• [iPhone] Play video not in full screen mode

  Hello, First, excuse my english :) I've read on apple developer website that video playback provides by the framework supports only full screen mode. I will need to develop an application where video can be played in reduce screen mode. I've see that Orange TV make something which looks like what i need to do. http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/1228/tvplayerorange.jpg The application is available on app store but you need to have a subscription to test this application. Whatever, to resume it, we can see video (tv stream video) in a reduce mode and if we click on the screen it switch to a full screen mode. So my question, what i want to do is possible (Orange TV made it) but i wonder the difficulty to make it. It seems that I have to make a video player. If it take a bunch of time, I tkink I will use Media Player Framework of iPhone even isn't the optimal solution for me. Feel free to ask me more details ;) Thank you for your answers.

  Hey, I am trying to redirect a page to another page, and that was working successfully. However I am trying to redirect the first page to another page with adverts. This page will then redirect to another page after five seconds. • Cannot serialize this List<T> extension

  I'm trying to push a subset of a collection of data through WCF to be consumed by WCF - think paged data. As such, I want this collection to have one page's worth of data as well as a total number of results. I figured this should be trivial by creating a custom object that extends List. However, everything I do results in my TotalNumber property coming across as 0. All of the data gets serialized/deserialized just fine but that single integer won't come across at all. • Provider not notified from cookbook_file

  I'm working on an ssl provider using Vagrant (1.0.5) and chef-solo (10.12.0) I have my provider, called ssl within a cookbook called gtm_cq, I define it as such in my cookbook's default recipe: gtm_cq_ssl "author" do # attributes will come later end I then have my cookbook_file like below that should notify my ssl provider's import action once it pushes the cert up to the server: cookbook_file "#{node[:cq][:ssl][:author_cert_location]}/foo.cer" do source "foo.cer" owner "crx" group "root" mode "0644" notifies :import, resources(:gtm_cq_ssl => "author") end When I run this, the foo.cer gets pushed up as expected, but the import action of my ssl provider is never called. The most I see of any reference is these couple of lines in the log (removed log headers): .. cookbook_file[/opt/cq5/author/foo.cer] sending import action to gtm_cq_ssl[author] (delayed) .. Processing gtm_cq_ssl[author] action import (gtm_cq::author line 34) There's a large very obvious log statement as well as the use of another cookbook_file for a test file to push something up to the server. No log statement, no test file pushed. I'm certain too that the foo.cer file is removed from the server before each test. I found that if I edit my notifies line like so with :immediately notifies :import, resources(:gtm_cq_ssl => "author"), :immediately It seems to work. And I suppose this is ok in my particular case, but it would seem something is not right if that's the only way I can call my provider. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

• General web service ideas

  I have a question regarding different types of web services. I'll preface this by saying that I have built a number of apps (for both ios and android) for personal use that interact with the web via php and sql. I have taught myself these languages, and as such don't have the broader background knowledge that many of you do. My question is, in what other ways can you perform an interaction between a web service and a mobile device other than mobile - php - sql - etc. For example, If I built a very simple tracking app for my car, my current method would be to push GPS coordinates from my iphone to my database at a set interval, then I would write a simple bit of javascript that pulled those coordinates out of the database and superimposed them on a google map. Is there a different way to do this? Such as the server acting as a live middle man who simple pushed the coordinates directly to a target browser? Without the database in the middle? If so, are there advantages and disadvantages to these different methods to achieve different goals? I know its a broad question but I'm really intrigued and I'm finding it difficult to word a google search for it. Any info / reading material suggesting would be excellent. Thanks

• Sort ranges in an array in google apps script

  I have a timesheet spreadsheet for our company and I need to sort the employees by each timesheet block (15 rows by 20 columns). I have the following code which I had help with, but the array quits sorting once it comes to a block without an employee name (I would like these to be shuffled to the bottom). Another complication I am having is there are numerous formulas in these cells and when I run it as is, it removes them. I would like to keep these intact if at all possible. • Are vector assignments copied by value or by reference in Google's Go language?

  In the following code, I create one peg puzzle then do a move on it which adds a move to its movesAlreadyDone vector. Then I create another peg puzzle then do a move on it which adds a move to its movesAlreadyDone vector. When I print out the values in that vector for the second one, it has the move in it from the first one along with the move from the second one. Can anyone tell me why it seems to be assigning by reference and not value? • ActionScript 3.0 Color Output Error?

