I have one rule that opens FTP port for all connections.
I have second rule that blocks ALL connections on ALL protocols for some IP's.
However, connections from those IP's that are blocked can still connect to FTP port because that rule obviously takes preccedence.
How can I make this work, because I do not see how can I adjust order of…
On Windows7, dir or tree can't show unicode characters, even starting cmd with cmd /U
So I would press Window Key + R to run something, and type in cmd /U so that the content might handle Unicode.
And then using dir or tree /F, the content in Unicode won't show as Unicode. (in Window Explorer (file manager), the Unicode will show)

i have windows7 x64 and ubuntu 10.04 installed on my machine. while i download at ~15 MiB/sec in ubuntu (reaches almost at an instant), it takes almost a minute or two for win7 to reach that speed while downloading -say- a film. also the connection becomes unresponsive for some time periods in win7. i experienced this in several win7…
For a Windows domain, is there a way to see for a certain user or group, where the user/group has permissions?
Primarily: List which files / folders the user can access on a certain network share.
(Kind of a recursive "effective permissions")
However, other permissions would be cool as well.
I believe I've seen such a tool in…

I have a program that automatically copies files to a directory, and if it creates a duplicate it will name it like so:
file with duplicate.xxx
file with duplicate - 1.xxx
file with duplicate - 2.xxx
I need a way to delete all the duplicates with a windows batch file.
Something along the lines of:
FOR %f IN (C:\files\*.*) DO…
Is it possible to configure dhcpd (on a Linux box) to assign a Windows PC 2 separate IP configurations? Right now I've configured the two IP addresses manually and it does exactly what's needed, but I can't figure out how to achieve the same thing with DHCP.
For example, is it possible to set up a virtual interface that…

I'm trying to understand how and if it is possible to list the installed applications of Windows clients via Microsoft SMS (System Management Server). What I can find it's only VB script snippet code to get the installed applications onto the client machine, but I don't know how SMS could aggregate these data.
Could…
I upgraded to Windows7 on a PC that is a few years old. The CPU was one revision away from having Hyper-V on it. So, I had to install Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 (v6.0.156.0) to run full XP instances instead of the seamless XP virtualization that is advertised so much. That's fine though; the 'older' version is useful…
Hello, I am using visual studio 2010 on Windows7 64bit.
I compiled and ran a simple application basically a thing a child could make. Well the second it started to run, it froze my computer and rendered it unresponsive. It continues to do this every time and for every application.
Any ideas why this is happening?
I have a directory, that contains ~ 3 million files in certain subdirectories on a Windows 2008 server. Manually deleting the files via SHIFT+DEL on the root dir takes ages. Is there any other way to do the deletion in a faster manner?
Our network of Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 servers suddenly hasDNS issues. There are 7 DCs. Two at our main office and one each at branch sites (one branch has two a 2008R2 and WIN2K3) Only two are WIN2008R2
Running DCDIAG on the WIN2K3 at main site (DC1) reports no issues. Running at any branch site reports two…
I have a Windows 2003 Server that I want to migrate to new hardware. All the setup and configuration was done by my predecessor. Right now I'm in a real time crunch and I just want to copy all the files and settings to the new machine. Is there an easy way to do this or do I need to manually copy all the files and…
I'd like to make a backup/image of my machine, so that I may install it if i ever need to.
What I mean by image is a snapshot of all of my programs, settings, files, everything, i think this is referred to as a ghost image.
I want to be able to restore so I do not have to reinstall everything again.
Does the…
Any commercial or free software to give me a list and descriptions of patch uninstalls and let me remove selected ones?

I noticed that if I transfer a few LARGE files between two hard drives, it's pretty speedy around at least 30 MB per second but if I transfer thousands of files less than 5 KB, it is pretty damn too slow.. around 1 to 2 MB per second.
Is there a way to speed up the copy/paste process with thousands of…
