• DataGridView and checkboxes re-selecting automatically

  I have a strange problem with a DataGridView I'm using which is bound to a table in VB.net I've added a checkbox column to allow a user to tick a bunch of rows that I can then loop through and save off to a different table. All the checkboxes are enabled by default. So it's really a case of unchecking the rows which aren't required. However, the DataGridView re-enables any checkbox that I click after I click on a checkbox in another row. So in effect, only one row can be unchecked at a time. I'm sure I'm probably missing something obvious here?

  I'm not sure if I understand this code or if I'm using it right, but I was under the impression that in an ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX website I could run javascript like: var c = Sys.CultureInfo.CurrentCulture and it would give me the culture/language settings the user had specified in their browser at the time of the visit. However, for me, it always comes back 'en-US' no matter what language I pick in firefox or IE. This serverside code however: string[] languages = HttpContext.Current.Request.UserLanguages; if (languages == null || languages.Length == 0) return null; try { string language = languages[0].ToLowerInvariant().Trim(); return CultureInfo.CreateSpecificCulture(language); } catch (ArgumentException) { return null; } does return the language I have currently set. But I need to do this clientside, because I need to parse a string into a datetime and do some validations before I postback, and the string could be a MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY, or some other such thing. What am I missing?

• Oracle/c#: How do i use bind variables with select statements to return multiple records?

  I have a question regarding Oracle bind variables and select statements. What I would like to achieve is do a select on a number different values for the primary key. I would like to pass these values via an array using bind values. select * from tb_customers where cust_id = :1 int[] cust_id = { 11, 23, 31, 44 , 51 }; I then bind a DataReader to get the values into a table. The problem is that the resulting table only contains a single record (for cust_id=51). Thus it seems that each statement is executed independently (as it should), but I would like the results to be available as a collective (single table). A workaround is to create a temporary table, insert all the values of cust_id and then do a join against tb_customers. The problem with this approach is that I would require temporary tables for every different type of primary key, as I would like to use this against a number of tables (some even have combined primary keys). Is there anything I am missing?

• Are entities cached in jpa by default ?

  Hello, I add entity to my database and it works fine. But when i retrieve the List, i get the old entity, the new entities i add are not shown until i undeploy the application and redeploy it again. This means are my entities cached by default? But, I haven't made any settings for caching entities in my persistence.xml or any such file. I have even tried calling flush(), refresh() and merge(). But still it shows the old entities only. Am i missing something? Please help me.

• Understanding Plesk Watchdog statistics

  We have Plesk 8.3 installed. I've started using their Watchdog module to track server useage. Our server routinely has trouble with the amount of traffic we have and I think our MySQL queries need to be smarter. Anyway, looking at the stats from Watchdog, it seems like MySQL usage is low compared to so something else making up the "overall" usage. See this: I was hoping someone with a lot of Plesk exeprience could help me understand what I'm seeing here. Can I not trust Watchdog's reports or am I missing something?

• My AES encryption/decryption functions don't work with random ivecs

  I was bored and wrote a wrapper around openSSL to do AES encryption with less work. If I do it like this: http://pastebin.com/V1eqz4jp (ivec = 0) Everything works fine, but the default ivec is all 0's, which has some security problems. Since I'm passing the data back as a string anyway, I figured, why not generate a random ivec and stick it to the front, the take it back off when I decrypt the string?   I need to connect to an Ingres supplied demodb through OpenAPI, both Ingres and C application running on windows. What i have done: Created a "node" in the Ingres Network Utility named "usernode". created user accounts in the Ingres installation (named "user" password "user") and in the Windows user management (the same creds.) Granted necessary privileges to the user in the database. In C code i have called IIapi_connect() function with an IIAPI_CONNPARM structure. Used members: co_target = "usernode::demodb", co_username = "user", co_password = "user" But IIapi_connect() call returns an error: "User provided a vnode as part of the database name (vnode::dbname), but connection information for that vnode is missing. Enter connection information for the vnode using NETUTIL." Anybody knows something that is a weird concept "node"? What are the minimum steps (in the database administration and the function parameters passing) necessary for the successful connect?

  Hi, I have never used datagrids and such, but today I came across a simple problem and decided to "databind" stuff to finish this faster, however I've found that it doesn't work as I was expecting. I though that by doing something as simple as: var q = from cust in dc.Customers where cust.FirstName == someString select cust; var list = new BindingList<Customer>(q.ToList()); return list; Then using that list in a DataGridView1.DataSource was all that I needed, however, no matter how much I google, I can't find a decent example on how to populate (for add/edit/modify) the results of a single table query into a DataGridView1. Most samples talk about ASP.NET which I lack, this is WinForms. Any ideas? I've came across other posts and the GetNewBindingList, but that doesn't seem to change much.   I am building a form that needs to accept characters encoded in SHIFT_JIS and then send those results via email to a recipient. I've tried to simply capture the results from the $_POST variable and then to insert them into a block of text like this: $contents = <<<TEST Name: $NameJp ... TEST but that doesn't appear to work (which doesn't really surprise me). This is my first attempt at dealing with non-ASCII characters in PHP and I am hoping that people might have some suggestions. Perhaps I am missing a simple function to encode the text. Also, are there any other potential pitfalls that I might encounter? Thanks.

