• Cisco 891w multiple VLAN configuration

  I'm having trouble getting my guest network up. I have VLAN 1 that contains all our network resources (servers, desktops, printers, etc). I have the wireless configured to use VLAN1 but authenticate with wpa2 enterprise. The guest network I just wanted to be open or configured with a simple WPA2 personal password on it's own VLAN2. I've looked at tons of documentation and it should be working but I can't even authenticate on the guest network! I've posted this on cisco's support forum a week ago but no one has really responded. I could really use some help. So if anyone could take a look at the configurations I posted and steer me in the right direction I would be extremely grateful.   I'm keeping the main content area of the webpage small, so that footer navigation can be seen "above the fold". This is done by javascript setting the main content <div> thus: sec.style.height = '265px'; sec.style.overflow = 'hidden'; And then using javascript to insert a button to change the style back to normal: sec.style.height = 'auto'; The problem is that the cut-off point of 265px (dictated by the size of an image which I don't want to hide) doesn't quite match the gap between lines of text. This means that there the tops of tall letters show as funny little marks. Is there any way to hide text which is partially showing in a <div style="overflow: hidden;">? The problem I'm having is some content loads with links which are intended to load content into a secondary window. I'm using the .live() method to allow jquery to listen for new links loaded into the primary content div. This works until the .ajax() method is called for these fresh links loaded with ajax, where the method begins, but follows the original link before data can be received. I'm assuming the problem is in the client-side scripting, but it may be a problem with the call made to the server. I'm using the wordpress loop to parse the url and generate the html loaded via jquery. Thanks for any tips!

