• set up wamp server to run on lan

  I have 2 computers. Both with w7 as os. I have installed wampserver on one of them. I have mysql database on wampserver. Then I have made a vb.net program to connect to mysql database. I have put the program on both computers. What I want to do is for those two programs to see the same database that is on one computer. For them to be able to add, delete, update that 1 database. How do I do that? How do I network the mysql database? Do I also have to install wampserver on the other computer? What do I do? Please enlighten me.

Microsoft Mondays is program consisting of a series of Webcasts showcasing various Microsoft products and technologies. The idea behind the “Microsoft Mondays” program is to help you become more proficient in the products and technologies that you use and help you utilize their full potential.   Test Driven Development in Visual Studio 2010 Level – 300 (  Intermediate – Advanced ) Test Driven Development (TDD), also frequently referred to as Test Driven Design, is a development methodology where developers create software by first writing a unit test, then writing the actual system code to make the unit test pass.  The unit test can be viewed as a small specification around how the system should behave; writing it first helps the developer to focus on only writing enough code to make the test pass, thereby helping ensure a tight, lightweight system which is specifically focused meeting on the documented requirements. TDD follows a cadence of “Red, Green, Refactor.” Red refers to the visual display of a failing test – the test you write first will not pass because you have not yet written any code for it. Green refers to the step of writing just enough code in your system to make your unit test pass – your test runner’s UI will now show that test passing with a green icon. • Set umask, set permissions, and set ACL, but SAMBA isn't using those?

  I'm running on Ubuntu Server 12.04. I have a folder called Music and I want the default folder permissions to be 775 and the default file to then be 664. I set the default permissions on the Music folder to be 775. I configured ACL to use these default permissions as well: file: Music owner: kris group: kris flags: ss- user::rwx group::rwx other::r-x default:user::rwx default:group::rwx default:other::r-x I also changed the default umask for my user account, kris, to 002 in .profile. Shouldn't and new file/folder now use those permissions when writing to the Samba share? ACL should work with Samba from what I can gather. Currently, if I write to that folder using my mac, folders are getting 755 and files 644. I have another app on my mac called GoodSync which which is able to sync a local directory on my mac to a network samba share, but those permissions are even worse. files are being written as 700 using that program. So it looks like Samba is allowing the host/program to determine the folder/file permissions. What changes do I need to make to force the permissions I want regardless of what the host tries to write on the server?

  I have a problem with my freeradius server configuration. I want to be able to authenticate users against Windows ActiveDirectory (2008 R2) and the users file, because some of my co-workers are not listed in AD. We use the freeradius server to authenticate WLAN users. • Using a cell phone as a PC remote control

  I have a sony ericsson phone that can control any PC using bluetooth, as long as it has permission to do so, of course. It doesn't require any server software of any kind, it just works out of the box with any PC (or mac) that is bluetooth enabled. Is there any program I could use that has the same functionality? I don't want to install anything on the PC, I just want to be able to use the program installed on the phone. I prefer Java ME/Android/Symbian apps, I don't have an iPhone.

  I use Ubuntu 12.10 and I tried to follow this guide Install android sdk and eclipse in Ubuntu 12.04 but I keep getting this error: Error: The AVD manager normally uses the user's profile directory to store AVD files. However it failed to find the default profile directory. To fix this, please set the environment variable ANDROID_SDK_HOME to a valid path such as ¨~¨. Any ideas how can I fix this?

So I tested monit and stopped the process.   The full error in Microsoft Visual Studio on a compile looks like this: error CS1548: Cryptographic failure while signing assembly 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Samples\Analysis Services\Programmability\AMO\AMOAdventureWorks\CS\StoredProcedures\obj\Debug\StoredProcedures.dll' This is likely due to a missing strong key pair value file. The easiest way to solve this problem is to create a new one. Navigate to:  Microsoft Visual Studio 2010>Visual Studio Tools>Visual Studio x64 Win64 Command Prompt (2010)  [if you aren't on an x64 box, pick another command prompt option that fits] Once the MS-Dos window displays, type in this statement: sn -k c:\SampleKey.snk Then copy the output *.snk file to project directory, or the *referenced directory. Remove the old reference to the *.snk file from the project. Add the paired key back to the project as an existing item. When you add back the *.snk file to the project, you will see that the *.snk file is no longer missing.   Our work is done!   *referenced directory: Pay attention to the original error message on compile. The *.snk file that is referenced may be in a directory path you aren't expecting--so you will still get the error unless you change the directory path or write the file to the directory the program is expecting to find the *.snk file.

