• Windows 7 - store network password

  Windows 7 keeps asking for a password every time I mount a webdav. I don't want to store a password in a .bat file because it's so insecure. Is there any way to force system store it? Manually adding credentials in user manager helps storing passwords for SMB shares but for webdav doesn't. btw, as far as I remember, Vista had the same problems.

  You might be familiar with Ninite. What I'd like to know is if there are good alternatives to that software for Windows. The features I expect: installs the latest version of software supports 64 bit installs where possible strips ads/toolbars/similar stuff provides a way to keep the programs updated after installation if I can add custom installers to the software, that's a big plus. Any ideas if such a program exists?

  I'm looking to play my .mkv files via Windows Media Center - I've got it almost working. They show up on the menu, they play video fine, but the audio is mute. Strangely, if I play the .mkv file via Media Player - the video & audio are fine. Any ideas?

  I am trying to install Java SDK for windows 7 (Ultimate version, 64bit), I downloaded the following file from oracle website: jdk-7u9-windowsx64.exe. When I try to execute it, I get an error that it is not a valid win 32 application. I think the JDK version is correct. Can somebody help me out?   I have an application (.exe) which I am running via a scheduled task on Windows Server 2008 R2. The task runs fine but when the .exe returns a non-zero exit code the task is still successful when it should fail. I get this message: Task Scheduler successfully completed task "\CustomerDataSourceETL - Whics" , instance "{a574f6b4-2614-413c-8661-bc35eaeba7cd}" , action "E:\applications\CCDB-ETL\CustomerDataSourceETLConsole.exe" with return code 214794259. How can I get task scheduler to detect that the return code is 0 and fail the task?

• Why is Windows 7 slow resume from suspend?

  I have Windows 7 on an HP Mini 5101. It is can be very slow to resume from suspend (not hibernate) state. The time from power on to the login prompt varies from say 10 sec to over a minute. This machine mainly gets used for sofa surfing so usually only Firefox and gtalk are running. Any suggestions on how to achieve Mac-like start-up or suggestions on how to track down the problem appreciated.

The account 'Paul' is present but is denied local log in so the default auto logs in locally. I am trying to remote into account Paul using RDC however it tries to log into the default account and I am presented with an an option to boot the present user off so I can log in.   I have windows 7 and my disc drive has a capacity of 120 GB. From one day to another it tells me that my disc C is full in a red bar but I dont have many programs installed. I deleted all of my videos, games, music, pictures, etc and I was able to free up 30 GB. I ran the disk cleaner and emptied the TEMP folder and garbage can but it still shows a 70GB used.   When I run a game on my windows 7 laptop, Rundll32 completely uses up one of my cores and the game wont start. By searching the web I have been able to fix it by 1 - Disabling game info collection/updation from the games explorer. It solved the problem for some games but not all 2 - Killing the game exe once rundll32 gets stuck and restarting the game This has solved the problem for now, but is there a proper and permanent solution to this?

  I work all day on a Windows Server 2003 machine and have noticed people "borrowing" my machine by using Remote Desktop to log in. This is pretty much "normal behaviour" at the company I work at, but I'd like to know when this is happening. Is there any way I can be alerted each time someone remote desktop's onto my server? A simple "Bob has logged in" would be great - and I imagine there is a facility somewhere to enable this.
