• Generate a list of file names based on month and year arithmetic

  How can I list the numbers 01 to 12 (one for each of the 12 months) in such a way so that the current month always comes last where the oldest one is first. In other words, if the number is grater than the current month, it's from the previous year. e.g. 02 is Feb, 2011 (the current month right now), 03 is March, 2010 and 09 is Sep, 2010 but 01 is Jan, 2011. In this case, I'd like to have [09, 03, 01, 02].   I have a very strange problems in a PHP Soap implementation. I have a private variable in the Server class which contains the DB name for further reference. The private variable name is "fromdb". I have a public function on the soap server where I can set this variable. $client-setFromdb. When I call it form my client works perfectly and the fromdb private variable can be set. But a second soap client call this private variable loses its value... • Measure width() with jQuery after DOM refresh

  My script dynamically creates a <ul> width left-floating <li>s inside: it's a paginator. Afterwards, the script measures width of all <li>s and summs them up. The problem is that after the nodes are injected into the document — the browser refreshed DOM and applies CSS styles which takes a while. It has a negative effect on my script: when these operations are not complete before I measure the width — my script gets a wrong value. If I perform the measure in a second — everything is ok. The thing I'm looking for is a way to detect the moment when the <ul> is fully drawn, styles applied and the width has stabilizes. Or at least a way to detect every dimensions changes. Of course I can use setTimeout(..., 100) but it's ugly and I guess — not a solution at all. If there's a way to detect width stabilization — I would do the measuring right after it to get the correct values. HTML code generated by the DOM <div> <ul> <li><a href="...">1</a></li> <li><a href="...">2</a></li> .... </ul> </div> P.S. Why I need this. My paginator's left-floating <li> items tend to move to the next line when the <ul> tries to become wider than the page itself. Even though most of <li>s are invisible because of parent <div>'s width restriction: div { width: 500px; overflow: hidden; } div ul { width: 100%; white-space: nowrap; } div ul li { display: block; float: left; } they still go down unless I specify the actual summed width of the <ul> with the script.

• What are the weaknesses of this user authentication method?

  I'm developing my own PHP framework. It seems all the security articles I have read use vastly different methods for user authentication than I do so I could use some help in finding security holes. Some information that might be useful before I start. I use mod_rewrite for my MVC url's. Passwords are sha1 and md5 encrypted with 24 character salt unique to each user. mysql_real_escape_string and/or variable typecasting on everything going in, and htmlspecialchars on everything coming out. Step-by step process: Top of every page: session_start(); session_regenerate_id(); If user logs in via login form, generate new random token to put in user's MySQL row. Hash is generated based on user's salt (from when they first registered) and the new token. Store the hash and plaintext username in session variables, and duplicate in cookies if 'Remember me' is checked. On every page, check for cookies. If cookies set, copy their values into session variables. Then compare $_SESSION['name'] and $_SESSION['hash'] against MySQL database. Destroy all cookies and session variables if they don't match so they have to log in again. If login is valid, some of the user's information from the MySQL database is stored in an array for easy access. So far, I've assumed that this array is clean so when limiting user access I refer to user.rank and deny access if it's below what's required for that page. I've tried to test all the common attacks like XSS and CSRF, but maybe I'm just not good enough at hacking my own site! My system seems way too simple for it to actually be secure (the security code is only 100 lines long). What am I missing? I've also spent alot of time searching for the vulnerabilities with mysql_real_escape string but I haven't found any information that is up-to-date (everything is from several years ago at least and has apparently been fixed). All I know is that the problem was something to do with encoding. If that problem still exists today, how can I avoid it? Any help will be much appreciated.

• Phonegap web view thinks device screen taller than it is - results in offscreen tabbar