• T-SQL Tuesday #33: Trick Shots: Undocumented, Underdocumented, and Unknown Conspiracies!

  Mike Fal (b | t) is hosting this month's T-SQL Tuesday on Trick Shots.  I love this choice because I've been preoccupied with sneaky/tricky/evil SQL Server stuff for a long time and have been presenting on it for the past year.  Mike's directives were "Show us a cool trick or process you developed…It doesn’t have to be useful", which most of my blogging definitely fits, and "Tell us what you learned from this trick…tell us how it gave you insight in to how SQL Server works", which is definitely a new concept.  I've done a lot of reading and watching on SQL Server Internals and even attended training, but sometimes I need to go explore on my own, using my own tools and techniques.  It's an itch I get every few months, and, well, it sure beats workin'. I've found some people to be intimidated by SQL Server's internals, and I'll admit there are A LOT of internals to keep track of, but there are tons of excellent resources that clearly document most of them, and show how knowing even the basics of internals can dramatically improve your database's performance.  It may seem like rocket science, or even brain surgery, but you don't have to be a genius to understand it. Although being an "evil genius" can help you learn some things they haven't told you about. ;) This blog post isn't a traditional "deep dive" into internals, it's more of an approach to find out how a program works.  It utilizes an extremely handy tool from an even more extremely handy suite of tools, Sysinternals.  I'm not the only one who finds Sysinternals useful for SQL Server: Argenis Fernandez (b | t), Microsoft employee and former T-SQL Tuesday host, has an excellent presentation on how to troubleshoot SQL Server using Sysinternals, and I highly recommend it.  Argenis didn't cover the Strings.exe utility, but I'll be using it to "hack" the SQL Server executable (DLL and EXE) files. Please note that I'm not promoting software piracy or applying these techniques to attack SQL Server via internal knowledge. This is strictly educational and doesn't reveal any proprietary Microsoft information.  And since Argenis works for Microsoft and demonstrated Sysinternals with SQL Server, I'll just let him take the blame for it. :P (The truth is I've used Strings.exe on SQL Server before I ever met Argenis.) Once you download and install Strings.exe you can run it from the command line.  For our purposes we'll want to run this in the Binn folder of your SQL Server instance (I'm referencing SQL Server 2012 RTM): cd "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11\MSSQL\Binn" C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11\MSSQL\Binn> strings *sql*.dll > sqldll.txt C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11\MSSQL\Binn> strings *sql*.exe > sqlexe.txt   I've limited myself to DLLs and EXEs that have "sql" in their names.  There are quite a few more but I haven't examined them in any detail. (Homework assignment for you!) If you run this yourself you'll get 2 text files, one with all the extracted strings from every SQL DLL file, and the other with the SQL EXE strings.  You can open these in Notepad, but you're better off using Notepad++, EditPad, Emacs, Vim or another more powerful text editor, as these will be several megabytes in size. And when you do open it…you'll find…a TON of gibberish.  (If you think that's bad, just try opening the raw DLL or EXE file in Notepad.  And by the way, don't do this in production, or even on a running instance of SQL Server.)  Even if you don't clean up the file, you can still use your editor's search function to find a keyword like "SELECT" or some other item you expect to be there.  As dumb as this sounds, I sometimes spend my lunch break just scanning the raw text for anything interesting.  I'm boring like that. Sometimes though, having these files available can lead to some incredible learning experiences.  For me the most recent time was after reading Joe Sack's post on non-parallel plan reasons.  He mentions a new SQL Server 2012 execution plan element called NonParallelPlanReason, and demonstrates a query that generates "MaxDOPSetToOne".  Joe (formerly on the Microsoft SQL Server product team, so he knows this stuff) mentioned that this new element was not currently documented and tried a few more examples to see what other reasons could be generated. Since I'd already run Strings.exe on the SQL Server DLLs and EXE files, it was easy to run grep/find/findstr for MaxDOPSetToOne on those extracts.  Once I found which files it belonged to (sqlmin.dll) I opened the text to see if the other reasons were listed.  As you can see in my comment on Joe's blog, there were about 20 additional non-parallel reasons.  And while it's not "documentation" of this underdocumented feature, the names are pretty self-explanatory about what can prevent parallel processing. I especially like the ones about cursors – more ammo! - and am curious about the PDW compilation and Cloud DB replication reasons. One reason completely stumped me: NoParallelHekatonPlan.  What the heck is a hekaton?  Google and Wikipedia were vague, and the top results were not in English.  I found one reference to Greek, stating "hekaton" can be translated as "hundredfold"; with a little more Wikipedia-ing this leads to hecto, the prefix for "one hundred" as a unit of measure.  I'm not sure why Microsoft chose hekaton for such a plan name, but having already learned some Greek I figured I might as well dig some more in the DLL text for hekaton.  Here's what I found: hekaton_slow_param_passing Occurs when a Hekaton procedure call dispatch goes to slow parameter passing code path The reason why Hekaton parameter passing code took the slow code path hekaton_slow_param_pass_reason sp_deploy_hekaton_database sp_undeploy_hekaton_database sp_drop_hekaton_database sp_checkpoint_hekaton_database sp_restore_hekaton_database e:\sql11_main_t\sql\ntdbms\hekaton\sqlhost\sqllang\hkproc.cpp e:\sql11_main_t\sql\ntdbms\hekaton\sqlhost\sqllang\matgen.cpp e:\sql11_main_t\sql\ntdbms\hekaton\sqlhost\sqllang\matquery.cpp e:\sql11_main_t\sql\ntdbms\hekaton\sqlhost\sqllang\sqlmeta.cpp e:\sql11_main_t\sql\ntdbms\hekaton\sqlhost\sqllang\resultset.cpp Interesting!  