• How to represent a list of points in R

  I am working with a large list of points (each point has three dimensions x,y,z). I am pretty new with R, so I would like to know what is the best way to represent that kind of information. As far as I know, an array allows me to represent any multidimensional data, so currently I am using: > points<-array( c(1,2,0,1,3,0,2,4,0,2,5,0,2,7,0,3,8,0), dim=c(3,6) ) > points [,1] [,2] [,3] [,4] [,5] [,6] [1,] 1 1 2 2 2 3 -- x dim [2,] 2 3 4 5 7 8 -- y dim [3,] 0 0 0 0 0 0 -- z dim The aim is to perform some computations to calculate the euclidean distance between two sets of points (any hint in this sense would also be highly appreciated)

• Separating MySQL SELECT statement based on data in a column

  Hi everyone, I need to retrieve data (vehicle details, in this case) from a MySQL table tabled and then loop through the results to generate separate lists for each category of vehicle. Is there a simple way to do this without having to have a SELECT statement for each type of vehicle?   I ran into following situation and I am wondering about best solution. Let's say I have List<Object1> and List<Object2>, these lists are result of two separated queries. Both of them have the same size and there is relationship 1:1 between elements in the lists based on ID. I know that best solution would be fetching data in one DB query but that's possible right now. So my question is, what is the best way to join these lists into let's say List<Object3>?

• jquery ajax call: multiple links load data into one div

  I have a dynamically generated list of links. Each link will request a different page to load. Depending on the link clicked I want it to fill the div with an ajax .load call. The thing is I want all links to reset and fill the same div. I am having trouble doing this without making a seperate div for each link, which isn't what I'm looking for. • Handling missing data

  Say I have a simple helpdesk application which logs calls made by users. I would typically have such fields in a table relating to the call e.g. CallID, Description, CustomerID etc. I Would also have a table of customers including CustomerID, Username, Password, FullName etc. Now when a user is deleted from the customers table then the inner join between the calls table and the users table to find out historically which user logged a call would produce no results. How do people usually deal with this? Have seperate customer and useraccount tables Just disable the accounts so the data is still available Record the customers name in the calls table as a seperate field. or any other methods / suggestions?

  Hello, I am wondering how exactly can i order my date nicely in a stringbuilder? Meaning something equal to ("{0,2}", ....) to space the data nicely out. I do not want to use consolewrites of any kind, so the class can be re-used in a form, console code etc... Currently i am using " " for the spacing, but in overall it does not give a proper display.   I have a number of columns that I would like to drop from a data frame. I know that we can drop them using something like: df$x <- NULL but I was hoping to do this with less commands. Also, I know that I could use this: df[ -c(1,3:6, 12) ] but I am concerned that the relative position of my variables may change.   Core Data is calling these methods in certain situations: - (BOOL)validateForInsert:(NSError **)outError; - (BOOL)validateForUpdate:(NSError **)outError; - (BOOL)validateForDelete:(NSError **)outError; I wonder if they're doing anything different, or if they're essentially doing the exact same things. As far as I know, these methods call the -validateValue:forKey:error: method once for every property. The only difference I can imagine is in the .validateForDelete: method. I see no reason why to validate an object when it shall be deleted, except for applying delete rules, probably only in the case of the DENY rule.

  I'm trying to design a system similar to the traditional server monitoring systems like MOM, Tivoli, Open View, where an agent will record data and then upload it to a central database once a day, but them also be able to send immediate alerts back to the server. I'm not sure what the best methodology might be for this. I've started looking at Microsoft sync services but I'm not sure if it will fit my needs. I'm using VS2008 and C#.   I want to cache data in a java web application deployed on multiple instances. We are using spring 2.5.6. What is the easiest caching library to configure and use with spring? I have heard of EH Cache, but the configuration is too cumbersome. The requirement is that a spring scheduler will run and set some flags. These flags are accessible from all load balanced instances. But since the scheduler runs only on one instance the flag is set only on that jvm. So how do i make these updated flag values available to all load balanced instances?

  Hi, I have to create a very simple webpage to show, filter and add data from not-yet-defined source (probably txt/xml/cvs). Records should be visible as a table, filtered using 3 criteria fields. There should be also possibility to add new records. My first thought was: XHTML + jQuery + csv2table + PicNet Table Filter. It does exactly what I want except adding rows - that is saving changes in source file (probably due to security risk). My question is - is there any possibility to do it without involving server side like asp.net, jee, php, sql? Source file is located on the server. Thanks for your ideas :-)

  I want to represent a graph in Haskell in the following manner: For each node I want to store it's value and a list of adjacent nodes,the problem which i'm having difficulties with is that I want the adjacent nodes to be stored as references to other nodes.   This question is a continuation of this thread: In short: To solve my problem, I want to use Map<Set<String>, String>. However, after I sort my data entries in Excel, remove the unnecessary parameters, and the following came out: flow content ==> content content flow content ==> content depth distance flow content ==> content depth within flow content ==> content depth within distance flow content ==> content within flow content ==> content within distance I have more than one unique key for the hashmap if that is the case. How do I go around this... anyone have any idea? I was thinking of maybe Map<Set <String>, List <String>> so that I can do something like: Set <flow content>, List <'content content','content depth distance','content depth within ', ..., 'content within distance'> But because I am parsing the entries line by line I can't figure out the way how to store values of the same repeated keys (flow content) into the same list and add it to the map. Anyone have a rough logic on how can this be done in Java? Thanks in advance.
