    I am making a PHP web Application in which i am using MySQL as database server, i want to make backup of some tables from one database to another database(with that tables in it). i have created two different connection, but the table is not updated. $dbcon1 = mysql_connect(DB_SERVER,DB_USER,DB_PASSWORD) or die(mysql_error()); $dbase1 = mysql_select_db(TEMP_DB_NAME,$dbcon)or die(mysql_error()); $query1=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM emp"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($query1, MYSQL_NUM)) { $dbcon2 = mysql_connect(DB_SERVER,DB_USER,DB_PASSWORD) or die(mysql_error()); $dbase2 = mysql_select_db(TEMP_DB_NAME2,$dbcon)or die(mysql_error()); mysql_query("INSERT INTO backup_emp VALUES(null,'$row[1]',$row[2])"); mysql_close($dbcon2); } the code above is taking the data of emp from first database, and updataing it into another backup_emp table of another database. the code is not working properly, is there any other way of doing this...please help.

    Consider a grocery store scenario (I'm making this up) where you have FACT records that represent a sale transaction, where the columns of the Fact table include SaleItemFact Table ------------------ CustomerID ProductID Price DistributorID DateOfSale Etc Etc Etc Even if there are duplicates in the table when you consider ALL the keys, I would contend that a surrogate running numeric key (i.e. identity column) should be made up, e.g., TransactionNumber of type Integer. I can see someone arguing that a Fact table might not have a unique key (though I'd invent one and waste the 4 bytes, but how about a dimension table?

    Hi- I have two different schemas in Oracle (say S1, S2). And two tables in those schemas(say S1.Table1, S2.Table2). I want to query these two tables from schema S1. Both S1 and S2 are in different databases. From DB1 - Schema S1, I want to do something like this, select T1.Id from S1.Table1 T1 , S2.Table2 T2 Where T1.Id = T2.refId I know one way of doing this would be creating a DB Link for the second schema and use it in querying. But sadly, I don't have priv to create DB link. Is there some way to do without DB link, like, in TOAD, you can compare two schema objects. But again, two schema objects and it is general comparision. Not like querying them. Any ideas, suggestions are greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance.

    I have a school assignment, a Dog Show. My assignment is to create a website where vistors can display results and Judges and Secretary can admin, crud. I have a small problem one part of the assignment. The result should be based on two protokols from different judges and after that checked by the secretary before the result is displayed for the user. I have to say i'm fairly new to programming and so i need some smart suggestions on how to design and implement this. The assignment should cover both a db and c# (.net mvc).     I am stuck between row vs colunms table design for storing some items but the decision is which table is easier to manage and if colunms then how many colunms are best to have? For example I have object meta data, ideally there are 45 pieces of information (after being normalized) on the same level that i need to store per object. So is 45 colunms in a heavry read/write table good? Can it work flawless in a real world situation of heavy concurrent read/writes?

    I'm using a sqlite db which is very convenient and seems to meet all of my needs at this point. Currently my db size is <50MB, but I now need to add a new table which will store large text blobs, which will cause the db to reach up to 5GB within the next year. Would sqlite be able to deal with a 5GB db size? Any caveats to that, compared with say mysql?

    I just installed MySql on windows 7 ... issue is i'm unable to get multiple connection to MySql . If I connect with command line than i'm unable to connect through any other client and vice versa. Previously I was using same version of MySql i.e. 5.1 on vista and it was working fine.

  • MySQL Throws NullReferenceException in Finalize... How are you coping with this?

    I am using MySQL with the .Net connector on 64 bit Windows. For some reason Mysql is throwing a NullReferenceException in Finalize. This is the problem here and it seems that its due to a bug described here. This bug was reported in 6.22, but I am getting the issue with 6.23 too so apparently it is not fixed. I am using MySQL both with the helper classes, and by instantiating the connection and the Mysqlcommand object. Does anybody have any idea what part of my code do I need to change to fix this issue? Cause even though this is a bug in Mysql this is not universal because I am not getting the problem in my other projects. MySQL bug report has no details on how to reproduce it either. Any suggestions?

What I am expecting is a table that looks like the following however I cannot seem to come up with the correct SQL. The only information I will have is the source that I am curious about. I also only want the cats that have a status of either STRAY or UNKNOWN (null)

    The problem: let's say I have two tables Client, and Product, in which Client has its primary key and a column called products (that points to pk's in Product table)... ok, if I need products to point only one row, it's nice, but if I need it to point for... 1000 rows in Product table, the products column would have to be larger enought... but I can't predict this situation. So, how could I design my table and how would I use hibernate with it, to achieve that "pointing" in a optmized and maybe "easy" way. NOTE: I excluded some columns of the "design" presented here, just to keep the simplicity.

  • Adding Postgres table cells based on same value

    I have a table called expenses. There are numerous columns but the ones involved in my php page are date, spplierinv, amount. I have created a page that lists all the expenses in a given month and totals it at the end. However, each row has a value, but many rows might be on the same supplier invoice.This means adding each row with the same supplierinv to get a total as per my bank statement. Is there anyway I can get a total for the rows based on the supplierinv. I mean say I have 10 rows. 5 on supplierinv 4, two on supplierinv 5 and 3 on supplierinv 12, how can a get 3 figures (inv 4, 5 and 12) and the grand total at the bottom. Many thanks

    Hi everyone, I would like to use entity objects but not store them... I read that I could create them like this: myElement = (Element *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"Element" inManagedObjectContext:managedObjectContext]; And right after that remove them: [managedObjectContext deleteObject:myElement]; then I can use my elements: myElement.property1 = @"Hello"; This works pretty well even though I think this is probably not the most optimal way to do it... Then I try to use it in my UITableView... the problem is that the object get released after the initialization. My table becomes empty when I move it! Thanks edit: I've also tried to copy the element ([myElement copy]) but I get an error...

The only solid fact about them is that they all have a mobile column with a standard format. The CSV can have an arbitrary amount of columns with an arbitrary amount of rows. They can (with no exaggeration) range from a single row, 35 column csv to an 80k row single column CSV. I am open to other ideas. – Hailwood There are many solutions for this, from attribute-value schemas to JSON storage and NoSQL storage. Open a new question about it. Whatever you do though, don't dynamically create tables! – deceze Question: So my question is, What would you say is the best way to store this data?
