  I am trying to set up IBatis.NET. I have downloaded the sources from http://mybatisnet.googlecode.com/svn/branches/ibatis-1-maintenance/src. • Creating a consumer of a Web Service WSDL/SOAP

  I am attempting to write a Windows Desktop App (using WCF) that is a consumer of a web service. The application: Sends a SOAP message to a British Government Server to get an authentication token based on the arugments passed Retrieves a response from that server in the form of a string which contains the authentication token. I have a template of the SOAP message from the British Government, and a WSDL file for the service. What I have tried Add a service reference using the WSDL file. I received the following error: URI formats are not supported. Add a Web Reference using the URL of the service. I received the following error: The request failed with HTTP status 405: Method Not Allowed. Send the SOAP request using a POST. The Call to GetResponse() threw a 500 External Server Error. • "Exception: msg 'axis2:null', not-found" when using a suds client with an axis2 server

  I am writing a Suds (Python) SOAP client for an Axis2 server I have no control over. Suds chokes on the WSDL file with the following exception: File "site-packages/suds/wsdl.py", line 494, in resolve raise Exception("msg '%s', not-found" % op.input) Exception: msg 'axis2:null', not-found This is the WSDL file (I have replaced the hostnames with localhost). • jQuery input mask length

  Hey all, I have an input field and I want to limit it to alphanumerical (A-Z, a-z, 0-9) characters only, with a MINIMUM field length of 5, and a maximum length of up to 15 characters total. Does anyone know how I can do this using jQuery? I'm trying to use the jQuery input mask by digitalBush - http://digitalbush.com/projects/masked-input-plugin/ The problem is that UNLESS I enter 15 characters, the field goes blank. If I enter "012345678912345" (15 characters) in the input field then the value is stored and it's fine. But if I enter "12345" as a username, when that input box loses focus its value goes back to being blank. Is there something that I can change in the "definitions" or options somewhere that fixes this? Many thanks for your help :) Tim

• Terminology: Difference between software interface, software component, software unit, software modu

  I see these terms used quite a lot between various authors, but I can't seem to fix upon definitive definitions. From my POV a software interface is a "type" specifying the way in which a software component may be used by other softare components. But what exactly a software component is I'm not entirely sure (and it seems no-one else is either). Same goes for software unit, and software module, although I suspect that a software unit is a smaller, ahem, unit than a component, and a software module has something to do with packaging. I hope this is not deemed (and downvoted) as frivulous, as I have serious intent in the asking.

• Multiple Silverlight Unit Test Projects in Solution

  I am building out a number of Silverlight 4.0 libraries that are part of the same solution. I like to break them into separate projects and have a Unit Test project for each: SolutionX -LibraryProject1 ---Class1.cs ---Class2.cs -LibraryProject1.Test ---Tests1.cs ---Tests2.cs -LibraryProject2 ---Class1.cs ---Class2.cs ---CLass3.cs -LibraryProject2.Test ---Tests1.cs ---Tests2.cs ---Tests3.cs -LibraryProject3 ---Class1.cs -LibraryProject3.Test ---Tests1.cs This works great when using VS regular test projects and infrastructure because I can create and execute list of test that are aggregated from each Test project. But with the Silverlight Unit Test Framework since the Silverlight Unit Test Project must be the "start up project" I cannot figure how to run a collection of tests from each test project in one go. I have to run each separately then switch the starting project each time. I would prefer to avoid create complex build scripts or build definitions - is there a way to run all the tests at once? -Thanks

• Which ORM to use with SQL Azure?

  Just wondering what everyones thoughts on what ORM to use for SQL Azure? I'm fairly comfortable using LINQ-to-SQL and I believe it is possible to get it working with SQL Azure. However, from my understanding (correct me if I'm wrong), no further improvements will be made to Linq-to-SQL in future releases of the .NET framework? Alternatively, there is the entity framework... and further afield from the Microsoft Camp is NHibernate. Ideally, any additional suggestions made should be free or open source. I have seen Telerik's ORM but this of course, is a commercial product. I can get the definitions/benefits of each ORM myself by doing a Google search, but I was just interested in peoples opinions as to which ORM seems to work best for them (even if it is none of the above).

• What is the most simple implementation of IDynamicMetaObjectProvider?

  Hi, I have this scenario... 1.- I'm providing a "Dynamic Table" for wich users can define Fields. Each Dynamic Table will have as many rows/records as needed, but the Field definitions are centralized. 2.- My Dynamic Row/Record class was inherited from the .NET DLR DynamicObject class, and the underlying storage was a List appropriately associated to the defining fields. Everything works fine! BUT... 3.- Because I need to Serialize the content, and DynamicObject is not Serializable, I was forced to generate and carry a Dynamic Object when dynamic member access is required. But this is ugly and redundant. So, I need to implement IDynamicMetaObjectProvider myself to achieve dynamic access and serialization together. After googling/binging unsuccessfully I ask for your help... Can anybody please give a good example (or related link) for doing that?

• Using a Generic Repository pattern with fluent nHibernate

  I'm currently developing a medium sized application, which will access 2 or more SQL databases, on different sites etc... I am considering using something similar to this: http://mikehadlow.blogspot.com/2008/03/using-irepository-pattern-with-linq-to.html However, I want to use fluent nHibernate, in place of Linq-to-SQL (and of course nHibernate.Linq) Is this viable? How would I go about configuring this? Where would my mapping definitions go etc...? This application will eventually have many facets - from a WebUI, WCF Library and Windows applications / services. Also, for example on a "product" table, would I create a "ProductManager" class, that has methods like: GetProduct, GetAllProducts etc... Any pointers are greatly received.

