• Unable to access LinkedIn conections using python rauth library

  I was trying out this example at https://github.com/litl/rauth/blob/master/examples/linkedin-web.py I get a 403, Access to connections denied error and it returns KeyError: '_total'. r_network option is present. Has anyone faced this issue? Also if you look at http://docs.python-requests.org/en/latest/user/quickstart/#oauth-authentication, the 'requests' library is initializing resource_owner_key, resource_owner_secret apart from the application keys. Not sure how these are getting passed from the 'rauth' library, Was wondering if that was causing this 403 error.

• How to create an object reference to a xaml page from App.xaml.cs codebehind?

  Hi all, I have a Silverlight 4 Business Project where I have enabled the ASP.NET Authentication/Authorization role information. I would like to pass the currently authenticated user's account information from the app.xaml.cs codebehind to a different XAML page, but I have no idea how that is done, or if it's even possible. My goal is to databind the IsEnabled property of various buttons of my target XAML page, based on whether the current user is in a particular admin related role or not. The Application_UserLoaded event handler of app.xaml.cs seems to be the safest event handler to initiate this task because it fires only after the user's account information is loaded from the server. Clicking any button (1 or 2) below works correct as it goes to the correct c# button click event in the code behind file.   Can Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Web Edition be used in "closed" websites, which are hosted on the Internet, but require users to log in? We are developing a web application for banks. This is a website for clients of the bank; it allows clients to log in and view information on their personal banking accounts, stock portfolios, etc. Can this web app use SQL Server 2008 Web Edition? Here is information on this edition of SQL Server: http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2008/en/us/web.aspx It is said on this page that Web Edition can be used only on "public and Internet accessible ... Web applications". Technically, the web app we are developing is public and Internet accessible - although it requires authentication. • ASP.NET Build Images Links Dynamically

  Good Day, I am developing a website that has product images on an external server. I have code that tests to see if the image exists like (pseudo code): DynamicString = FunctionThatCreatesDynamicString() ' DynamicString = "http://external_server/path/to/file1.jpg" If ImageExists(DyanmicString) = StatusCode.200 Then ' Embed link in ASP.NET page Else ' Embed not found image in ASP.NET page End If My code builds fine and appears to execute. The problem occurs when I attempt to view the external link in a browser, the image appears properly (I have to authenticate first, but that's OK considering I'm on an internal network and this app will be used internally). However, when I attempt the view the source in my generated HTML page, I am seeing the image to the "Not Found" image when I know the image is there. I compared all the characters in my dynamically assembled to the external link and all the characters are matching up correctly. I'm wondering if the authentication has anything to do with why the image is not rendering properly on my rendered HTML. Any thoughts? TIA, coson

  I am trying to setup SVN authorization (authentication works fine already) and my AuthzSVNAccessFile looks like the following: [groups] todos = user1, user2 proj = user1 [/] @todos = r [/myproj] @proj = rw However, I can checkout the content of proj (as user1) but I can't commit to it... If i change the file changing to the following: [groups] todos = user1, user2 proj = user1 [/] @todos = rw [/myproj] @proj = rw I can successful commit... Anyone knows what's wrong with my access file? I am using SVN with SVNParentPath, to point to a folder containing multiple repositories. The errors it gives are: svn: Error: Server sent unexpected return value (403 Forbidden) in response to CHE CKOUT Thanks.

  I have been using rails for developing web applications and now i need to do design an api for iphone application and since i used respond to json it also produces json but i use devise for authentication in my web application and when i send email and password along with the api it gives out {"user":{"authentication_token":"Lsusyd27ewgasga63","email":"[email protected]"}} and there is forgot password functionality in the iphone app but in the web application when clicking on forgot password button it sends an email to the users email, whereby the user has to go to his mail and click on the link sent and it will take to the change password path and after changing it the user will be login but in this iphone app i want to send the password to the user mail and the user can use that password and login. How can i do this? Also do i have to create new controllers for api or the web application controller is enough if it respond as json? please help me.

