• nHibernate session - Using repository pattern in Web, windows, wcf etc...

  I recently posted a question which was answered by Bryan Watts, regarding generic repository for nHibernate. I'm trying to design my data access to allow various facets - from ASP.net, WCF and Windows Forms / Windows services. I'm a bit confused re: session management etc.. How would I handle this? I've been checking out code such as: http://membranecms.googlecode.com/svn/ and questions such as: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1207833/nhibernate-linq-session-management But what do i do if i don't just do things in a web based environment..? Do i need to create different repositories for each client? Or do i pass in the ISession into the (for example) UserRepository constructor..? ... as a side note I'm using nHibernate.Linq Also using fluent nHibernate to config my mapping

• Jrun Server crashes when a page has cfform,cfgrid,cflayout etc..

  Hi, I am having a weird problem. I have a application that works perfect in my development machine and UAT machine which is of windows 2003 server/cf8. When i uploaded the same application on Solaris box with CF8, and access the site it works perfect until i hit the page that has CFFORM, CFLAYOUT, CFGRID.. etc.. The Jrun Server just crashes[jrpp-2 unexpected constant#48...]. There is nothing available in any of the logs. Please help me how to resolve this thing...!! • Good piece of software that can manage the creation of complex web forms, including reporting, etc?

  I have some clients who are requesting for some of their reasonably complex paper-based forms to be converted in to web forms. There's straight Q&A text input stuff, there's questions based around checkboxes, radio boxes, select boxes, maybe the occasional attached image, there's data that has to be entered in a tabular fashion, etc. I am deciding whether I should build a "platform" with properly normalised tables to store all types of form data. But before that, I thought I had better check and see if there is anything like that already on the market. I am looking for a product that can: * Easily create web forms of all types * Store all data in a database * Extensive reporting capability I have had a bit of a look around but there's not a whole lot I can see. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

• Does Apache need to be stopped to edit "/etc/apache2/sites-available/default"?

  I am attempting to edit the "default" file located at .. "/etc/apache2/sites-available/default" on my Ubuntu machine running Apache 2.2.8. I want to do this in order to enable the use of .htaccess files. I have downloaded the "default" file and edited it and now I am trying to upload it back to the server via SFTP. I keep getting permission denied errors. Could it be because Apache is running and making use of the file? I am an admin on the machine so I would expect to be able to overwrite the file. Thanks for any assistance.

• Can't seem to stop Postfix backscatter

  I've just migrated to a Postfix system and can't seem to stop the backscatter messages to unknown addresses on the site. I have a file, validrcpt, that lists all the valid emails on the site - about eight of them. Yet when a message is sent to a non-existent address, instead of just dropping it, postfix is replying with a "Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual mailbox table" email. Do I have something set wrong? I've read http://www.postfix.org/BACKSCATTER_README.html but unless I'm caffeine deficient, I don't see what's happening and perhaps I'm just to used to my old qmail setup. • MySQL extension of PHP not working

  In a Debian server, and after intallation and removal of SquirrelMail (with some downgrade and upgrade of php5, mysql...) the MySQL extension of PHP has stopped working. I have php5-mysql installed, and when I try to connect to a database through php-cli, i connect successfully, but when I try to connect from a web served by Apache I cannot connect. This script, run by php5-cli: echo phpinfo(); $link = mysql_connect('localhost', 'user, 'password'); if (!$link) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } echo 'Connected successfully'; mysql_close($link); Prints the phpinfo, which includes "/etc/php5/cli/conf.d/mysql.ini", and also the MySQL section with all the configuration: SOCKET, LIBS... And then it prints "Connectes successfully". But when run by apache accessed by web browser, it displays the phpinfo, which includes "/etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/mysql.ini", but has the MySQL section missing, and the script dies printing "Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect()". Note that both "/etc/php5/cli/conf.d/mysql.ini" and "/etc/php5/apache2/conf.d/mysql.ini" are in fact the same configuration, because I have in debian the structure: /etc/php5/apache2 /etc/php5/cgi /etc/php5/cli /etc/php5/conf.d And both point at the same directory: /etc/php5/apache2/conf.d -> ../conf.d /etc/php5/cli -> ../conf.d Where /etc/php5/conf.d/mysql.ini consists of one line: extension=mysql.so So my question is: why is the MySQL extension for PHP not working if I have the configuration included just in the same way as in php-cli, which is working?   Hi, API referred : http://www.salesforce.com/us/developer/docs/api/index.htm subsection: reference-standard objects Client side details : partner.wsdl, Axis2 1.5, generated stubs using unpacked option (-u). I was hoping to find some basic objects like Account, Contact, etc (which were listed on above url) so that I can do something like - SObject[] sObjArray = queryResult.getRecords(); for(SObject sObj : sObjArray){ Account acc = [Account] sObj; } [used above approach successfully in another webservice - 'Zuora'] However, I could not find Account class in the generated classes. I guess I am into wrong approach, but atleast I should be finding the classes listed in the reference API. Please help.

