How Do I disable the copy paste feature in my webpage. To be precise, I don't want my users to copy any information from my website and use them for personal purposes. The previous question on the same topic doesn't give enough explanation. The onselect and ondrag aren't working. Please help.

Use JS to add characters into textfield

I want to add a $ symbol before a users entry into a text field without actually submitting the $ when the user clicks submit. Additionally, I need to prohibit the user from entering anything but numerical values in to the text input. I know about the JQuery input mask (http://www.conetrees.com/2009/03/blog/jquery-masked-input-plugin-increase-usability-for-masked-format-input-fields) but this plugin requires you to set the exact number of digits/letters that the user is supposed to enter, which is no good for my current project. Can anyone think of a way to accomplish what I have described above?

I want to find that grandparent, then find a tag in that element, then store that text as a variable to publish elsewhere on the page. I've been trying to use the parent() function but without success. Make TBODY scrollable in Webkit browsers

I'm aware of this question, but none of the answers work in Safari, Chrome, etc. The accepted strategy (as demonstrated here) is to set the tbody height and overflow properties like so: <table> <thead> <tr><th>This is the header and doesn't scroll</th></tr> </thead> <tbody style="height:100px; overflow:auto;"> <tr><td>content that scrolls</td></tr> <tr><td>content that scrolls</td></tr> <tr><td>content that scrolls</td></tr> <tr><td>content that scrolls</td></tr> <tr><td>content that scrolls</td></tr> <tr><td>content that scrolls</td></tr> <tr><td>content that scrolls</td></tr> </tbody> </table> Unfortunately, this does not work in any webkit browsers. There is a bug report about it that doesn't seem to be a high priority (reported June 05). So my question is: are there alternate strategies that do actually work? I've tried the two-table approach, but it's impossible to guarantee that the header will line up with the content. Do I just have to wait for Webkit to fix it?

Variable not implementing correctly from if statement

I have an if statement that is supposed to set the variable $pc162v to a link specified in the MySQL table if content exists in the $vid column of the row. The problem is, the PHP is detecting that there's a link in the MySQL, but isn't setting the $pc162v variable correctly. Here's the variable declarations: $pc162v = ""; $vid162 = '<embed width="420" height="236" src="'.$pc162v.'" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed>'; Here's the section of the if statement: if (empty($row[7])) { $vid162 = ''; } else { $pc162v = $row[7]; } In my web browsers, the part of the code where the variable $vid162 is used, shows up as the following: <embed width="420" height="236" src="" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"> I have also tried setting $vid162 to: <embed width="420" height="236" src="<?php echo $pc162v; ?>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"></embed> and that just makes the code in my web browser: <embed width="420" height="236" src="<?php echo $pc162v; ?>" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"> Hope someone has a solution! capturing click events on web-browser scrollbars

Hi, is it possible to capture a click event on a scrollbar? I have some code where i am observing the click and mousedown events on the document. However, it seems that when I click on the scrollbar, the event is not captured. This leads me to believe that the scrollbars aren't really part of the document. (Assumption :-)) Is this a correct assumption? Good link checking tool?

Hi all Can anyone recommend a good, free link checker to check all pages within a domain? Ideally a browser add-on or a web app (otherwise something that runs on OSX). Crucially it needs to follow links recursively within a domain. Links outside the domain should be followed to a depth of 1, but not checked recursively. This is for the fairly common situation where you want to check all pages on your own site, but not evaluate the links on e.g. Google's homepage. I can't find anything suitable. Am I missing something? I've tried the Firefox LinkChecker add-on and the W3C link validator - neither seem to have the 'follow recursively within a domain' property, or am I being dumb? I know Xenu does this, but I don't run Windows.

How can I restore the "auto" values with for list-style-type in nested unordered lists with CSS?

