What's a good book for learning BCPL?

A long time ago, I worked on some BCPL code (very similar to C although even more basic, difficult though that is to imagine). Now, as part of a compiler course, we're going to be setting assignments for building some of the parts of the compiler (lexical and semantic analysis) and I'd like to know what the community thinks is the best book for learning about the language (and concrete why you think it's the best). Not how to write compilers for it, just on how to program in it. It'll be up to the students themselves to figure out how best to develop a compiler. We're using BCPL since the chance of people being able to plagiarise code for a compiler is very slim. Any suggestions?Read the article

I was told by my boss we need to buy some more licenses of ReSharper and getting the quote of that we also received the quote of an upgrade to the newest version (v7) for everyone here. We are a small shop of 20 C# developers working with VS2010 We previously were working with an older version (v5) so I wondered what are the key differences between both versions, from a practical point of view, because the upgrade fee is greater than zero. Help with porting thread functionality: Win32 --> .Net

Hi, I am responsible for porting a class from legacy Win32 code to .Net and I have come across a threading model that I'm not sure how best to implement in .Net. Basically the Win32 has one worker thread, which calls WaitForMultipleObjects() and executes the particular piece of code when a particular object has been triggered. This has a sort of first-come-first-serve effect that I need to emulate in my own code. But I'm not sure how best to do this in .Net. Does anyone have any idea? I see that there is no equivalent of WaitForMultipleObjects() in .Net, only the ThreadPool class, which seems to provide most of what I need, but I'm not sure if it's the best, since I only have four objects total to wait and execute code for. In particular, they had the maximum memory and IO configuration that is desired for database servers. I often buy webtemplates online, and when I do so I often look at the demos to get some inspiration on how to use the components. But I would love to look at other sites which have already implemented a full website using this template. So I am looking for a tool which searches sites having a similar HTML as the demos (and therefore are probably implementing the template). algorithm to combine data for linear fit?

I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask this, but you guys have been helpful with plenty of my CS homework in the past so I figure I'll give it a shot. I'm looking for an algorithm to blindly combine several dependent variables into an index that produces the best linear fit with an external variable. Basically, it would combine the dependent variables using different mathematical operators, include or not include each one, etc. until an index is developed that best correlates with my external variable.
