  • How can I add Copperplate Gothic Bold font in my iPhone program ?

    - by srikanth rongali
    Hi, I need to display some text in cocos2d layer. I added UITextView to it. I added the text in the text View. But, for setting the font by ( UIFont class), I could not do it. I saw the list of supported fonts for iPhone, In that list Copperplate Gothic Bold is not there. I downloaded it from net. It is working good for CCLabel and CCFontMenuItem. How can I make it work for UILabel ? * Assertion failure in -[UILabel setFont:], /SourceCache/UIKit/UIKit-963.10/UILabel.m:445 2010-05-19 16:07:43.282 testOfGameScreen[1155:207] * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: 'Invalid parameter not satisfying: font != nil' 2010-05-19 16:07:43.285 testOfGameScreen[1155:207] Stack: ( I am getting the above error when using UIFont with Copperplate Gothic Bold Thank you.

  • Do we really need a safe release macro?

    - by Ian1971
    Quite a lot of people seem to use a macro such as #define SAFE_RELEASE(X) [X release]; X = nil; (myself included). I've been reassessing why I am using it and wanted to canvas some opinion. The purpose (I think) for using this macro is so that if you were to accidentally use your object after releasing it then you won't get a bad access exception because objective-c will quite happily ignore it when the object is nil. It strikes me that this has the potential to mask some obscure bugs. Maybe it would actually be preferable for the program to crash when you try to use X again. That way during testing you can find the issue and improve the code. Does this macro encourage lazy programming? Thoughts?

  • Opening an Excel file in c#

    - by Jan de Jager
    So there are a lot of questions regarding this method on SO, but none seem to answer my question. I firstly had an issue with the connectionstring (although it seems to work in other areas of my code correctly). This was resolved easily. Now the issue is with a simple SELECT query via a OLEDBCommand (Text) that keeps popping up the following error? "SELECT [Opportunity#],[BidManager],[Prob %],[Opportunity_Stage].[Opportunity_Status],[Term],[Sign Date] FROM [Sheet1$];" No value given for one or more required parameters. but their are no parameters???? Checked and double checked the columns names, but to no avail. Also tried removing the special characters from the column names, but still the same exception.

  • Keeping messages in queue in case of receiver crash

    - by John Doe
    Hi, We've a Spring JMS message listener container for receiving messages asynchronously. Using DefaultMessageListenerContainer and in sessionTransacted mode. I understand being in sessionTransacted mode means in case of an exception the message will be put back into the queue. But how can I make sure the message won't be deleted from the queue even if the receiver (which is picked the message) crashes or just the machine running it looses power? At first I thought CLIENT_ACKNOWLEDGE acknowledge mode should save me, but apparently it's not the case, Spring calls .acknowledge() no matter what. So here's my question, how can I guarantee the delivery? Using a custom MessageListenerContainer? Using a transaction manager?

  • How to customise the TextView inside a Spinner?

    - by Janusz
    I have a Spinner with an ArrayAdapter that feeds Values into it. The Problem is that the text is to long for the view and the result is a very very ugly spinner. As can be seen in the screenshot: I tried to pass the Id of my own TextView into the Adapter but everytime the spinner should be shown I get an Exception that the Id I supplied is not valid: 04-26 17:38:39.695: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(4276): android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException: Resource ID #0x7f09003a type #0x12 is not valid Where do I have to define the TextView? In a separate xml file? With a surrounding viewgroup? It would help me a lot if I could see an example of the adapter initialization and the textview definition?

  • How to make a database service in Netbeans 6.5 to connect to SQLite databases?