  Im looking for a way to moniter system statistics, here are my main points of interest: CPU Tempature CPU speed, (Cycles per second) CPU Load (Idle percent) GPU Tempature Some other points of interest: Memory useage Network Load (Traffic Up/Down) My ultimate goal is to write an application that can be used for easily running in the backround, and allow setting many events fr certain actions, for instance When processer temp gets to 56C -> Do _Blank_ etc. So this leaves me two main points. Is there a framework already out there for this sort of thing? If No to #1, How can i go about doing this?

• Can a WoW64 process create/fork/etc pure x64 process ?

I wish to call a x64 exe from x86 process/exe, for example: open x32 cmd : %windir%\SysWoW64\cmd.exe start notepad: notepad.exe <- it will be x32 notepad (according to taskmanager = *) Is it possible to execute the x64 notepad from the x32 cmd ? My problem is the process I'm executing must run as x64, I don't want it to work as x86 (WoW) since it acts differently... this is how it was programmed and I can't change it :-( and my exe is x86... To simplify my question: can a WoW process create/fork/etc pure x64 process ? many thanks YB

  Anyone know of a project(s) that seek to abstract form definitions on level higher than WPF, Silverlight, Winforms, WebForms, etc... I'm working on a project where we are fixing up 16 somewhat simple WebForms. But we may convert (and probably will convert to WPF or Silverlight 3 to 4 months from now. I'd rather define these forms once and be done with it. I'm willing to write a small DSL to help define forms, subforms, validation, links, and popups. I'm only looking to solve this for 80% or 90% of the forms. Four are very complicated and I'm willing to hand code these. I guess I'm looking for something like what XUL had hoped to be.

• I try install dhcp3-server, but /etc/init.d/dhcp3-server file is missing. Whats going on?

  I've found several how-to's that essentially go through the same process in setting up DHCP. Here's a link that has the list of step needed install and setup DHCP. I follow all the steps and find that the sudo /etc/init.d/dhcp3-server restart portion returns command not found only to reveal the the file doesn't even exist. I've installed (sudo apt-get install dhcp3-server) and uninstalled (sudo apt-get remove dhcp3-server) two or three times. I'm pretty sure my config files are good because I've had to check them three times. But I don't think I'm to that point of being able to see them action it. I cant control the process. Why is the file missing? How is it supposed to get there? Help?

  I'm trying to run only the browser in the system - locking access to everything else. Only the supervisor can resume the normal functioning of the system after giving a password. This kind of activity is usually done by virus. Disabling the registry for Task manager etc. Does anyone know of any source available that does this? I might be able to pull it off in Windows XP. But have anyone tried this in Windows 7 ? The aim is to to emulate the Chrome OS on Windows. Only the browser. Nothing else.