The first 4 entries (in red) mention parameters and "slow code".  Could this be the foundation of the mythical DBCC RUNFASTER command?  Have I been passing my parameters the slow way all this time? And what about those sp_xxxx_hekaton_database procedures (in blue)? Could THEY be the secret to a faster SQL Server? Could they promise a "hundredfold" improvement in performance?  Are these special, super-undocumented DIB (databases in black)? I decided to look in the SQL Server system views for any objects with hekaton in the name, or references to them, in hopes of discovering some new code that would answer all my questions: SELECT name FROM sys.all_objects WHERE name LIKE '%hekaton%' SELECT name FROM sys.all_objects WHERE object_definition(OBJECT_ID) LIKE '%hekaton%' Which revealed: name ------------------------ (0 row(s) affected) name ------------------------ sp_createstats sp_recompile sp_updatestats (3 row(s) affected)   Hmm.  Well that didn't find much.  Looks like these procedures are seriously undocumented, unknown, perhaps forbidden knowledge. Maybe a part of some unspeakable evil? (No, I'm not paranoid, I just like mysteries and thought that punching this up with that kind of thing might keep you reading.  I know I'd fall asleep without it.) OK, so let's check out those 3 procedures and see what they reveal when I search for "Hekaton": sp_createstats: -- filter out local temp tables, Hekaton tables, and tables for which current user has no permissions -- Note that OBJECTPROPERTY returns NULL on type="IT" tables, thus we only call it on type='U' tables   OK, that's interesting, let's go looking down a little further: ((@table_type<>'U') or (0 = OBJECTPROPERTY(@table_id, 'TableIsInMemory'))) and -- Hekaton table   Wellllll, that tells us a few new things: There's such a thing as Hekaton tables (UPDATE: I'm not the only one to have found them!) They are not standard user tables and probably not in memory UPDATE: I misinterpreted this because I didn't read all the code when I wrote this blog post. The OBJECTPROPERTY function has an undocumented TableIsInMemory option Let's check out sp_recompile: -- (3) Must not be a Hekaton procedure.   And once again go a little further: if (ObjectProperty(@objid, 'IsExecuted') <> 0 AND ObjectProperty(@objid, 'IsInlineFunction') = 0 AND ObjectProperty(@objid, 'IsView') = 0 AND -- Hekaton procedure cannot be recompiled -- Make them go through schema version bumping branch, which will fail ObjectProperty(@objid, 'ExecIsCompiledProc') = 0)   And now we learn that hekaton procedures also exist, they can't be recompiled, there's a "schema version bumping branch" somewhere, and OBJECTPROPERTY has another undocumented option, ExecIsCompiledProc.  (If you experiment with this you'll find this option returns null, I think it only works when called from a system object.) This is neat! Sadly sp_updatestats doesn't reveal anything new, the comments about hekaton are the same as sp_createstats.  But we've ALSO discovered undocumented features for the OBJECTPROPERTY function, which we can now search for: SELECT name, object_definition(OBJECT_ID) FROM sys.all_objects WHERE object_definition(OBJECT_ID) LIKE '%OBJECTPROPERTY(%'   I'll leave that to you as more homework.  I should add that searching the system procedures was recommended long ago by the late, great Ken Henderson, in his Guru's Guide books, as a great way to find undocumented features.  That seems to be really good advice! Now if you're a programmer/hacker, you've probably been drooling over the last 5 entries for hekaton (in green), because these are the names of source code files for SQL Server!  Does this mean we can access the source code for SQL Server?  As The Oracle suggested to Neo, can we return to The Source??? Actually, no. Well, maybe a little bit.  While you won't get the actual source code from the compiled DLL and EXE files, you'll get references to source files, debugging symbols, variables and module names, error messages, and even the startup flags for SQL Server.  And if you search for "DBCC" or "CHECKDB" you'll find a really nice section listing all the DBCC commands, including the undocumented ones.  Granted those are pretty easy to find online, but you may be surprised what those web sites DIDN'T tell you! (And neither will I, go look for yourself!)  And as we saw earlier, you'll also find execution plan elements, query processing rules, and who knows what else.  It's also instructive to see how Microsoft organizes their source directories, how various components (storage engine, query processor, Full Text, AlwaysOn/HADR) are split into smaller modules. There are over 2000 source file references, go do some exploring! So what did we learn?  We can pull strings out of executable files, search them for known items, browse them for unknown items, and use the results to examine internal code to learn even more things about SQL Server.  We've even learned how to use command-line utilities!  We are now 1337 h4X0rz!  (Not really.  I hate that leetspeak crap.) Although, I must confess I might've gone too far with the "conspiracy" part of this post.  I apologize for that, it's just my overactive imagination.  There's really no hidden agenda or conspiracy regarding SQL Server internals.  It's not The Matrix.  It's not like you'd find anything like that in there: Attach Matrix Database DM_MATRIX_COMM_PIPELINES MATRIXXACTPARTICIPANTS dm_matrix_agents   Alright, enough of this paranoid ranting!  Microsoft are not really evil!  It's not like they're The Borg from Star Trek: ALTER FEDERATION DROP ALTER FEDERATION SPLIT DROP FEDERATION   #tsql2sday