• Problem using Flash Components in multiple SWC files

  [Edit: Short version - how do you properly handle namespace collisions in SWC files if one SWC has fewer classes from that namespace than another?] I have a rather large Flash application which I'm building in Flash Builder (because coding/debugging in the Flash IDE is... not good) and I've got a ton of external SWC files which I'm linking in to my application. This has worked well so far - the file size is on the large side, but it's a lot simpler than loading in SWFs, especially since I am extending most of the classes in each SWC and adding custom code that way (it's a very design-heavy app.) The problem I'm having is when I have Flash Components, like ComboBox or TextInput, in more than one SWC.   I am following the SampleSyncAdapter and upon startup, it appears that my SyncAdapter is not configured correctly. It reports an error trying to load its meta-data. How can I isolate the problem?   Hi All, I will restrict this to the three tables I am trying to work with Problem, Communications, and ProbComms. The scenario is that a Student may have many Problems concurrently which may affect their studies. Lecturers may have future communications with a student after an initial problem is logged, however as a Student may have multiple Problems the Lecturer may decide that the discussion they had is related to more than one Problem. The LINQ I am using for ProbComms is This is located in the Model class ProbCommRepository, and accessed via a IProbCommRepository interface: public IQueryable<ProbComm> FindAllProblemComms(string studentEmail) { return (from p in db.ProbComms where p.Problem.StudentEmail.Equals(studentEmail) orderby p.Problem.ProblemDateTime select p); } However for example if I have this data in the ProbComms table: ProblemID CommunicationID 1 1 1 2 The query returns two rows so I assume I somehow have to groupby Problem or ProblemID but I am not too sure how to do this with the way I have built things as the return type has to be ProbComm for the query as thats what Model class its located in.   I'm trying to create some 'friend assemblies' using the [InternalsVisibleTo()] attribute, but I can't seem to get it working. I've followed Microsoft's instructions for creating signed friend assemblies and I can't see where I'm going wrong. So I'll detail my steps here and hopefully someone can spot my deliberate mistake...? Create a strong name key and extract the public key, thus: sn -k StrongNameKey sn -p public.pk sn -tp public.pk Add the strong name key to each project and enable signing.   Hi, We are running our cluster on Amazon EC2. we are using cloudera scripts to setup hadoop. On the master node, we start below services. 609 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start namenode' 610 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start secondarynamenode' 611 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start jobtracker' 612 613 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop dfsadmin -safemode wait' On the slave machine, we run the below services. 625 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start datanode' 626 $AS_HADOOP '"$HADOOP_HOME"/bin/hadoop-daemon.sh start tasktracker' The main problem we are facing is, hdfs safemode recovery is taking more than an hour and this is causing delays in our job completion. Below are the main log messages. 1. domU-12-31-39-0A-34-61.compute-1.internal 10/05/05 20:44:19 INFO ipc.Client: Retrying connect to server: ec2-184-73-64-64.compute-1.amazonaws.com/10.192.11.240:8020. Already tried 21 time(s). 2. The reported blocks 283634 needs additional 322258 blocks to reach the threshold 0.9990 of total blocks 606499. Safe mode will be turned off automatically. The first message is thrown in task trackers log because, job tracker is not started. job tracker didn't start because of hdfs safemode recovery. The second message is thrown during the recovery process. Is there something I am doing wrong? How much time does normal hdfs safemode recovery takes?   Hi, I originally intended to use MATLAB to tackle this problem but the inbuilt functions has limitations that do not suit my goal. The same limitation occurs in NumPy. I have two tab-delimited files. The first is a file showing amino acid residue, frequency and count for an in-house database of protein structures, i.e. A 0.25 1 S 0.25 1 T 0.25 1 P 0.25 1 The second file consists of quadruplets of amino acids and the number of times they occur, i.e. ASTP 1 Note, there are 8,000 such quadruplets. Based on the background frequency of occurence of each amino acid and the count of quadruplets, I aim to calculate the multinomial probability density function for each quadruplet and subsequently use it as the expected value in a maximum likelihood calculation. The multinomial distribution is as follows: f(x|n, p) = n!/(x1!*x2!*...*xk!)*((p1^x1)*(p2^x2)*...*(pk^xk)) where x is the number of each of k outcomes in n trials with fixed probabilities p. n is 4 four in all cases in my calculation. I have created three functions to calculate this distribution. # functions for multinomial distribution def expected_quadruplets(x, y): expected = x*y return expected # calculates the probabilities of occurence raised to the number of occurrences def prod_prob(p1, a, p2, b, p3, c, p4, d): prob_prod = (pow(p1, a))*(pow(p2, b))*(pow(p3, c))*(pow(p4, d)) return prob_prod # factorial() and multinomial_coefficient() work in tandem to calculate C, the multinomial coefficient def factorial(n): if n <= 1: return 1 return n*factorial(n-1) def multinomial_coefficient(a, b, c, d): n = 24.0 multi_coeff = (n/(factorial(a) * factorial(b) * factorial(c) * factorial(d))) return multi_coeff The problem is how best to structure the data in order to tackle the calculation most efficiently, in a manner that I can read (you guys write some cryptic code :-)) and that will not create an overflow or runtime error. To data my data is represented as nested lists. amino_acids = [['A', '0.25', '1'], ['S', '0.25', '1'], ['T', '0.25', '1'], ['P', '0.25', '1']] quadruplets = [['ASTP', '1']] I initially intended calling these functions within a nested for loop but this resulted in runtime errors or overfloe errors. I know that I can reset the recursion limit but I would rather do this more elegantly. I had the following: for i in quadruplets: quad = i[0].split(' ') for j in amino_acids: for k in quadruplets: for v in k: if j[0] == v: multinomial_coefficient(int(j[2]), int(j[2]), int(j[2]), int(j[2])) I haven'te really gotten to how to incorporate the other functions yet. I think that my current nested list arrangement is sub optimal. I wish to compare the each letter within the string 'ASTP' with the first component of each sub list in amino_acids. Where a match exists, I wish to pass the appropriate numeric values to the functions using indices. Is their a better way? Can I append the appropriate numbers for each amino acid and quadruplet to a temporary data structure within a loop, pass this to the functions and clear it for the next iteration? Thanks, S :-)

Some background on my problem: Given: A mesh of nodes of size (x,y) each with a value (0...255) starting at 0 A list of N input coordinates each at a specified location within the range (0...x, 0...y) Increment the value of the node at the input coordinate and the node's neighbors within range Z up to a maximum of 255. Neighbors beyond the mesh edge are ignored. (No wrapping) BASE CASE: A mesh of size 1024x1024 nodes, with 400 input coordinates and a range Z of 75 nodes. Processing should be O(x*y*Z*N). I expect x, y and Z to remain roughly around the values in the base case, but the number of input coordinates N could increase up to 100,000. My goal is to minimize processing time. Current results I have 2 current implementations: f1, f2 Running speed on my 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with Python 2.6.1: f1: 2.9s f2: 1.8s f1 is the initial naive implementation: three nested for loops. f2 is replaces the inner for loop with a list comprehension. Code is included below for your perusal. Question How can I further reduce the processing time? I'd prefer sub-1.0s for the test parameters. Please, keep the recommendations to native Python. I know I can move to a third-party package such as numpy, but I'm trying to avoid any third party packages. Also, I've generated random input coordinates, and simplified the definition of the node value updates to keep our discussion simple. • Java - Lock Aspect Ratio of JFrame

  Is it possible to lock the aspect ratio of a JFrame in Java Swing? For example, if my window is 200px by 200px, and the user wants to resize it, I want the ratio between the width and the height at 1:1, so that if the new width is 400px, the new height is forced to 400px. I'm aware of ComponentListener and componentResized, but I'm having difficulty not getting it to go into an infinite loop of resizing, because I'm resizing the window in a resize listener. Thanks!