    - by farzad
    I use Netbeans IDE (6.5) and I have a SQLite 2.x database. I installed a JDBC SQLite driver from zentus.com and added a new driver in Nebeans services panel. Then tried to connect to my database file from Services Databases using this URL for my database: jdbc:sqlite:/home/farzad/netbeans/myproject/mydb.sqlite but it fails to connect. I get this exception: org.netbeans.modules.db.dataview.meta.DBException: Unable to Connect to database : DatabaseConnection[name='jdbc:sqlite://home/farzad/netbeans/myproject/mydb.sqlite [ on session]'] at org.netbeans.modules.db.dataview.output.SQLExecutionHelper.initialDataLoad(SQLExecutionHelper.java:103) at org.netbeans.modules.db.dataview.output.DataView.create(DataView.java:101) at org.netbeans.modules.db.dataview.api.DataView.create(DataView.java:71) at org.netbeans.modules.db.sql.execute.SQLExecuteHelper.execute(SQLExecuteHelper.java:105) at org.netbeans.modules.db.sql.loader.SQLEditorSupport$SQLExecutor.run(SQLEditorSupport.java:480) at org.openide.util.RequestProcessor$Task.run(RequestProcessor.java:572) [catch] at org.openide.util.RequestProcessor$Processor.run(RequestProcessor.java:997) What should I do? :(

  • Suddenly Facebook API stopped working on Windows Phone

    - by Juan Diego
    My code hasn't changed, it was working yesterday or so. I can oauth, get the token but then doing the following: WebClient wc = new WebClient(); wc.DownloadStringCompleted += result; wc.DownloadStringAsync(new Uri("https://graph.facebook.com/me&access_token=xxxTOKENxxx", UriKind.Absolute)); Returns a NotFound WebClient exception: "The remote server returned an error: NotFound." Strange thing is that when pasting that same url on Chrome or IE it does work(PC). Tried on Emulator and on 2 different real WP devices, even pasting the same url on the WP browser. Feels like facebook is rejecting Windows Phone for some reason? Anyone has an idea of what might be happening?

  • can't explain NullPointerException

    - by John Pope
    In the following code, i have a method to get a Vector of persons with the same zodiac sign. persoane is a Vector. I keep getting a NullPointerException at the if condition (persoane is definetly not null). I am unable to see why. Any help would be greatly appreciated public Vector<Persoana> cautaDupaZodie(String zodie) { Vector<Persoana> rezultat= new Vector<Persoana>(); for(int i=0; i<persoane.size(); i++) { if(persoane.get(i).getData().getZodie().equals(zodie)) //the exception occurs here { rezultat.add(persoane.get(i)); } } return rezultat; }

  • Is it "legal" for C++ runtime to call terminate() when the C++ code is used inside some non-C++ prog

    - by sharptooth
    In certain cases - especially when an exception escapes a destructor during stack unwinding - C++ runtime calls terminate() which must do something reasonable post-mortem and then exit the program. When a question "why so harsh" arises the answer is usually "there's nothing more reasonable to do in such error situations". That sounds reasonable if the whole program is in C++. Now what if the C++ code is in a library and the program that uses the library is not in C++? This happens quite often - for example I might have a native C++ COM component consumed by a .NET program. Once terminate() is called inside the component code the .NET program suddenly ends abnormally. The program author will first of all think "I don't care of C++, why the hell is this library make my program exit?" How do I handle the latter scenario when developing libraries in C++? Is it reasonable that terminate() unexpectedly ends the program? Is there a better way to handle such situations?

  • Operator() as a subscript (C++)

    - by Ivan Gromov
    I use operator() as a subscript operator this way: double CVector::operator() (int i) const { if (i >= 0 && i < this->size) return this->data[i]; else return 0; } double& CVector::operator() (int i) { return (this->data[i]); } It works when I get values, but I get an error when I try to write assign a value using a(i) = 1; UPD: Error text: Unhandled exception at 0x651cf54a (msvcr100d.dll) in CG.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0xccccccc0.

