• Parsing language for both binary and character files

  The problem: You have some data and your program needs specified input. For example strings which are numbers. You are searching for a way to transform the original data in a format you need. And the problem is: The source can be anything. It can be XML, property lists, binary which contains the needed data deeply embedded in binary junk. And your output format may vary also: It can be number strings, float, doubles.... You don't want to program. You want routines which gives you commands capable to transform the data in a form you wish. Surely it contains regular expressions, but it is very good designed and it offers capabilities which are sometimes much more easier and more powerful. Something like a super-grep which you can access (!) as program routines, not only as tool. It allows: joining/grouping/merging of results inserting/deleting/finding/replacing write macros which allows to execute a command chain repeatedly meta-grouping (lists-tables-hypertables) Example (No, I am not looking for a solution to this, it is just an example): You want to read xml strings embedded in a binary file with variable length records. Your tool reads the record length and deletes the junk surrounding your text. Now it splits open the xml and extracts the strings. Being Indian number glyphs and containing decimal commas instead of decimal points, your tool transforms it into ASCII and replaces commas with points. Now the results must be stored into matrices of variable length....etc. etc. I am searching for a good language / language-design and if possible, an implementation. Which design do you like or even, if it does not fulfill the conditions, wouldn't you want to miss ? EDIT: The question is if a solution for the problem exists and if yes, which implementations are available. You DO NOT implement your own sorting algorithm if Quicksort, Mergesort and Heapsort is available. You DO NOT invent your own text parsing method if you have regular expressions. You DO NOT invent your own 3D language for graphics if OpenGL/Direct3D is available. There are existing solutions or at least papers describing the problem and giving suggestions. And there are people who may have worked and experienced such problems and who can give ideas and suggestions. The idea that this problem is totally new and I should work out and implement it myself without background knowledge seems for me, I must admit, totally off the mark.

  Dear all I have referred the following link: Silverlight for Windows Embedded By referring this link i created a demo application which consist of two buttons created using Microsoft expression blend 2 tools. And then written a code referring the above site. Now my button names are "Browser Button" and "Media Button". On click of any one of the button i should able to launch the respective application. I was able to do for "Browser Button" but not for "Media Button" and if i do for "Media Button" then i am not able to do for "Browser Button".. I mean to say that how should i create event handler for both the buttons. • How the simples GUI countdown is supposed to work?

  I am trying to write the simples GUI countdown. I found in Internet some code but it is already too fancy for me. I am trying to keep it as simple as possible. So, I just want to have a window saying "You have 10 second left". The number of second should decrease every second from 10 to 0. I wrote a code. And I think I am close to the working solution. But I still missing something. Could you pleas help me to find out what is wrong? • How can you make an emacs macro wait for cscope query results?

  I am trying to write a macro which calls cscope-find-functions-calling-this-function on each and every tag in a file displayed in the *Tags List* buffer (created by list-tags command). This should create a buffer which contains list of all functions calling a set of functions defined in a certain file. This is the sequence of keystrokes: 1. <f11> ;; cscope-find-functions-calling-this-function 2. RET ;; newline [shows results of cscope in a split window] 3. C-x C-p ;; mark-page 4. C-x C-x ;; icicle-exchange-point-and-mark 5. <up> ;; previous-line 6. <end> ;; end-of-line [region to copy has been marked] 7. <f7> ;; append-results-to-buffer 8. C-x ESC O ;; [move back to split window on the right] 9. C-x b ;; icicle-buffer [Switch back to *Tags List* buffer] 10. *Tags ;; self-insert-command * 5 11. SPC ;; self-insert-command 12. RET ;; newline 14 . <down> ;; next-line [Position point on next tag in the list] Problem: I get no results in the buffer, and I found out that's because Step 3-7 execute even before cscope prints the results of query made on Steps 1-2. I can insert a pause in the macro by using C-x q, but I'd rather like the macro to wait after Step 2, until cscope has returned with the results and only then continue further. I suspect this is not possible through a macro, maybe a LISP function... I'm not a lisp expert myself. Can someone please help? Thanks! Details: I have Icicles installed so by default I get word at point in current buffer as input in minibuffer. F11 is bound to cscope-find-functions-calling-this-function windmove is installed and C-x (C-x ESC o - as shown below) takes you to the right window. • service broker message process order