• How to use Scala in IntelliJ IDEA (or: why is it so difficult to get a working IDE for Scala)?

  I recently gave up trying to use Scala in Eclipse (basic stuff like completion doesn't work). So now I'm trying IntelliJ. I'm not getting very far. I've been able to edit programs (within syntax highlighting and completion... yay!). But I'm unable to run even the simplest "Hello World". This was the original error: Scala signature Predef has wrong version Expected 5.0 found: 4.1 in .... scala-library.jar But that was yesterday with IDEA 9.0.1. See below... UPDATE Today I uninstalled IntelliJ 9.0.1, and installed 9.0.2 Early Availability, with the 4/14 stable version of the Scala plug-in. I try to solve the problem by changing the zip file creation code to String[] filenames = new String[]{"MyDirectory" + "/" + "MyFile.txt"}; But, is this an eligible solution, by hard-coded the seperator? Will it work under Mac OS? (I do not have a Mac to try out)

• .NET 4 RTM MetadataType attribute ignored when using Validator

  I am using VS 2010 RTM and trying to perform some basic validation on a simple type using MetadataTypeAttribute. When I put the validation attribute on the main class, everything works. However, when I put it on the metadata class, it seems to be ignored. I must be missing something trivial, but I've been stuck on this for a while now. I had a look at the Enterprise Library validation block as a workaround, but it doesn't support validation of single properties out of the box. My first guess was that there's a Hardware problem of some sort and I asked my Hoster (it's a rented root server) to do a full hardwarecheck - they did, but couldn't find any problem. I don't know what and how they checked but their support team is usually quite good. I ran memtester and cpuburn myself and couldn't find any error either. Unfortunately I have no reliable way to reproduce these segfaults, they seem to be more or less random. On a hunch I disabled the firewall of the system and ran one of the programs that segfaulted regularily (imapsync) and it seemed to take longer to segfault than before, so the problem might be related to the network stack. Or could just be a random thing. • CSS: Horizontally scrolling image inside variable width div?

  I have... <div id="tabs"> <!-- ... --> <div id="interior-photo"> <img src="..."> </div> <!-- ... --> </div> ... and ... #interior-photo { overflow-x: auto; } Basically, I have a page broken down into a main section and a fixed-width right sidebar. Within the main section, I have my tabbed div. The entire page grows with the width of the window, so when the window is resized, the tabbed div grows horizontally in size too. My problem is that the image that I'm loading inside one of the tabbed divs is generally much, much wider than the window usually is (they're panorama pictures; very lengthy horizontally, but not much vertically). I know that I can force the contents of #interior-photo to scroll horizontally using the CSS rule above, but that only seems to work when that same div has a fixed width. Since I want that div to have a variable width, it always seems to display the full width of the image, pushing my layout way out of whack. I know how to fix this using Javascript, but I was wondering if anyone has a CSS-only solution. If you need more information about my layout to solve this issue, please let me know. Thanks!

• QWebView not loading external resources

  Hi. I'm working on a kiosk web browser using Qt and PyQt4. QWebView seems to work quite well except for one quirk. If a URL fails to load for any reason, I want to redirect the user to a custom error page. I've done this using the loadFinished() signal to check the result, and change the URL to the custom page if necessary using QWebView.load(). However, any page I attempt to load here fails to pull in external resources like CSS or images. Using QWebView.load() to set the initial page at startup seems to work fine, and clicking any link on the custom error page will result in the destination page loading fine. It's just the error page that doesn't work. I'm really not sure where to go next. I've included the source for an app that will replicate the problem below. It takes a URL as a command line argument - a valid URL will display correctly, a bad URL (eg. I thought that this could be done by defining a custom category, example.custom.ACTIVITY, and in the mainActivity use the packageManager.queryIntentActivities(Intent intent, int flags) but it doesn't seem to be working. I really would like to code it to dinamically discover the installed activities in my application. Do you have any ideas on how to do this? Thank you
