  • WCF using ChannelFactory.CreateChannel with webHttp behavior

    - by BrettRobi
    I've got a simple REST based service for which I am trying to create a client proxy using ChannelFactory. I want to be without a configuration file so I am trying to do this in code and I believe I have everything I used to have in .config except for the behavior. Can anyone tell me how I can get this config into c# code: Here is the stripped down c# code I have now: var endpoint = new EndpointAddress(urlCommServer); var binding = new WebHttpBinding(); return ChannelFactory.CreateChannel(binding, endpoint);

  • HttpRuntime.Cache scavenging default behavior?

    - by Rire1979
When adding items using the default insert method Insert(key, value) and as such using the default behavior of HttpRuntime.Cache, when does the scavenging take place? The limit on the application pool that hosts my application is 0 (unlimited)... but I see no way to find out how big the cache can get before scavenging occurs? The problem is I am caching a potentially very large amount of data but I have limited memory on the server and I want to avoid recycling of the app pool. I am asking in the context of IIS6 and IIS7. Thank you.

  • WPF DataGrid : CanContentScroll property causing odd behavior

    - by Sonic Soul
i have a solution where i generate a DataGrid (or multiple instances) based on user criteria.. each grid keeps receiving data as it comes in via ObservableCollection the problem i had, was that the scroll acted weird. It was choppy, and scrollbar would resize it self while scrolling. than i found.. CanContentScroll property! It completely fixes the weird scrolling behavior bringing me temporary bliss and happiness. however, it causes 2 unfortunate side effects. whenever i re-create grid instances and bind them to my observable collection, it freezes my entire window for 5 seconds. when my grid grows to a big size, this delay can last for 30 seconds. when i call TradeGrid.ScrollIntoView(TradeGrid.Items(TradeGrid.Items.Count - 1)) to scroll to the bottom, it jumps to bottom and than back to the top. is there another way to achieve smooth scrolling perhaps?

  • Differences in IE8 behavior between XP, Vista, Win7?

    - by Piskvor
Is there any significant difference in behavior (HTML, CSS, Javascript, ...) with Internet Explorer 8 on different operating systems? In other words, will a web page work the same way across IE8+XP, IE8+Vista and IE8+Win7, or are there some significant differences? (I'm aware that installed plugins and fonts will have an impact, but that's a bit outside my scope at the moment; assuming compatibility mode X-UA-Compatible: IE=8 or edge) Although The IEBlog contains very useful information, I haven't found this data there - so I'm assuming that there should not be any difference. However, search has turned up this (vague) question: "IE8 on XP: looks great! IE8 on Vista: looks terrible". Will have to check IE8+{XP,V,7} in VM in the meantime.

  • php nested include behavior

    - by nute
In many places in my code, I do things like: file1.php: <?php include('../file2.php'); file2.php: <?php include('anotherdirectory/file3.php'); Depending on the server or settings I try this on, it either sets the relative paths from the "includer" or from the "includee". This is really confusing. So file1 might try to include "../anotherdirectory/file3.php" or it might try "anotherdirectory/file3.php". What settings dictate this behavior? I want to have control over this...

  • Decision Tree code golf

    - by Chris Jester-Young
In Google Code Jam 2009, Round 1B, there is a problem called Decision Tree that lent itself to rather creative solutions. Post your shortest solution; I'll update the Accepted Answer to the current shortest entry on a semi-frequent basis, assuming you didn't just create a new language just to solve this problem. :-P Current rankings: 107 Perl 121 PostScript (binary) 136 Ruby 154 Arc 160 PostScript (ASCII85) 170 PostScript 192 Python 199 Common Lisp 214 LilyPond 222 JavaScript 273 Scheme 280 R 312 Haskell 314 PHP 339 m4 346 C 406 Fortran 462 Java 476 Java (well, kind of) 718 OCaml 759 F# 1741 sed C++ not qualified for now