  Everywhere I read says that messages handled by the service broker are processed in the order that they arrive, and yet if you create a table, message type, contract, service etc , and on activation have a stored proc that waits for 2 seconds and inserts the msg into a table, set the max queue readers to 5 or 10, and send 20 odd messages I can see in the table that they are inserted out of order even though when I insert them into the queue and look at the contents of the queue I can see that the messages are all in the right order. Is it due to the delay waitfor waiting for the nearest second and each thread having different subsecond times and then fighting for a lock or something? • How do I get the next token in a Cstring if I want to use it as an int? (c++)

  My objective is to take directions from a user and eventually a text file to move a robot. Our T.A.'s expect us to google and find all the answers because they are aware we've never been taught these methods. Everyone in my lab is having much more trouble than usual. I don't know the code to write but I know what I want my program to do. I want it to execute like this: 1) Ask for directions. 2) cin.getline the users input 3) tokenize the inputed string 4) if the first word token == "forward" move to the next token and find out how many inches to move forward then move forward 5) else if the first token == "turn" move to the next token. if the next token == "left" move to the next token and find out how many degrees to turn left I will have to do this for forward x, backward x, turn left x, turn right x, and stop(where x is in inches or degrees). I already wrote functions that tell the robot how to move forward an inch and turn in degrees. I just need to know how to convert the inputted strings to all lowercase letters and move from token to token and convert or extract the numbers from the string to use them as integers.   I've a code to sort table using Jquery.I use toggle function to alternate clicks,and toggle beetween 'ascend' and 'descend' sort.Once you click header's table it should sort it contents. However,there's a bug: I click once,it sorts,then when i click again,nothing happens.I need to click again (second time) to execute the second function,and sort again. Toggle should switch functions with single clicks,not double,am i right? • Android: Creating custom class of resources

  Hi, R class on android has it's limitations. You can't use the resources dynamically for loading audio, pictures or whatever. If you wan't for example, load a set of audio files for a choosen object you can't do something like: R.raw."string-upon-choosen-object" I'm new to android and at least I didn't find how you could do that, depending on what objects are choosen or something more dynamic than that. So, I thought about making it dynamic with a little of memory overhead. But, I'm in doubt if it's worth it or just working different with external resources. The idea is this: Modify the ant build xml to execute my own task. This task, is a java program that parses the R.java file building a set of HashMaps with it's pair (key, value). I have done this manually and It's working good. So I need some experts voice about it. This is how I will manage the whole thing: Generate a base Application class, e.g. MainApplicationResources that builds up all the require methods and attributes. Then, you can access those methods invoking getApplication() and then the desired method. • Raphaeljs animation kills my browser

  I have this code where I have a made a character using 20 paths and put it into a set. Now when I animate the set, the first transformation runs smoothly, the second animation stutters, the third animation doesn't happen as it should and the 4th animation kills my pc, the browser hangs and in the task manager I can see that it consumes up to 70% of CPU. How can I avoid this and free the resources so all the animations run smoothly. *I have to execute 10 simple y-axis transformation animations on that character. • Tomcat JMX connection - Authentication failed.

  I am having some problems setting up Tomcat for JMX. I added the following properties to CATALINA_OPTS="-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=18070 -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.password.file=$CATALINA_BASE/conf/jmxremote.password -Dcom.sun .management.jmxremote.ssl=false" And have added the jmxremote.password file in to the conf directory. I wrote a client tool that connects to the JMX server running on port 18070. When i run the client program i get the following error. Exception in thread "main" java.lang.SecurityException: Authentication failed! I thought i had to configure the remote authentication if i access the JMX server remotely from a different machine. By remote access do they mean accessing the JMX server from any VM either locally or remotely?

