  In javascript you can call a function as a function or as a constructor. For example you can do : myObject = new Number(13); myPrimitiveValue = Number(13); or simply myPrimitiveValue = 13; I understand the difference between the results. Can you explain me under which reasonable circumstances creating a number, a boolean or a string as an object is desirable? For example, ability to set new properties (this is something you can do on objects but can't really do on primitive values) is almost always a bad idea for objects containing number/boolean/string. Why would I want a numeric/boolean/string object?

• Updating Versioned .NET Assembly References

  I have a C++/CLI project that needs to reference a .NET assembly. I've done so by going into the project properties and clicking "Add New Reference", and browsing to the assembly location (it's not part of the solution, so I cannot create a project-to-project reference, and the .NET assembly is not in the GAC so it isn't in the .NET tab when viewing the references to add) When the .NET assembly is updated (that is, since it is versioned, it will increment its version number daily), the C++/CLI project fails to compile because it is still referencing the older version. The workaround I've been doing is deleting the .NET reference and adding it back in, but this is not feasible. How do I have it recognize the newer assembly?? Note: The older assembly is replaced with the newer one, so it is in the same location, but doesn't know that it should use the newer version.

  I want to post json object to my WCF service My only problem is his date property. I get the date from an jquery datepicker and i want to get it in my service as c# datetime. In onResume, I want to be able to change the properties of the ImageButton with something like: @Override protected void onResume() { super.onResume(); ib.setImageURI(selectedImageUri); } //END onResume But onResume doesn't have access to the ib ImageButton object. If this were a variable, I'd simple make it a class variable, but Android does not allow you to define View object in the class. Any suggestions on how to do this?

  Lets say that I have a database structure with three tables that look like this: items - item_id - item_handle attributes - attribute_id - attribute_name item_attributes - item_attribute_id - item_id - attribute_id - attribute_value I would like to be able to do this in SQLAlchemy: item = Item('item1') item.foo = 'bar' session.add(item) session.commit() item1 = session.query(Item).filter_by(handle='item1').one() print item1.foo # => 'bar' I'm new to SQLAlchemy and I found this in the documentation (http://www.sqlalchemy.org/docs/05/mappers.html#mapping-a-class-against-multiple-tables): j = join(items, item_attributes, items.c.item_id == item_attributes.c.item_id). \ join(attributes, item_attributes.c.attribute_id == attributes.c.attribute_id) mapper(Item, j, properties={ 'item_id': [items.c.item_id, item_attributes.c.item_id], 'attribute_id': [item_attributes.c.attribute_id, attributes.c.attribute_id], }) It only adds item_id and attribute_id to Item and its not possible to add attributes to Item object. Is what I'm trying to achieve possible with SQLAlchemy? Is there a better way to structure the database to get the same behaviour of "dynamic columns"?

  Hello, I would like to control how linq querries my database programaticaly. For instance, I'd like to query the column X, column Y, or column Z, depending on some conditions. First of all, I've created an array of all the properties inside my class called myPropertyInfo. Type MyType = (typeOf(MyClass)); PropertyInfo[] myPropertyInfo = myType.GetProperties( BindingFlags.Public|BindingFlags.Instance); The myPropertyInfo array allows me to access each property details (Name, propertyType, etc) through the index*[i]* Now, how can I use the above information to control how linq queries my DB? Here's a sample of a querry I'd like to exploit. var myVar = from tp in db.MyClass select tp.{expression}; Expression using myPropertyInfo[i] to choose which property(column) to query. I'm not sure if that's the way of doing it, but if there's another way to do so, I'll be glad to learn. Thanks for helping.

• Do you have to call .Save() when modifying a application setting that is bound to a control property

  I am programming in .NET I have an application setting of type string. On my form I have a textbox. I bound the text property of the textbox to my application setting. If I type something in the textbox it changes the value that is held in the Application setting but the next time I start the program it goes back to the default value. Do I need to call Properties.Settings.Default.Save(); after the text is entered for the new value to be saved? Shouldn't it do this automatically? Is there a way I can make it do it automatically?

• How can I get class, property, and method data from files without executing their code, similar to R

  I have a bunch of PHP files with classes, in them (although I can't be 100% sure that they won't have code outside of classes in them too), and I need to parse these files to get information about the classes, such as the names of the classes, the methods, the properties, whether they are private/public/static, etc. I looked at PHP's reflection classes and this is very close to what I want but the reflection doesn't seem to use external files and it appears to need to define the classes first. I need to make sure that none of the code is executed and I will be editing the files so I can't guarantee that they will even be error-free. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  I currently have a Javascript function that uses a string to reference an object name and acces its properties. I'm currently using eval() to get the the desired effect which I know is very, very wrong. Here is an example of how I'm currently achieving what I want: var stringToObjectRef = function() { var myTestVar = "myTestObject"; var myTestObject = { 'item1' : 100, 'item2' : 12, 'item4' : 18 }; var myValue = eval(myTestVar + '.item1'); alert(myValue); }(); I've tried using something like [myTestVar].item1, but this returns undefined.   Hi, It seems a straightforward thing but I'm not having much success. I'm just implementing a simple animation moving a div left or up using animate() but I would like to be able to set the "top" and "left" css properties dynamically. I would like to use the same function rather than have to have two, one for "left" and one for "top". • How can I write fast colored output to Console?