  I have a jQTouch application loaded via server, so all I need to do is display the webpage full screen in PhoneGap for a faux-Native app. Unfortunatley each solution I've tried in PhoneGap has an issue: it thinks the screen size is taller than it is. This resuls in the tabbar that is pinned to the bottom being permantly offscreen and there fore unusable. You should be able to recreate this with my code below and going to the iTabbar online demo. Any thoughts on how to correct this issue? For background, going to the app page in iOS safari works fine, as well as saving the page to the home screen. In both cases the webview stops at the bottom of the screen and the tabbar is therefore viewable. Also, I'm using build.phonegap.com to compile (I'm not compiling locally) I've tried two methods: load the childBrowser plugin and call up the page (with navbar hidden via options) set the following config.xml parameter to prevent phonegap from switching to Safari, and then just load the link (preferable as it's cleaner in my mind.   I have a folder structure that contains multiple javascript files, each of these files need a standard piece of text at the top = //@include "includes.js" Each folder needs to contain a file named includes.js that has an include entry for each file in its directory and and entry for the include file in its parent directory. I'm trying to achive this using ant and its not going too well. So far I have the following, which does the job of inserting the header but not without actually moving or copying the file. I've created the users for the login and the role to access the "Members" folder. But in my host company, it doesnt work. I have the aspnet database from my computer in that databese "jsilvaqqc.mdf". When i try to log on pops up box requiring autentication. But i've alreadu given that in the log in form. Do i need aspnet "authentication" tag? Why dont i need it in my machine if i access the same database? Thanks for you help.

  Hiya coding Ninja's I'm in a spot of bother and my hairline is on the chopping block. When I integrated the maps API on this site, ritaknoetze.com, everything worked perfectly. However, copying that exact code for a different demo website, scarabpaper, the map doesn't show up at all? Could someone show me the ropes on what I'm doing wrong?   Recently at last we have switched our projects to Java 1.6. When executing the tests I found out that using 1.6 a SAXParseException is not thrown which has been thrown using 1.5. In other words, if the user-specified ErrorHandler is set, it must receive those errors, and if not, they must be treated according to the implementation specific default error handling rules. The Javadoc of the DocumentBuilder.parse(InputSource) method says: BTW: I tried setting an error handler via setErrorHandler, but there still is no exception. Now my question: What has changed to 1.6 that prevents the schema validation to throw a SAXParseException? Is it related to the schema or to the xml that I tried to parse?

• iOS: Gesture recogniser for smooth scrolling and flicking a View

  I am building an iPad app where I needed to allow resizing views functionality using divider view provided between two views. This divider view is just a 20px height view between two half screen content views - please refer attached images. When user scrolls this divider view up or down, both content views changes their sizes appropriately. I have extended UIView and implemented this using touchMoved delegate as code given below in touchesMoved delegate. It works fine. The only thing is missing with TouchMoved is you can't flick divider view to top or bottom directly. You have to scroll all the way to top or bottom! To support flicking the view I have tried UIPanGestureRecognizer but I don't see smooth scrolling with it. When I handle split position change in UIGestureRecognizerStateChanged state, just touching divider view flick it to top or bottom. Handling split position change in UIGestureRecognizerStateEnded does the same but I don't see content view resizing with dividerview scrolling! Could someone please tell me how could I achieve both smooth scrolling of divider view with resizing content views(like touchMoved) and flicking the view. Any alternative approach would also fine. • Flex: convert VideoPlayer.currentTime to string "00:00:00:000"

  Hello I am trying to modify a carousel script I have in flash. Its normal function is making some icons rotate and when clicked they zoom in, fade all others and display a little text. On that text I would like to have a link like a "read more". If I use CDATA it wont display a thing, if I use alt char like &#60;a href=&#34;www.google.com&#34;&#62; Read more + &#60;/a&#62; It just displays the text as: <a href="www.google.com"> Read more + </a>. The flash dynamic text box wont render it as html. I dont enough as2 to figure out how to add this. • Reading and writing C++ vector to a file

  For some graphics work I need to read in a large amount of data as quickly as possible and would ideally like to directly read and write the data structures to disk. Basically I have a load of 3d models in various file formats which take too long to load so I want to write them out in their "prepared" format as a cache that will load much faster on subsequent runs of the program. Is it safe to do it like this? My worries are around directly reading into the data of the vector? I've removed error checking, hard coded 4 as the size of the int and so on so that i can give a short working example, I know it's bad code, my question really is if it is safe in c++ to read a whole array of structures directly into a vector like this? I believe it to be so, but c++ has so many traps and undefined behavour when you start going low level and dealing directly with raw memory like this. • Using mcrypt to pass data across a webservice is failing

  Hi I'm writing an error handler script which encrypts the error data (file, line, error, message etc) and passes the serialized array as a POST variable (using curl) to a script which then logs the error in a central db. My curl is fairly simple: $ch = curl_init($url); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, 'data=' . $data); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); $output = curl_exec($ch); Things I suspect could be causing this: Encoding of the curl request Something to do with mcrypt padding missing bytes I've been staring at it too long and have missed something really really obvious If I turn off the crypt functions (so the transfer tx-rx is unencrypted) the data is received fine.
