    Say I have a list of integers: List<int> myInts = new List<int>() {1,2,3,5,8,13,21}; I would like to get the next available integer, ordered by increasing integer. Not the last or highest one, but in this case the next integer that is not in this list. In this case the number is 4. Is there a LINQ statement that would give me this? As in: var nextAvailable = myInts.SomeCoolLinqMethod(); Edit: Crap. I said the answer should be 2 but I meant 4. I apologize for that! For example: Imagine that you are responsible for handing out process IDs. You want to get the list of current process IDs, and issue a next one, but the next one should not just be the highest value plus one. Rather, it should be the next one available from an ordered list of process IDs. You could get the next available starting with the highest, it does not really matter.

    Suppose you have 2 files in the same directory: New File Name.txt and NewFil~1.txt If you use CopyFileEx to copy both files to the same destination, maintaining the same names, you will end up having only ONE file (the second one replaces the first one) which can be sometimes not a good thing. Any workaround for this behavior?

    Double buffering not working with combo-box. is there any another methods to avoid flickering in windows forms? i have one windows form with number of panels in it. I'm showing only one panel at a time based on my menu selection. i have one icon panel,one header panel and the combo box. based on the selected item of that combo-box the gridview1 and 2 are filling. when I'm rapidly selecting the combo-box item using my keyboard down arrow the icon panel and the header panel are always repainting. i need to keep that both without any change. this two panels producing some flashing effect(ie,they are blinking or flashing) while I'm changing the combo box selected index. is there any way to avoid this flashing.? i tried double-buffered enabled in form constructor and form load event. Please Help..............

    Just wondering what's the best way to go about structuring asynchronous mailers in my Rails app (using Sidekiq)? I have one ActionMailer class with multiple methods/emails... notifier.rb: class Notifier < ActionMailer::Base default from: "\"Company Name\" <[email protected]>" default_url_options[:host] = Rails.env.production? ? 'domain.com' : 'localhost:5000' def welcome_email(user) @user = user mail to: @user.email, subject: "Thanks for signing up!" end ... def password_reset(user) @user = user @edit_password_reset_url = edit_password_reset_url(user.perishable_token) mail to: @user.email, subject: "Password Reset" end end Then for example, the password_reset mail is sent in my User model by doing... user.rb: def deliver_password_reset_instructions! reset_perishable_token! NotifierWorker.perform_async(self) end notifier_worker.rb: class NotifierWorker include Sidekiq::Worker sidekiq_options queue: "mail" def perform(user) Notifier.password_reset(user).deliver end end So I guess I'm wondering a couple things here... Is it possible to define many "perform" actions in one single worker? By doing so I could keep things simple (one notifier/mail worker) as I have it and send many different emails through it. Or should I create many workers? One for each mailer (e.g. WelcomeEmailWorker, PasswordResetWorker, etc) and just assign them all to use the same "mail" queue with Sidekiq. I know it works as it is, but should I break out each of those mail methods (welcome_email, password_reset, etc) into individually mailer classes or is it ok to have them all under one class like Notifier? Really appreciate any advice here. Thanks!

    With the Ajax Control Toolkit, one can easily drag and drop all types of great extender onto controls, but they register a boatload of JavaScript to do it. How do I control this? If the ScriptManager is in the MasterPage, is there anyway to control the loading of a script on one page that isn't in another? For example: calendar extender is on one page, but the script for it gets loaded on every page that is a child of the master page.

  • Eclipse RCP: How to troubleshoot plugin dependencies & classpath problems?

    I am working on an RCP project based on eclipse. It has been working fine but recently I thought I'd upgrade it to use a new eclipse version (3.2 - 3.5). After a bit of trouble, it seemed to be working fine. Then I did something. Don't know what. The end result is that I'm getting a classpath error when one of my plugins (A) tries to access a class in one of the dependent plugins (B) (also one of mine). As far as I can see, Plugin A has Plugin B in its' dependency list and the compiler shows no errors. To test, I created a new Plugin C with one class and accessed the class from Plugin A. That works fine. Does anyone have any hints for troubleshooting such issues? A checklist of settings to check? I've been stuggling with this for hours and getting nowhere! Particularly frustrating as it was working until I changed something! Thanks

  • rails + paperclip: Is a generic "Attachment" model a good idea?

    On my application I've several things with attachments on them, using paperclip. Clients have one logo. Stores can have one or more pictures. These pictures, in addition, can have other information such as the date in which they were taken. Products can have one or more pictures of them, categorized (from the font, from the back, etc). For now, each one of my Models has its own "paperclip-fields" (Client has_attached_file) or has_many models that have attached files (Store has_many StorePictures, Product has_many ProductPictures) My client has also told me that in the future we might be adding more attachments to the system (i.e. pdf documents for the clients to download). My application has a rather complex authorization system implemented with declarative_authorization. One can not, for example, download pictures from a product he's not allowed to 'see'. I'm considering re-factoring my code so I can have a generic "Attachment" model. So any model can has_many :attachments. With this context, does it sound like a good idea? Or should I continue making Foos and FooPictures?

  • Threaded application sleeps with other application

    I have a weird problem with my threaded software. I start 2 instances of the software. Each instance has 2 threads, one thread creates a socket to use, and the other one is uses the socket for communication. When one of the threads in one instance calls sleep(3), the other threads in the the other instance sleeps too. And the weirdest thing is that when I rebooted the computer, it works the first time, but after trying a second time, it sleeps like described. How is this possible? Is it using some shared resource?