  Hello, I need to program an authentication module that has to work with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and at the same time needs to be POSIX-compliant. I read here: developer.apple.com/leopard/overview/osfoundations.html that since Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, Mac OS X is POSIX-compliant (to POSIX 1003.1), but working under MAC OS X 10.5 Leopard myself, I can't find any trace of my user name neither in /etc/passwd nor in its successor /etc/master.passwd, which is mentioned here: developer.apple.com/mac/library/DOCUMENTATION/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/man5/passwd.5.html Instead it says in both files OpenDirectory Service is used, which should be OpenLDAP according to the OpenDirectoryService man-page. Is this still POSIX-compliant ? I guess not. I wonder how Mac OS X would handle my 100% POSIX-compliant code which depends on /etc/passwd ?   I'm working on an application which consists of a Web Application and a Standalone Application. Both of the applications use the same database and require authentication and authorization. Within the Standalone Application a web browser needs to be opened, going to a page within the Web Application. This page is for authorized users only. Could anyone tell me if there is an easy way to automatically login within the Web Application via the Standalone Application? Besides using cookies or providing a token in the url. Thank you.

• Not able to get response back on java code while http get with S60

  Hi, I am using Net Beans for developing an application on S60. I made one page for user authentication and using .net wcf service to authenticate user. i am able to send data on .net service by HttpGet method but not able to get response back on java page. I have tested it on fiddler with this url its working fine and returning response code 200, but not getting response code by java code. Following code i am using. • Extracting a Rails application into a plugin or engine

  I have a Rails 2.3 application which I would like to extract into a plugin, or engine. The application has user authentication, and basic cms capabilities supported by ancestry plugin. I want to extract the logic for the application into a plugin/engine so that I can use this code for future projects, with a different "skin" or "theme" if required. I'm not entirely sure I actually understand the difference between plugin and engine concepts, so that would be a good first point. What is the best approach, are there any good starting points, links, explanations, examples that I should follow. Also, with the release of R3 to consider, is there anything that I should be aware of for that, with regards to plugins etc. I am going to start off by watching Ryan's http://railscasts.com/episodes/149-rails-engines but obviously thats over a year old now, so one of the challenges I'm faced with is finding the most up to date and relevant information on this subject. All tips and help gratefully received.

  I think there are a few similar questions that seem to suggest using app_data in the signed request (http://developers.facebook.com/docs/authentication/signed_request/) but I'm not sure if it will be possible to do what I am trying to achieve with it as I've never used it before. If I have my Facebook 'Tab' Url as follows: http://www.facebook.com/pages/PAGE_TITLE/PAGE_ID?sk=app_APP_ID What I want to do is add an extra parameter on the end as follows: &WT.mc_id=email-uk-8014 The reason for this is for tracking purposes and links will be sent out of the form http://www.facebook.com/pages/PAGE_TITLE/PAGE_ID?sk=app_APP_ID&WT.mc_id=email-uk-8014 and the extra parameter will allow us to track the campaign id. As you can see I have no way of knowing the value of the parameter beforehand as it depends on the link clicked by the user so is it possible to somehow get the value of the WT.mc_id parameter inside my iframe app?

The server is configured to use pass-through authentication with a built-in account to access the specified physical path. However, IIS Manager cannot verify whether the built-in account has access. Make sure that the application pool identity has Read access to the physical path. If this server is joined to a domain, and the application pool identity is NetworkService or LocalSystem, verify that \$ has Read access to the physical path. Then test these settings again. The version of my IIS is 7.5.7600.16385 and my OS is Windows 7

• SQL Server Reporting Services 2008: How to set the credentials property properly?

  No matter how I configure the Credentials property I get a 401 exception when I try to Render the report. • MySQL PHP incompatibility.

  Ok maybe I've overlooked something really simple here, but I can't seem to figure this out. I'm running WAMP locally, but connecting to a remote MySQL database. The local version of PHP is the latest 5.3.0. One of the remote databases, being version 5.0.45 works fine. However, the other remote database I'm trying to connect to, which is version 5.0.22 throws the following error before dying: Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: OK packet 6 bytes shorter than expected. PID=5880 in ... Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: mysqlnd cannot connect to MySQL 4.1+ using old authentication in ... WTF? UPDATE: Reverting to PHP 5.2.* i.e. anything lower than 5.3.0 resolves the problem completely. As long as I am not running 5.3.0 I can connect to both databases. I'm not sure what the explanation is for this weirdness.

  Hi, I have a MVC app that has forms authentication enabled. The app allows printing of invoices. I have an external app that converts html to pdf. How can I call the secured page from this pdf converter app so that some security remains? The PDF converter app just requires a URL. One thought was to create a HttpHandler for an extenion of say .print and pass a public key in the URL qureystring that can be validated by the MVC app. Any ideas on this? Malcolm

  I've read all the answers on stackoverflow for similar questions but no one really laid down an explanation: why is zend/symfony/kohana/cakePHP the best for jQuery? what is the difference? I'm writing a snazzy ultra-cool web 2.0 app with google maps and facebook connect integration plus a bunch of other APIs. Almost everything will be AJAX vis JSON. For me PHP is a burden, an unnecessary evil. I need database control, almost always via JSON. I need user authentication. This is all. Nothing fancy. And I need it to scale. Most of all I need it to work effortlessly with jQuery, I need it to be jQuery's BFF, and I need to know why it is so. • How to specify a web service URL within a Drupal module's simpletest?

