  • Can you selectively enable or disable 'FilterDescriptors' in silverlight 4?

    In Silverlight with RIA services it is very easy to implement simple data filtering with 'FilterDescriptor' instances. However I've got a case where I have several filters and I want to enable or disable them based on other filters. It seems like a simple 'Enabled' property would make this really easy - but there is none. Is there a way to achieve this without just manually defining all the filters I need every time the relevant checkbox is checked.

    I see that a JSON serializer is present in the System.Web.Script.Serialization namespace, and is shipped in the System.Web.Extensions.dll assembly. Is this assembly distributed with the .NET framework v4.0 redistributable? Is it also guaranteed to be present on a user's machine if any edition of Visual Studio 2010 is installed?

    Hello, I need to generate small images for certain parts of text. Those will have to fit into the text seamlessly. I know I can not make up for every browser font settings available, but how do I have to check for Linux, Mac and Windows users depending on the user agent? I want to use the right font (of the three "Verdana, Arial, Helvetiva") for the right user agent OS. So: How do I check for the OS? What do I have to compare to in the user agent? Where can I get the other two fonts. Does the Windows-included Verdana look the same as the one used on Linux (or, is it free anyway? I don't know much about fonts)? Where do I get Helvetica? Is it Mac OS licensed? Any code examples can be in either c# or VB.NET. I can read both. Thank you in advance.

  • Calling back a functions value

    I need your help, I cannot, for the life of me, figure this out. I've had my head wrapped around it only to no avail. Ideally, i'd like to setup two functions. 1 function: select_date() to interact with the user to select a date from the jQuery Date picker. If the dialog is closed then return as null. Then a second function: test() to check wether or not a date was picked/selected.' So is there a similar way to work transparently with web reference proxy classes for say, RoR, PHP, and Python? And if there's nothing integrated, are there tools you recommend to autogen the proxy classes, or do you recommend to roll custom classes?

  • How to return an enum ID instead of the enum text in WebAPI

    I am using the WebAPI with .NET 4.5. I have a enum called DareStatus which is a list of statuses and their corresponding integer ID's. To minimize bandwidth traffic I want to send the int values of the enums, not the full text as it is currently doing. (I have control over the client so I can map it on the clientside).   • Zend_Paginator / Doctrine 2

    I'm using Doctrine 2 with my Zend Framework application and a typical query result could yield a million (or more) search results. I want to use Zend_Paginator in line with this result set. However, I don't want to return all the results as an array and use the Array adapter as this would be inefficient, instead I would like to supply the paginator the total amount of rows then and array of results based on limit/offset amounts. Is this doable using the Array adapter or would I need to create my own pagination adapter?
