• How can I save BioPerl sequence nested features in genbank or embl format?

  In BioPerl, a sequence object can have any number of features, and each of these can have subfeatures nested within them. For example, a feature may be a complete coding sequence of a gene, and its subfeatures might be individual exons that are concatenated to form the full coding sequence. However, when I use BioPerl to write a sequence object to a file in genbank or embl format, only the top-level features are written to the file, not the sub-features nested within the top-level features. How can I store my subfeatures in sequence files? Should I just convert all my subfeatures into top-level features, and then reconstruct the tree structure next time I read in the sequence?

• Allow native DLL to output stdout / stderr in c# console application

  I have a native DLL which outputs via stdout / stderr. I have a C# console application which calls this DLL and outputs binary data to a parent C# application which started the C# console exe, processing stdout / stderr. Currently when I call the C# exe it works just fine (the DLL hooks up to the stdout of my console application and puts its data in just fine). Is this by design (and shouldn't be broken in future .NET framework versions)? Are there limitations on my managed code's deployment with this strategy (full-trust, permission requirements, GAC issues, etc)? I can't seem to find any documentation about stdout with a managed exe and an unmanaged dll both putting data in that standard output on MSDN. Thanks,

• Blackberry pixel-specific animated focus scrolling

  Suppose I have a VFM full of both focusable and non-focusable fields. Since most of them are spread out far apart, the movement from one focused field to another is jerky at best, even with NullFields in between. In other words, it just sets the current y position to the next focused field without smoothly scrolling the screen. What I want to achieve is to be able to scroll at a fixed rate between fields, so it it doesn't just focus from one to another that instantaneously. After reading up on how to do this, it is a matter of overriding moveFocus and setting it via a TimerTask from an accessor method to set moveFocus, as per this link. However, I haven't seen a practical implementation of how to do this, complete with the routines that are called in the TimerTask's thread. Is there any way to achieve this type of behavior?

  I need some help in settingup/installing and configuring nginx LEMP stack on a fresh new VPS i have. The specs of the CentOS 5.7 VPS are 2GB DDR3 ECC RAM(4GB burst), 1 core 1.5Ghz(3Ghz burst) and 100GB RAID 10 storage, unmetered bandwidth @ 100Mpbs all for a whopping $25/month(unbeatable, yeah i know :) Anyways i have followed this LEMP(will also need MySQL and PHP) stack guide on linode http://library.linode.com/lemp-guides/centos-5 but basically what i want is to be able to host multiple website on this webserver after everything is setup. I am used to using DirectAdmin control panel on other server and want to have things setup so i can host multiple websites...mostly wordpress and drupal themes. Lets say 10 websites on this nginx web server. So can someone please help me on what i need to do to take "full" advantage of nginx power and performance, while been able to easily manage these multiple websites (wordpress and drupal themes)?   I have an application that I want to link to excel. I have no preference which control is used as long as I can copy the data or control, and paste link into excel. When the data changes in my application, I want the cell to change in excel. I have a client that claims it is possible and he has seen it, but has no proof and may be confused. I have searched the internet and have come up with a number of half-solutions, and people who want the opposite of what I want. Does anyone know the full solution?

  Hi! I need to use SET and ENUM types in my CakePHP 1.3 project. I found some advices, but all them are too old (2004-2006) and full of crazy methods, like modifying cake's core files. Also, CakePHP developers said that SET and ENUM types are not supported. Example: I have SET('alpha','beta') field, and I need to use this data as checkboxes in add & edit actions. Is there any way to add normal support (Form helpers etc.) of SET and ENUM fields?

• Facebook Social Plugins Like button returns "Website Inaccessible"

  We've just added Facebook like button to http://www.willyoung.co.uk/global/songs-and-lyrics/releases/the_hits?page=1, however the json returned by facebook is for (;;);{"error":0,"errorSummary":"","errorDescription":"","errorIsWarning":false,"silentError":0,"payload":{"requires_login":false,"success":false,"already_connected":false,"is_admin":false,"show_error":true,"error_info":{"brief":"Website inaccessible","full":"The page at http:\/\/www.willyoung.co.uk\/global\/songs-and-lyrics\/releases\/the_hits could not be reached."}}} It basically says that the website is not accessible. We've implemented this on other sites and it's fine. I'm not really sure where this is coming from. Any ideas?

• Stop Images from loading in UIWebView

  I have a website that I wish to load in a UIWebView, but it is full of images and takes ages to load. The images are useless, and only serve to reduce the usability on the iPhone. I dont own the website so I cannot change the site's actual code. The webpage is heavily linked in to the web with ASP.NET and AJAX (needs external files), so i dont think it is possible to have it load an HTML string. I want to stop the images from loading altogether. So how do i block them? Change the HTML code as its loading somehow, or block images from being loaded?

My question is, the number of free bytes reported by the above code (the _tprintf statement) doesn't match with the number of free bytes of the drive (which i check by doing a right click on the drive). I wish to know if the reason for this difference?