  • C++'s char * by swig got problem in Python 3.0

    - by gpliu3
    Our C++ lib works fine with Python2.4 using Swig, returning a C++ char* back to a python str. But this solution hit problem in Python3.0, error is: Exception=(, UnicodeDecodeError('utf8', b"\xb6\x9d\xa.....",0, 1, 'unexpected code byte') Our definition is like(working fine in Python 2.4): void cGetPubModulus( void* pSslRsa, char* cMod, int* nLen ); %include "cstring.i" %cstring_output_withsize( char* cMod, int* nLen ); Suspect swig is doing a Bytes-Str conversion automatically. In python2.4 it can be implicit but in Python3.0 it's no long allowed.. Anyone got a good idea? thanks

  • Can FLV AAC stream be played in Android

    - by HariKJ
    Hi, I'm trying to build a radio player and the client is providing a stream which is a FLV container with the audio being AAC When I read the headers it shows up as audio/aacp. I have tried all possible ways such as using the 1) Streaming through mediaplayer (Does not work) 2) Use the NPR mode of using a proxy stream (I get a broken pipe exception) 3) Play it in chunks ( Plays but I need the SDCard and the playback is not very great) 4) Use the GPL'd FAAD2 Library but I would have to pay the royalty fee Can some one help me out on figuring this issue out. The last option that I have is to have my client change the stream to mp3 container (which I know that it works) Regards, Hari

  • MySql / Odbc connection problem

    - by Ingvald
    I'm accessing a MySql database via ODBC. It normally works fine, but if the database is stopped and restarted I have to restart my application in order to reconnect to the database. The code for accessing the database is like this: OdbcConnection connection = new OdbcConnection(connectString); OdbcCommand command = connection.CreateCommand(); command.CommandType = CommandType.Text; command.CommandText = "select * from cds"; OdbcDataAdapter dataAdapter = new OdbcDataAdapter(command); DataSet dataSet = new DataSet(); connection.Open(); dataAdapter.Fill(dataSet); connection.Close(); After a restart of the database, I get a 'MySql server has gone away' exception in dataAdapter.Fill method. Is there any way I can reconnect to the database when I detect that the connection has broken? I use VS2008 and MySql 5.1.30.

  • MySQL with Java: Open connection only if possible

    - by emempe
    I'm running a database-heavy Java application on a cluster, using Connector/J 5.1.14. Therefore, I have up to 150 concurrent tasks accessing the same MySQL database. I get the following error: Exception in thread "main" com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.MySQLNonTransientConnectionException: Too many connections This happens because the server can't handle so many connections. I can't change anything on the database server. So my question is: Can I check if a connection is possible BEFORE I actually connect to the database? Something like this (pseudo code): check database for open connection slots if (slot is free) { Connection cn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password); } else { wait ... } Cheers

  • UISearchBar in UINavigationBar with ScopeBar

    - by ncipollina
    I am trying to put a UISearchBar inside of the UINavigationBar, which I am able to do without much problem. The problem is that I have logic when editing to show the Scope Bar. This all works fine, with one exception. The navigation bar tries to center the UISearchBar inside of the title view. This causes the search bar to move up above the navigation bar. I tried adding some logic to set the frame of the search bar so that it just draws overtop of my main view, which is fine. I can only set the height, which causes the search bar to draw over the view just fine, but it isn't wide enough to cover the whole screen. If I set the width on the frame, it goes back to the same behavior of trying to center the UISearchBar on the navigation bar. Anyone know how I can accomplish this? Thanks, Nick

  • How do I get a MessageBox like information window to appear in Java?

