    I was wondering if there are any good open source programs out there that are basically 'all-skill' encompassing that i could use to develop my skills Im a strong believer in learning by doing so a nice open source program i could load onto my machine to learn C# would be ideal. I have some knowledge with basic C# and a little more advanced techniques so im not a total beginner i realise similar questions have been asked before but i was just trying no see if there is one definitive one rather than lots of little projects hopefully im not asking too much! haha

    I'm just beginner to linux operating system I have following doubts 1.Now i am using ubuntu 10.10 version i dont have net connection in my home So how can i install packages manually for ex: if me and my friend have same version and same hardware config if he installed installed all packages in his laptop can i install all his packages by copy packages from his lap to mine ?? if there is a way then how to do it?? I know some of these can be found on wikipedia, but wikipedia is full of minor and sometimes big mistakes and I don't think that is the best choice for learning something. Where should I start ? Also, please don't recommend books of 1000 pages or such.

    I have recently started learning javascript and html and have developed simple 2 player games such as tick-tack-toe, battleship, and dots&boxes. However these 2 player games can only be played on one computer (i.e. the 2 players must sit together) However, I want to modify this so that one can play with a friend on a different computer. Any suggestions on how this is possible? Also since I am a beginner please do not assume that I know all the jargon.

Can anyone explain me the underlying principle behind this method? EDIT: I know that in Sieve of Eratosthenes, we find all primes upto the square root of given number and cross out all multiples of them till the given number. But what do we exactly do in its segmented version?

    I dont know if I should start digging into Python beforehand just to get acquanited with programming and "whet my appetite" or if I should work on the C++ book... Python definitely has more resources around town and I like the beginner friendly approach that seems to go along with every site that appeals to it.