Example: I want to create new context name which can be extendable to put inside more programs. That is like "New" or "View" that show as more options after using it. Here is what i tried (and is working when you want to put one program to desktop): I created in registry "New Folder" with name of some programs (i.e. "notepad") inside of this location HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shell\ Inside of new created folder ("notepad") i put one more time "New Folder" and name it "command" (must be same name) Inside of "command" at string ("Default") put the location through notepad ("C:\Windows\system32\notepad.exe") - and now when you click right mouse button on desktop will see new context text with name "notepad" what will of course open notepad if you use them Well what i'm searching for is to find solution of how to make context name which will offer as to use more that one programs, do you have any solution? • Check packet vlan tag using Tap virtual interface

  Hi all, I am trying to learn how to implement virtual interfaces using the Tap driver. So far my understanding is that using the tap driver I can create a virtual interface and then have a userspace program attach to this interface to analyse the data coming into this device. Now what if I attach a cisco switch to my LAN interface using a TRUNK link, forward all the packets coming into the LAN interface to the virtual tap interface and then in my program attached to this interface do some coding to analyze the vlan tag in the packet and only allow certain vlans to be forwarded to the WAN interface ? Does this sound plausible or is there is flaw in my basic understanding ? Thanks for the help! ankit

• Running OLEDB VB6 Windows Progam Under Wine

  I'm trying to install a VB6 Windows program that uses OLEDB to access VFP tables to run under Wine 1.0.1 on Ubuntu 9.10. Wine is configured to Windows version Windows XP. The program install ran okay, and I used winetricks to install MDAC 2.8 and JET 4.0 sp7. I also installed Microsoft's vfpoledb and vfpodbc drivers. The application starts and displays an error message, item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

