• Windows system restore deletes various executables and *.js files. How does it decide which files to delete?

  I restored my system from a Windows System Restore point. It solved some issues I was having, but introduced other strange problems (like my optical drive disappeared). One thing that surprised me was several files from my Web2Py installation were deleted: the executables and *.js files; possibly some others (like favicon.ico). I did not expect this because Web2Py is basically a portable, standalone application. You just unzip it and run the executable inside, so nothing should be registered with Windows. My question is: what files does Windows system restore delete, and how does it decide this? I'm just wondering what other files I'm missing and if there's a way to get restore them (without rolling back the restore point). Perhaps it scans for certain files types (like exe, js, ico, dll) with a creation date that was after the restore point creation date? • Does OpenRasta support Mono?

  Although Mono support is not a big deal for us, I figured OpenRasta supported it cause it has some commit messages about it.. Well, I tried to build it on Mono and got Ambiguous type references(after manually creating like 10 obj directories.) So I tried just using the prebuilt assemblies I had on hand and that gave me an Object Reference Not Set To Instance of an Object (the usual error I have with mono.. ) at OpenRasta.Diagnostics.DebuggerLoggingTraceListener.WriteAll (using xsp2) Is there official support for Mono or am I missing some sorta extra step for deployment?

• FileInputStream throws NullPointerException.

  I am getting nullpointerexception, don't know what actually is causing it. • Robotium - Write to file in eclipse workspace or computer file system

  I'm running some tests using Robotium on an Android application that interacts with a web-portal. I'd like to save some information to file; for example I need to save the id of the username I created from the app and I want to make it read from Selenium to run tests on web-portal to verify a webpage for that user has been created. Is it possible? Could someone suggest me a solution or a work-around? • After Filter redirects to login.jsp, proper servlet doesnt get called

  My simple project structure is shown in this link. I am using Eclipse and Tomcat 6. There is login.jsp which submits its form to login_servlet. The login_servlet sets a session variable and then redirects to home.jsp. The home.jsp file has links to the 4 JSP files under a directory called /sam. In web.xml I have given the url-pattern as /sam/* for the LogFiler filter. The LogFilter just reads the session variable and does doChain(request,resposne) if valid, else it redirects to /login.jsp. RequestDispatcher rd = request.getRequestDispatcher("/login.jsp"); rd.forward(request,response); Basically I don't want anyone to access files inside /sam directory directly. Now let's say, I try to directly access a file inside /sam directory, the filter kicks in and the redirection to login.jsp works and even the broswers contents are that of login.jsp, but the url in the browser doesn't change. When I enter details and press submit, instead of sending the data to login_servlet, it sends it to sam/login_servlet and then tomcat tells me there is no such servlet here! Obviously there isn't. My doubt is why is it sending it so sam/login_servlet instead of /login_servlet which is usually what it does when I start running the login.jsp on my own. One more thing, is there a way I can apply the servlet to ONLY .jsp files inside /sam diectory? I tried giving the url-pattern like /sam/*.jsp, but Tomcat was refusing to accept that url-pattern.

• msysgit bash shell- how to troubleshoot "cannot find command"

  I need help getting git extensions to run with msysgit. I have had bad luck with extensions git-tfs and git-fetchall, in both cases it is the same problem. The addon will require a file to be placed where git can find it (git-tfs.exe and git-fetchall.sh). I understand this to mean the files need to be in a directory that is in the 'PATH' environment variable. In both cases I get stuck at this point: $ git-diffall bash: git-diffall: command not found or: $ git-tfs bash: git-tfs: command not found When I run echo %PATH% from a regular command shell, it shows my path variable includes the directories where git-diffall and git-tfs are. How can I debug this, or am I missing something? Is there a way within msysgit to verify the command search path is what I expect?

  Hi I have a reasonably advanced (many patches and subpatches) quartz composition that was created in Snow Leopard but doesn't run well (many elements are not rendered) in Leopard. The composition tested OK via Quartz Composer's Test in Runtime option and works fine for both Leopard 32-bits and Leopard 64-bits (menu item "File | Test in Runtime | Leopard 32-bits". In an actual Leopard (32-bits) system, a lot of elements are not rendered in the quartz composition. I have tested the composition under another user's account and it ran fine which shows that it already embeds the "resize image to target" virtual patch that is located in my home directory. I'm really puzzled why the composition passes the Leopard Runtime test but yet fail to run in an actual Leopard OS? Is there a post-processing step that I need to run to the composition file? Is there any way to make this patch more compatible with Leopard? Thanks in advance.