By default, an unstyled set of nested <ul> lists looks like this (in Chrome, Firefox, and IE at least): The top level has a list-style-type of disc, the next level is circle, and subsequent levels are square. If I include a stylesheet that changes the list-style-type to none, is there a simple way to revert back to the "automatic bullet types" later in the document? (e.g., override with a subsequent CSS definition or JavaScript style change) Basically, I'm looking for something like list-style-type: auto; (which is apparently not valid and has no effect): <style type="text/css"> ul { list-style-type: none; } ul { list-style-type: auto; } /* Does not work */ </style> Setting the list-style-type back to disc changes every bullet in the list and I no longer see different bullets at different levels, so that doesn't work either. Is the only way to accomplish this by explicitly defining styles for every level? e.g.: <style type="text/css"> ul { list-style-type: disc; } ul ul { list-style-type: circle; } ul ul ul { list-style-type: square; } </style>

border highlighting loop with jquery

I'm having trouble coming up with a loop that changes the border color of an image from black to yellow and yellow to black over x seconds. Then applying an interrupt to the loop when the image gets clicked on. I don't know where to start, can someone point me in the right direction? I think I may be using the wrong tools to properly write this. Here's what I've come up so far, though if there's a better way to write this, do share! for( i = 100; i >= 0; i--) { $("#imgid").css("border-color", 'rgb(' + i + '%,' + i + '%,0)'); } I'm having trouble picturing how I could combine two loops so that I can also count upwards as well so that it will turn into yellow and back to black. I also don't know how to go about controlling the amount of time it takes for that loop to execute and creating an interrupt when #imigid is clicked. Which is where I'm not sure how to write.

Dropdownlist width in IE

In IE, the dropdown-list takes the same width as the dropbox (i hope i am making sense) whereas in Firefox the dropdown-list's width varies according to the content. This basically means that i have to make sure that the dropbox has to be wide enough to display the longest selection possible. this makes my page look very ugly :( Is there any workaround for this problem? How can i uses CSS to set different widths for dropbox and the dropdownlist?

What to do with a big image that's slowing website loading down significantly

Hi I'm working on a website that's already been designed by someone else. The designer has used a big image (900x700 100KB) which contains a big logo right across the top, then the background for two columns. This image loads every time a page is loaded as it forms the basis for the website. What should I do with it to improve loading time? I'm considering splitting it up into two or more images, especially the logo on the top. Does splitting up images like that decrease loading time in any significant way? Thanks -edit: Also, all the images are .jpg, would changing this to .gif or .png help anything?

How to stop IE8 from expanding a nested div's width to fit parent div?

I have a page with several levels of divs. In one of the inner divs, there are two divs (1 & 2) which have float; left so that they are on the same horizontal level. It looks good in FireFox, but in the IE8, div 2 is below div 1. I turned the borders on and noticed div2 (violet border) is filling the width of the parent box. In FF, the width is the width of all the content only. If I use a hard coded width (not a good idea), IE8 displays it fine. How can I make IE8 not expand the width of div2 to the right edge of its parent div? IE8 (not good: div2 width is expanded) Firefox (good: width of div2 is not expanded)

Chain dynamically created dropdowns with JQuery

I'm building some kind of indefinite filters for an app, and I'm havin this problem when I clone some selects. The things is this selects are chained between them, trough the Chained Selects jQuery plugin. The problem is that every time I clone the selects, the chaining stops working, and I've tryed everything, such as .live() to make it work, but it seems I'm out of luck :D Here you have a sample of what I'm talking about, http://jsfiddle.net/7K2Eu/63/ At first, the selects chain normally, but when I clone the form, they stop working, except for the first row of selects. When i check the source this <img id="wrapper-background" src="images/body-background-0.jpg" alt="Background" /> and i think theres some kind of script maybe php or js, or both, that every 5 sec changes the background: images/body-background-1.jpg images/body-background-2.jpg images/body-background-3.jpg and so on.. So how did they do this? an example would be great, as i want to learn how to do that. If i was going to do something like this i think i would only manage to do a script in php that randomize everytime you refresh. Thank you, this will expand my knowledge

Ok before i make spaghetti of this code i thought id ask around here. ive made a quiz for an online site.
