  • Is There A Central Repository of Javascript Information?

    For example, if you want information of PHP functions, you can go to http://www.php.net/ . If you want information of Perl functions you can to to http://www.cpan.org/ and/or use perldoc. If you want information on Java you can go to http://java.sun.com and/or use javadoc. However, if you want information on Javascript methods/functions and their attributes, return values, etc. where do you go? The reason I ask is I was playing with the "focus()" method and wondering if it could be passed any values or if it returned anything when called. I have done a cursory Google search but haven't found much. Does such a beast exist or am I out of luck? Thanks for reading, and have a good day.

    Is there any function in pandas that can directly read a rotated csv file? To be specific, the header information in the first col instead of the first row. For example: A 1 2 B 3 5 C 6 7 and I would like the final DataFrame this way A B C 1 3 5 2 5 7 Of corse we can get around this problem using some data wangling techniques like transpose and slicing. I am wondering there should be a quick way in API but I could not find it.

    I am stuck between row vs colunms table design for storing some items but the decision is which table is easier to manage and if colunms then how many colunms are best to have? For example I have object meta data, ideally there are 45 pieces of information (after being normalized) on the same level that i need to store per object. So is 45 colunms in a heavry read/write table good? Can it work flawless in a real world situation of heavy concurrent read/writes?

  • getResourceAsStream returns HttpInputStream not of the entire file

    Hi, I am having a web application with an applet which will copy a file packed witht the applet to the client machine. When I deploy it to webserver and use: InputStream in = getClass().getResourceAsStream("filename") ; The in.available() always return a size of 8192 bytes for every file I tried, which means the file is corrupted when it is copied to the client computer. The InputStream is of type HttpInputStream (sun.net.protocol.http.HttpUrlConnection$httpInputStream). But while I test applet in applet viewer, the files are copied fine, with the InputStream returned is of type BufferedInputStream, which has the file's byte sizes. I guess that when getResourceStream in file system the BufferedInputStream will be used and when at http protocol, HttpInputStream will be used. How will I copy the file completely, is there a size limited for HttpInputStream? Thanks a lot.

    I frequently upload CSV files to a MySQL db. It is very convenient to use LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE to upload the data, but I can't use this to create the table itself. As of now, the best method I have is to use PHP to get the field titles from the first row of the file and then put together a CREATE table query. Is there a more convenient way to do this?

  • Having trouble doing an Update with a Linq to Sql object

    Hi folks, i've got a simple linq to sql object. I grab it from the database and change a field then save. No rows have been updated. :( When I check the full Sql code that is sent over the wire, I notice that it does an update to the row, not via the primary key but on all the fields via the where clause. Is this normal? I would have thought that it would be easy to update the field(s) with the where clause linking on the Primary Key, instead of where'ing (is that a word :P) on each field. here's the code... using (MyDatabase db = new MyDatabase()) { var boardPost = (from bp in db.BoardPosts where bp.BoardPostId == boardPostId select bp).SingleOrDefault(); if (boardPost != null && boardPost.BoardPostId > 0) { boardPost.ListId = listId; // This changes the value from 0 to 'x' db.SubmitChanges(); } } and here's some sample sql.. exec sp_executesql N'UPDATE [dbo].[BoardPost] SET [ListId] = @p6 WHERE ([BoardPostId] = @p0) AND .... <snip the other fields>',N'@p0 int,@p1 int,@p2 nvarchar(9),@p3 nvarchar(10),@p4 int,@p5 datetime,@p6 int',@p0=1276,@p1=212787,@p2=N'ttreterte',@p3=N'ttreterte3',@p4=1,@p5='2009-09-25 12:32:12.7200000',@p6=72 Now, i know there's a datetime field in this update .. and when i checked the DB it's value was/is '2009-09-25 12:32:12.720' (less zero's, than above) .. so i'm not sure if that is messing up the where clause condition... but still! should it do a where clause on the PK's .. if anything .. for speed! Yes / no ? UPDATE After reading nitzmahone's reply, I then tried playing around with the optimistic concurrency on some values, and it still didn't work :( So then I started some new stuff ... with the optimistic concurrency happening, it includes a where clause on the field it's trying to update. When that happens, it doesn't work. so.. in the above sql, the where clause looks like this ... WHERE ([BoardPostId] = @p0) AND ([ListId] IS NULL) AND ... <rest snipped>) This doesn't sound right! the value in the DB is null, before i do the update. but when i add the ListId value to the where clause (or more to the point, when L2S add's it because of the optomistic concurrecy), it fails to find/match the row. wtf?

  • How can I make sure a ListView item always resizes to show all rows?

    I have a panel which contains a TableLayoutPanel which itself contains a number of ListViews and Labels. What I'd like is for each list view to resize to fit all of it's contents in vertically (i.e. so that every row is visible). The TableLayoutPanel should handle any vertical scrolling but I can't work out how to get the ListView to resize itself depending on the number of rows. Do I need to handle OnResize and manually resize or is there already something to handle this?

I can do it - sort of - but the object I receive is a sun.org.mozilla.javascript.internal.InterpretedFunction and I don't see a way to invoke it. Any ideas?     I have some text in a div. It can be any Unicode text under the sun, including Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Now, I need to take this text and word-wrap it in JavaScript in some efficient but correct manner. (Because I need to make each line start with "" in a textarea.) Browsers have an implementation of the Unicode Word Wrap algorithm, as is evidenced by word-wrapping Unicode text in a with CSS. (At least, Firefox has such an algorithm, and I suspect other browsers do as well.) What I need is some way for JavaScript to use the same word-wrapping algorithm, so that I can properly wrap and then "quote" Unicode text. Is there any way for JavaScript to use the browser's word-wrapping algorithm, or to know where text has been line-broken in a div or any other element?

Also note that I would prefer to keep lookupCodeInfo() and especially am interested in keeping it enabled to accept lambda functions for specifying which rows/columns to return.

    I know the question sounds silly, but consider this: I have an array of items and a labelling algorithm. at any point the item is in one of three states. The current version holds these states in a byte array, where 0, 1 and 2 represent the three states. alternatively, I could have three arrays of boolean - one for each state. which is better (consumes less memory) depends on how jvm (sun's version) stores the arrays - is a boolean represented by 1 bit? (p.s. don't start with all that "this is not the way OO/Java works" - I know, but here performance comes in front. plus the algorithm is simple and perfectly readable even in such form).     Hello. I'm trying to get rid of unnecessary symbols after decimal seperator of my double value. I'm doing it this way: DecimalFormat format = new DecimalFormat("#.#####"); value = Double.valueOf(format.format(41251.50000000012343)); But when I run this code, it throws: java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "41251,5" at sun.misc.FloatingDecimal.readJavaFormatString(FloatingDecimal.java:1224) at java.lang.Double.valueOf(Double.java:447) at ... As I see, Double.valueOf() works great with strings like "11.1", but it chokes on strings like "11,1". How do I work around this? Is there a more elegant way then something like Double.valueOf(format.format(41251.50000000012343).replaceAll(",", ".")); Is there a way to override the default decimal separator value of DecimalFormat class?
