  • JDK 8u20 Documentation Updates

    JDK 8u20 has been released and is available from the Java Downloads page. See the JDK 8u20 Update Release Notes for details. Highlights for this release: The Medium security level has been removed. Now only High and Very High levels are available. Applets that do not conform with the latest security practices can still be authorized to run by adding the sites that host them to the Exception Site List. See Security for more information. The javafxpackager tool has been renamed to javapackager, and supports both Java and JavaFX applications. The -B option has been added to the javapackager deploy command to enable arguments to be passed to the bundlers that are used to create self-contained applications. See javapackager for Windows or Linux and OS X for information. The <fx:bundleArgument> helper parameter argument has been added to enable arguments to be passed to the bundlers when using ant tasks. See JavaFX Ant Task Reference for more information. A new attribute is available for JAR file manifests. The Entry-Point attribute is used to identify the classes that are allowed to be used as entry points to your application. See Entry-Point Attribute for more information. A new Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) Enterprise JRE Installer, which enables users to install the JRE across the enterprise, is available for Java SE Advanced or Java SE Suite licensees.   • Specify Linq To SQL ConnectionString explicitly

    When modifying Linq to  Sql data model in Visual Studio 2010,  it re-assigns ConnectionString that is available on developer’s machine. Because the name can be different on different machines, Designer often replace it with something like ConnectionString1, which causes errors during deployment.It requires developers to ensure that ConnectionString stays unchanged.  More reliable way is to use context constructor with explicit ConnectionString name instead of parameterless default constructor GOOD:   var ctx = new MyModelDataContext(Settings.Default.ConnectionString);Not good:          var ctx = new MyModelDataContext();

  • Juju Ceilometer-Agent is not reporting about nova-compute

    I have deployed both ceilometer and ceilometer-agent and added relationship between them. After deployment I can see the resource usage for network(neutron), glance, cinder but I cannot see the information for nova-compute. But it is instructed that ceilometer-agent should deployed in every compute node but with juju its not possible to deploy it on specific compute node. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Are there Windows virtual images available for development? [closed]

    I want to test deployment of a Windows application and a virtual PC seems the easiest method (I could be wrong, feel free to comment, but the question still stands). Courtesy my Windows 7 I have Virtual PC, and I seem to recall way back in XP I could download a pre-made image for Virtual PC 200x(7?) and use that without having to install from media. Are there any similar images for developers for Virtual PC?

  • Windows XP update not working

    I have a problem with XP updating. It hangs when I try to search for updates on the website. But the automatic updates still work. And it's running IE6, so I'm trying to update to IE8, hoping that will fix the problems with the website. But when installing IE8 it just hangs at Installing Internet Explorer 8 for Windows XP And if I try to install it manually, it hangs when installing the updates for IE8. So looking at these logs, is there anything going wrong with the update process? I know what I want to achieve just not how to do it :( I have a Cisco 877W router with 4 FastEthernet interfaces, 1 ATM interface and 1 802.11 Radio. I want to set it up for a small network and am trying to construct a configuration below. I was using Google to try and flesh it out but I think I need help and guidance from actual experts!
