  I am trying to play an audio file but I can get it working. I imported the AVFoundation framework. • GetWindowLongPtr fails if called when handling WM_CREATE

  Calling the GetWindowLongPtr function for a dialog box with the DWL_USER parameter fails when done from the WM_CREATE handler. It gives no error (checked that, the return value is always zero), which, according to the MSDN documentation, occurs only if SetWindowLongPtr has not been called previously. However, I call it after registering the window class, and properly call the SetWindowPos after that. Finally, calling GetWindowLongPtr in any other event handler, that is, later than WM_CREATE, works fine. Is there something I'm missing in the initialization sequence, or maybe the messages are sent in some not so obvious order?

• SVN merge adding parameters. WTF? Or how to do big merges?

  I am doing an SVN merge for a branch, and in one of the files I see this: GetQueryReferenceData(int sessionId, Int32 sessionId) Which means that the merge tool just added another parameter without asking any questions. Imagine if it was a call to Substring(0) and in another branch it would be Substring(0,2). That is completely different behavior, how does it even get to decide which one to choose? Good thing it came up during compile time. The problem is that it will not be marked as a conflict and will be merged automatically. That is very dangerous behavior and if you don't have the luxury of having a unit test for every line of code - you are screwed. What am I doing wrong and how to do big merges without the merging tool putting in dangerous changes silently? Is there a merge tool that is not language agnostic? I am using Tortoise SVN.

  I have written a C++ wrapper DLL for C# to call. The DLL was tested and worked fine with my C++ test program. now integrated with C#, I got runtime error and crashed. Cannot use debugger to see more details. I use malloc because assigning it to an array will not persist after the end of the function. Second, what is the best way to point to the pointer at the specified index? I tried typecasting the first line of the 'GetPtr' function to ensure proper pointer arithmetic, but I receive the warning, 'initialization from incompatible pointer type'. Is it necessary to typecast?

• How do I get the CoreData Debug argument to output to the console?

  According to Apple documentation on debugging Core Data it says we should be able to pass an argument to the application which will output the SQL core data sends to SQLite. I have gone into the arguments tab of my executable in XCode and specified the argument: -com.apple.CoreData.SQLDebug 1 However, I see no SQL in the console. I then tried to use this parameter in the CoreDataBooks application provided by Apple just in case there was some other issue in MY program. Even in Apple's example I get no SQL output in the console. Am I doing something wrong? Is Apple's documentation wrong? Should I be looking someplace other than the console? Has anyone else had success with this argument?

• Visaul Studio 2010, TlbImp generates .net 4.0 interops in 2.0 projects

  In a C# project we add a reference to a COM object via the Add References setup pointing to a COM object which results in the IDE auto-generating the interop assembly. So this is fine and good, but we are building based on .net 3.5 SP1 aka CLR 2.0, and the generated interops are using the 4.0 CLR making them incompatiable. Is there a way to prevent this? I assume the other option is in our build script to try using tlbimp.exe with the /references parameter? to point to mscorlib v2.0? Anyhow, I'm hoping there's a flag somewhere to allow this.

  Hello, I'm trying to implement a facebook search in my system (auto suggest while typing). I've managed to code all the ajax stuff, but I'm not sure how to query the database. I've created a table called People which contains the fields: ID, FirstName, LastName, MiddleName, Email. I've also created a FTS-index on all those fields. I want to create a stored procedure that will get as a parameter the text inserted in the query box and returns the suggestions. For example, When I will write in the textbox the query "Joh Do" It will translate to the query: select * from People where contains(*, '"Joh*"') and contains(*, '"Do*"') Is there a way to do that in stored procedure? P.S I've tried to use the syntax select * from People where contains(*,'"Joh*" and "Do*"') but it didn't returned the expected results, probably because it needs to search the words on different fields. Is there a way to fix that? Thanks.