• PHP e-commerce site talking to internal database for stock / ordering?

I'm working on an e-commerce site (either bespoke with PHP, or using Drupal/Ubercart), and I'd like to investigate the site interacting with an internal (filemaker) database we use to manage stock and orders. Currently we manually transfer orders from the web site to our own database, and the site does not check or record changes in stock. My plan to allow the 2 to interact is as follows: Make the internal database available externaly on a machine with a fixed IP Allow external access from the site only Connect to the internal database using ODBC (or similar) Use simple queries to check stock / record stock changes / record order details Am I missing something here as this sounds quite straight forward?   I have 3 TextReaders -- a combination of StreamReaders and StringReaders. Conceptually, the concatenation of them is a single text document. I want to call a method (not under my control) that takes a single TextReader. Is there any built-in or easy way to make a concatenating TextReader from multiple TextReaders? (I could write my own TextReader subclass, but it looks like a fair amount of work. In that case, I'd just write them all out to a temp file and then open it with a single StreamReader.) Is there an easy solution to this that I'm missing?

• Google Analytics--My second profile to an existing domain not tracking

  Hey Guys, I created a second profile to my Analytics account to track SEO keywords. This is a second profile for my existing working domain. It has been 4 days and I still do not see any traffic on this secondary profile. The profile shows a Staus of "Unknown". But I do not see a way to validate it like you have to when you create your first profile and this should not be necessary for a profile to my existing domain. Any ideas what I am missing? Thanks!

  Anyone know of some good gems or plugins to create dynamic / ajax crud interfaces for Rails 3 projects? I know active scaffold was popular before and it's been awhile since I have used it / any other gems similar to this (I usually just write it myself). I like the direction that the formtastic gem (http://github.com/justinfrench/formtastic) is headed and wonder what else people are combining with it. Also I like the generators approach that Ryan Bates uses and he appears to be making updates for Rails 3. Anything else I am missing here? (I am also open to gems not compatible with Rails 3 too I guess, I can always make a contribution and try to help them get to the next phase. ;)) PS - Really stackoverflow, only one hyperlink?? lame.

  I have the following problem. I have a Java project in my NetBeans IDE 6.8. When I compile it and it produces a .jar file containing everything possible, the META-INF is not right. It doesn't contain the class to be executed - with main() method. When I click the Run button inside the IDE, everything works. The settings of the project are also set the right way - pointing to a class in my project. I tried adding a folder META-INF with manifest file but I didn't manage. Is there a way to do this manually in NetBeans, because I found that if I add the missing Main class in the manifest, everything works.

• Performance of DirectX and Recent Windows Mobile Version

  I'm seeing very poor performance while using the managed DirectDraw wrappers for WindowsMobile. Microsoft.WindowsMobile.DirectX.Direct3D I would appear the biggest bottle neck is calling Device.Present() after building up the scene. When using the System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch and running this very trivial exmaple Using Sprites on MSDN I'm seeing it's taking approximately 150ms to call the Device.Present() method. I'm seeing this on my AT&T Tilt and on the emulator. In larger applications such as the UltimateGMan sample it's taking over a second to call this method. Does anyone have any experience with using DirectX on mobile devices? What am I missing? I would prefer to stay in the managed world but if I drop back into C++ would I see better performance?

• Optimizing an iphone app for 3G in landscape with opengl, camera, quartz

  I have an iphone app that basically uses the camera, an opengl layer, and UIViews (some drawing with Quartz). It runs ok on 3GS, but on the 3G it is unusable. Particularly, when I press a UIButton, it literally takes sometimes 10 seconds to register the press. Shark doesn't do me much good because it crashes when I try to profile even a tiny portion, and I've tried turning off some of the layers to see if they might be obvious contributors to the lag. I've noticed that turning off the camera really helps. I'm wondering if anyone has any familiarity with this and might suggest some likely causes. I had issues with extreme slowdown from running my app in landscape mode and using transforms, so considered that might be a cause, but I'm wondering if hoping for a 3G to run something with all of the above elements is just not really possible considering the camera seems to really cost a lot. The fact that the buttons are horribly delayed in their response makes me think there is something fundamental that I might be missing.

One for those that match, and one for the others - without having to filter twice. Am I missing a jQuery function that does this? P.S.: I guess I could do: $("some selector").each(function() { // determine result... if (result) /* do something */ else /* do something else */ }); But I was hoping for something nicer.
