  I'm trying to do another SEO system with PHP/.htaccess... I need the following rules to apply: Must catch all URLs that do not end with an extension (www.foo.com -- catch | www.foo.com/catch-me -- catch | www.foo.com/dont-catch.me -- don't catch). Must catch all URLs that end with .php* (.php, .php4...) (thwaw are the exceptions to rule #1). All rules must only apply in some directories and not in their subdirectories (/ and /framework so far). The htaccess must send the typed URL in a GET value so I can work with it in PHP. Any mod-rewrite wizard can help me?

  I'm want to develop a macro where in my excel worksheet I type a date in a specific cell, and the macro will go into a folder containing text files. A database you could say. • mysqld stopped working..can't restart...need help?

  i was just checking somethings and noticed mysqld is not running in parallels power panel control panel...but my websites on the server were all working fine, which use mysql databases...so really strange So i tried to restart mysqld but got errors and can't restart and now all my websites are all offline now saying error connecting to database. logged in as root and tried /etc/init.d/mysqld start and got this error ERROR! Manager of pid-file quit without updating file What do i do next? What do i do? Please help!

  I have a server with a IP 1.0.0.5/24. This is the main IP address of the server, and now I have two other IP addresses for the server, they are 1.0.2.30/24 and 1.0.2.31/24. I want to make a VirtualBox running another OS accessible through the Internet, and only allow the specified IP to reach the virtual box. I'm new to iptables and therefore I need some basic help and getting started information about this. The hosting provider does not allow more than on MAC address per switch port, which means that I'm not able to make bridge as far as I know. Futhermore I want the host, to reject the extra IPs so its only the VirtualBox / virtual machine that accepts the request's on the extra IPS.

• Windows Internet Connection Issue (HELP)

  I have a windows 8 hp dual booting ubuntu. When i log onto windows i cant get on the internet... But skype and other applications can just now webpages in a browser what so ever (this is on windows 8). But on ubuntu i have no internet issues at all. From what i see right now its only the browsers in windows 8 that cant get the internet, and ive tried all the browsers i had (chrome, ie, firefox) and they cant connect but in the win8 notification area it says im connected. I can even ping via cmd. HELP! Thanks. Whats not working is that i cant get access the internet through the windows 8 broswer.

• HELP! Snow Leopard's Desktop Icons keeps Resizing Repeatedly

  I'm using a new macbook 10.6.5. I've been using mac OS for years. However, the problem that I'm getting is that the desktop icons keep resizing repeatedly. It keeps going to the biggest size possible and its driving me crazy. I've been resizing it back to medium size all the time. But when I start doing something at the finder it starts resizing by itself once again. Is there a fix to this problem? Please help.

• Will an SSD help prevent laptop overheating?

  My laptop has a severe overheating problem, even though it's quite new (< 6 month). It's still regularly overheating to the point where it shuts down. This usually happens while playing games but sometimes while watching videos or using Skype video calls for a long time. I'm already keeping it mid-air on a cooling tray with 2 external coolers, but that doesn't seem to help. The only other thing I can think of is installing an SSD instead of the current HDD. I've read up that they generate less heat then hard drives, but can it actually make a serious difference to the heat level of the laptop? If there are any other suggestions, please feel free to comment. The laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L650D-11R.

• need help setting up a VPN for remote computer connection

  I am on a low budget right now. I am currently in the process of starting a computer company. I am in need of a VPN network so I can run Dameware tools for working on customers/partners computers remotely. I will be working with Windows and some Apple and linux machines. I have desktop with an AMD Phenom II 965BE(currently running stable at 3.8Ghz) processor with 8 GB of ram and a radeon hd 6870(i know graphics aren't too useful) and about 1.5TB of HDD space. I am attempting to create a network out of my office based all on one machine that would also be secure for me to remotely connect to my partners computers so when they have issues I would be able to connect and do the diagnosing and repairs remotely. What types of servers besides a VPN server would i need to create this? I have access to all Microsoft products so I can run Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008 R2, or any other Microsoft Software. thanks for the help all

Everytime a window gets a focus or it gets activated( ex: when you click on it ) ,the window appears the top most of all windows. So I want to stay forever in the 'background'. • Solr on Tomcat (Ubuntu OS) installation help

  I have to install Solr on my Ubuntu Server. However, Solr wont work without Tomcat or another container, and also Java. I have successfully installed tomcat6 and java. BUT, in a tomcat6 guide online, it says I should configure iptables to allow connections via port 8080, which I have done. Then the guide says I can test the tomcat6 by going to: http://my_ip_adress:8080 But this makes the browser just load and wait somehow for a response, and finally display "website not available". I have NO clue how to install Solr with Tomcat. Does anybody know how? How do I know Tomcat6 works? BTW: When I do this: /etc/init.d/tomcat6 start then it says OK. If you need something let me know, I really need help with this one. Thanks UPDATE: When executing this: sudo /etc/init.d/tomcat6 status it respons is Tomcat servlet engine is running with pid 28641

  First of all, the router I am using is a Cisco WRVS4400N. My company runs a software which handles the MySQL database of all of their products. The software now has an e-commerce module, so I have to set up a secure tunnel from our network to the server that will be hosting our e-commerce site so that when the database is updated, the site will also be updated. The technician completeing the job said there is an IP conflict, and has asked me to NAT 192.168.0.0/24 to 192.168.115.0/24. I am not really sure how to do this, and they want to charge $150 an hour to do it for me. Can anyone help?

