but this didn't help. In fact, it made VirtualBox bridged mode stop working.

    I am porting some functionality from a C++ application to java. This involves reading non-modifiable data files that contain regular expressions. A lot of the data files contain regular expressions that look similar to the following: (?<=id="VIEWSTATE".*?value=").*?(?=") These regular expressions produce the following error: "Look-behind group does not have an obvious maximum length near index XX" In C++ the engine being used supported these expressions. Is there another form of regexp that can produce the same result that can be generated using expressions like my example as input?

    I realise it is possible to create a crosstab within sqlite, but is it possible to dynamically determine the relevant categories/columns at runtime rather than hardcoding them? Given the following example, it can get rather tedious ...
