• Suppress "No Source Available" pane in 2010

  Arg! I have a custom "harness" executable running my class library project. Every time I step into the harness's code, I get that "No Source Available" pane popping up. As I know there is no source available, and that this is completely expected, I don't want this very intrusive and useless pane popping up every time. How can I suppress it completely? I can make it smaller at least by making that window part of another smaller pane-set, such as with the watches/locals. It remembers its location from run to run, but its still useless. There might be a more general answer to this question - how can I suppress any particular pane/window from showing at all? I have a VSX package, originally built for VS 2008 (and must keep that compatibility) but I just don't know what command to run to do it. (I had the package commissioned, so I have the source, but not the know-how. This seems like a one/two liner). Thanks!

  Is it possible to create a web service operation using primitive or basic Java types when using the Jaxb2Marschaller in spring-ws? What can I do to configure either spring-ws to be able to use the first kind of implementation or to tell maven jaxws plugin to generate the second variant of the interface? • Guice and JSF 2

  I'm trying to use Guice to inject properties of a JSF managed bean. This is all running on Google App Engine (which may or may not be important) I've followed the instructions here: http://code.google.com/docreader/#p=google-guice&s=google-guice&t=GoogleAppEngine One problem is in the first step. I can't subclass the Servlet module and setup my servlet mappings there because Faces is handled by the javax.faces.webapp.FacesServlet which subclasses Servlet, not HttpServlet. So, I tried leaving my servlet configuration in the web.xml file and simply instantiating a new ServletModel() along with my business module when creating the injector in the context listener described in the second step. Having done all that, along with the web.xml configuration, my managed bean isn't getting any properties injected. The method is as follows @ManagedBean @ViewScoped public class ViewTables implements Serializable { private DataService<Table> service; @Inject public void setService( DataService<Table> service ) { this.service = service; } public List<Table> getTables() { return service.getAll(); } } So, I'm wondering if there is a trick to get Guice injecting into a JSF managed bean? I obviously can't use the constructor injection because JSF needs a no-arg constructor to create the bean.

• JSON and jQuery.ajax

  Hello, im trying to use the jQuery UI autocomplete to communitate with a webservice with responseformate JSON, but i am unable to do so. My webservice is not even executed, the path should be correct since the error message does not complain about this. What strikes me is the headers, response is soap but request is json, is it supposed to be like this? • cpptask ordering of static libraries in gcc command line

  How do I force cpptask to move the static libraries to the end on arg list issued to the compiler? Here is the clause I am using <cpptasks:cc description="appname" subsystem="console" objdir="obj" outfile="dist/app_test"> <compiler refid="testsslcc" /> <linkerarg value="-L${libdir}" /> <linkerarg value="-L/usr/local/devl/lib" /> <linkerarg value="-Wl,-rpath,../lib" /> <libset libs="unittest ${libs} dsg readline ncurses gcov" /> <fileset dir="test/obj" includes="main.o" /> <fileset dir="." includes="${TCFILES}" /> <fileset dir="../lib" includes="libboost_thread.a libboost_date_time.a" /> </cpptasks:cc> when this executes, libboost_thread.a libboost_date_time.a are first files in the argument list passed the compiler, gcc -ggdb -Wl,-export-dynamic -Wshadow -Wno-format-y2k ../../lib/libboost_date_time.a ../../lib/libboost_thread.a x.cpp ... which causes compiler error. By manually moving them to the end of the argument list, the application compiles without error. gcc -ggdb -Wl,-export-dynamic -Wshadow -Wno-format-y2k x.cpp ... ../../lib/libboost_date_time.a ../../lib/libboost_thread.a And yes I have tried changing the order in the xml, and that of course didn't work. For now I am using an exec task to call gcc with the files in the correct order but this of course is a hack.

• sscanf wrapping function to advance string pointer in C

  I have a function that makes a series of calls to sscanf() and then, after each, updates the string pointer to point to the first character not consumed by sscanf() like so: if(sscanf(str, "%d%n", &fooInt, &length) != 1) { // error handling } str+=length; In order to clean it up and avoid duplicating this several times over, i'd like to encapsulate this into a nice utility function that looks something like the following: int newSscanf ( char ** str, const char * format, ...) { int rv; int length; char buf[MAX_LENGTH]; va_list args; strcpy(buf, format); strcat(buf, "%n"); va_start(args, format); rv = vsscanf(*str, buf, args, &length); va_end(args); *str += length; return rv; } Then I could simply the calls as below to remove the additional parameter/bookkeeping: if(newSscanf(&str, "%d", &fooInt) != 1) { // error handling } Unfortunately, I can't find a way to append the &length parameter onto the end of the arg list directly or otherwise inside newSscanf(). Is there some way to work around this, or am I just as well off handling the bookkeeping by hand at each call?