  • Unexpected behavior with AudioQueueServices callback while recording audio

    - by rcw3
I'm recording a continuous stream of data using AudioQueueServices. It is my understanding that the callback will only be called when the buffer fills with data. In practice, the first callback has a full buffer, the 2nd callback is 3/4 full, the 3rd callback is full, the 4th is 3/4 full, and so on. These buffers are 8000 packets (recording 8khz audio) - so I should be getting back 1s of audio to the callback each time. I've confirmed that my audio queue buffer size is correct (and is somewhat confirmed by the behavior). What am I doing wrong? Should I be doing something in the AudioQueueNewInput with a different RunLoop? I tried but this didn't seem to make a difference... By the way, if I run in the debugger, each callback is full with 8000 samples - making me think this is a threading / timing thing.

  • Override default behavior of SPACE key in .net WinForms ListView

    - by Axarydax
Hello, I'd like to implement some custom behavior of Space key in a ListView. Basically I'd like to toggle selected status of the item under cursor - that should be fairly simple this.FocusedItem.Selected = !this.FocusedItem.Selected; but alas, it also does the default action, which is to select the focused item. This way I am unable to 'unselect' the focused item. I've looked for similar problems and they suggest using PreviewKeyDown event, in which I would process the key and disallow the ListView to do its default action. But the PreviewKeyDown event argument has no "handled" property, so I cannot 'eat' this key.

  • Finding the maximum number of child nodes in a tree

    - by Jiminizer
First, I should make it clear that this is required for an academic project. I am trying to find the maximum number of child nodes for any node in a tree, using Common Lisp. My current code is shown below - I'm not 100% on the logic of it, but I feel it should work, however it isn't giving me the required result. (defun breadth (list y) (setf l y) (mapcar #'(lambda (element) (when (listp element) (when (> (breadth element (length element)) l) (setf l (breadth element (length element))) ))) list) l) (defun max-breadth(list) (breadth list (length list)) ) As an example, running (max-breadth '(a ( (b (c d)) e) (f g (h i) j))) should return 4. Does anyone have any ideas where I'm going wrong? I suspect it's related to the second conditional, but I'm not sure.

  • Behavior of a pipe after a fork()

    - by Steve Melvin
When reading about pipes in Advanced Programming in the UNIX Environment, I noticed that after a fork that the parent can close() the read end of a pipe and it doesn't close the read end for the child. When a process forks, does its file descriptors get retained? What I mean by this is that before the fork the pipe read file descriptor had a retain count of 1, and after the fork 2. When the parent closed its read side the fd went to 1 and is kept open for the child. Is this essentially what is happening? Does this behavior also occur for regular file descriptors?

  • Subsume external library into source tree with Autotools.

    - by troutwine
I am developing a new project, using Autotools for my build infrastructure. I would like to subsume external dependencies into my source tree. These dependencies are using Autotools, as well. How can I configure my project's build scripts to build and link against subsumed dependencies? Though Duret-Lutz's tutorial is excellent, this situation is only briefly addressed in a few slides. I found his explanation deeply confusing. By adding the directory name of subsumed dependencies to the toplevel Makefile.am's SUBDIRS the dependency is being configured and built. It is possible to manually set include paths through CFLAGS, but how do I link against libtool .la files?

  • Question About MP4(AAC) Binary Tree

    - by DeanMc
I'm in the very early stages of working on a tag editor for mp4 files and more specifically iTunes AAC ones. After doing some snooping around it seems that the file's structure is not as complicated as I first thought and is built in a sort of tree like the following 4 Bytes [Atom Length] 4 Bytes [Atom Name] X Bytes [Atom Data] An atom's data is as large as the length and can contain either Data(information) or another atom. What I am trying to work out is how one determines if the data is information or an actual atom. Any insight would be much appreciated.

  • Sorting tree with a materialized path?

