• Loading WPF satellite resources dynamically

  Hello! I've read about satellite-assemblies being used in WPF localizations. However, I would like to ask if there is a way to load the satellite-assemblies without following the pre-defined directory structure that depends on the language (ex. If the system language is English, the WPF application looks for the satellite-assembly inside the "en-US" subfolder). This is because I would like to simply swap the satellite-assemblies when distributing the software package without having to create a specific folder per language that would hold the assemblies. I would just like to have the satellite-assembly and the main executable in the same directory. Is this possible and is there even an easy way to do this like simply loading the resource file on application startup once? Thanks!

  I am loading Magento blocks outside of Magento for certain parts of my site. I can do this successfully with something similar the following. require_once $docRoot.'/app/Mage.php'; umask(0); Mage::app('default'); ... $layout = Mage::getSingleton('core/layout'); $block = $layout->createBlock('Mage_Page_Block_Html_Header'); $block->setTemplate('page/html/header.phtml'); echo $block->renderView(); The problem is that if the block I am rending has child blocks(html) they are not included in the output. In the example above the file header.phtml contains the following call for child html that is missing from the output. ... <?php echo $this->getChildHtml('topLinks') ?> ...

• Repository pattern with lazying loading using POCO

  Hi, I'm in the process of starting a new project and creating the business objects and data access etc. I'm just using plain old clr objects rather than any orms. I've created two class libraries: 1) Business Objects - holds all my business objects, all this objects are light weight with only properties and business rules. 2) Repository - this is for all my data access. The majority of my objects will have child list in and my question is what is the best way to lazy load these values as I don't want to bring back unnecessary information if I dont need to. I've thought about when using the "get" on the child property to check if its "null" and if it is call my repository to get the child information. This has two problems from what I can see: 1) The object "knows" how to get itself I would rather no data access logic be held in the object. 2) This required both classes to reference each other which in visual studio throws a circular dependency error. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to overcome this issue or any recommendations on my projects layout and where it can be improved? Thanks

• TTPhotoViewController: Images not loading until swipe

  Hi, I am trying to implement TTPhotoViewController in a sample iPad application. I have implemented properly TTPhotoSource and TTPhoto protocols. The TTPhotoViewController does show image, but not until swiped. The right and left button in the tab bar below doesnt seem to work at all, they never change the image displayed. The UIActivityIndicatorView is never put up, nor the right and left buttons are validated when last or first images are reached. I am initializing the subclass of TTPhotoViewController as a rootViewController of a UINavigationController object which I am adding it onto a view. • Loading a Workflow 4 from xaml file and adding it to workflowdesigner

  Hi I have created a couple of activities and stored them as XAML. Opening them in the Workflowdesigner works great and I can Execute them. Now I would like to create a new Activity and add the activities I created to it. Basically loading it from the XAML and into the designer as part of another activity/flow. I have tried adding my activities to the toolbox but the render as dynamicactivity and (understandably) does not work. Any suggestions? Is it even possible? /Jimmy

• iPad/iPhone HTML5 video loading

  I'm trying to load on the fly on the iPad/iPhone and notice that I cannot place a div above this. I put the overlay in the html so that it's generated on page load and not added via javascript and the video when its created is absolutely positioned below this element. This works on a PC, I'm wondering if since it was created via js that the iPhone OS is overriding the z-index and forcing to the top? Also is there a way to override the default "cannot play icon", the one with the slash, and show a loading animation instead? This would solve my issue via another route. My last option would be to loaded all the video tags via js on page load and have them layered on top of each other for the iPad/iPhone? Since the iPhone OS won't load any video until requested would this work? I also am having an issue with the iPhone and showing the "poster" attribute that is set on the video tag.

• rails is loading from routes instead of the public folder

  I have a rails app. I have a file in #{RAILS_ROOT}/public/swfs/somthing.swf. Locally, when running with webrick, when I go to the url localhost:3000/swfs/something.swf, my swf loads just fine. My routes.rb file looks like the following ActionController::Routing::Routes.draw do |map| map.connect ':controller/:action/:id' map.connect ':controller/:action/:id.:format' end Then, I started running the app with apache. When I visit myurl.com/swfs/something.swf, I get the following error message: Routing Error No route matches "/swfs/something.swf" with {:method=>:get} It looks like, for some reason, it is loading using the rails routes, instead of going to the public folder first. Any suggestions?

