  • response.write only working IE for ASP.NET

    I'm using uploadify (http://www.uploadify.com/) to upload video to my site then convert them into *.flv using ffmpeg and play preview. But it dosen't fully working with firefox, chrome or safari. uploadify provides a onComplete interface, so when the script (.ashx, .php) used on your site for saving uploaded files. you can use response.write("blabla") or (echo "blabla") to invoke the javascript function that registed as OnComplete. i have test with few video files like avi, mpg, mp4, they are less then 50mb,and they all worked with all 4 browsers. However, when i was trying to upload a 75mb mp4 file, it worked in IE, but didn't working in other three. I can see the .flv file has been create in the upload folder, i can see debug messsage output after response.write("blabla"), but the javascript function was not invoked. i.e. the preview didn't play. anyone knows why? is there a timeout or something on response.write so after a period of time it wont work? e.g. 75mb file took longer time to convert than other smaller size file i tried. thansk

    OK, for the life of me I can't uderstand why the follwing code is always returning false??   • ASP.net MVC Linq-To-SQL Many-To-Many Field Binding

    Hi there, The short version of this question is "Is there a way to gracefully handle database insertion for an object that has a many-to-many field that has been set up in a partial class?" Apologies if it's been asked before. Example Suppose I have a typical MVC setup with the tables: Posts {PostID, ...} Categories {CategoryID, ...} A post can have more than one category, and a category can identify more than one post. Thus suppose further that I need an extra table: PostCategories {PostID, CategoryID, ...} This handles the many-to-many relationship between posts and categories. As far as I know, there's no way to do this in Linq-to-SQL right now so I have to shoehorn it in by adding a partial Post class to the project to add that functionality. Something like: public partial class Post { public IEnumerable<Category> Categories{ get { ... } set { ... } } } So I can now create a "Create" view that automatically populates a "Categories" UI item. This is where the trouble starts. So here's my question: How do you get automatic object model binding to work cleanly with an object that has a many-to-many relationship to control? The workaround that makes many-to-many relationships possible relies on the Post object having a PostID in order to be associated with CategoryID(s), which is only issued after the Post object has been submitted for validation and insertion. Bit of a Catch22 here. Any terminology, links, or tips you can provide would be tremendously helpful!

    Hi All, I want to use Validation Controls but I dont want them to show their Error Messages when invalid data exist. Instead I'm going to iterate through the validation controls and show error messages inside my little ErrorMessage Control for (int i = 0; i < Page.Validators.Count; i++) { if (!Page.Validators[i].IsValid) { divAlert.InnerText = Page.Validators[i].ErrorMessage; return false; } } I'm doing this because i have little space to show the error message. You can ask why are you using validation control if you dont want to show them My asnwer is "I use them for validation logic they handle" I looked the properties of the validation controls and cant find something that wil help me doing this. It generated .zip file along with files having extension " .deply.cmd", ".SetParameters.xml", ".SourceManifest.xml" and readme.txt, in Application (obj\Release\Package) folder My intension is to host the package on test server which has IIS6.0, Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 Edition service pack 2. It has .net 4.0. I tried by running the cmd file but its showed me an message as below: ERROR: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value. msdeploy.exe is not found on this machine. Please install Web Deploy before execute the script. any help pl....

  • url rewriting + Asp.Net Login Form = Death

    Hi, on our site we do url rewriting to generate massive amounts of database generated pages. on every page, there is a Login control for users. like this: Internal aspx page: /DB.aspx?id=123 User visible url: /ABC/123.aspx, /ABC/456.aspx ... (url rewritten) unfortunately, the tag on each page has an action attribute of "DB.aspx?id=123". when the user clicks the button the browser is posting to /ABC/DB.aspx?id=123 which of course does not exist. solutions i tried: 1. change the action attribute by subclassing HtmlForm. this destroys the all other forms on the site. 2. remove the action attribute (so that the browser is always posting to the same url). this works on the rewritten pages but on "/" (the default.aspx in the root dir) i get a message that the verb post is not allowed on "/" (iis 6 and i have no control over mappings) anybody?