  Okay, I'm having one of those moments that makes me question my ability to use a computer. This is not the sort of question I imagined asking as my first SO post, but here goes. Started on Zed's new "Learn Python the Hard Way" since I've been looking to get back into programming after a 10 year hiatus and python was always what I wanted. This book has really spoken to me. That being said, I'm having a serious issue with pydoc from the command. I've got all the directories in c:/python26 in my system path and I can execute pydoc from the command line just fine regardless of pwd - but it accepts no arguments. Doesn't matter what I type, I just get the standard pydoc output telling me the acceptable arguments. Any ideas? For what it's worth, I installed ActivePython as per Zed's suggestion. C:\Users\Chevee>pydoc file pydoc - the Python documentation tool pydoc.py <name> ... Show text documentation on something. <name> may be the name of a Python keyword, topic, function, module, or package, or a dotted reference to a class or function within a module or module in a package. If <name> contains a '\', it is used as the path to a Python source file to document. I've deployed this project into a single-server WLI domain (with AdminServer only) and it works as expected: the JPD process is invoked (I've configured a Timer Event Generator instance to start it up).   The stored procedure builds without any problem. The purpose of this is to take backup of selected tables to a script file. when the SP returns a value {Insert statements}. I am using the below MySql stored procedure, created by SQLWAYS [Tool to convert MsSql to MySql].   I've just begun to explore the PTL and have a design question. My Scenario: I have a list of URLs that each refer to an image. I want each image to be downloaded in parallel. As soon as at least one image is downloaded, I want to execute a method that does something with the downloaded image. That method should NOT be parallelized -- it should be serial. I think the following will work but I'm not sure if this is the right way to do it. Because I have separate classes for collecting the images and for doing "something" with the collected images, I end up passing around an array of Tasks which seems wrong since it exposes the inner workings of how images are retrieved. But I don't know a way around it. In reality there is more to both of these methods but that's not important for this. Just know that they really shouldn't be lumped into one large method that both retrieves and does something with the image. • How does the event dispatch thread work?

  With the help of people on stackoverflow I was able to get the following working code of the simples GUI countdown (it just displays a window counting down seconds). My main problem with this code is the invokeLater stuff. As far as I understand the invokeLater send a task to the event dispatching thread (EDT) and then the EDT execute this task whenever it "can" (whatever it means). Is it right? To my understanding the code works like that: In the main method we use invokeLater to show the window (showGUI method). In other words, the code displaying the window will be executed in the EDT. In the main method we also start the counter and the counter (by construction) is executed in another thread (so it is not in the event dispatching thread). Right? The counter is executed in a separate thread and periodically it calls updateGUI. The updateGUI is supposed to update GUI. And GUI is working in the EDT. So, updateGUI should also be executed in the EDT. It is why the code for the updateGUI is inclosed in the invokeLater. Is it right? What is not clear to me is why we call the counter from the EDT. Anyway it is not executed in the EDT. It starts immediately a new thread and the counter is executed there. • Building a QueryExpression where name field is either A or B

  I'm trying to build a Dynamics CRM 4 query so that I can get calendar events that are named either "Event A" or "Event B". A QueryByAttribute doesn't seem to do the job as I cannot specify a condition where the field called "event_name" = "Event A" of "event_name" = "Event B". When using the QueryExpression, I've found the FilterExpression applies to the Referencing Entity. I don't know if the FilterExpression can be used on the Referenced Entity at all. The example below is something like what I want to achieve, though this would return an empty result set as it will go looking in the entity called "my_event_response" for a "name" attribute. It's starting to look like I will need to run several queries to get this but this is less efficient than if I can submit it all at once. I want this activity entity to be associated with the contact entity. • Why wont my while loop take new input (c++)

  I've written a program to get a string input from a user and parse it into tokens and move a robot according to the input. My problem is trying to issue more than one command. The program outputs "Enter your directions below: " When I give the program instructions it executes them, and then it outputs "enter your directions below: " again and when I input my directions again it does not execute them and outputs "Enter your directions below: " instead. I'm sure this is a very simple fix I'm just very new to c++. So if you could please help me out and tell me why the program only takes the first set of directions. thanks