• How does the recursion here work?

  code 1: public static int fibonacci (int n){ if (n == 0 || n == 1) { return 1; } else { return fibonacci (n-1) + fibonacci (n-2); } } how can you use fibonacci if you haven't gotten done explaining what it is yet? I've been able to understand using recursion in other cases like this: code two: class two { public static void two (int n) { if (n>0) { System.out.println (n) ; two (n-1) ; } else { return ; } } public static void main (String[] arg) { two (12) ; } } In the case of code 2 though n will eventualy reach a point at which it doesnt satisfy n0 and the method will stop calling itself recursivly. in the case of code 2 though i don't see how it would be able to get itself from 1 if n=1 was the starting point to 2 and 3 and 5 and so on. Also i don't see how the line `return fibonacci (n-1) + fibonacci (n-2) would work since fibbonacci n-2 has to contain in some sense fibonacci n-1 in order to wrok but it isn't there yet. I know my question is worded poorly but looking at this is making my mind explode. the book i'm looking at says it will work. how does it work? `

• Flex, Ant, mxmlc and conditional compilation

  My ActionScript project builds with several compile-time specified constants. They are all Booleans, and only one of them is true at any given time. The rest must be false. When I represented my build process in a bash script, I could loop through the names of all these constants, set one of them to be true and the rest to be false, then concatenate them onto a string to be inserted as a set of arguments passed to mxmlc. In Ant, looping is more complicated. I've tried the ant-contrib for tag: <mxmlc file='blah' output='blah'> <!- ... -> <for list='${commaSeparatedListOfConstNames}' param='constName'> <sequential> <define> <name>${constName}</name> <value>${constName} == ${theTrueConst}</value> <!-- (mxmlc's define arguments can be strings that are evaluated at compile time) --> </define> </sequential> </for> </mxmlc> Long story short, ant-contrib tags like the for tag can't go in the mxmlc task. • multi thread apps crashes in release mode

  Hello, I'm using Visual Studio 2008 (programming in c). I've a weird problem I worte a program that has 2 threads that runs simultaneously, a recording thread (using audio card to record into memory) and a translation thread (using a speech engine to recognize the words). when I run my program in debug mode (aka setting a breakpoint in the code) it runs great, however when I run in debug mode or release mode (outside the visual studio enviroment) it crashes and give me the following exception: "Unhandled exception at 0x7c911129 in LowLevel.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x014c7245." • Is it possible to handle User Defined Exception using JAX WS Dispatch API ?

  Hello, I'm performing dynamic webservices call using following code snippet: JAXBContext jc = getJAXBContext(requestClass, responseClass, jaxbContextExtraClasses); Dispatch<Object> dispatch = service.createDispatch(portQName, jc, Service.Mode.PAYLOAD); Object requestValue = getRequestValue(requestClass, pOrderedParameters); JAXBElement<?> request = new JAXBElement(new QName(serviceQNameStr, pOperationName), requestValue.getClass(), null, requestValue); Object tmpResponse = dispatch.invoke(request); Invocation works perfectly, except if I add a user defined exception on the service (a basic UserException extends java.lang.Exception). First I get: javax.xml.bind.UnmarshalException: unexpected element (uri:"http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/", local:"Fault"). Expected elements are <{http://my.namespace/}myMethod,<{http://my.namespace/}myResponse Then I added the UserException_Exception JAX-WS generated type to my JAXB Context, and then get: Caused by: com.sun.xml.bind.v2.runtime.IllegalAnnotationsException: 1 counts of IllegalAnnotationExceptions java.lang.StackTraceElement does not have a no-arg default constructor. this problem is related to the following location: at java.lang.StackTraceElement at public java.lang.StackTraceElement[] java.lang.Throwable.getStackTrace() at java.lang.Throwable at java.lang.Exception Only solution available I found are: dispatch directly a Soap message and handle Soap fault directly (this is the way Jboss JAX-WS implementation performs a standard JAX-WS call using services interfaces). This is not an available solution for me, I want to use a high level implementation (the more I get close to Soap message the less dynamic my code can be) usage of JAXBRIContext.ANNOTATION_READER, which is implementation specific and not an available solution for me, in order to annotate annotates java.lang.Exception as @XmlTransient The service with a user defined exception performs well using the JAX-WS generated standard client stubs and using a tool such Soap UI. Problem occurs in deserialization of the message when I have no user defined exception artifact in the JAXB context, and during invocation when I add those non JAXB compatible artifacts in the JAXB context. I'm usign Jboss WS webservice stack within Jboss 4.2.3.GA Any elegant solution to this problem is welcomed !

• Entity Framework lazy loading doesn't work from other thread

  Hi, I just found out that lazy loading in Entity Framework only works from the thread that created the ObjectContext. To illustrate the problem, I did a simple test, with a simple model containing just 2 entities : Person and Address. But in TestMultiThread, I get a NullReferenceException on p2.Address.City, because p2.Address is null. It that a bug ? Is this the way it's supposed to work ? If so, is there any documentation mentioning it ? I couldn't find anything on the subject on MSDN or Google... And more importantly, is there a workaround ? (other than explicitly calling LoadProperty from the worker thread...) Any help would be very appreciated PS: I'm using VS2010, so it's EF 4.0. I don't know if it was the same in the previous version of EF...

• From VB6 to .net via COM and Remoting...What a mess!

  I have some legacy vb6 applications that need to talk to my .Net engine application. The engine provides an interface that can be connected to via .net Remoting. Now I have a stub class library that wraps all of the types that the interface exposes. The purpose of this stub is to translate my .net types into COM-friendly types. When I run this class library as a console application, it is able to connect to the engine, call various methods, and successfully return the wrapped types. The next step in the chain is to allow my VB6 application to call this COM enabled stub. This works fine for my main engine-entry type (IModelFetcher which is wrapped as COM_ModelFetcher).
