  • Java still dont recognize horizontal scroll (right click) 14.04

    I am totally trackpoint fan, I use it all the time and have disablet my touchpad. Due to my study I work a lot with MATLAB, but MATLAB uses Java, and horizontal scroll does not be recognized by java as I already reat in many other threats(well it recognizes as right click :S ). There seems to be no solution for that and disable horizontal scroll in matlab is no solution for me at all. Does anybody know about a fix for that or somehow to enable horizontal scroll java. This really drives me crazy. HELP!   • Manually updating HTML5 local storage?

    I'm just starting out HTML5 game developement (and game dev in general) and watching all the videos and tutorials available something has crossed my mind. Everyone keep saying I should set the cookie's (or cached files) to be expired after a certain amount of time. So that when it reaches that time the browser automatically downloads all assets again, even if it's the same asset's. Wouldn't it be possible to manually define the version of the game? For example the user has downloaded all the files for 1.01 of the game, when updating I change a simple variable to 1.02. When the user logs in it would compare his version to the current and if they are not equal only then it downloads the files? This could even be improved to download only specific files depending on what needs to be updated? Would this be possible or am I just dreaming? What are the possible downsides of this approach?

    I am a new user of Linux, it has been recommended to me by my friend. He told me to install software called IntelliJ Idea IDE. Well I have been following the tutorial. But now when I try to open "idea.sh", an error message pops-up: 'tools.jar' is not in IDEA classpath. Please ensure JAVA_HOME points to JDK rather than JRE. Please remember that I'm new to Ubuntu and I'm planning for a nice long stay once I get myself into it :) Also I do not know if I am running a correct Java6 JDK.   • How to I prevent decimal truncation in Word 2003 when a document is auto populated via a Web Service

    I have a document template which is being auto populated via an external web service. The incoming data exists as a currency (e.g. 3.10) but when it is passed into the Word Document template the variable is truncated to remove any trailing 0's. I need the number to always appear with 2 decimals, even if they are both 0's. This is with the 2003 version of Word, I have not tested with other versions since all of our document templates need to be generated using that version of Word. I feel like this can be done with a Macro or a VB script but I have a very small amount of time & no experience with these tools - Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Broken Links in different browsers

    Hi I'm having problems with our website, http://www.accessiblehomehealthcare.com, which is a wordpress 2.7 (version). All of a sudden our RSS links broke on the right side, which has happened before and I fixed it within 5 mins. Now, when I fix it, it doesn't look right in different version of I.E. or Firefox, I have I.E. 8 and Firefox 3.6.15 and it looks good for the most part, but there are a few parts where the links are broken. One browser the links would look ok but go to another page and the links or logos would be broken. Certain parts of the website should be static(identical) to the other pages of the site, but if a link is broken on one page, its perfect on another page. I was wondering was there a secret code for wordpress to keep the sites compatible with all browser versions or is there a bigger issue???? Any help or suggestions will help???

    I would just like to recover the files off of the wubi install and then install a proper version of ubuntu, is there any way to recover the files? for further information. I had ubuntu 11.04 and used the update manager to update it to 12.04. it worked for aproximitely a day and then I had to do a hard reset the next day after what seemed to be artifact corruption. upon trying to reboot into ubuntu it brings up the grub command prompt "gnu grub version 1.99-12ubuntu5" i have previously done hard resets on it in the past, there is nothing in my windows hidden 000 recovery folder.

  • Xubuntu keeps loading on install with usb stick

    I'm trying to install Xubuntu on my computer. I've followed a guide to create a USB bootable drive. I've inserted the USB stick and started the computer. I can see Xubuntu loading and after a minute or 2 it shows me a screen asking me if I'd like to use the live version or if I'd like to install. I choose install. Then on the next screen I select English as language. When I click continue, Xubuntu just keeps loading. It doesn't really freeze as I can still quit and move the cursor. When I clicked quit, I see the live version and all is working just fine. I can browse the internet, etc. What could be wrong?

