    The actual GPL License (that is, the text that contains the words "The licenses for most software and other practical works are designed...") is a document; I would assume therefore that it is under some sort of copyright? What license is this license licensed under? That is, if I were to include the body of the GPL License in my own projects (and perhaps create a derivative work) what limitations am I under?

  • Minecraft running slow after 13.10 upgrade

    What to took for when Minecraft is running slow (~10 FPS) after a simple Ubuntu upgrade (from 13.04 to 13.10) without any manual change in the hardware/software graphic configuration and in the Minecraft configuration? Before the upgrade, it was running very well everytime (~60 FPS constantly).     The 2013 Fall Executive Committee (EC) Elections process is now complete.  Congratulations to the following JCP Members as the new and re-elected EC Members!   We had a slight increase in JCP Member voter turnout at ~25% (up from 24% in 2012).  All Ratified candidates and the top eight Elected candidates were elected by the JCP Membership.  As part of the transition to a merged EC, Members elected in 2013 are ranked to determine whether their initial term will be one or two years. The 50% of Ratified and 50% of Elected members who receive the most votes will serve an initial two-year term, while all others will serve an initial one year term (details below).     How can i setup different power profile settings? For example i want to set low screen brightness when i am on battery power and full brightness when i am not. From "power settings" i can setup brightness but it is persistent no matter what power i use. Is there any software that i can use to prolong my battery power when i use ubuntu?     How do software applications keep track of whether the user already installed the application before in it's Windows system? Say you install app X, trial version, remove it, then re install it, and when you run it again it detects you had already installed it before. If you uninstall and clean all registry information it shouldn't know you had already installed it before... Disclaimer: I'm not trying to "hack" any application, just thinking about how this is implemented.

    I'm making OpenGL game for Android. Till now i've used only fixed function pipeline, but i'm rendering simple things. Fixed function pipeline includes a lot of stuff i don't need. So i'm thinking about implementing shaders in my game to simplify OpenGL pipeline if it can make better performance. Better performance = better battery life, unless fps is limited by software limit, not hardware power.

    I am trying to install hadoop in ubuntu 12.04 version. Following the instructions from michael-noll.com/tutorials/running-hadoop-on-ubuntu-linux-single-node-cluster/. Installed java-6-openjdk from ubuntu software center. I have set java_home in .bashrc.Also set java_home in hadoop conf/ env.sh. While formatting the namenode, getting error: usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/bin/java no such file or directory.

    hi, i have a dell mini 1012 which has an intel n450 processor and gma 3150 integrated graphics card running ubuntu 10.10 according to the intel website the graphics card support opengl 2.0 http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/quick-reference-guide-to-intel-integrated-graphics/#9 but when i type glxinfo in terminal the opengl version string gives me the following OpenGL version string: 1.4 Mesa 7.9-devel i installed the latest drivers but it didn't work. so, how can i enable opengl 2.0 on this card?? thanks