  I have a Drupal module that talks to a REST API on a separate server for user registration and authentication. The module runs on multiple sites which point to different servers which may run different versions of the REST API. Ideally, I'd like to be able to run each site against its own end-point, in case changes on the back end break things. Is there a way to dynamically specify a different end-point URL when running a test? Or do I have to edit the .test file for each site? I'm trying to keep the module's files as generic and flexible as possible. I guess I could have the .test file look for a .inc file that could override the URL, if needed for a particular site. Is there a better way though?

• Omniauth + Pow Issue

  I am having a strange issue with Pow and Omniauth. Omniauth (Facebook Login) works fine when using localhost:3000, but when using Pow (appname.dev) things get fishy. Users are taken through the redirect and properly created if they don't exist in the database, as they should be. After this, however, they are redirected to the root_path and not signed in. Their record is saved in the database as expected, but sign in does not occur. Again, this is only happening on Pow (and lvh.me), and not on localhost. Any ideas? I am using the Devise/Omniauth approach for sign-in, and the controller code looks like this: def facebook @user = User.find_for_facebook_oauth(request.env["omniauth.auth"], current_user) if @user.persisted? flash[:notice] = I18n.t "devise.omniauth_callbacks.success", :kind => "Facebook" sign_in_and_redirect @user, :event => :authentication else session["devise.facebook_data"] = request.env["omniauth.auth"] redirect_to new_user_registration_url end end Again, the user is persisted but there is no flash notice or sign_in that occurs when using POW.

• How can I get jcifs to play nicely with apache axis

  I need to connect Apache Axis 1.4 to a Webservice that uses NTLM authentication to restrict access to its operations. I'm expecting to use Samba Jcifs to handle the NTLM handshake. I found http://hc.apache.org/httpcomponents-client/ntlm.html which gives me fantastic directions for how to wire up HttpClient 4.0 with jcifs. Trouble is, Axis wants to use Http Client 3.0 and the two apis look very different. There are 2 possibilities that I can see Write an object for Axis that lets it plug into HttpClient 4. Figure out how to wire HttpClient 3.0 up with Samba Jcifs. Number 1. looks non-trivial, but possible Number 2. I cannot find any encouraging messages on the web describing how to do this. My question is: has anyone successfully connected samba jcifs with HttpClient 3.0 ? Has anyone already created an Axis HttpSender object that works with HttpClient 4 ? Is there some better alternative that I have not considered?

• Is it possible to send an automated email with dynamic content in Rails

  Hi Everyone, I am looking into the best way of doing the following: I have a model called Kase, and when a user creates a new case then are taken to the show view as you would expect. I am trying to work out what the best way of sending an automated email between those two events is. I would need to include in the email the content of a couple of the fields, ideally I am looking for a way of just typing out the email and adding the same snippets that are in the show view for each of the fields I need. I am using the Base App from Github so the email sending is already setup for the user authentication and registration, but I'm not sure where to begin. The reason I want to send the email is to create a new Case in our Highrise account, and I don't have a clue how to use the API. So I think the email sending is the easier way. Thanks, Danny

• Would it be faster to use CMS for building the first site in ASP.NET?

  I need an opinion and advise from experienced ASP.NET people, what way to go. Assuming that a developer has some practical background with HTML/JavaScript/PHP on one side and some .NET/C#/WPF experience on the other side. No previous hands on experience with ASP.NET - only theory and some read books on the topic. The task is to build ASP.NET web site with User Managment functionality (user authentication, user account, user buying history, user points and so on) and E-commerce functionality with shopping cart, checkout and all needed for this. Is it worth, i.e. will it be faster, more reliable and secure in the result to use a ASP.NET CMS system (for example Sitefinity from Telerik as declared developer friendly) to build such first site? In what case the learning curve will be more steep and it will take more time to achieve similar results? Notes to take into consideration: 1) Price of the CMS matters not very much 2) E-commerce module should be written from scratch in any case (and integrated in case of using CMS) due to very specific requirements