    - by John McClane
    I'm learning Java and I have no idea how to do this. I dragged a button on the form in Netbeans, double clicked it and it created this event: @Action public void HelloClickMethod() { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(this, "The message!", "This is supposed to be the MessageBox title."); } This is the exception the IDE brings up. Cannot find symbol. Symbol: showMessageDialog() Edit 1 Now I changed it to this: @Action public void HelloClickMethod() { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(this, "The message!", "This is supposed to be the MessageBox title.",JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE); } However the IDE is saying I have an error in the word 'this'. "Cannot find symbol". I don't understand. Why is it so dificult and why are the errors so esoteric. :P

  • How to create initializeDB() method for java database

    - by Holly
    I am working on a Java project for class and have not worked much with incorporating databases into Java. I can't find much on the initializeDB() method, but if I could get some help I would really appreciate it. Below is the code being used for the intializeDB() method: private void initializeDB() { try { // Load the JDBC driver System.out.println("Driver loaded"); // Establish a connection System.out.println("Database connected"); // Create a statement // Create a SQL Query string // Execute the query to create a recordset } catch (Exception ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } }

  • Another dynamic memory allocation bug.

    - by m4design
    I'm trying to allocate memory for a multidimensional array (8 rows, 3 columns). Here's the code for the allocation (I'm sure the error is clear for you) char **ptr = (char **) malloc( sizeof(char) * 8); for (i = 0; i < 3; i++) ptr[i] = (char *) malloc( sizeof(char) * 3); The crash happens when I reference this: ptr[3][0]; Unhandled exception at 0x0135144d in xxxx.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation writing location 0xabababab. Are there any recommended references/readings for this kind of subject? Thanks.

  • In Java, does return trump finally?

    - by jonny five
    If I have a try/catch block with returns inside it, will the finally block be called? For example: try { something(); return success; } catch (Exception e) { return failure; } finally { System.out.println "i don't know if this will get printed out." } I know I can just type this in an see what happens (which is what I'm about to do, actually) but when I googled for answers nothing came up, so I figured I'd throw this up as a question. Thanks!

  • Problem saving Text file in database using Hibernate

    - by Marquinio
    I'm having a problem saving large text files to MySQL database. If the text file size is around 5KB it successfully saves. If file is 148KB then I get this error from Hibernate: org.hibernate.exception.DataException: Could not execute JDBC batch update These is the SQL shows by Hibernate: Hibernate: insert into file_table (ID,FILE) values (?, ?) And in my hibernate file I'm using java.sql.Blob to store the file. Anyone knows why it fails to save a file size of 148KB but if I open that same file, cut it down to around 5KB, it will successfully save it? I thought the default limit was I think 2GB? This is weird. Thanks.

  • How to dump STDIN to a file, using C++ STL?

    - by Jimm Chen
    HHello all, this is a straight forward question, but not a straight forward answer can be found by just Googling today. Hope someone can show me a concise answer before I dig into those thick C++ books and finally find the solution out. Thank you. I'm writing this program so to make a workaround in this issue: Why do I get 'Bad file descriptor' when trying sys.stdin.read() in subversion pre-revprop-change py script? Note: Content from STDIN may be arbitrary binary data. Please use C++ STL functions, iostream, ifstream etc . If the file creation/writing failed, I'd like to catch the exception to know the case.

  • Killing a script launched in a Process via os.system()

    - by L.J.
    I have a python script which launches several processes. Each process basically just calls a shell script: from multiprocessing import Process import os import logging def thread_method(n = 4): global logger command = "~/Scripts/run.sh " + str(n) + " >> /var/log/mylog.log" if (debug): logger.debug(command) os.system(command) I launch several of these threads, which are meant to run in the background. I want to have a timeout on these threads, such that if it exceeds the timeout, they are killed: t = [] for x in range(10): try: t.append(Process(target=thread_method, args=(x,) ) ) t[-1].start() except Exception as e: logger.error("Error: unable to start thread") logger.error("Error message: " + str(e)) logger.info("Waiting up to 60 seconds to allow threads to finish") t[0].join(60) for n in range(len(t)): if t[n].is_alive(): logger.info(str(n) + " is still alive after 60 seconds, forcibly terminating") t[n].terminate() The problem is that calling terminate() on the process threads isn't killing the launched run.sh script - it continues running in the background until I either force kill it from the command line, or it finishes internally. Is there a way to have terminate also kill the subshell created by os.system()?