• Error codes 80070490 and 8024200D in Windows Update

  How do get past these stupid errors? The way I have set things up is that Windows Update tells me when there are new updates available and then I review them before installing them. Yesterday it told me that there were 11 new updates. So I reviewed them and I saw that about half of them were security updates for Vista x64 and .NET Framework 2.0 SP2, and half of them were just regular updates for Vista x64. I checked them all and hit the Install button. It seemed to work at first, updates were being downloaded and installed, but then at update 11 of 11 total it got stuck and gave me the two error codes you see in the title. Here are some screenshots to give you an idea of what it looks like. This is what it looks like when it presents the updates to me. This is how it looks like when the installation fails. I'm not sure if you're gonna see this very well but these are the updates it's trying to install. Update: This is on Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit with integrated SP2, installed only two weeks ago on 2012-10-02. Aside from this, the install is working flawlessly. I have not done any major changes to the system like installing new devices or drivers. What I have tried so far: - I tried installing the System Update Readiness Tool (the correct one for Vista x64) from Microsoft. This did not solve the issue. As I have done so and it didn't solve the problem the next step would be to try to repair Windows. Before I do that, is there anything else I can try? Microsoft automatic troubleshooter If I click the automatic troubleshooter link available on the solution web page above it directs me to download a file called windowsupdate.diagcab. But after download this file is not associated to any Windows program. Is this the so called Microsoft Fix It program? It doesn't have its icon, it's just blank file. Does it need to be associated? And to what Windows program?

• Solution 6 : Kill a Non-Clustered Process during Two-Node Cluster Failover

  Using Visual Studio 2008 and C#, I developed a windows service A and deployed it to two nodes of a windows server 2008 failover cluster. The service A is part of the failover cluster service, which means, when failover occurs at node1, the cluster service will failover the windows service A from node 1 to node 2. One of the tasks implemented by the windows service A is to start, monitor or kill a process B. The process B is installed to the two nodes but is not part of the failover cluster service. When a failover occurs at node1, the cluster service does not failover the process B from node 1 to node 2, and the process B continues running at node1. The requirement is: When failover occurs at node1, we want the process B running at node1 gets killed, but we do not want the process B be part of the failover cluster service. The first idea that pops up immediately is to put some code in an event handler triggered by the failover in the windows service A. The failover effect to the windows service A is similar to using the task manager to kill the process of the windows service A, but there is no event in windows service that can be triggered by killing the process of the window service. The events related to terminating a windows service are OnStop and OnShutDown, but killing the process of windows service A triggers neither of them. The OnStop event can only be triggered by stopping the windows service using Services Control Manager or Services Management Console. Apparently, the first idea is not feasible. The second idea that emerges is to put code into the OnStart event handler of the windows service A. When failover occurs at node 1, the windows service A is killed at node 1 and started at node 2. During the starting, the windows service A at node 2 kills the process B that is running at node 1. It is a workaround and works very well. The C# code implementation within the OnStart event handler is as following: 1.       Capture server names of the two nodes from App.config 2.       Determine server name of the remote node. 3.       Kill the process B running on the remote node.   I'm trying to get my java program to talk to a MySQL DB. So i did some reading and downloaded MySQL Connector/J. I've extracted it into my home directory ~.   since i updated my ubuntu to natty narwhal(from 10.04), my mount script doesn't work anymore. The scripts mounts a folder from a NAS (WD mybookworld) in the local network to a folder in my home folder. script looked like that: #!/bin/bash sudo mount //192.168.2.222/Public/Shared\ Music/ /home/simon/Musik/ error: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on //192.168.2.222/Public/Shared Music/, missing codepage or helper program, or other error (for several filesystems (e.g. nfs, cifs) you might need a /sbin/mount.<type> helper program) Manchmal liefert das Syslog wertvolle Informationen – versuchen Sie dmesg | tail oder so now, because the script doesn't work anymore i decided to add the mount-process to my fstab, because the network drive should be mounted on every startup. My fstab entry looks like this: //192.168.2.222/Public/Shared\ Music/ /home/simon/Musik cifs credentials=/home/simon/.smbcredentials 0 0 But it doesn't work, too. I get a message during the startup process, that Musik couldn't be mounted. Are there any log files i can check for errors? The system is a fresh installed 11.04. Greetings