    I've got such query: $sql = "UPDATE test_accs SET acc_owner = '$owner_id', acc_policy_version = '$version', acc_policy_last_update = '$approved', acc_policy_next_update = '$renewed' WHERE acc_id = '1'"; Now, all of these values on the web folmular are optional, one can set one of these values, two, or so. Now, after I submit the form, it goes in the query like that: UPDATE test_accs SET acc_owner = '2', acc_policy_version = '1.2', acc_policy_last_update = '2012-12-19', acc_policy_next_update = '2012-12-18' WHERE acc_id = '1' It works only when I submit all values from the form. Can you please show me how could it work even if not all the values has been sent, just for example one of them? When I set one value (f.ex. policy version), it looks like that: UPDATE test_accs SET acc_owner = '', acc_policy_version = '1.2', acc_policy_last_update = '', acc_policy_next_update = '' WHERE acc_id = '1' and it isn't working. It might be possible cause of the acc_owner table values? #1366 - Incorrect integer value: '' for column 'acc_owner' at row 1 Thanks in advice.

    Hello all, I've been assigned the task to design a temporary customer tracking system in MS Access 2007 (sheeeesh!). The tables and relationships have all been setup successfully. But I'm running into a minor problem while trying to design the data entry form for one table... Here's a bit of explanation first. The screen contains 3 dropdown boxes (apart from other fields). 1st dropdown The first dropdown (cboMarket) represents the Market lets users select between 2 options: Domestic International Since the first dropdown contains only 2 items I didn't bother making a table for it. I added them as pre-defined list items. 2nd dropdown Once the user makes a selection in this one, the second dropdown (cboLeadCategory) loads up a list of Lead Categories, namely, Fairs & Exhibitions, Agents, Press Ads, Online Ads etc. Different sets of lead categories are utilized for the 2 markets. Hence this box is dependent on the 1st one. Structure of the bound table, named Lead_Cateogries for the 2nd combo is: ID Autonumber Lead_Type TEXT <- actually a list that takes up Domestic or International Lead_Category_Name TEXT 3rd dropdown And based on the choice of category in the 2nd one, the third one (cboLeadSource) is supposed to display a pre-defined set of lead sources belonging to the particular category. Table is named Lead_Sources and the structure is: ID Autonumber Lead_Category NUMBER <- related to ID of Lead Categories table Lead_Source TEXT When I make the selection in the 1st dropdown, the AfterUpdate event of the combo is called, which instructs the 2nd dropdown to load contents: Private Sub cboMarket_AfterUpdate() Me![cboLead_Category].Requery End Sub The Row Source of the 2nd combo contains a query: SELECT Lead_Categories.ID, Lead_Categories.Lead_Category_Name FROM Lead_Categories WHERE Lead_Categories.Lead_Type=[cboMarket] ORDER BY Lead_Categories.Lead_Category_Name; The AfterUpdate event of 2nd combo is: Private Sub cboLeadCategory_AfterUpdate() Me![cboLeadSource].Requery End Sub The Row Source of 3rd combo contains: SELECT Leads_Sources.ID, Leads_Sources.Lead_Source FROM Leads_Sources WHERE [Lead_Sources].[Lead_Category]=[Lead_Categories].[ID] ORDER BY Leads_Sources.Lead_Source; Problem When I select Market type from cboMarket, the 2nd combo cboLeadCategory loads up the appropriate Categories without a hitch. But when I select a particular Category from it, instead of the 3rd combo loading the lead source names, a modal dialog is displayed asking me to Enter a Parameter. When I enter anything into this prompt (valid or invalid data), I get yet another prompt: Why is this happening? Why isn't the 3rd box loading the source names as desired. They share a database, but I want the processor to react quickly to new tasks rather than polling periodically. Are there any straightforward ways for two Python servers to talk to one another, or does the task processor have to have web-hooks or something? It feels there ought to be a blessed way to do this...

  • Combining XSLT transforms

    Is there a way to combine two XSLT documents into a single XSLT document that does the same as transforming using the original two in sequence? i.e. Combining XSLTA and XSLTB into XSLTC such that XSLTB( XSLTA( xml )) == XSLTC( xml )? There's three reasons I'd like to be able to do this: Simplifies development; some operations need sequential transforms, and although I can generate a combined one by hand, it's a lot more difficult to maintain that two much simpler, separate transforms. Speed; one transform is in most cases hopefully faster than two. I'm currently working on a program that literally just transforms a data file in XML into an XHTML page capable of editing it using one XSLT, and a second XSLT that transforms the XHTML page back into the data file when it's saved. One test I hope to be able to do is to combine the two, and easily confirm that the 'combined' XSLT should leave the data unchanged.

  • titleForHeaderInSection is not updating Section Header information correctly

    I have two tableviews where one navigates to the next. Both use more or less the same code and use the managedObjectContext and FetchedResultsController design pattern to provide the relevant data for both tables. My problem happens when I navigate from the first to the second tableview and the data has only one Section Header / Row in the tableview. The data will then not update Section Header information. It does when there is more than one row but not if there is only one row. It leaves the information from the first attempt in place. I can confirm the row data is correct so the relevant data should be being passed to the Section Header correctly but it isn't. Has anyone else come across this problem?

How can i determine which portion of my primary project is causing the "old" one to show up? I can probably do it by trial and error, but is there a quick/direct way?
