  • another file_exists with special chars problem

    I have some folders with special characters in their names. I run currently at a test-computer with Windows OS, but later I will use LINUX. My problem is that the folders with special chars in their names cannot be recognized somehow. ex: file_exists('../Bilar/27733691_1.jpg') // TRUE file_exists('../Båtar/27733691_1.jpg') // FALSE because of the special char in folder name... How should I solve this? I plan to run LINUX in the future when website is online... would that matter? Please explain thoroughly because I am a newb at this Thanks

  • Guide Text Not working when text is entered using another control

    I have a textbox used to enter the text by user, which guide-text which disappears when user starts to write. But when I use a dropdown & select a text from it, & this text is automatically entered in the textbox, the guide-text is not fading away.     Is there any way to make only a non-transparent portion of an image to trigger mouse-over event? If the mouse travels to the transparent area, the mouse-out should be triggered and the script should listen for any mouse-over event on a layer underneath the image. Is it possible?     I want to change the link-style for some of my links, like this: a:hover { /* These links will be blue when hovered-over */ background-color: #3366FF; } However, I only want this to take effect in my Navigation Bar, and not for regular links. I have tried variations on this: #navbar a:hover { /* These links will be blue when hovered-over */ background-color: #3366FF; } With the intended meaning "this only applies to links with <div id="navbar">" But it didn't work. How can I set the style for only certain links, defined by the class or id of their container?

  • Usability of an endless/infinite scroll

Two things I personally thought of are as follows: Impossible to tell someone where an item of interest is located (like, you probably won't say "324-th row, second column") Broken navigation when you return back to an infinitely scrolled page.   • Detecting file upload size on the client side?

    I'm using PHP for file uploads. In the PHP manual it shows an example using a MAX_FILE_SIZE hidden field, saying that it will detect on the client side (i.e. the browser) whether the file is too large or not. I've just tried the example in Firefox, Chrome and IE and it doesn't work. The file is always uploaded, even if it is way larger than the specified hidden field. Incidentally, if the file is larger than MAX_FILE_SIZE then calling move_uploaded_file doesn't work, so it seems the variable is having an effect server-side, but not client-side.

    What's the best way to center icons on a line when the images are smaller than the line height? This example also shows why vertical-align: middle does not work. I want the img to be centered against the text of the div. That is, even if the text wrapped to multiple lines, the image would be centered against a single line.     I have been trying to find if a file_exist in the directory. If not i want to use a different image. But as i am using the file_exists function it always returns false.