• Deserialising Json to derived types in Asp.Net Web API

  I'm calling a method of my WebAPI sending a json that I would like to match (or bind) with a model. In the controller I have a method like: public Result Post([ModelBinder(typeof(CustomModelBinder))]MyClass model); 'MyClass', wich is given as a parameter is an abstract class. I would like that at, depending of the type of json passed, the correct inherited class is instantiated. To achieve it, I'm trying to implement a custom binder. The problem is that (I don't know if it's very basic but I can't find anything) I don't know how to retrieve the raw Json (or better, some kind of serialization) that comes in the request. I see: actionContext.Request.Content But all methods are exposed as async. I don't know who this fits with passing the generate model to the controller method... Thanks a lot!

  Hi, I'm surprised this question wasn't asked before on SO (well, at least I couldn't find it). Have you ever designed a method-callback pattern (something like a "pointer" to a class method) in C++ and, if so, how did you do it ? I know a method is just a regular function with some hidden this parameter to serve as a context and I have a pretty simple design in mind. However, since things are often more complex than they seem to, I wonder how our C++ gurus would implement this, preferably in an elegant and standard way. All suggestions are welcome !

  I'm using dijit combobox for populating a JSON List. Also I'm using ItemFileReadStore for getting the JSON data from the server. Once the data is downloaded, when I click on the combobox it shows all the data. But I don't want the user to see all the data. The user should see the list only when he types something. • Send custom data when initializing java WebService over soap

  Hello. I have a question about sending additional data over soap to the functions. My webService function requests only one integer, for example an getDocumentPrivilage(DocumentID). In another WebService user registered and he got an unique ID, so the other application can see who he is. So on Service one he registers, gets id and it has to send it to the other webservice tor the privilage. Id dont wish to rewrite the function so that it gets the unique ID (like this getDocumentPrivilage(uniqID,DocumentID)) but, the wish is that i would be able to create a client that sends this data at the initialization or somehow as some sort of parameter behind the function. Is this possible?? I tried the ServiceLifecycle but cant see any setting i've given in. Im using WebSphere CE for the server and Jax-ws Creating the webapp in java. • Can you pass parameters for OnAction in MS Project VBA?

  The way I can define a method to be executed with OnAction in VBA with Microsoft Project is as follows (and works correctly): .OnAction = "Macro ""DoSomething""" ... where DoSomething is the method to execute. I would like to pass a parameter to that method but can't find a way to pass it with this syntax. Does anybody have an idea how to do this? I'm getting the feeling that this is an impossible task, but maybe there's some VBA secret I'm not aware of. Please note that VBA in MS Project seems to have its quirks and is slightly different than VBA for Excel or Access. This seems to be the case for the OnAction property which needs the extra Macro keyword to work correctly. If I'm wrong here please enlighten me.

Is keys %FIELDS the only way? Secondarily, is there a more efficient way to pre-populate the fields in the constructor than looping through and assigning each parameter as I am above? Thanks!

  I'm having Pages with TextBlocks on them. Text Blocks may appear on different pages, pages may have several text blocks on them. Every page may have these blocks in an ordering of it's own. This can be solved by using a separate through parameter. Is there a recommended way to go about this?

  Is there a tool to see the message sent to webservice hosted on an IIS server? I have a webservice written in .Net and our ColdFusion people are having trouble building a "complex" parameter. This problem is described from a ColdFusion perspective at: adobe forum question It runs when called from a .net client. While hosted on a server inside our LAN, I put it out on a public server so the WSDL could be viewed: please take a quick look at this WSDL here When the CF developer runs her code, she gets: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: argument type mismatch ...and I am wondering if there is a tool I could run on the server that hosts my webservice to see if it is even entering the WS or is being rejected by Java code that CF uses and is not really even getting to my webservice.

• Validating single form field with CodeIgniter

  Is there a quick way to validate a single form field with CodeIgniter to see whether or not that field matches a set of rules? There's the $this-form_validation-run();, but that will return either TRUE or FALSE for the whole form, and that's just not what I'm looking for. For example, if I only wanted to check if the email was valid, checking the whole form is not going to get me the result I'm looking for. I looked through the documentation but couldn't find anything like $this-form_validation-run(); that accepts one parameter and returns TRUE or FALSE if it's valid.
