  I must be missing something. Help! My manifest contains: <manifest ...> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="4" android:targetSdkVersion="7" android:maxSdkVersion="10" /> <application ... I have all API packages installed (through 7 - Android 2.1). Whenever I try to run or debug my app in the emulator, reglardless of which version I start, I get the message in the subject line and I have to click on Cancel in order to continue. After that, the device chooser appears: and I can select a device and the app starts up fine in the Emulator. What do the red Xs mean next to the target? When my Nexus One is cradled, I do not get the warning that there is no compatible device. I can live with the extra click, but I am concerned that my up does not properly register the target API level and that this will cause problems once uploaded to the market.

  In my project I have very big XSD file which i use to validate some XML request and response to a 3rd party. For the above scenario I can have 2 approaches 1) Create XML and then validate against give XSD 2) Create classes from XSD with the help of XSD gen tool, add xtra bit of attirbutes and use them for validation. Validation in the second way will work somewhat in this manner, a) convert xml request/response into object with XML Serialization b) validate the object with custom attributes set on each property, i.e. Pass the object to a method which will validate the object by iterating through properties and its custom attributes set on the each property, and this will return a boolean value if the object validates and that determines whether the xml request is valid or not? Now the concern which approach is good in terms of performance and anything else???

• CakePHP: 2-level JOIN with one Query

  I have the following models in CakePHP: A Deposit belongs to an Account An Account belongs to a Customer I want to have a list of Deposits, and I need to show the name of the customer (so I have to join through the Customer). I also need to paginate this list. If I set Deposit->recursive = 2, I can get the Customer, however, CakePHP runs one query joining Deposit and Account, and then runs one query per each Deposit, to get the Customer. How can I make it get both models with only one query? I tried this, but it didn't work: $this->paginate = array('joins' => array( array( 'table' => 'customers', 'alias' => 'AccountCustomer', 'type' => 'inner', 'foreignKey' => false, 'conditions' => array('Account.customer_id = AccountCustomer.id') ) )); Any ideas? • Security Level for WebBrowser control in C#

  I am trying to migrate an .hta application to a C# executable. Of course, since it's an .hta the code is all HTML and Jscript, with calls to local ActiveX objects. I created a C# executable project and am just using the WebBrowser control to display the HTML content. Simply renamed the .hta to an .html and took out the HTA declarations. Everything works great, except that when I make calls to the ActiveX objects, I get a security popup warning of running an ActiveX control on the page. I understand why this is happening since the WebBrowser control is essentially IE and uses the Internet Options security settings, but is there any way to get the WebBrowser control to bypass security popups, or a way to register the executable or DLLs as being trusted without having to change settings in Internet Options? Even a way to do on a deployment package would work as well.

• Entity Framework won't SaveChanges on new entity with two-level relationship

  I'm building an ASP.NET MVC site using the ADO.NET Entity Framework. I have an entity model that includes these entities, associated by foreign keys: Report(ID, Date, Heading, Report_Type_ID, etc.) SubReport(ID, ReportText, etc.) - one-to-one relationship with Report. ReportSource(ID, Name, Description) - one-to-many relationship with Sub_Report. ReportSourceType(ID, Name, Description) - one-to-many relationship with ReportSource. Contact (ID, Name, Address, etc.) - one-to-one relationship with Report_Source. There is a Create.aspx page for each type of SubReport. The post event method returns a new Sub_Report entity. Before, in my post method, I followed this process: Set the properties for a new Report entity from the page's fields. Set the SubReport entity's specific properties from the page's fields. Set the SubReport entity's Report to the new Report entity created in 1. Given an ID provided by the page, look up the ReportSource and set the Sub_Report entity's ReportSource to the found entity. SaveChanges. This workflow succeeded just fine for a couple of weeks. Then last week something changed and it doesn't work any more. Now instead of the save operation, I get this Exception: UpdateException: "Entities in 'DIR2_5Entities.ReportSourceSet' participate in the 'FK_ReportSources_ReportSourceTypes' relationship. 0 related 'ReportSourceTypes' were found. 1 'Report_Source_Types' is expected." The debug visualizer shows the following: The SubReport's ReportSource is set and loaded, and all of its properties are correct. The Report_Source has a valid ReportSourceType entity attached. In SQL Profiler the prepared SQL statement looks OK. Can anybody point me to what obvious thing I'm missing? TIA Notes: The Report and SubReport are always new entities in this case. The Report entity contains properties common to many types of reports and is used for generic queries. SubReports are specific reports with extra parameters varying by type. There is actually a different entity set for each type of SubReport, but this question applies to all of them, so I use SubReport as a simplified example.

