  This was a problem related to one of the past topcoder exam problems called HowEasy. Let's assume that we're given a sentence, for instance, "We a1re really awe~~~some" I just wanted to take get rid of every word in the sentence that doesn't contain alphabet characters, so in the above sentence, the desired output would be "We really" The below is the code I wrote (incomplete), and I don't know how to move on to the next string when the condition (the string contains a character that's not alphabet) is met. • Dynamically change embedded video src in IE/Chrome (works in Firefox)

  I'm trying to dynamically change an embedded video on a page. It's working in Firefox but for some reason it's not working in IE and Chrome (strange combination).   I am confused about the memory allocation in C++ in terms of the memory areas such as Const data area, Stack, Heap, Freestore, Heap and Global/Static area. I would like to understand the memory allocation pattern in the following snippet. Can anyone help me to understand this.   Hi Is there a better simplified way to write this query. My logic is if collection contains customer ids and countrycodes, do the query ordey by customer id ascending. If there are no contain id in CustIDs then do the order by customer name. Is there a better way to write this query? • Why does the onclick function run on onclick, but not when I call it manually?

But when I override the onclick with my JS code, the alert does not pop up. Any ideas? What I want to do with this panel is as follow: I want to add a JScrollPane to it in order to show images in their full size and let the users to re-center the image using the small navigation panel. Right now, the panel resize the images to fit them in the current panel size. • Ubuntu Linux: Process swap memory and memory usage

  My Ubuntu eats more memory than the task manager is showing: sudo ps -e --format rss | awk 'BEGIN{c=0} {c+=$1} END{print c/1024}' 1043.84 free -m total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 3860 1878 1982 0 20 679 -/+ buffers/cache: 1178 2681 Swap: 2729 1035 1693 That's strange. Can someone explain this difference? But what is more important: I'd like to know how much memory a process is really using. I don't want to know the virtual memory size, but rather the resident memory plus swap of a process. I have also tried to output the format param "sz" of 'ps', but the sum of this is to high (5450 MB) (param 'size' gives 8323.45 MB). Are there any other options? I really want to use this, to determine which programs/processes are eating to much memory (and swap), to kill them, because hibernate might not be working if the swap partition is to little.

Domain2.com is old as the hills but we still need to support it. Is it possible to translate all requests from domain2.com to domain1.com. For example: Client requests: http://www.domain2.com/someprofile.asp?param=1 url is transformed into http://www.domain1.com/someprofile.asp?param=1 Firewall is ISA Server 2006 running on Windows Server 2003.   Hi, I'm trying out Zend Studio trial and I have a few things on my mind related to PhpDoc. If I have the following code: public function sum($a, $b) { echo $a + $b; } and then I start typing /** in the front of the function and press Enter, Zend Studio automatically makes the following text: /** * [cursor] * @param unknown_type $a * @param unknown_type $b */ However, I want to customize this so that it also includes @return void automatically since there's no return inside the function. Is there a way to do this? And what about things like @access? It's obviously "public". Another thing I want is that when I create a new file and I use the code templates with ${user}, it will use my Windows account, but I want it to use something else - is there a way to specify this "user"?

• How to group using XSLT

  I'm having trouble grouping a set of nodes. I've found an article that does work with grouping and i have tested it and it works on a small test stylesheet i have I now need to use it in my stylesheet where I only want to select node sets that have a specific value. What I want to do in my stylesheet is select all users who have a userlevel of 2 then to group them by the volunteer region. What happens at the minute is that it gets the right amount of users with userlevel 2 but doesn't print them. I'm using a bottom-up approach for hibernate configuration (which means letting hibernate-tools generate the hibernate configuration using a jdbc-connection for you via reverse-engineering on an existing database schema). I've read this, but also this already (those two can be unrelated, but can also leave a hint).   I'm having an issue where when I publish my modspecs to pdf (XSL-FO). My tables are having issues, where the content of a cell will overflow its column into the next one. How do I force a break on the text so that a new line is created instead? I can't manually insert zero-space characters since the table entries are programmatically entered. • Managing highly repetitive code and documentation in Java