  Hello world! I want to learn if there is another (faster) way to output text to the console application window using C# .net than with the simple Write, BackgroundColor and ForegroundColor methods and properties? I learned that each cell has a background color and a foreground color, and I would like to cache/buffer/write faster than using the mentioned methods. Maybe there is some help using the Out buffer, but I don't know how to encode the colors into the stream, if that is where the color data resides. This is for a retrostyle textbased game I am wanting to implement where I make use of the standard colors and ascii characters for laying out the game. Please help :)

• Easiest way to keep SSRS child elements in the same relative position when the parent is re-positioned?

  I am trying to revise the layout of an SSRS report where I have several textboxes that are child elements of a rectangle. When I reposition the parent rectangle down by x, all of the child textboxes maintain the same absolute position. Their "Location" (defined relative to the parent) decreases by x. I then need to reposition the child textboxes. Additionally, if any of these ever has a negative "Location" then the parent rectangle is then repositioned back up by x. What is the easiest way to move everything in unison? I can Control-click everything and then drag them or use the arrow keys, but I want to position everything with precision and the "Location" field in the Properties window disappears when selecting more than one item. Is there a way I can avoid individually computing and typing in every "Location" value every time I have a small layout change? I am using SSRS (11.0.3360.12) within the Visual Studio 2012 Shell.   I'm trying to replace the navigation on our sharepoint site with a treeview. It's a large site with up to 4 subsite leves in places. All I need it to do is show a consistent structure from page to page show only sites and pages The default sharepoint treeview seems to do neither of these things (doesn't display items from the parent site, includes document libraries but not pages). Does anyone have any idea how to achieve this? We're using the publishing site template throughout if that makes a difference. I've tried binding the tree to the datasource the quick launch uses but I guess from the error message they expect differently named properties.

However, when I try this, it always returns 7500 which is the value in the BaseClass and not the value of privateVar. In other words, is it possible to inherit a BaseClass's public methods but have any references in them refer to the SubClass's properties? And how would I do that?

I cannot figure out how to access each of these properties individually. I read a similar post where the solution was to call "entity."   I need to calculate a whole bunch of averages on an List of Surveys. The surveys have lots of properties that are int and double valued. I am creating a business object to handle all the calculations (there are like 100) and I'd rather not code 100 different methods for finding the average for a particular property. I'd like to be able to have the UI pass a string (representing the property) and have the the business object return an average for that property. So, like... int AverageHeightInInches = MyObject.GetIntAverage("HeightInInches"); . . . Then have linq code to calculate the result. Thanks!

But, if d were a Fixnum, for example, only a would be assigned to the value of d while b and c would be assigned nil. What properties of d allow it to be used for multiple assignment? In my exploring so far, I've only been able to make instances of subclasses of Array behave in this way.

• Load custom class properly

  I have a custom class which I want to "load" inside the firstViewController and then access it from other classes by segues. My Problem is, I can't even access and change the instance variable inside the firstViewController. Somehow I'm "loading" it wrong. Here is the code I used until now: inside viewController.h @property (strong, nonatomic) myClass *newClass; inside viewController.m @synthesize newClass; I then try to access it by: self.newClass.string = @"myString"; if(newClass.string == @"myString"){ NSLog(@"didn't work"); } Well, I get "didn't work". Why is that? When I write myClass *newClass = [myClass new]; It does work. But the class and its properties gets overwritten every time the ViewController loads again. What would you recommend?   Good day! I have 2 Projects in my Eclipse. MainActivity1 and MainActivity2 are the names of the activities. The MainActivity2 is connected to the MainActivity1 via Project in the properties of the MainActivity1. So far, I can call the package of the MainActivity2 from the MainActivity1. Now, below are my problem: I have a button in MainActivity1. What I want to do is after I click on the button in the MainActivity1, it runs the MainActivity2 project and some variables will be passed on to the MainActivity2. I've been searching in google for a while now and I couldn't get the right keyword for it. I've checked some of the questions here in StackOverflow but I'm unable to locate the problem similar to mine with calling and running the MainActivity2 class from the MainActivity1.java I'm a noob in Android Java but have knowledge in other OOP. Any tips will be a great help. Thanks
