    Hi, I use adobe Illustrator creative suite 3. Now there seems to be a problem. I can't save my Illustrations In the .pdf format, since this format seems to preserve the graphic quality this Is vitally Important to me. If I save the Graphic In .jpef /.gif or png there Is some serious loss of quality so I need to find out a way to get this sorted. when I try to save the graphic as pdf It says "An unknown error has occured" please can anyone help me out here?   • Eclipse Debug Mode disrupting MSSQL Server 2005 Stored Procedure access

    We have a strange problem in our team. When a developer is using Eclipse in Debug mode, MS SQL Server 2005 blocks other developers from accessing a stored procedure. Debug session typically involves opening Hibernate session to persist an entity which could be accessing a stored procedure used for Primary key generation. Debugging is done in business logic code and rarely in JDBC stored procedure call. Is there any way to configure MS SQL server or the stored procedure so that other developers are not blocked?

So the master data storage would be a relational DB which is "replicated"/"transformed" into SimpleDB to provide very fast read only queries since no JOINS and complicated subselects are needed.

  • JUnit unable to find tests in Eclipse

    I have a strange issue with JUnit 4 tests in Eclipse 3.5 that I couldn't solve - any hints gratefully received! Initially: I had a test suite working properly, with 100+ tests all configured with JUnit 4 annotations. I'd run these typically by right clicking on my source folder and selecting "Run as JUnit test". All worked perfectly. Now: When I try to run the test messages all I get is an error "No tests found with test runner 'JUnit 4'". Any idea what is happening? I simply can't work out what could have changed to make this fail. My guess is that it is some configuration issue based on the build path or class path?

    Background: On a new project I've found myself 3 levels removed from my actual source of information. I report to my PM, who reports to our contractor, who reports to the actual client. Getting answers to questions has become something of a problem and I'm curious to know what people recommend. Needs: I'm trying to find a technology or disciplined strategy that will assist me in ensuring that the questions I'm asking are getting answered: Correctly without much modification of the original question Quickly so the original context isn't lost Completely so that if a question is deferred I don't forget about it. But for multiple users, log file cannot be read easily.     Been Googling around without finding much at all, so does anyone know of a class or library that helps you parse any sort of language, like a Domain Specific Language (I'm creating one, so I'm flexible in what the syntax and format can be) into either PHP code or some helpful struct or a class hiearchy or ... ? Anything goes at this point. :) I want to experiment with parsing text files into tokens, building up a small grammar and syntax library to express things like Business Natural Languages.

  • Automatic program update and Windows 7

    Hi We have a suite of programs that check for new versions at startup, and then download new versions to run if required. This is obviously a problem in Windows 7, when it is locked down as a 'standard user', as they can't write to the c:\program files directory and below. Anyone seen a example of an application that gets around with issue ? Our applications are written in Delphi, but an example in any language would be useful. Thanks in advance Update: We already have a system for determing whether a new version exists, the only problem is the download and install (if required), as this requires elevation. I can't think of a way that doesn't require an elevation prompt, or our users to reduce their security settings. Update 2 : I've asked a subsequent question, rather than adding a new one here

  • How can unit testing make parameter validation redundant?

    We have a convention to validate all parameters of constructors and public functions/methods. For mandatory parameters of reference type, we mainly check for non-null and that's the chief validation in constructors, where we set up mandatory dependencies of the type. The number one reason why we do this is to catch that error early and not get a null reference exception a few hours down the line without knowing where or when the faulty parameter was introduced. As we start transitioning to more and more TDD, some team members feel the validation is redundant. Uncle Bob, who is a vocal advocate of TDD, strongly advices against doing parameter validation. His main argument seems to be "I have a suite of unit tests that makes sure everything works". But I can for the life of it just not see in what way unit tests can prevent our developers from calling these methods with bad parameters in production code. Please, unit testers out there, if you could explain this to me in a rational way with concrete examples, I'd be more than happy to seize this parameter validation!

    Our CEO wants our iPhone app's icons to look correct (ie not scaled) on both the iPad and iPhone. He does not want to actually create separate versions, or a universal version of the app. The app will remain iPhone only, but the icon would need to show up proper on both devices. This is a "business decision", and I think its rather silly but regardless - is this possible? OR would we have to create a universal version?

  • Connecting to TFS via ASP.NET, jQuery and Phonegap

    I want to develop a mobile application that would allow the user the ability to run a suite of automated test cases housed in TFS. This is something I thought of this morning so it's all still very preliminary. But I'm curious as to what would be the best route for something like this? Or if it's even possible? Because the mobile devices from the users will vary from iphones to droids, I would probably want to incorporate something like Phonegap for it's cross platform capabilities. My initial thought was to develop in ASP.net/C# (which would be stored on a remote server), and have jQuery make calls to that server. Not sure if that would be the most appropriate way of handling this. I'm not too familiar with JSON but I have seen it as a suggestion on various sites to handle the returned data. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

  • Are there design-time watch windows for Visual Studio 2008/2010?

    There are many times when I need to test a little snippet of .net code but rebuilding and publishing the entire project or writing a suite of unit tests just seems like overkill. For example, I am writing a regular expression right now and I want to see if it the pattern is matching on the right parts. I could go and find a million other utilities that do that sort of thing, but that is not exactly my point. FireBug has an exact analogue to what I want - the FireBug console. There is a text box where the user can enter some JavaScript and FireBug will execute it on the spot and display the return value. I would love to be able to enter something like (new Regex("b+")).Replace("abc", "x") and see the results without having to do all the overhead. Does VS have anything like this?