• Need advice on speeding up tableViewCell photo loading performance

  I have around 20 tableview cells that each contain a number (2-5) thumbnail sized pictures (they are VERY small Facebook profile pictures, ex. http://profile.ak.fbcdn.net/hprofile-ak-sf2p/hs254.snc3/23133_201668_2989_q.jpg). Each picture is an UIImageView added to the cell's contentview. Scrolling performance is poor, and measuring the draw time I've found the UIImage rendering is the bottleneck. I've researched/thought of some solutions but as I am new to iphone development I am not sure which strategy to pursue: preload all the images and retrieve them from disk instead of URL when drawing cells (I'm not sure if cell drawing will still be slow, so I want to hold off on the time investment here) Have the cells display a placeholder image from disk, while the picture is asynchronously loaded (this seems to be the best solution, but I'm currently not sure exactly how to do best do this) There's the fast drawing recommendation from Tweetie, but I don't know that will have much affect if it turns out my overhead is in network loading (http://blog.atebits.com/2008/12/fast-scrolling-in-tweetie-with-uitableview/) Thoughts/implementation advice? • Loading fixtures in django unit tests

  I'm trying to start writing unit tests for django and I'm having some questions about fixtures: I made a fixture of my whole project db (not certain application) and I want to load it for each test, because it looks like loading only the fixture for certain app won't be enough. I'd like to have the fixture stored in /proj_folder/fixtures/proj_fixture.json. I've set the FIXTURE_DIRS = ('/fixtures/',) in my settings.py. Then in my testcase I'm trying fixtures = ['proj_fixture.json'] but my fixtures don't load. How can this be solved? How to add the place for searching fixtures? In general, is it ok to load the fixture for the whole test_db for each test in each app (if it's quite small)? Thanks!

• Loading Images with Real Screen Resolution (Flash AS3)

  I am loading JPEGs into a Flash presentation using load with a flash.display.Loader and it's working great. The JPEGs are sizing to their native resolution (which is perfect). However, if I maximize the Flash presentation (in the Flash Player), the JPGs do NOT take advantage of the bigger screen. For example, the presentation is 1024x768, and the image is 1280x400. Normally the image shows with a part offscreen in the Flash presentation. However, if I expand the Flash presentation to 1680x1200, the freshly loaded image still goes offscreen. Is there any way to load the jpg (or png, or whatever) to take advantage of the displayed resolution of the Flash presentation? Edit: I realize this question is hard to read, so any help would be appreciated.

  I'm building a mobile version for my website using Jquery Mobile API. The framework provides automate AJAX navigation processing. But as far as i know it require "real" pages for loading purpose. What i want to do is override the automate navigation process of it and process the hashchange on my own. But i can't not rewrite the url using window.hashChange, which is running well on my non-mobile website version : $(function () { $(window).off().hashchange(function () { if (location.hash.length > 1) { PageSelect(); } }); $(window).hashchange(); }); I just only want to take advantage on jquery mobile interfaces, i don't want anything with its automate ajax navigation stuff ! • Execute a function when a <link> element has finished loading

  I'm using jQuery Masonry to lay out my page, but I'm using a custom @font-face font. The problem being that Masonry doesn't know the metrics of the font until it's loaded. The Masonry docs suggest that you use $(window).load() instead of $(document).ready() to call the layout functions, but I don't want to have to wait until all the images etc. load. I can specify the dimensions of the images exactly, so Masonry doesn't need to wait until they're loaded. It's just the text that's the problem. How can I get jQuery to call a callback when the <link> element that links in the font finishes loading?

  Hi Team, Can you offer a bit of advice. I am using a hosted SAAS CMS solution that enables you to create basing apps with a web apps system. I have created a form for members to submit a bunch of images and content to their own area. Everything is working great except if the images being submitted via the form are large, it takes ages for the form to submit and go to the thank you page. I am already using jQuery UI to split the form in to 5 steps and using the jQuery facebox plugin for instructional popups. My question is, what would be the best way to display a loading gif (in facebox or in another suggested overlay) while the form is being submitted? Thanks for your help! Jack

  I have a problem with modifying xml file when i first load and then save it with same file path and name. Below is my code. The error is "Access to the path C:\MyApp\Web.config is denied. If i change the path of the xdoc.Save to be different from xdoc.Load, then it will be ok. What is your recommandation to solve this problem? If possible, i need to modify the existing xml file(meaning xml file for loading and saving is the same path). • Issues with dynamically loading modules in code with Silverlight/Prism