    - by Ovid
    I have a tree structure in a table and it uses materialized paths to allow me to find children quickly. However, I also need to sort the results depth-first, as one would expect with threaded forum replies. id | parent_id | matpath | created ----+-----------+---------+---------------------------- 2 | 1 | 1 | 2010-05-08 15:18:37.987544 3 | 1 | 1 | 2010-05-08 17:38:14.125377 4 | 1 | 1 | 2010-05-08 17:38:57.26743 5 | 1 | 1 | 2010-05-08 17:43:28.211708 7 | 1 | 1 | 2010-05-08 18:18:11.849735 6 | 2 | 1.2 | 2010-05-08 17:50:43.288759 9 | 5 | 1.5 | 2010-05-09 14:02:43.818646 8 | 6 | 1.2.6 | 2010-05-09 14:01:17.632695 So the final results should actually be sorted like this: id | parent_id | matpath | created ----+-----------+---------+---------------------------- 2 | 1 | 1 | 2010-05-08 15:18:37.987544 6 | 2 | 1.2 | 2010-05-08 17:50:43.288759 8 | 6 | 1.2.6 | 2010-05-09 14:01:17.632695 3 | 1 | 1 | 2010-05-08 17:38:14.125377 4 | 1 | 1 | 2010-05-08 17:38:57.26743 5 | 1 | 1 | 2010-05-08 17:43:28.211708 9 | 5 | 1.5 | 2010-05-09 14:02:43.818646 7 | 1 | 1 | 2010-05-08 18:18:11.849735 How would I work that out? Can I do that in straight SQL (this is PostgreSQL 8.4) or should additional information be added to this table?

  • Adjacency List Tree Using Recursive WITH (Postgres 8.4) instead of Nested Set

    - by Koobz
I'm looking for a Django tree library and doing my best to avoid Nested Sets (they're a nightmare to maintain). The cons of the adjacency list model have always been an inability to fetch descendants without resorting to multiple queries. The WITH clause in Postgres seems like a solid solution to this problem. Has anyone seen any performance reports regarding WITH vs. Nested Set? I assume the Nested set will still be faster but as long as they're in the same complexity class, I could swallow a 2x performance discrepancy. Django-Treebeard interests me. Does anyone know if they've implemented the WITH clause when running under Postgres? Has anyone here made the switch away from Nested Sets in light of the WITH clause?

  • Experience/Articles about "decision tree" documentation?

    - by Philipp Keller
I'm running an "defect fixing" group (developers do 2 weeks operations, then rotate). I want to build up a documentation "how to deal with problem x" - basically a decision tree: Is the problem in part x of the web site? Yes: Is the problem occurring in all browsers? Yes: ... No: ... No: ... The documentation should be written and extended by the people using it. Do you know of any book/article describing how that is best done, or is there a software (Mac OS X) that helps doing that?

  • SQL Loop over a family tree

    - by simon831
Using SQL server 2008. I have a family tree of animals stored in a table, and want to give some information on how 'genetically diverse' (or not) the offspring is. In SQL how can I produce sensible metrics to show how closely related the parents are? Perhaps some sort of percentage of shared blood, or a number of generations to go back before there is a shared ancestor? AnimalTable Id Name mumId dadId select * from AnimalTable child inner join AnimalTable mum on child.[mumId] = mum.[Id] inner join AnimalTable dad on child.[dadId] = dad.[Id] inner join AnimalTable mums_mum on mum.[mumId] = mums_mum.[Id] inner join AnimalTable mums_dad on mum.[dadId] = mums_dad.[Id] inner join AnimalTable dads_mum on dad.[mumId] = dads_mum.[Id] inner join AnimalTable dads_dad on dad.[dadId] = dads_dad.[Id]

  • Changing the Default View Engine's view search behavior.

