  • lightweight search engine for asp.net

    - by Michael
I'm looking to develop a CMS project based on UMBRACO but I also need to index the documents created and to offer search functionality therefore I would like to know if you have any suggestion for a lightweight search engine available in .net technology. The main requirement is to be simple and efficient (nothing complex like solr or sphinx ).

  • Use textbox value on submit as a query string variable

    - by Eric
How would I take a text box value and use it in the query string on submit? I'd like it to start as this, /News?favorites=True and end up something like this after the user enters in a search and clicks search. /News?query=test&favorites=True The controller action looks like this public ActionResult Index(string query, bool favorites) { //search code } This question is something close to what I'd like to do, but I'd like to use the query string and maintain the existing values in the query string. Thanks.

  • Ignore deleted files in git?

    - by matthavener
Is it possible to ignore deleted files in git? git update-index --assume-unchanged allows me to ignore modifications, but it still tracks deletions. (This is similar, but I couldn't find where "John Doe" restated his question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/655243/ignore-modified-but-not-committed-files-in-git)

  • Is there a way to get direct_to_template to pass RequestContext in django?

    - by BigJason
I have found myself writing the same view over and over. It is basically this: def home_index(request): return render_to_response('home/index.html', RequestContext(request)) To keep with the dry principal, I would like to utilize a generic view. I have seen direct_to_template, but it passes an empty context. So how can I use a generic view and still get the power of RequestContext?

  • asp.net mvc 2 multithread

    - by Chris Cap
I'm getting some weird behavior in asp.net MVC2 (at least it's not what I'm expecting). I have a controller httppost action that processes credit cards. I'm setting a session variable on the server to let me know if a user has attempted to process a card. I clear that session variable when I'm done. I am doing some very quick posts to test the process and the session variable is coming back null everytime because I clear the session variable at the end of the process. I have some debug prints that show me that the all requests are processed synchronously. That is...the first attempt occurs, it fails, session variable is cleared, second attempt tries and fails and the variable is cleared, etc... My first thought was that this was a side effect of debugging and that it just lined requests up for debugging purposes using the local webserver. So I put it on a development server and the same thing is occurring. Multiple submits/posts are processed synchronously. I even put a System.Threading.Sleep in there to make sure it would stop right after I set the session variable and it still won't even START the second request until the first is done. Has anyone else seen this behavior? My understanding was that a worker process was spawned for each request and that these actions could happen asychronously. Here's some psuedo code if (Session["CardCharged"] != null) return RedirectToAction("Index", "Problem"); Session["CardCharged"] = false; //starting the process System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(10000); //charge card here if (!providerResponse.IsApproved) { System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("failed"); Session["CardCharged"] = null; //have to allow them to charge again since this failed return View(myModel); } Session["CardCharged"] = true; return RedirectToAction("Index", "OrderComplete"); I should mention that my code ALWAYS fails the credit card check for testing purposes. I'm trying to test the situation where processing is STILL occurring and redirect the user elsewhere. I have set a dummy session variable elsewhere to assure that the session id "sticks". So I know the session id is the same for each request. Thanks

  • Tumblr - Custom Domain Help.

    - by gabeaudick
I own the domain name, iamgabeaudick.com. It was my personal website, but I now want to use it as my tumblr domain. I've changed the DNS, and tumblr confirms that the domain is set up correctly. But when I access iamgabeaudick.com, a blank "Index of /" page appears. Any ideas why this is? Do I need to configure the ftp files in some way?

  • What data actually gets cached in InnoDB/MySQL?

    - by ming yeow
Hi folks, i am trying to optimize performance for my database. My question is - what get cached in the db memory? For example: (table with 2 columns: key (indexed), data (not indexed) updated (not indexed) Select * where updated=20100202 (the db will do a scan - will the scanned rows be kept in memory?) Select * where key = 20 (the db will refer to the index - will the identified rows be kept in memory?)