  I'm employing color in a current AS3 project, and have come across what appears to be an error in the Flash Player (version 10). it might also be an error with Apple's DigitalColor Meter (version 3.7.2), which is what i'm using to sample the displayed colors on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (version 10.6.3). //Primary, secondary, and tertiary colors of the RGB color wheel var red:Number = 0xFF0000; var orange:Number = 0xFF7D00; var yellow:Number = 0xFFFF00; var chartreuse:Number = 0x7DFF00; var green:Number = 0x00FF00; var spring:Number = 0x00FF7D; var cyan:Number = 0x00FFFF; var azure:Number = 0x007DFF; //reads 0x0077FF var blue:Number = 0x0000FF; var violet:Number = 0x7D00FF; var magenta:Number = 0xFF00FF; //reads 0xFF00F8 var rose:Number = 0xFF007D; //reads 0xFF0077 all of these colors display normally except for 3: Azure, Magenta and Rose. they are coded with the appropriate number, but when i use the color meter to sample the displayed colors, those 3 return inaccurate results. anyone have any insight about this issue? what is causing the error, the Flash runtime or the color sampler? if it's the Flash player, could this problem be much deeper? *sampling this image will return inaccurate results due to .jpg compression. it's simply for illustration

• Has anyone ever had OpenCV work with Python 2.7 on MacOS 10.6?

  I've been trying on and off for the past 6 months to get OpenCV to work with Python on MacOS. Every time there's a new release, I try again and fail. I've tried both 64-bit and 32-bit, and both the xcode gcc and gcc installed via macports. I just spend the past two days on it, hopeful that the latest OpenCV release, that appears to include Python support directly would work. It doesn't. I've also tried and failed to use this: http://code.google.com/p/pyopencv/ I've been using OpenCV with C++ or Microsoft C++/CLI for the past few years, but I'd love to use it with Python on a Mac because that is my primary development environment. I'd love to hear from anyone who's actually been able to get the opencv python examples to run under Mac OS 10.6, either 32 or 64-bit. My last attempt was to follow the instructions on this page http://recursive-design.com/blog/2010/12/14/face-detection-with-osx-and-python/ with a clean, fresh install of 10.6 on a 64-bit capable Mac. My PYTHONPATH is set, and I can see the cv library in it. But an "import cv" from python fails. Previously, the closest I've ever gotten (again, staring on a clean, fresh 10.6 install) was this: Python 2.7.1 (r271:86882M, Nov 30 2010, 10:35:34) [GCC 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5664)] on darwin Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> import cv Fatal Python error: Interpreter not initialized (version mismatch?) • Newbie - eclipse workflow (PHP development)

  Hi all - this is a bit of a newbie question but hoping I can get some guidance. I've been playing around with Eclipse for a couple months yet I'm still not completely comfortable with my setup and it seems like every time I install it to a new system I end up with different results. What I'm hoping to achieve is (I think) fairly standard. In my environment I'd like SVN (currently using Subclipse), FTP support (currently using Aptana plugin), debugging (going to use XDebug) and all the usual bells and whistles of development (code completion, refactoring, etc.) My biggest current issue is how to set up my environment to support both a 'development' and 'production' server. Optimally I would be able to work directly against the dev server (Eclipse on my Vista desktop against the VM Ubuntu dev server) and then push to production server (shared hosting). I'd prefer to work directly against the dev server (with no local project files, just using the Connections provided by Aptana) but I'm guessing this won't allow for code-completoin or all the other bells and whistles provided for development. Any thoughts? Kind of an open ended question, but maybe this could be an opportunity for some of you with a great deal of experience using Eclipse to describe your setups so people like me can get some insight into good ways to get set up.

• How can I read a continuously updating log file in Perl?

  I have a application generating logs in every 5 sec. The logs are in below format. 11:13:49.250,interface,0,RX,0 11:13:49.250,interface,0,TX,0 11:13:49.250,interface,1,close,0 11:13:49.250,interface,4,error,593 11:13:49.250,interface,4,idle,2994215 and so on for other interfaces... I am working to convert these into below CSV format: Time,interface.RX,interface.TX,interface.close.... 11:13:49,0,0,0,.... Simple as of now but the problem is, I have to get the data in CSV format online, i.e as soon the log file updated the CSV should also be updated.   I'm trying to parse an Apple plist file and I need to get an array Node within it. Unfortunately its only unique identifier is sibling Node right before it, <key>ProvisionedDevices</key>. Otherwise, only single-buffered pixel formats are considered Regarding Color: if NSOpenGLPFAColorSize is 24 and NSOpenGLPFAColorSize is 8 then it means that alpha and RGB components are treated differently? what happen if I set the former to 32 and the later to 0?   I am using the SAX parser in java. I am not sure: 1) What classes I need for this kind of situation? • localhost + staging + production environments?