• Is there a way to get programmatic access to the columns of a ActiveReports detail section?

  Hello, I have a report in Data Dynamics ActiveReports for .NET. In this report I am programmatically setting the ColumnCount property of the detail section to X. The detail section has one databound textbox. The ColumnDirection property of the detail section is set to AcrossDown and the and then the data binding mechanism automatically fills across with data after setting the DataSource and DataMember. Here is the code... Public Sub RunReport Dim count As Integer = 0 ' ... get count Detail1.ColumnCount = count Me.DataSource = ds Me.DataMember = ds.Tables(0).TableName End Sub That code works fine and the data is automatically filled across the report. Now I need to alter the report and circle or highlight one of the items that is auto-filled across columns in the report. I cannot find any way to programmatically access the auto-generated columns so I can turn on a border or draw a circle or something. Any ideas how I would do that? Seth

• Scaling MKMapView Annotations relative to the zoom level

  The Problem I'm trying to create a visual radius circle around a annonation, that remains at a fixed size in real terms. Eg. So If i set the radius to 100m, as you zoom out of the Map view the radius circle gets progressively smaller. I've been able to achieve the scaling, however the radius rect/circle seems to "Jitter" away from the Pin Placemark as the user manipulates the view. The Manifestation Here is a video of the behaviour. • perl: tk: a way/widget that allows pixel level control over the output

  I want something like a canvas, but where i'd be able to manipulate pixels easily in addition to all the provided geometries, that can be drawn on canvas. Is it possible to embed something like GD::Image into a canvas? So then I maybe could make the image transparent and set some pixels in it (GD::Image-setPixel()) positioning it over the canvas? ps: well, that doesn't necessarily have to be perl, as there seem to be bindings for all the libs for most scripting (and not only) languages.

• Virtual Earth (Bing) Pin "moves" when zoom level changes

  Hi guys, Created a Virtual Earth (Bing) map to show a simple pin at a particular point. Everything works right now - the pin shows up, the title and description pop up on hover. The map is initially fully zoomed into the pin, but the STRANGE problem is that when I zoom out it moves slightly lower on the map. So if I started with the pin pointing somewhere in Toronto, if I zoom out enough the pin ends up i the middle of Lake Ontario! If I pan the map, the pin correctly stays in its proper location. When I zoom back in, it moves slightly up until it's back to its original correct position! I've looked around for a solution for a while, but I can't understand it at all. Please help!! • How to learn high-level Java web development concepts

  I have some experience writing web applications in Java for class projects. My first project used Servlets and my second, the Stripes framework. However, I feel that I am missing the greater picture of Java web development. I don't really understand the web.xml and context.xml files. I'm not sure what constitutes a Java EE application as opposed to a generic Java web application. I can't figure out how a bean is different from an ordinary Java class (POJO?) and how that differs from an Enterprise Java Bean (EJB). These are just the first few questions I could think of, but there are many more. What is a good way to learn how Java web applications function from the top down rather than simply how to develop an application with a specific framework? (Is there a book for this sort of thing?) Ultimately, I would like to understand Java web applications well enough to write my own framework.