  I am using the following to delete route53 records. A 111.111.111.111 60 1 id1 test.com. A 111.111.111.222 60 1 id2 I want to delete 111.111.111.222 and the record set. So, what is the proper way to delete a record set? For a record set, I will have multiple values that are distinguished by a unique identifier. When an ip address becomes in active I want to remove from route53. I am using a a poor mans load balancing.   I have made a simple punch in / punch out time clock application. The first time I press it it starts the Toggle activity and completes it fine, but it also opens up the TimeClock activity on the screen. If I then hit the back button I go back to the home. I can now press this shortcut and it will start the Toggle activity and not change the screen. Before I added: shortcutIntent.addFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP); It would open up the TimeClock activity every time. Now it is just the first time. But I want it to never show anything on the screen when the Toggle shortcut is pressed. Does anyone have any idea of how to get rid of that?

• popup with dynamic menuitems, each menuitem is another popup

  I am building an extension that has a pop up whose elements are constructed by a function call everytime the mouse hovers over the popup option. I am able to achieve this. Now I need to have a popup for each of the menu item (inside the original popup) which is not dynamic though. This does not work. the second popup (popup on publicdisplayname[m]) does not open. i have been stuck on this for quite some time and have tried various things cut it doesnt work. Can we do this at all? can we have double dynamic popups?

• ASP.NET MVC 2 router matches correct area route but generates URL to the first registered area inste

  I'm working on a S#arpArchitecture 1.5 project, which uses ASP.NET MVC 2. I've been trying to get areas to work properly but I ran into a problem: The ASP.NET MVC 2 routing engine matches the correct route to my area but then it generates an URL that belongs to the first registered area instead. Here's my request URL: /Framework/Authentication/LogOn?ReturnUrl=%2fDefault.aspx I'm using the Route Tester from Phil Haack and it shows: Matched Route: Framework/{controller}/{action}/{id} Generated URL: /Data/Authentication/LogOn?ReturnUrl=%2FDefault.aspx using the route "Data/{controller}/{action}/{id}" That's clearly wrong, the URL should point to the Framework area, not the Data area. • Installing Daemons

  Dear Stackoverflowers, A simple link would be nice for me to understand how to install my C++ program as a deamon in UNIX, now i know some will say this should be on SERVERFAULT but as far as i understand it i need the init.d shell script to actually create the start and stop for the daemons. But if you guys can show me a simple shell script for the daemon and the file directories every thing required is associated with, that would be great. I was going to do this http://www.linux.com/archive/feed/46892 but if you read the comments every one is moaning x( . P.S. ive already done the required code for C++ to run as a daemon i just need to know how to actually install it as a daemon. • Problems upgrading MySQL application from Delphi 2006 to 2010

  I upgraded my Delphi to 2010 version and I tried to open and run application written in Delphi 2006. The app is using mysql by dbexpress with libmysql.dll and a second driver found somewhere on the Internet. I can't run it on 2010. I'm always getting "missing libmysql.dll library". I tried to get new version of it but it didn't help. Copying this library into almost all system directories didn't help. I'm out of any ideas what to do, how do I connect to database :(

• Using WFC authentication service for web application

  I am using a WFC authentication service I set up with a web application. I have successfully set up and tested the AuthenticationService and RolesService. The web application can successfully call methods like ValidateUser and GetRolesForCurrentUser through the WFC services. I want to integrate the WFC authentication service with my web.config and site.map. Do I need to write a custom provider, or is there some way I can modify the web.config of the web application to use the WFC authentication service as its membership provider? This way I can set what roles have access to what directories based off the WFC authentication service.

• How to set up RPX widget and facebook app to be able to authenticate with rpx_now?

  Using the sample app for rpx_now gem ( http://github.com/grosser/rpx_now_example) on localhost:3000, I have successfully logged in via Google Accounts, myOpenID, Yahoo, but cannot make it via Facebook. In the RPX app/widget settings I have set my facebook-app key and secret. In my facebook app settings, the Connect URL is myappname.rpxnow.com. But when I try to connect, then I don't even see a facebook login page, just a number of redirects and I am back to my localhost with the following exception http://gist.github.com/386520 . Before I was successfully connecting with oauth2 gem, however, without fetching user data - only authentication. That time I set only key/secret and localhost as my Connect URL. Currently, I don't even ask for email etc., but still the same problem. Can it happen because rpx_now cannot get requested user data from facebook? Or it is a problem of facebook key/secret? May be I need to provide more settings of my facebook app? • Can the same ssh key be used to access two different users on the same server?