  Highly repetitive code is generally a bad thing, and there are design patterns that can help minimize this. However, sometimes it's simply inevitable due to the constraints of the language itself. I believe that unless one resorts to reflection (which is an entirely different subject in itself), this repetition is inevitable. I understand that as a utility class, such high concentration of repetitive Java code is highly atypical, but even with the best practice, repetition does happen! Refactoring doesn't always work because it's not always possible (the obvious case is when the repetition is in the documentation). Obviously maintaining this source code is a nightmare. A slight typo in the documentation, or a minor bug in the implementation, is multiplied by however many repetitions was made. In fact, the best example happens to involve this exact class: Google Research Blog - Extra, Extra - Read All About It: Nearly All Binary Searches and Mergesorts are Broken (by Joshua Bloch, Software Engineer) The bug is a surprisingly subtle one, occurring in what many thought to be just a simple and straightforward algorithm. // int mid =(low + high) / 2; // the bug int mid = (low + high) >>> 1; // the fix The above line appears 11 times in the source code! So my questions are: How are these kinds of repetitive Java code/documentation handled in practice? How are they developed, maintained, and tested? Do you start with "the original", and make it as mature as possible, and then copy and paste as necessary and hope you didn't make a mistake? And if you did make a mistake in the original, then just fix it everywhere, unless you're comfortable with deleting the copies and repeating the whole replication process? And you apply this same process for the testing code as well? Would Java benefit from some sort of limited-use source code preprocessing for this kind of thing? Perhaps Sun has their own preprocessor to help write, maintain, document and test these kind of repetitive library code? A comment requested another example, so I pulled this one from Google Collections: com.google.common.base.Predicates lines 276-310 (AndPredicate) vs lines 312-346 (OrPredicate). • Opening an SQL CE file at runtime with Entity Framework 4

  I am getting started with Entity Framework 4, and I an creating a demo app as a learning exercise. The app is a simple documentation builder, and it uses a SQL CE store. Each documentation project has its own SQL CE data file, and the user opens one of these files to work on a project. The EDM is very simple. A documentation project is comprised of a list of subjects, each of which has a title, a description, and zero or more notes. So, my entities are Subject, which contains Title and Text properties, and Note, which has Title and Text properties. There is a one-to-many association from Subject to Note. I am trying to figure out how to open an SQL CE data file. A data file must match the schema of the SQL CE database created by EF4's Create Database Wizard, and I will implement a New File use case elsewhere in the app to implement that requirement. Right now, I am just trying to get an existing data file open in the app. I have reproduced my existing 'Open File' code below. I have set it up as a static service class called File Services. The code isn't working quite yet, but there is enough to show what I am trying to do. I am trying to hold the ObjectContext open for entity object updates, disposing it when the file is closed. So, here is my question: Am I on the right track? What do I need to change to make this code work with EF4? Is there an example of how to do this properly? Thanks for your help.   I'm making a DataGridView with a series of Checkboxes in it with the same labels horizontally and vertically. Any labels that are the same, the checkboxes will be inactive, and I only want one of the two "checks" for each combination to be valid. The following screenshot shows what I have: Anything that's checked on the lower half, I want UN-checked on the upper. So if [quux, spam] (or [7, 8] for zero-based co-ordinates) is checked, I want [spam, quux] ([8, 7]) un-checked. Basically, how do I get the "right" address with the right boolean value so that my flipping algorithm will work?

• C# SQLite file import prevent duplicates

  Hi, I am attempting to get a directory (which is ever-growing) full of .txt comma delimited files to import into my SQLite db. I now have all of the files importing ok, however I need to have some way of excluding the files that have been previously added to db. I have a column in the db called FileName where the name and extension are stored next to each record from each file. Now I need to say 'If the code finds XXX.txt and XXX.txt is already in db, then skip this file'.   I am using the below piece of XSL to select the id of the text nodes whose content has a given index. This index value in input will be relative to a spcified node whose id value is known. The criteria to select the text node is, The text node content should contain a index say 'i' relative to node say 'n' whose id value i know. 'i' and 'id of n' is got as index and nodeName from the input param as seen in the xsl. Node 'd1e5' has the text content whose index ranges from 1 to 33. If the user is trying to delete a product that is not in the database they get a error message. Upon successful adding/deleting they also get a message. • Parse filename, insert to SQL

  Thanks to Code Poet, I am now working off of this code to parse all .txt files in a directory and store them in a database. I need a bit more help though... The file names are R303717COMP_148A2075_20100520.txt (the middle section is unique per file). I would like to add something to code so that it can parse out the R303717COMP and put that in the left column of the database such as: (this is not the only R number we have) R303717COMP data data data R303717COMP data data data R303717COMP data data data etc Lastly, I would like to have it store each full file name into another table that gets checked so that it doesn't get processed twice..