  Hello, I have a website say www.livesite.com which is currently running. I have been developing a new version of the website on my local machine with http://localhost and then committing my changes with svn to www.testsite.com where I would test the site on the livesite.com server but under another domain (its the same environment as the live site but under a different domain). Now I am ready to release the new version to livesite.com. Doing it the first time is easy, I could just copy & paste everything from testsite.com to livesite.com (not sure its the best way to do it). I want to keep testsite.com as a testing site where I would push updates, test them and once satisfied move to livesite.com but I am not sure how to do that after the new site is launched.. I don't think copy pasting the whole directory is the right way of doing it and it will break the operations of current users on the livesite.com. I also want to keep my svn history on testsite.com. What is the correct way of doing this with SVN ? Thank you so much!

• splice() not working on correctly

  I am setting a cookie for each navigation container that is clicked on. It sets an array that is joined and set the cookie value. if its clicked again then its removed from the array. It somehow buggy. It only splices after clicking on other elements. and then it behaves weird. I create a new instance from "FirstViewController" this way: multiPicker *multiPic = [[multiPicker alloc]init]; multiPic.delegate = self; [multiPic action:aRunIndex]; And inside "multiPicker", in "action:" UIActionSheet *actionSheet = [[UIActionSheet alloc] initWithTitle:title delegate:otroDelegate cancelButtonTitle:nil destructiveButtonTitle:@"Cancel" otherButtonTitles:@"Done", nil]; UIPickerView *pickerView = [[[UIPickerView alloc] init] autorelease]; pickerView.tag = 101; pickerView.delegate = self; pickerView.dataSource = self; pickerView.showsSelectionIndicator = YES; [actionSheet addSubview:pickerView]; [actionSheet showInView:self.view]; I need "FirstViewController" when MultiPicker finishes, so I can update a table in FirstView. I tried setting a new delegate to MultiPicker so, it tells FirstView when it finishes. But the instruction "multipic.delegate = self" in the first piece of code mades the app crash and says "Terminating due to uncaught exception". If I simply put all "MultiPicker" code inside FirstViewController class, not in a separate one, the action sheet stay blocked when I try to push a button different from "Cancel" Any idea? Thank u

• Panel in Windows Forms Application not clearing

  I'm working on my project: [Beer Pong Management System][1], a Windows Forms application. I am currently trying to add a whole tournament mode to it. In a nutshell, I've created a TabControl, with the first tab page with the settings and setup and the second page the brackets. There is a feature for each of the match-ups, that once there is a winner is decided, a yellow cancel button will appear in order to revert the tournament. However my issue is when i click the button the next match-up does not get removed in the series is going. See below: Image Here(not high enough rep to insert image) I have tried to set the MatchUp to null, I've tried dispose(), close(). even Parent.Controls.Remove(). Even after I switch tabs which is supposed to clear all, they still sit there when i come back. I have a feeling I might be loosing a reference or something because I can't even push new teams into them, they just sit there with their buttons. • Is Safari on iOS 6 caching $.ajax results?

  Since the upgrade to iOS 6, we are seeing Safari's web view take the liberty of caching $.ajax calls. This is in the context of a PhoneGap application so it is using the Safari WebView. Our $.ajax calls are POST methods and we have cache set to false {cache:false}, but still this is happening. We tried manually adding a timestamp to the headers but it did not help. We did more research and found that Safari is only returning cached results for web services that have a function signature that is static and does not change from call to call. For instance, imagine a function called something like: getNewRecordID(intRecordType) This function receives the same input parameters over and over again, but the data it returns should be different every time. Must be in Apple's haste to make iOS 6 zip along impressively they got too happy with the cache settings. Has anyone else seen this behavior on iOS 6? If so, what exactly is causing it? The workaround that we found was to modify the function signature to be something like this: getNewRecordID(intRecordType, strTimestamp) and then always pass in a timestamp parameter as well, and just discard that value on the server side. This works around the issue. I hope this helps some other poor soul who spends 15 hours on this issue like I did!

• How important is the website logo on a page?

  I have stopped to insert "img" tags for the logo of the page. Because its not an image that is part of the content, its a design element but its still a information I want to have control over. So I just write the title in a "a" element as display: block, overflow: hidden and I push the text out with some padding. I think thats a good solution for SEO because you are keeping control of how important the logo should be on a page. But now my dilemma is starting. How important is the logo of a page? "A list apart" puts the logo in a h1 element. But is the logo really that important? On article pages you have two H1 elements (the logo and the title of the article) Most of the sites just use a img balbal /a, but I don't like this solution. Because I just want to use img for images that are part of the content... Its kinda philosophical question, I hope you can give me some input or some articles to read about that...