• Subsonic 3 fails to identify Stored Procedure Output Parameter

  Hi using Subsonic 3.0.0.3 it appears there is some issue with Subsonic identifying Stored Procedure paramters as output parameters. In the StoredProcedures.cs class I find my stored procedure definition but the last parameter is defined incorrectly as a 'AddParameter'. sp.Command.AddParameter("HasPermission",HasPermission,DbType.Boolean); When I sp.Execute() and attempt to read the value of the sp.Command.OutputValues[0] the value is null. If the definition is edited to be like this; sp.Command.AddOutputParameter("HasPermission", DbType.Boolean); Then the value is returned and is correct value type I am not sure how I 'fix' this - as everytime I regen the SP class via the 'Run Custom Tool' the parameter definitions require editing. Should I edit a T4 template somehow? Please advise. EDIT: I forgot to mention I am using MS SQL 2008 (10.0.2531)

• Callbacks in Thrift Asynchronous Functions?

  Hi all, In Thrift it is possible to use the oneway modifier to specify a call as asynchronous. Apparently, it's not possible to define a callback, though, to be executed when the execution of the function is completed. It seems that the only possibility I have is to give my Thrift client (PHP) some "server" capabilities, so that, when the heavy computation is completed on the server side, I can send a notification to it. This means that I should have a new .thrift file, with new definitions, new services and all the rest and that I should generate php-server side code with Thrift. Even if this is feasible, it looks like an overkill to me and I'm wondering if there's a more clever way to implement the callback. Looking forward for some feedback from you, guys.

  Hi, I'm using Cucumber to test a PHP application, and while most everything works without issue, I haven't yet figured out how to retrieve a response object for a request -- I'm looking to test whether a response is successful (code 200) and also to perform some Hpricot parsings of the response body. • Superfluous python parameters

  I've noticed a discrepancy in the way that python parameters are called. In every other language I've dealt with, you either have foo() meaning either no parameters, or as many parameters as you like, or foo(arg1, arg2,...,argn) where you pass in the same number of parameters to define the function and call it. In python however, I've noticed that the function definitions, and when the function is called, can have two different parameters sets, this usually consists of: class foo(object): def bar(self, arg1, arg2): pass However, when I want to call the function, all I have to do is: zoo = foo() zoo.bar(arg1, arg2) Where did the self parameter go? • wxWidgets: How to initialize wxApp without using macros and without entering the main application l

  We need to write unit tests for a wxWidgets application using Google Test Framework. The problem is that wxWidgets uses the macro IMPLEMENT_APP(MyApp) to initialize and enter the application main loop. This macro creates several functions including int main(). The google test framework also uses macro definitions for each test. One of the problems is that it is not possible to call the wxWidgets macro from within the test macro, because the first one creates functions.. So, we found that we could replace the macro with the following code: wxApp* pApp = new MyApp(); wxApp::SetInstance(pApp); wxEntry(argc, argv); That's a good replacement, but wxEntry() call enters the original application loop. If we don't call wxEntry() there are still some parts of the application not initialized. The question is how to initialize everything required for a wxApp to run, without actually running it, so we are able to unit test portions of it?

• Host new WF4 workflows in appfabric

  Hello, I am new to using AppFabric to host WF services. I am trying to write a workflow admin application that will allow users to create xaml workflow definitions using the hosted WF4 designer, and then somehow allow those workflow defitions to be automatically deployed and hosted in AppFabric with the click of a button. I have the designer going, and I have read a couple of tutorials on how to host workflow services in AppFabric such as http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee677238.aspx, but my problem is how to deploy and host the workflow services via code. Does anyone know if this sort of "autodeploy/host" thing can be done with AppFabric? If so, could you point me in the right direction on this? -David

  Hi all i have a that contains a HORIZONTAL menu. the menu consists of an unordered list. i would like the div to get a horizontal scroller whenever the menu exceeds the width of the <div>. i tried using these CSS definitions for my <div>: position: absolute; width: 380px; overflow: auto; overflow-y: hidden; height: 30px; but than realized that since the menu is LIST, the different list items break the line whenever they reach the width of the <div> and move on to the next line, thus the browser doesnt see the need for a horizontal scroller (it doesnt display a vertical one as well because of the overflow-y: hidden; line) any ideas how i can create a 1 line horizontal menu which will scroll horizontally only? thank you all so much.

This is my first post on stackoverflow, so please don't flame me too hard if I come across like a total nitwit or if I'm unable ot make myself perfectly clear. :-) Here's my problem: I'm trying to write a javascript function that "ties" two functions to another by checking the first one's completion and then executing the second one. The easy solution to this obviously would be to write a meta function that calls both functions within it's scope. However, if the first function is asynchronous (specifically an AJAX call) and the second function requires the first one's result data, that simply won't work. My idea for a solution was to give the first function a "flag", i.e. making it create a public property "this.trigger" (initialized as "0", set to "1" upon completion) once it is called; doing that should make it possible for another function to check the flag for its value ([0,1]). If the condition is met ("trigger == 1") the second function should get called.