  In my Bootstrapper.cs in GetModuleCatalog, I need to specify the Module types using the typeof(ModuleType). In the example below I'm trying to load the Contact module on demand, but in order to get it into my module catalog, I need to have a reference to it in the project that holds my Bootstrapper. When I add a reference to Contact, then the Contact.dll gets added to the initial xap file, which defeats the purpose of loading the module dynamically. Am I missing something? Do you have to load the module catalog from a file to make this work? var catalog = new ModuleCatalog(); catalog.AddModule(typeof(Core)); catalog.AddModule(typeof(Contact), InitializationMode.OnDemand);

  Hello everybody. I am trying to load the contents of a rtf file in the uiwebview. I am successful in loading the contents, but it is unformatted. the fonts are too large and it doesnt have any format. it displays the color of the rtf content, but not the font or size. So what should i do now. is there anyother way to load the rtf and format it???? • Flex TileList control, image loading issue

  I have a flex 3 TileList in wich a load several image (employee's headshot pictures). The image I'm loading in the TileList are stored in a DataBase (I use the ByteArray class and a Base 64 encoding to store the images in the DB). When I load the images in the TileList from the DB, there is no problem they are displayed correctly, but when I scroll down in the TileList and scroll up again, the position of the images is changing, so for example the image in first position can be now in the 3rd and so on .... • Android OutOfMemoryError - Loading JSON File

  The app I am working on needs to read a JSON file that may be anywhere from 1.5 to 3 MB in size. It seems to have no problem opening the file and converting the data to a string, but when it attempts to convert the string to a JSONArray, OutOfMemoryErrors are thrown. The exceptions look something like this: E/dalvikvm-heap( 5307): Out of memory on a 280-byte allocation. W/dalvikvm( 5307): Exception thrown (Ljava/lang/OutOfMemoryError;) while throwing internal exception (Ljava/lang/OutOfMemoryError;) One strange thing about this is that the crash only occurs every 2nd or 3rd time the app is run, leaving me to believe that the memory consumed by the app is not being garbage collected each time the app closes. Any insight into how I might get around this issue would be greatly appreciated. I am open to the idea of loading the file in chunks, but I'm not quite sure what the best approach is for such a task.   I installed VS 2010 RC yesterday, and suddenly, SQL Server CE isn't loading files from a network share. In projects compiled with VS 2008, if I try to open a SQL CE file located on a network share, I get an error that reads like this: Internal error: Cannot open the shared memory region. If I try to create a data connection in VS 2010 to a SQL CE file on a network share, I get this error: SQL Server Compact does not support opening database files on a network share. Can anyone shed any light on what's going on? Thanks.

• Problems with contenttypes when loading a fixture in Django

  I am having trouble loading Django fixtures into my MySQL database because of contenttypes conflicts. First I tried dumping the data from only my app like this: ./manage.py dumpdata escola > fixture.json but I kept getting missing foreign key problems, because my app "escola" uses tables from other applications. I kept adding additional apps until I got to this: ./manage.py dumpdata contenttypes auth escola > fixture.json Now the problem is the following constraint violation when I try to load the data as a test fixture: IntegrityError: (1062, "Duplicate entry 'escola-t23aluno' for key 2") It seems the problem is that Django is trying to dynamically recreate contenttypes with different primary key values that conflict with the primary key values from the fixture. This appears to be the same as bug documented here: http://code.djangoproject.com/ticket/7052 The problem is that the recommended workaround is to dump the contenttypes app which I'm already doing!? What gives? If it makes any difference I do have some custom model permissions as documented here: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/models/options/#permissions

  The reason I want to load modules dynamically is to avoid circular dependency issue. I have following layers View -- ViewModel -- DataProvider -- ServiceClient (wcf proxies). Now I want a static IoC container that can be shared across these layers. I want to make my View testable and to do that I’ll have to inject the various dependencies in various layers and mock out those dependencies as well. Now issue I am facing is where to declare and load ninject modules. i also realised in Silverlight version of Ninject there is no version of Load which take string arugment, which can be used to load the modules dynamically Load("*.dll"). How can I achieve dynamic loading in Silverlight Thanks