  I have an new ubuntu (hardy 8.04) server, it has two users, User1 and User2. User1 is listed in sudoers. I appended my public ssh key to authorized_keys in /home/user1/.ssh/authorized_keys, changed the permissions on user1/.ssh/ to 700 and user1/.ssh/authorized_keys to 600 and both file and folder are owned my User1. Then added I User1 to sshd_config (AllowUsers User1). This works and I can login into User1 debug1: Offering public key: /Users/nick/.ssh/id_rsa debug1: Server accepts key: pkalg ssh-rsa blen 277 debug1: Authentication succeeded (publickey). debug1: channel 0: new [client-session] debug1: Entering interactive session. Last login: Mon Mar 15 09:51:01 2010 from 86.141.61.197 I then copied the authorized_keys file to /home/user2/.shh/ and changed the permissions and ownership and added User2 to AllowUsers in sshd_config (AllowUsers User1 User2). Now when I try to login to User2 it will not authenticate the same public key. debug1: Offering public key: /Users/nick/.ssh/id_rsa debug1: Authentications that can continue: publickey debug1: Trying private key: /Users/nick/.ssh/identity debug1: Trying private key: /Users/nick/.ssh/id_dsa debug1: No more authentication methods to try. • Jetty startup delay

  I'm trying to figure out what would be causing a 1 minute delay in the startup of Jetty. Is it a configuration problem, my application, or something else? I have Jetty 7 (jetty-7.0.1.v20091125 25 November 2009) installed on a server and I deploy a 45MB ROOT.war file into the webapps directory. This is the only webapp configured in Jetty. Notice the 1 minute long pause between the 3rd and 4th lines. What is Jetty doing at this point? What other things could be going on? It doesn't even look like it has started my Spring initialization yet. Note that I checked my /tmp directory to see if it was simply the time to unpack my war file, but the file had been completely unpacked even at the start of this 1 minute delay.

• jqGrid - edit function never getting called

  I'm having a problem with JQGrid using ASP.NET MVC. I'm trying to follow this example (after you go to that link, over on the left side of the page please click Live Data Manipulation, then Edit Row), but my edit function is never getting called (i.e. it's never getting into the $("#bedata").click(function(). • compare two windows paths, one containing tilde, in python

  I'm trying to use the TMP environment variable in a program. When I ask for tmp = os.path.expandvars("$TMP") I get C:\Users\STEVE~1.COO\AppData\Local\Temp Which contains the old-school, tilde form. A function I have no control over returns paths like C:\Users\steve.cooper\AppData\Local\Temp\file.txt My problem is this; I'd like to check if the file is in my temp drive, but I can't find a way to compare them. How do you tell if these two Windows directories; C:\Users\STEVE~1.COO\AppData\Local\Temp C:\Users\steve.cooper\AppData\Local\Temp are the same?

• Source Control - XCode - Visual Studio 2005/2008 / 2010

  My apologies if this has been asked before, I wasnt quite sure if this question should be asked on a programming forum, as it more relates to programming environment than a particular technology, so please accept my (double) appologies if I am posting this in the wrong place, my logic in this case was if it effects the code I write, then this is the place for it. At home, I do a lot of my development on a Mac Pro, I do development for the Mac, iPhone and Windows on this machine (Xcode & Visual Studio - (multiple versions installed in bootcamp, but generally I run it via Parallels)). When visiting a client, I have a similar setup, but on my MacBook Pro. What I want is a source control solution to install on the Mac Pro, that will support both XCode and multiple versions of visual studio, so that when I visit a client, I can simply grab the latest copy from source control via the MacBook Pro. Whilst visiting the client, he / she may suggest changes, and minor ones I would tend to make on site, so I need the ability to merge any modified code back into the trunk of the project / solution when I return home. At the moment, I am using no source control at all, and rely on simply coping folders and overwriting them when I return from a client- thats my 'merge'!!! I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of a source provider I could use, which would support both Windows and Mac development environments, and is cheap (free would be better).

• Automatically support new changes with Python.

  I was working on a program,that I need to support new additions. Hmmm. Let me give you some background on the program. It is an educational software program that has quizzes for the user to take, just to gain odd knowledge. Now, It currently supports 6 subjects, all organized with directores on the HDD ( i.e. the Science directory is called science. ) and the way you launch the subject to see what quizzes you have to take is by pushing a button on the home screen. This sort of thing prevents easy subject additions. I want to be able to add a subject later on without having to recode the home screen and re organize all the buttons. I would use a Listbox and os.listdir(...), but I was kind of wanting something prettier than a Listbox. I am using Tkinter on Windows. The Python version I am using is 2.6 Is there a "fancy" listbox sort of thing that can be styled to work with the background?