    - by bradhe
I'm working with ASP.NET MVC 2. I have a bunch of partial views that I render based on different conditions within the same controller. I'd like to not put the physical partial view files in with the controller's other views. I know that when I want a ViewResult using the View() or PartialView() methods the default view engine will search through the folder in the Views directory associated with the controller (i.e. if my controller is called Register it will look in the Register folder under Views) and also in the Shared folder. Is there any way to change this behavior, or perhaps tell it specifically where to look for the view -- heck, even give it a specific file to render? Is that possible? Perhaps even a sub-folder under the Shared folder will work...

  • Function with missing return value, behavior at runtime

    - by nabulke
As expected, the compiler (VisualStudio 2008) will give a warning warning C4715: 'doSomethingWith' : not all control paths return a value when compiling the following code: int doSomethingWith(int value) { int returnValue = 3; bool condition = false; if(condition) // returnValue += value; // DOH return returnValue; } int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { int foo = 10; int result = doSomethingWith(foo); return 0; } But the program runs just fine. The return value of function doSomethingWith() is 0. Is is just undefined behavior, or is there a certain rule how the result value is created/computed at runtime. What happens with non-POD datatypes as return value?

  • Suppressing default anchor behavior in Safari with jQuery

  • Algorithm to aggregate values from child tree nodes

    - by user222164
    I have objects in a tree structure, I would like to aggregate status information from children nodes and update parent node with aggregated status. Lets say node A has children B1, B2, and B1 has C1, C2, C3 as children. Each of the nodes have a status attribute. Now if C1, C2, C3 are all complete then I would like to mark B1 as completed. And if C4, C5,C6,C7 are complete make B2 as complete. When B1 and B2 are both complete mark A as complete. I can go through these nodes in brute force method and make updates, could someone suggest an efficient algorithm to do it. A { B1 { C1, C2, C3}, B2 { C4, C5, C6, C7} }

  • Subversion merging, tree merge

    - by krystan honour
I need to merge changes from a branch back into trunk but want to continue work on the existing branch. I was going to use a re-integrate merge but realised this is not suitable as I will need to recreate my branch etc which for a variety of reasons is not desirable. What I really want to do is merge the current revisions in the branch down to head and then keep people working on their current working copies. So my question is , can tree merge be used to solve this or do I have to reintegrate and recreate.

  • Silverlight Navigation - how to override Back button behavior

    - by Stephen Ellis
I'm trying to override the default behavior of the browser's back button in Silverlight (v4). Each of my XAML pages has an ability to show options. I want these options to be hidden when the user presses the back button, or to move to the previous page if the options are not visible. The Silverlight Frame seems to set back and forward points whenever the user navigates to a page with a new QueryString. Is there any other way of implementing my scenario other than having to implement a querystring component for my ShowOptions property?

  • Binary Search Tree node removal

    - by doc
I've been trying to implement a delete function for a Binary Search Tree but haven't been able to get it to work in all cases. This is my latest attempt: if(t->get_left() == empty) *t = *t->get_left(); else if(t->get_right() == empty) *t = *t->get_right(); else if((t->get_left() != empty) && (t->get_right() != empty)) { Node* node = new Node(t->get_data(), t->get_parent(), t->get_colour(), t->get_left(), t->get_right()); *t = *node; } t is a node and empty is just a node with nothing in it. I'm just trying to swap the values but I'm getting a runtime error. Any ideas? Thanks

  • Algorithms to find longest common prefix in a sliding window.

    - by nn
Hi, I have written a Lempel Ziv compressor and decompressor. I am seeking to improve the time to search the dictionary for a phrase. I have considered K-M-P and Boyer-Moore, but I think an algorithm that adapts to changes in the dictionary would be faster. I've been reading that binary search trees (AVL or with splays) improve the performance of compression time considerably. What I fail to understand is how to bootstrap the binary search tree and insert/remove data. I'm not actually quite sure the significance of each node in the binary search. I am searching for phrases so will each character be considered a node? Also how and what is inserted/removed from the search tree as new data enters the dictionary and old data is removed? The binary search tree sounds like a good payoff since it can adapt to the dictionary, but I'm just not quite sure of how it's used.