  I am trying to learn redirection for a WordPress site of my own. I am testing the concept of redirecting a single WordPress post by using a dummy site. However, it doesn't seem to be working for me. • Simple P2V help from Linux to Windows

  I have two OS's installed on different drives in my PC. One linux (Centos 5.4) and one windows 7. Its getting tiresome to constantly have to stop and restart the PC when I want to use either OS. I would very much like to use Windows 7 as my host OS and access my linux OS from within Windows. However, im having trouble deciphering exactly how to do this (many of the articles seem confusing and a bit overkill) From what i have seen its possible to use VMWare converter to convert the physical linux image to a virtual image so that I can use it in windows. As im having problems understanding how this is done, I would really appreciate a step by step guide (for a newbie), or any simple tutorials that you can point me at. Some questions beforehand: 1) My linux image is around 80gb, do i need to take this into consideration? The linux drive is around 180gb in total. All my other drives are NTFS non writeable in linux (as I use them in windows and ntfs is dodgy in linux), so probably not possible to move the image over to my ntfs drives 2) Can I just zip the linux files up somehow and transfer it to windows to create the p2v? 3) Is it possible to do the P2V conversion while I am logged into windows. I can see the actual linux drive loaded in disk manager, but windows doesnt read linux file systems so im confused as to how to access the linux drive if this is possible. 4) Or will i need to do the whole p2v conversion inside linux?   Hi serverfault universe, I work for a medium sized (roughly 200 user) company. We are attempting to intagrate our new Cisco Spam Video Blocker (ironport) device into our network so that it acts as an incoming filter then passes it off to our Lotus domino mail server. And also vise versa. The way our network is setup currently has an mx record pointing to our Domino mail SMTP incoming server which is currently setup to be an inbound gateway and filter (using symantec domino mail software). We want to replace the inbound gateway with the ironport. Our company has also invested in a pool of external IP addresses which I believe has been currently assigned to our web, email, servers. What would the proper course of action be to successfully integrate the device be? Mx record change? Replace the domino gateway completely with the ironport? We attempted to set the ironport device to the external IP of what our mx record is pointing to without much success. Any help on proper setup would be greatly appreciated.

• nginx with stub_status.. need help with nginx.conf

  Hello I am trying to setup nginx with stub status so I can monitor nginx requests etc.. with serverdensity.com. However It seems I lost "include" part in my nginx.conf and now none of vhosts in sites-enabled work. • Need Help Accessing the Vista Wampserver localhost from Virtual PC 2007 running an XP VM.

  (I had posted this on stack overflow but it was suggested there that I post it here instead). I have a Vista laptop on which I'm running wampserver. I have Virtual PC 2007 setup with Windows XP running on the VM. My goal is to be able to use the XP VM to run IE6 to view the localhost in the Vista wampserver. I'm not interested in having the XP VM have any access to the internet -- only to my Vista wampserver's localhost. The vista wampserver works fine. As suggested on a blog I read, I installed the loopback adapter on Vista and I set the loopback to 192.168.21.1 and I set the xp vm ip to 192.168.21.2. I am able to successfully ping the vista-loopback adapter from the xp vm. I've turned the wampserver to "server online", and I've disabled the firewalls in both the vista host and the xp vm. But for some reason, I still can't seem to get the virtual XP to see the localhost on the vista wampserver. I've tried using the vista //name, and I've tried the ip 192.168.21.1 directly and with the port. For whatever its worth, I'm not able to see anything under the XM VM's network places (though I don't know if I'm supposed to be able to see anything). So at this point I'm stuck and I'm still not sure how to get this XP VM to "talk" to my vista wampserver localhost. Any advice on how to fix this problem is much appreciated. • Bind9 DNS help with psuedo domains

  I have setup a dns server on my home network to manage some apps that I have written for home. Currently I have 3 "domains" that I am using: controller devserver fileserver The first issue that I am having is that when I attempt to ping the parent domain of any of these 3 I am unable to. I simply get ping: unknown host controller. I however can ping any of the subdomains I have setup for these 3 parent domains. The second issue is I am unable to ping any of the 3 parent domains or any child domains from my window machines. I have verified that these domains work on other devices in my house (ipod touch, ipad, cell phone). • Two NIC's 2 Internet Connections, 1 Windows Server 2008 RC2, Routing help required

  Hello, I have a Windows 2008 server and 4 other client machines on my home network. I have two internet connections. The main connection is setup with a home router and DHCP on that for all the clients on the network. The secondary connection is just a cable modem which is plugged directly into the server. Local Area Connection: This NIC has an external IP and is connected to the Cable Modem. Local Area Connection 2: This NIC has an internal IP (192.168.0.102) and allows access to all the internal computers. It also has internet access via the local router. So here lies the problem, I want to use the Cable connection on the server for the internet traffic (so that the traffic for server/clients are seperated) but I also need to maintain local access. I am wondering how to make it so that all the internet traffic goes via that NIC because at the moment it goes through the local NIC. As a secondary problem I would also like to forward the connection of one application used by the clients via the server and the cable/server internet because of poor routing for it on the main connection. This perhaps is something for another question though. Thanks for any help you can offer me. Regards PJ