• Rails - How do you dynamically call the request methods "get put destroy etc" at runtime in tests

  I'm always writing tests to check my controller restricts people from certain actions depending on their status i.e. logged in, admin? etc Regardless of whether its a get to :index or a puts to :create the code is always the same. I'm trying to refactor this so that i have one method such as should_redirect_unauthenticated_to_login_action(request, action) and call it like so should_redirect_unauthenticated_to_login_action(:get, :index) = get :index But not sure how to dynamically call the various response methods rails provides for functional tests which seem to live in the module ActionController I mucked around with module = Kernel.const_get("ActionController") module::TestProcess.get NoMethodError: undefined method `get' for ActionController::TestProcess:Module can anyone help (im very new to dynamic calling in ruby)

• Should I still use querystrings for page number, etc, when using ASP.NET 4 URL Routing?

  I am switching from Intelligencia's UrlRewriter to the new web forms routing in ASP.NET 4.0. I have it working great for basic pages, however, in my e-commerce site, when browsing category pages, I previously used querystrings that were built into my pager control to control paging. An old url (with UrlRewriting) would be: http://www.mysite.com/Category/Arts-and-Crafts_17 I now have a MapPageRoute defined in global.asax as: routes.MapPageRoute("category-browse", "Category/{name}_{id}", ~/CategoryPage.aspx"); This works great. Now, somebody clicks to go to page 2. Previously I would have just tacked on ?page=2 as the querystring. Now, How do I handle this using web forms routing? I know I can do something like: http://www.mysite.com/Category/Arts-and-Crafts_17/page/2 But in addition to page, I can have filters, age ranges, gender, etc. Should I just keep defining routes that handle these variables, or should I continue using querystrings and can I define a route that allows me to use my querstrings like before?

The active patterns in Microsoft.FSharp.Quotations.Patterns and Microsoft.FSharp.Quotations.DerivedPatterns used for decomposing quoted expressions will typically provide MemberInfo instances when appropriate, these can be used to obtain the name of a property, function, etc. and their "declaring" type, such as a module or static class. The problem is, I only know how to obtain the CompiledName from these instances but I'd like the F# name. • Android -- Can't play any videos (mp4/mov/3gp/etc.)?

  Hello all, I'm having great difficulty getting my Android application to play videos from the SD card. It doesn't matter what size, bitrate, video format, or any other setting I can think of, neither the emulator nor my G1 will play anything I try to encode. I've also tried a number of videos from the web (various video formats, bitrates, with and without audio tracks, etc.), and none of those work either. All I keep getting is a dialog box that says: "Cannot play video" "Sorry, this video cannot be played." There are errors reported in LogCat, but I don't understand them and I've tried searching the Internet for further explanations without any luck.   Greetings, based on the jquery ui accordion I'm using, I have added a slide toggle to my accordion list items. so what happens is I click on an li and a div slides down underneath to reveal more content. The issue I'm having is that I find myself having to create multiple id's to reference the slidetoggle. example of the div id css: #panel, #panel2, #panel3, #panel4, etc.... the Is there a way I can use the slide toggle without having to adding another number so it will slide? • Single Sign On for WebServices, WCS, WFS, WMS (Geoserver), etc.

  I'm trying to implement a Single Sign On (SSO) for a web application. Maybe you can help me find a proper solution, give me a direction or tell me, that solutions already exist. The scenario: A GeoExt (ExtJS for geodata/map based apps) webapp (JavaScript only) has a login form to let the user authenticate himself. The authentication is not implemented yet, so i'm flexible with respect to that. After authenticating to the main webapp the user indirectly accesses multiple 3rd-party services like WebServices, GeoServer WFS, Google Maps, etc. These services might require additional authentication like credentials or keys. We are (so far) not talking about additional login screens, just some kind of "machine to machine"-authentication. The main problem: I'm unable to modify the 3rd party services (e.g. Google) to add a SSO mechanism. I'd like to have a solution that allows the user to log in once to have access to all the services required. My first idea was a repository that stores all the required credentials or keys. The user logs in and can retrieve all required information to acces sthe other services. Does anybody know of existing implementations, papers, maybe implementations of such services? Other requirements: The communication between the JS application and the repository must be secure. The credentials must be stored in a secure manner. But the JS app must be able to use them to access the services (no chance to store a decryption key in a JS-app securely, eh? *g).