  • Bad texture on model with different GPU

    I have some kind of distortion on the texture of my 3D model. It works perfectly well on an AMD GPU, but when testing on a integrated Intel HD graphics card it has a weird issue. I don't have a problem with the rest of my entities as they are not scaled. The models with the problems are scaled, as my engine supports different sizes for the platforms. I am using Ogre3D as rendering engine, and GLSL as shader language.     I have the last version of Chrome 5.0.xx. and my Ubuntu is also of the last version 10.04. What I usually do is to open two instances of Chrome and divide the screen into two parts. In one part my son watches cartoons in Youtube and in the other part I just read some news. So, sometimes, when I close some pages of the news I have being read the video which was being played in youtube crashes and immediately stops. I need to refresh youtube page and see the video again.   • ATI Radeon XPress 1200 Graphics Card Driver Install Problems

    I've got an ATI Radeon XPress 1200 Graphics Card, and the default driver isn't cutting it. I downloaded the proprietary driver .run file ("ati-driver-installer-9-3-x86.x86_64.run") from AMD, and tried to run it with sudo sh ati-driver-installer-9-3-x86.x86_64.run. Everytime I try and to it I get this error: Error: ./default_policy.sh does not support version default:v2:i686:lib::none:3.8.0-25-generic; make sure that the version is being correctly set by --iscurrentdistro I don't know what's throwing it, and I would really appreciate some help.   • How do I know if I am using Scrum methodologies?

    When I first started at my current job, my purpose was to rewrite a massive excel-VBA workbook-application to C# Winforms because it was thought that the new C# app will fix all existing problems and have all the new features for a perfect world. If it were a direct port, in theory it would be easy as i just need to go through all the formulas, conditional formatting, validations, VBA etc. to understand it. However, that was not the case. Many of the new features are tightly dependant on business logic which I am unfamiliar with. As a solo programmer, the first year was spent solely on deciphering the excel workbook and writing the C# app. In theory, I had the business people to "help" me specify requirements, how GUI looks and work, and testing of the app etc; but in practice it is like a contant tsunami of feature creep. At the beginning of the second year I managed to convince the management that this is not going anywhere. I made them start from scratch with the excel-VBA. I have this "issue log" saved on the network, each time they found something they didn't like about the excel-VBA app, they will write it in there. I check the log daily and consolidate issues (in my mind) mainly into 2 groups: (1) requires massive change. (2) can be fixed in current version. For massive change issues, I make a copy of the latest excel-VBA and give it a new version number, then work on it whenever I can. For current version fixes, I make the changes in a few days to a week, and then immediately release it. I also ensure I update the same change in any in-progress massive change future versions. This has gone on for about 4 months and I feel it works great. I made many releases and solved many real issues, also understood the business logic more and more. However, my boss (non-IT trained) thinks what I am doing are just adhoc changes and that i am not looking at the "bigger picture". I am struggling to convince my boss that this works. So I hope to formalise my approach and maybe borrow a buzzword to confuse him. Incidentally, I read about Agile and SCRUM, about backlog and sprints. But it's all very vague to me still. QUESTION (finally): I want to tell him that this is SCRUM! But I want to hold my breath first and ask whether my current approach is considered SCRUM or SCRUM-like? How can I make it more SCRUM-like? Note that I have only myself, there's no project leader or teams.

  • Should I choose 10.04 LTS or 10.10?

    I'm new to Ubuntu (and Linux) but I want to give it a go. I've spent a few evenings trying to get 10.10 to run but I think my nVidia 8400 GS is causing trouble; only recovery mode with failsafeX gets me to the desktop (low-res but seems to be fully functional otherwise). Given that the xx.04 vesions are long-term support, I'm wondering whether it would be smarter for me to use that. I don't need to be on the cutting edge - I prefer to have a system that just works, long-term. Later I hope to move my media center and wife's netbook over too. Question: Why should I (not?) choose the 10.04 LTS version over the newest 10.10 version?

  • How to install (or mock) Internet Explorer?

    I need to install a Windows application, which checks if there is Internet Explorer of at least 5th version installed and refuses to install (while I believe it does not really need it to work) if it is not. I've tried winetricks to install ie 8, 7, 6 full, 6 versions it offers - none worked - versions 7 and 8 installers report a function missing in msvcr (installing all msvcr versions didn't help), ie6 report some other error (I'll specify if it matters). I've also tried IEs4Linux - it also fails, complaining for a "BadIDChoice" X Window System error received by ies4linux-gtk.py. Is there a way to install any IE version in Ubuntu 10.10 with Wine or to mock its presence? I don't even need it to work, just to be installed in the Wine system so that other Windows programs could see it's there. I use Ubuntu 10.10 with Wine 1.3.8.

    I am starting emacs remotely over an ssh connection. But on the emacs window I cannot find a way to resize or move it. There is no fluxbox title bar visible, and I guess the title bar is above the visible viewport, because emacs starts vertically with more height than the screen has. The lower border of the emacs window is also below the viewport border, so I cannot resize the window. If you are usign an older version of Visual Studio you be prepared to keep to an older release like 4.3.0. The more I use StyleCop the more I like it. Code that is style cop compliant is much easier to pick up. It helps if you have GhostDoc (free) and Resharper (from jetBrains.Com)