  I have a website and I just setup an os shopping cart (ie., Magento) I installed the cart in a sub-directory off the document root as /magento/ per the installation guidelines. So my web site cart's URL is http://mydomain.com/magento/ I have no public pages off the document root and I actually want my cart to be my home page -- in other words, I want http://mydomain.com/magento/ to resolve as http://mydomain.com/ Is it possible? Can I use mod-rewrite to make it happen? If so, can you suggest what the mod-rewrite directives would look like? Or is it simply a permanent redirect like: redirect 301 /magento http://mydomain.com/ Thanks.

  I have created a .pes file using PhysicsEditor and imported as xml and have added to my project. When I parsed it and created bodies, it is showing strange behavior. • XML deserialization doesn't read in second level

  Sorry if the title doesn't make much sense, but I'm not too familiar with the terminology. My question is: I have a config.xml file for a program I'm working on. I created an xsd file by 'xsd.exe config.xml'. I then took this xsd and added it to the solution in visual studio. My last step used a program called xsd2code that turned that xsd file into a class I can serialize too. The problem is it doesn't read more then a layer deep in the xml tree. By this I mean the elements in the root node get deserialized into my object, but those that are in a node inside the root node are not. I found this out by putting a breakpoint after the deserialization and looking at my object. Any Ideas? Let me know if this needs some clarification or you need a snippet of something.

  I'm trying to find a list of TLD's to their corresponding whois server, for example .com americanWhoisServer .net someOtherWhoisServer .au australianWhoisServer In the end i'm aiming for something like a Dictionary where the key is the TLD and the value is the whois server address (eg whois.apnic.net). Ah snap, i just realised that i am given the IP addresses and not domain names but a list could still come in handy. How can i determine which whois server to use given a IP address? Guess and check?

• How should I load a xib into a detail view for a split view iPad objective app?

  I've got a split view iPad app with table view in the master pane. After drilling down several levels, each time loading a new .xib, I'd like one of the cells to trigger a web page load in the detail pane. Right now I can only get the web page .xib to load in the master pane side -- which is a master pain in my side. The basic load call where "URLWindow" is a class loaded with initWithNibName: [[self navigationController] pushViewController:URLWindow animated:YES]; I want to do this, but it doesn't seem to work: @interface @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet DetailViewController *detailViewController; ... @implementation [[self detailViewController] pushViewController:URLWindow animated:YES]; How should I be loading the URLWindow .xib into a detail view for a split view detail pane?

• ClearCase: Versioning at file level

  Hi, I have a perculier problem about how to maintain a clearcase project. This project is a xml schema repository where each schema has a version. This repository is common and is used by all the apps in the enterprise. From clearcase prespective the project has a single component. Now the apps can be using different versions of the schema(s). So we are trying to figureout a way to setup the project in such way that a project can have a baseline of what versions of these files are included in a build. The only way we know of how to do this is to create a component for each schema or group of schemas and create a stream for each app to include the components they use. But that would result in too many components. Has anyone dealth with something like this before? We are prepared to restructre the whole project if necessary, so we are open to any idea. • Android application transparency and window sizing at root level

  Is it possible to create an application with a transparent background on the root task such that you can see the task running beneath it when it is part of a separate stack? Alternatively, is it possible to run an application so the window of the root task is only a portion of the screen instead of the whole screen? I understand how the transparency and window sizing is done with activities that are not the root task and this works fine. However, the root task of an activity seems to always fill the whole screen and be black even when a transparent theme is applied to the application object in the manifest file. • Level of SVG SMIL (animation) support among the browsers

  Hi, Does anyone know the current state of SVG SMIL animation support in the popular browsers? It looks like Safari, Chrome, and Opera support it. Firefox has confusing reports in their dev pages about SMIL support having been added, but I don't see it as of v3.6: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=216462 I am ignoring IE since they don't even support SVG at all, and probably never will, much less SMIL. The other thing - just comparing this test page between Safari, Chrome, and Opera: http://srufaculty.sru.edu/david.dailey/svg/ovaling.svg looks like Opera is the only one that renders it correctly. Should we not be using SMIL - kind of looks half-baked in all the browsers (sadly)? Blast. Thanks