  • Mixing C and C++, raw pointers and (boost) shared pointers

    - by oompahloompah
I am working in C++ with some legacy C code. I have a data structure that (during initialisation), makes a copy of the structure pointed to a ptr passed to its initialisation pointer. Here is a simplification of what I am trying to do - hopefully, no important detail has been lost in the "simplification": /* C code */ typedef struct MyData { double * elems; unsigned int len; }; int NEW_mydata(MyData* data, unsigned int len) { // no error checking data->elems = (double *)calloc(len, sizeof(double)); return 0; } typedef struct Foo { MyData data data_; }; void InitFoo(Foo * foo, const MyData * the_data) { //alloc mem etc ... then assign the STRUCTURE foo.data_ = *thedata ; } C++ code ------------- typedef boost::shared_ptr<MyData> MyDataPtr; typedef std::map<std::string, MyDataPtr> Datamap; class FooWrapper { public: FooWrapper(const std::string& key) { MyDataPtr mdp = dmap[key]; InitFoo(&m_foo, const_cast<MyData*>((*mdp.get()))); } ~FooWrapper(); double get_element(unsigned int index ) const { return m_foo.elems[index]; } private: // non copyable, non-assignable FooWrapper(const FooWrapper&); FooWrapper& operator= (const FooWrapper&); Foo m_foo; }; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { MyData data1, data2; Datamap dmap; NEW_mydata(&data1, 10); data1->elems[0] = static_cast<double>(22/7); NEW_mydata(&data2, 42); data2->elems[0] = static_cast<double>(13/21); boost::shared_ptr d1(&data1), d2(&data2); dmap["data1"] = d1; dmap["data2"] = d2; FooWrapper fw("data1"); //expect 22/7, get something else (random number?) double ret fw.get_element(0); } Essentially, what I want to know is this: Is there any reason why the data retrieved from the map is different from the one stored in the map?

  • Is two-finger non-homerow touch-typing for programming acceptable?

    - by codebliss
I'm currently typing about 90 wpm (from http://speedtest.10-fast-fingers.com/ 90 correct 0 missed) using two fingers and the occasional ring or index. This probably grew from learning to type at an early age, before home-row was presented to me. Is this acceptable? Do people religiously endorse home-row even with low-mistake poking without looking at the keyboard?

  • How to return a const QString reference in case of failure?

    - by moala
Hi, consider the following code: const QString& MyClass::getID(int index) const { if (i < myArraySize && myArray[i]) { return myArray[i]->id; // id is a QString } else { return my_global_empty_qstring; // is a global empty QString } } How can I avoid to have an empty QString without changing the return type of the method? (It seems that returning an empty QString allocated on the stack is a bad idea) Thanks.

  • Unique view count.

    - by alokswain
I have a collection of links which are being displayed on the index page. Whenever a user clicks a link I want to keep a track of the number of unique views. I know it can be done by tracking the ips whenever a click happens by request.remote_ip and then the link of the page that was clicked. Is there any better approach ? Any plugins etc.

  • How to merge multiple arrays in pairs

    - by user3688059
I have a problem with "pairing" arrays into one (by index). Here is an example: INPUT: inputArray = [ [0, 1, 2, 3, 4], [2, 3, 5, 7, 8], [9, 6, 1] ] OUTPUT: outputArray = [ [0,2,9], [1,3,6], [2,5,1], [3,7,chooseRandom()], [4,8,chooseRandom()]] Questions: 1) How to avoid out of range problem 2) How to write chooseRandom() to choose N neighbour I'm using python but feel free to share your thoughts in any language.

  • Hint to MVC view generator for primary key on POCOs

    - by myotherme
When generating a strongly-typed Index view for my model I always get the following: <%= Html.ActionLink("Edit", "Edit", new { /* id=item.PrimaryKey */ }) %> I am using a POCO class for use with our ORM. As I understand it when using LINQ to SQL the view code will know which field is the primary key. Is there a way that I can an attribute to the property (or class) that will let the View Generator know that the ID property if the primary key?
