  • Motherboard jumper setting: BIOS flash write protection.

    I have an ECS P4M800PRO-M478 motherboard and I'm just setting up the jumpers right now, of which there are only two sets. One is the CLR_CMOS jumper, which is set to Normal, of course. However, there is another set called BIOS_WP which controls whether BIOS flash writing is protected or unprotected. Which setting should I have it set at and would this affect any BIOS flashes in the future?

    The Windows 7 Aero interface looks great, but after looking at it for months it gets boring. So I was wondering - is it possible to create advanced skins for Windows 7 that use full Aero capabilities but are redesigned from ground up, including common controls, animations, effects, etc? Windows XP allowed that, although only with a patched uxtheme.dll. Or do you have to implement a custom shell for that?

  • BES IT Policy: Radio disabled after device startup?

    Can anyone tell me which BES IT policy option controls the radio being disabled when the device first starts up. I have been given an IT policy which when applied to a user causes the radio on the device to be off by default when it starts up, requiring the user to activate it every time (after entering his password). When the default policy is applied this does not happen, so it is an option in the IT policy that has caused it. Does anyone know which of the options this is?

  • How do I keep gnome-terminal width from changing when I use "reset"

    When I use reset in gnome-terminal (bash, Ubuntu 9.04), the window width resets, though the height does not. On my personal computer, this does not happen in xterm or konsole. On my work computer (RHEL 5 or maybe 4), this does not happen in any terminals, including gnome-terminal. I assume there is some environment variable that controls this, but my .bashrc at work is hundreds of lines long, so I'm not sure where to look in there.

  • How do I disable a laptop's build-in keyboard on ubuntu?

    I have a Kinesis keyboard that I ideally like to use by placing it on top of my laptop. When I do that, I wind up pressing keys on the built-in keyboard with my external keyboard. I've been playing around with the GUI keyboard controls and reading the ubuntu forums for a couple hours without really any forward progress. Even a hacky solution or a pointer to a good library for configuring multiple keyboards differently would be much appreciated. thanks.

    Is it possible to prevent or disable autorun/autoplay/device-stage by modifying regedit? Because of some constraints, I cannot disable by Control Panel options. I found some related questions here, for example, and some solutions provided by Microsoft, mainly involving this key on regedit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutorun But none of these solutions worked, neither after rebooting. Is there any other key or value that controls this kind of property?

    I have a Lenovo 3000 N200 notebook with integrated GMA 965 VGA, using Windows 7. All my drivers are up to date, downloaded directly from the vendor site, installed with administrative privileges, etc. Yet, all OpenGL applications cannot render the interface (or any visuals). Examples are Blender (3D modeling software) and Babo Violent (top-down FPS). All the controls, sound effects and music are live, but the screen is black or light gray, respectively. What can one do?

    Hi, I have a user control which encapsulates a NumericUpDownExtender. This UserControl implements the interface ICallbackEventHandler, because I want that when a user changes the value of the textbox associated a custom event to be raised in the server. By the other hand each time an async postback is done I shoe a message of loading and disable the whole screen. When the custom event is raised I want another textbox in the aspx to change its value. So far, When I click on the UpDownExtender, it goes correctly to the server and raises the custom event, and the new value of the textbox is assigned in the server. but it is not changed in the browser. I suspect that the problem is the callback, since I have the same architecture for a UserControl with an AutoCompleteExtender which implement IPostbackEventHandler and it works. Any clues how can I solve this here to make the UpDownNumericExtender user control to work like the AutComplete one? Validation should be done most time on model side with DataAnnotations with custom attributes( like CompareTo, StringLenght, MinPasswordLenght (from Membership.MinimumumpassworkdLenght value). For that purpose I tried to use xval with jquery.validation. Some specific thing is that most of forms will be working with ajax and most problems are when I want to validate form with ajax. Is there any solution for this ? Custom attributes validation Next thing custom attributes validation ( All those error are when I use Ajax for on normal form validation is working without problem. ): CompareTo - Simple compare to that is done in mvc template for account model ( class attribute saying with two property will be compared ) , and it wasn’t show on page. To do it I created own CachingRulesProvider with compareRule and my Attribute. Maybe there is more easy way to do it? StringLenght with minimum and maximum value, I won’t describe how I done it but is there any easy whey to do it? Validation summary When I have two two control on page all summary validation information goes to first control validation summary element, even xval generated script say that elementID are different for summary.
