    We have a server with a database that has a symmetric key (Database - Security - Symmetric Key). We have a backup duplicate databases that we are using as a test databases, but we don't have this key in there. How can I duplicate this symmetric key and put it in the existing databases? It has to have the same value and key-name as the other one. This is on MS SQL Server 2008 .

I'm using riched32.dll to display and edit rich text. now I would like to draw some custom markings to the text, like for example the red underline in office word displaying wrong spelling. or text marking boxes with rounded corners or something like this.     Your code is of course checked into a repository somewhere, but where do you keep your working copy/copies? C:\Program Files isn't right, as it's for installed packages. My Documents somehow doesn't seem right, either—a My Code folder next to My Music and My Pictures? Dumping in C:\ is messy, but seems to be "working" for other people in my office.

    If I have a date, how do I calculate the week number for that date within that year? For example, in 2008, January 1st to January 6th are in week 1 and January 7th to the 13th are in week 2, so if my date was January 10th 2008, my week number would be 2. Here's the thing, I like this java-like code writting: if (condition == true) { doSomeStuff(); } But VisualStudio "helps" me with his own "style", which I don't like and I am unable to change (after rather big time of desperate checking all settings :/) if (condition == true) { DoStuff(); } I obviously want the "{" char to be in same line where condition is ...   • Exploded (unpacked) EAR vs. Packaged EAR file?

    In my office we use exploded EAR's (and inside them exploded WAR directories) for our test environments, and then a packaged one for production. I've yet to find a good explanation of the reason behind this though. I understand it's easier from a deployment perspective to push out a single file during builds, but it prevents us from doing things like property file changes without doing complete rebuilds (we could skip the compiles, but our environment currently binds the compile and jar processes together). What are the major advantages / disadvantages between these two configurations?

Is this a bespoke thing they (and other companies) implement, or is it built into any APIs?