• Are Sphinx & thinking_sphinx really stable? Not indexing Columns

  I'm encountering strange behaviour from thinking_sphinx/sphinx. My define_index block is about 100 lines, so quite a lot of columns i'm indexing. For full-text searching I only need about 10 attributes, for sorting and filtering I have another approximately 50 columns, mostly floats and integers. By filtering I mean using the "with" or "without" options. Searching does not really work consistently. All of a sudden, one attribute fails to filter. Or if I add a new one, it does not work. Only after a lot of tinkering it suddenly starts working. I cannot really reproduce it. Steps I that sometimes lead me to success where: rm -rf db/sphinx change the attribute definition e.g. has some_attribute = has some_attribute, :sortable = true or = has some_attribute, :sortable = true, :as = "some_attribute" restarting the server assigning a new :as name = has some_attribute, :as = "some_attribute_new" (yes, I did rake ts:rebuild or rake ts:in after every step) Does anybody else encounter similar problems?

  Hi, I have report where report width is more than 2000px; it is working fine with pdf and excel output but when we export for word it is showing 550px; report only other part we are not able to see. We have one report which contains ... abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz when we export for excel or pdf it's working fine but when we export for word it's coming like abcdefg other parts are not visible.   I'm trying to make a web based media player using the HTML5 audio element implemented in Firefox 3.5 and Chrome. Reading Mozillas documentation, omitting the autobuffer attribute should result in the audio src not being requested: if specified, the audio will automatically begin being downloaded, even if not set to automatically play. This continues until the media cache is full, or the entire audio file has been downloaded, whichever comes first However, on the server side I notice the files are being requested anyway. • Action Controller: Exception - ID not found

  Hi Everyone, I am slowly getting the hang of Rails and thanks to a few people I now have a basic grasp of the database relations and associations etc. You can see my previous questions here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2714621/rails-database-relationships I have setup my applications models with all of the necessary has_one and has_many :through etc. but when I go to add a kase and choose from a company from the drop down list - it doesnt seem to be assigning the company ID to the kase. • Problems with CloseMainWindow() to close a Windows Explorer window

I´m facing a problem when trying to close a Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) window through another application, using the "Process.CloseMainWindow()" method; because it doesn´t close the Explorer window, it tries to close the full Windows (Operative System), by the way, Windows XP. • Using a table-alias in Kohana queries?

  I'm trying to run a simple query with $this->db in Kohana, but am running into some syntax issues when I try to use an alias for a table within my query: $result = $this->db ->select("ci.chapter_id, ci.book_id, ci.chapter_heading, ci.chapter_number") ->from("chapter_info ci") ->where(array("ci.chapter_number" => $chapter, "ci.book_id" => $book)) ->get(); It seems to me that this should work just fine. I'm stating that "chapter_info" ought to be known as "ci," yet this isn't taking for some reason. The error is pretty straight-forward: There was an SQL error: Table 'gb_data.chapter_info ci' doesn't exist - SELECT `ci`.`chapter_id`, `ci`.`book_id`, `ci`.`chapter_heading`, `ci`.`chapter_number` FROM (`chapter_info ci`) WHERE `ci`.`chapter_number` = 1 AND `ci`.`book_id` = 1 If I use the full table name, rather than an alias, I get the expected results without error. This requires me to write much more verbose queries, which isn't ideal. Is there some way to use shorter names for tables within Kohana's query-builder?

• Any way to separate unit tests from integration tests in VS2008?

  I have a project full of tests, unit and integration alike. Integration tests require that a pretty large database be present, so it's difficult to make it a part of the build process simply because of the time that it takes to re-initialize the database. Is there a way to somehow separate unit tests from integration tests and have the build server just run the unit tests? I see that there is an Ordered Unit test in VS2008, which allows you to pick and choose tests, but I can't make it just execute alone, without all the others. Is there a trick that I am missing? Or perhaps I could adorn the unit tests with an attribute? What are some of the approaches people are using? P.S. I know I could use mocking for integration tests (just to make them go faster) but then it wouldn't be a true integration test.

• [ASP.NET] Problems with error: "Access to the path <path> is denied."

  Hi, I was looking for the the trick to resolve that error (google, stackoverflow.com etc) and every nothing works. I need to dinamically create an .aspx file via the asp.net application. What I've done to try fix it: 1) In the folder's Properties - Security, I've added IUSR_TONY and also IIS_IUSRS and allow them the Full control to the folder. Just to check if that will help. Nope, it won't. 2) in the IIS Manager, I tried to change the Application's Pool Defaults Identity (based on that) I checked all options, with no success I don't know what to do more to fix it. Any ideas ?

• Upgrade from .NET 2.0 to .NET 3.5 problems

  I’m trying to upgrade our solution from VS2005 .NET 2.0 to VS2008 .NET 3.5. I converted the solution using VS2008 conversion wizard. All the projects (about 50) remained targeting to .NET Framework 2.0., moreover if I’m changing target framework manually for one of the projects, all referenced dll (i.e. System, System.Core, System.Data, etc. are still pointing to Framework 2.0. The only way to completely change targeting framework I found is to remove these references and refer them again using proper version of framework. Doing it manually is not best choice I think. 50 projects ~ 10 references each ~ 0.5 minutes for changing each reference is about 5 hours to complete. Am I missing something? Are there any other ways of converting full solution from .NET 2.0 to .NET 3.5? Thank you.

• When VS 2010 RC is going to be released?

  I was looking to install the latest Windows Azure Tools for Microsoft Visual Studio. However, this version doesn't work with Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2. They say that the latest version of Azure Tools & SDK will only work with VS 2008 and VS 2010 RC and that for VS 2010 Beta 2 I still need to install November release. I know that VS 2010 is going to be released on April 12th this year but does anyone knows when VS 2010 RC is coming out? EDIT: The full RTM version of Visual Studio 2010 is released as of April 14, 2010.
